and I was thinking what song to play for y'all and I thought I know let's challenge myself to remember words of a song I haven't played forever I haven't played in a long time it's called my letter in the Torah and what it's about is that every person has a letter maybe every Jewish person has a letter in the Torah and it's considered like your special connection to the Torah letter to the to letter in the Torah isn't necessarily a um it's not necessarily like a a literal thing that you have a letter that's your letter in the Torah although it might be what it what it means is like your portion of the Torah what's your connection CU we all connected to the whole ter but there's it's definitely like a connection to a specific thing in ter that's your connection also it's said that there are um 600,000 root Souls of the Jewish people and there's 600,000 letters in the T so obviously if there's how many million Jews there's let's say there's 14 million Jews and there's 600,000 root Souls so that means means that we're all branches of those root cells like uh if you ask your phone you can ask your phone what's uh service right now you have service I on my phone any the math would be what's 14 million divided by 600,000 and then you'd have like you'd understand how many could be Roots versus branches but it's you know we're all we're all part of this like Soul Thing and each one of us has a letter in the now there aren't really 600,000 letters in the Torah but there's close to 300,000 letters and the white space between the letters is also considered its own Torah did you know that that the white space is its own Torah did you know that if two letters are touching each other the whole Tor SK is not Kosher you know why because it's impinging upon the white the white Torah meaning it means that the white the letters that are the negative space of the Torah the white is because we're looking at it as black pain black being written onto white but there's the white being written onto black in which is called the um in fancy language is called the negative space but it's also holy and it's it's um it can't you can't have two letters touching because now the black his is messed up the the sorry the white Miss anyway each one of us has that letter in the Torah and if also is a Tor score kosher if it's missing a letter well one missing letter means the whole thing's not Kosher yet until you fix it and put that letter back in the whole Torah is not Kosher so a nice way of saying that is if one Jew isn't keeping your Torah it's like the whole Jewish people are not keeping T so rather than buying yourself ,000 pair of the filing maybe buy you know several $500 Pairs and you use one and give out the others to Jews that will commit to putting them on so that you're to filling is complete because our our to filling is only as complete as our as everyone else is is fulfilling this commandment together so we're we're all uh connected to each other in a deep deep deep way and also you got to be super careful maybe you're one of maybe you're more of a root than a branch you understand so like like if I had a circle with all kinds of branches coming off and each branch is another soul of a Jewish person what if I'm one of those what if I'm a root how much more so do I have to be careful for those people who are stuck hanging out off you know my appendages like how much more careful do I have to be with how I'm doing mid us so it's a different level of seeing yourself like how do you know you're not a root maybe you're a root maybe you're one of these root Souls with like a couple hundred Jews totally depending on you you know you don't there's no way to know that so but we should treat our Judaism as if it could be the case that this isn't just about you another way of seeing this is um you know I guess because of all the soul and songs all the rock and roll songs where it's like with all my heart and all my soul you know the that people my heart my soul but um with all my body with all my soul the um the it make people make the mistake of thinking that body and soul is a onetoone relationship you know like a screwdriver is uh is three parts orange juice and one part vodka you know there's ratios there so so maybe there's a half and half you know maybe I'm B one body one part body one part soul but that's a totally lame way of looking at it because your body is finite and definable by its shape and certainly you know it ends here you know and whereas the soul doesn't end anywhere so so your your one part body and your infinite part Soul you get that one part body infinite part soul well think about that's an interesting thought because if you're one part body and infinite part soul and your body is saying it wants a burger but the burger is not so kosher well you don't want to mess things up here you know like you know it's if you're one part body infinite part soul and it's sha it's Shabbat and you just really want to take a drive to go see the movies well that's your that's your body that wants to be you know vegging out to movie um so it's also it puts things in perspective that when you're making decisions in your life you know you you definitely want to um you you definitely want to lean heavy on the soul you know lean heavy on that and there and it's a battle you your brain