[Music] [Applause] [Music] so we're starting a new chapter in laws of chuva by rambam which starting chapter six which is kind of connected to chapter five talking about a free choice if you remember chapter five we talked all about free choice chapter six is kind of adding on that we're gonna do today the first and second al-akhan chapter six and without further ado it says as follows there are many verses in the torah and in the texts and the scripts of the prophets that seem to contradict the fact that we have free choice and we concluded chapter number five that we do have free choice that hashem tells us you're free to do whatever you want you can choose to do good you can choose to do bands they're all in your hands now he comes and says yeah but there's many verses in the tanakh that will contradict it and he says venice and many people fail in that they are and some people think shaka don't go there and many people think that they can who forces you so to say to do something good or to do something bad which really not because you have the choice and some people think or they understand from these verses that you don't have free choice and you you you're not your own punishment and reward is because you have free choice but we're not going to elaborate on what we said in chapter five he's just now saying that some people think that we are forced to do either good or bad so now i'm here coming to clarify a major part a major foundation in the torah when i'm saying i am not me that from that you can interpret all these verses that you can find in tanakh that we shalem that's what it says in the book of tillim i may i may repay them saying that if a person does something good or bad then there's going to be a reward for the good and the punishment for the bad luck and who knows how the person will get rewarded or punishment only the kardashian who knows nobody can come and tell you oh this is happening to you now because you did this and that nobody can say such things and a lot of people come and say oh this is happening to you because you did this and that unless you are a complete sadiq with local college they can come and tell you that don't listen to a person who comes and tells you oh this is happening because this and that rather the kardashian who knows he's the only one who knows what's going to be the punishment or what will be the reward if you do something good yes sometimes you will do a sin and you know what will be the punishment the punishment will be in this world against your body right it means a person who gets sick accident or you know you can use your own imagination but it says which means you do a sin and the punishment the judgment will come down in this world and will hurt a person's body what's the other option or will hurt your money suddenly you have to pay a large amount of money the roof breaks down somebody sues you somebody bumps into your car you get a 500 shekel fine for walking without a mask or whatever nonsense it is but nevertheless sometimes the punishment can come in money o shalom and sometimes it's even worse it doesn't hurt your body it hurts your kid's body and sometimes a kid can certain things and what i would think of if i was about to do a certain scene i would think of two things that caused me to kind of like back off and i would think maybe if i'm doing the scene right now it can hurt one of my kids oh so i was like no no no no no i i i'm not gonna i don't want to do this sin so i would to think of two two individuals that would stop me from doing a sin my kids and my mom and my yetzeratov will tell me don't do this sin right now your kid can be affected or your mom can be affecting they were like no okay i don't want to do it but the reality is ram doesn't say your mom rambam says your kids but it's good to have in the back of your mind wait a minute i can sin right now and somebody else that i like a lot is going to get the slap to their face so one needs to think about that now where do we know that when i do a sin my child can get affected then it says it says in the torah in the book of ibrahim chapter 24 verse 16 it says each man shall be put to death for his own transgressions so from that rambam learns that a person can be affected and also his kids yes so up until now he talked about that sometimes the punishment will come in this world either will hurt the person's body other will hurt the person's kids or will hurt the person's money which usually by the way this is not rambam says but many great books of musa explain to you that when you do a sin they can the kalosh who wants to give you a hint first he will hit your money you'll get a ticket somebody will break something that you cost you a lot of money and it will go and increase first fifty dollars then five hundred dollars then twenty thousand dollars to hint you don't get the hint and it will go to the body and the body will start getting hurt two three four hints a person doesn't get that then a person shalom will become very very ill but here he also says the same thing sometimes the punishment will come in this world which you know it's better to come in certain sin that you get punished in this world and in the world to come and i'm saying they're all to come he says by the way this is just saying is a side note means the next world now when we say the world word people imagine the ulam about the world to come after mashiach comes after we leave this world but here he talks about the translation is the next world what's the next world after this world it's when you die so whether you go now to a good place or a bad place it's irrelevant but that's the next world that's what he's talking about when he says a person will die the body dies no long as you didn't do chuba which means if you didn't do chuba just know that there's going to be a punishment either in this world or in the next world but if like a partition and and you don't get punished he uses the word poor no to the translation of the word is calamity so the chuva is stomping from any calamity to happen the the trooper becomes like you build the wall and now you're protected the same way that you sin because of your own desire and your own will you wanted to sin nobody forced you to know the same way if you do chuva from your own will and your own desire then he tells me you see that guy over there because of me he observed shabbat i was like wow you see that couple over there because of me they keep family purity i was like wow you must be a superman and because of you and i didn't feel right to tell him who do you think you are because of you you maybe inspired the person you maybe guided them you taught them the guy puts feeling on every day because he wants to put fill in not because you made anything okay i'm not going to take any honor and respect from you you probably inspired the person you probably sat on his neck like here put filling on when the guy wakes up in the morning they put philemon because he wants to put feline on so you can't take credit for i did that okay i'm not taking away from your hard work that you inspired the thing with the sins or doing good therefore he's kind of closing the circle by saying listen you have free choice to do good or to do bad and when you do good you get rewarded and when you do bad you're going to get punished and when you do bad you still have the option of doing chua and if you do chuma then the bad will be removed and you're not going to get punished end the story very very simple so to conclude these tools is yes we do have free choice nobody's forcing you to do anything i know you have a yetzera and i know you have desires and and lusts but you still have common sense to do one plus one and to make your own decision and if shalom you still failed then just know that you also have free choice to do chuva nobody is forcing you to do chuva and nobody's stopping you from doing chuba you might not get assistance from above but you have the key to the gate of chuva whenever you want to and don't say it necessarily will be so easy but you can still choose to do good into the as long as you're in this world once you leave to the next world that's it the case is adjourned you can't do anything anymore unless you left behind a whole legacy that they work for you after you leave the world but other than that your chivas when you're in this world and take advantage of every moment because somebody just now they told me isn't it easier just to do chuba right before you die that's the most ignorant approach how do you know when you're going to die yeah of course it would be the easiest to do a week before you die but who tells you your death date you don't