your actual mental real estate is fighting between body and soul but don't give them equal rights one's infinite in nature and the other one's very fine and so it's it's um it makes much more sense to give Defence to the soul and to tell the body to like chill out and you can always throw the dog a bone by the way you know like I will take you for a beer you know like be become friends you know don't uh don't you over squeeze it man it's going to get you back so hard you won't even know what to hit you so you got to be you can throw the dog a buone you know give it a little uh give it a little surf yeah and this is why it's it's so important to be married because the thing the body wants more than anything else is is obviously its greatest pleasure and uh you know sensory pleasure and so huge mitso to be married huge MIT because uh is that if that part of your life is taken care of so then you you're just now you're properly set up because it's just when you when you throw the dog bone it stops bothering you you understand once it's it's getting what it wants so it leaves you alone so it actually becomes marriage and Judaism becomes really the the beginning of your service of God in a way meaning everything you're doing now is if you're single is just preparing for marriage and but once you're married now your spiritual path really begins because the you know your body's got a place to stay and it's got what to eat and it's got you know you hopefully got a good job and to to pay for it all and all the other desires are basically being fulfilled so now your body can quiet down once your body's quiet now the soul now the soul can glow and and the last thing is that uh is is that you want to keep your body healthy so like for example before you guys came in for a class today I was on the yoga mat and you know I've done nose many situps I don't even know there's no way to keep track of that and and uh did several sets of push-ups I was doing yoga but hey if I'm already in plank you know might as well do a lot of planks you know and if I'm on my back so let's just work over all the core muscles do that part and if I'm on my stomach let's do back muscles you know doing back lifts and stuff so when you do that your body just goes like quiet I don't mean quiet from like the Yater period meaning meaning when your body's in great shape it doesn't make a sound just a sound well think about it if your body's nice and quiet because you're in good shape you're eating right you're everything's moving smoothly your soul be has has you can hear whereas when your body's making a bunch of noise you can't really hear the soul it's hard to hear the soul inner body's just you know oh my feet oh my fungus oh my oh my back oh my head oh my my stomach oh oh my heartburn you know what I'm saying like good love hearing your soul in the middle of a heartburn attack you know you don't hear it good luck you know feeling a shame when your stomach's bloating and you're like you know you're having a gas attack you know you don't hear the Soul at all when you hear that putting on vinegar you clear the room vinegar you putting on vinegar on your toe I hope you and it's um you know westerners like you know Europeans and Americans and all them westerners they would they would have you shoot a lot of arrows in a lot of directions and then just when it finally hits something paint a Target around it as if that's what you wanted you understand just throw a lot of things at the dark board one of them will hit a Target you know or throw a lot of things at an EnV board and then paint a Target that's the way they date you know people have I met like like been married totally the wrong person or dating totally the wrong person I'm like I then I might I figured I might as well get to the bottom of how this happened you know what happened is the person they were dating said they loved them wrong you know cuz someone says I love you it's not means to marry them oh you finally felt loved that's great you know it's a wrong person so I I had a actually I had a a guy engaged to a gentile oh he said Shalom oh cool so um actually had a a guy in my class engaged to a gentile who announced from the back of a large class that he's engaged to a gentile so I said okay this guy's going to be definitely the sacrifice of the class so we're going to sacrifice this guy he's already engaged to save everybody else so anyway so so he says um he announces to the glass that he's engaged so I said oh so we got a killer and he says that was a joke but no one in the class thought it was joking um so we got a killer he says you have to kill me first oh we love her that's so sweet and he says I love her with all my heart the whole class like oh oh he all think he should marry her H the class like yeah he loves her it's true love and I look at the guy back in class I'm really going to roast this guy me this guy's about to go right onto the grill so I say to him and he fell right into my trap I said to him tell me what is it you love about and he says he he quickly like list like seven things like there was nine things I nine things he loved about so I I like quickly took out my pen on the Whiteboard and I was just writing down at least the subject of every single thing of the reasons why he loves her and and he felt perfectly in the Trap I put the word me either before or after every single word he said she loves me she takes care of me she cooks for me she makes me feel good she makes me feel handsome she makes me she supports me she's she listens to me the whole class was like totally baffled like you know he was baffled he didn't know what when I put the word me on the board they were like so I look at the class and he said who does he love what do you think they all said so they all s himself and I said no he hates himself and she is the Band-Aid for all of his wounds he's using her to feel better about himself he feels like a bunch of garbage and he's using this woman using to feel better about himself till you're okay with yourself you can't love anybody that's what the Torah says only in as much as you love yourself can you love anybody and I'll show you it even more mathematically you want to hear it really mathematically let's say you love yourself with seven not bad seven then you only hate yourself with three because love and hate you know there's no like neutral here you know you love yourself at seven you hate yourself at three can you can't love past to seven I mean you can't love someone past to seven you know why because that person you're trying to love over there could expose those three things you could get exposed to the exactly the stuff you so want do not want getting exposed so you're going to love very carefully if you love yourself a for and you hate yourself as six oh everyone you meet is dangerous you're a balloon and everyone you meet is cactus you know it's like whoa you know stay away from that one you know curve around that one you're like navigating around Cactus needles if you love yourself a four and a four I would consider good you know most people I mean at least westerners have very little love of themselves and a lot a lot a lot of hate if you love yourself a nine that's great but there's still a one where you got to be careful with people you get the math you love yourself at 10 which is what you should because God created you he clearly wants you here you know he's he's uh you're one of a kind you're super special he said World War II is on the horizon that must be elov yeah well they don't call you El noia for nothing sir sorry Prophet but the um anyway the if you love yourself a 10 which is the only logical thing if you read the Genesis you're created the image of God like why would you love yourself any less than what God loves you right and you're made of him he put you he blew his soul into you you know you're going to love yourself less that 10 well once you love yourself ATT 10 well then you can love other people like you believe me if you ask me what I love about my wife I would not come into the equation it would be 100% about my wife you get what I'm saying I'm very appreciative of all the things she's done for me and does and will do very appreciative but it's her that I love not myself through her as a bandaid over all the wounds of all the hate that I have inside about myself towards myself you get it so this guy totally fell into my track and so when when the class was over I was walking in CL the whole rest of the class was what I'm talking about now the whole rest of the class was about hating ourselves and and that wasn't even the subject class sub class was supposed to be about like the history of cabala but this guy at the beginning of the class forfeited his information that he was engaged to agenda I don't even know what he was thinking it God saved this guy because listen what happened next when the class ended so I already completely roasted this guy so I was leaving with all the students kind of my head now hopeing not to deal with this guy you know cuz I really killed him and but just as I get to the door I hear the words Rabbi no like yeah and he's like can we talk I'm like well moment way to teach another class but we can have a meeting how's 4:00 4:00 he was sing there he gave up his engagement flew back to America dropped his engagement today has a beautiful feel keeping the ter yeah this guy this guy really uh did it you know amazing we got another interesting same order ra it's a two yeah that's a three yeah Ro to desire why because if someone's running desire something he clearly wants something if we saw someone running we don't we have no doubt that another word yesh what happens at a Yesa yeshivas were grown men who really should be making a living but our society lets them take time out from shooting arrows everywhere to just pull in the arrows and just sit sit and think sit and consider sit and develop sit and and figure out what you want because wanting requires investigation how I supposed to know what I want I can't just run I run in random directions that's Edom that's westernism that's that's America that's Europe is to just run randomly that's a western thing Jews are you know there one of the secrets of Jews is is don't run so fast like better I'd rather see you think for 10 hours and run in One Direction than run in 10 directions for 100 hours better just to sit and figure out where you want to go and then go there but go year out take two years out take three years out if you're in your late 20s take one year so at least you saw the whole Jewish calendar from the achievement perspective so at least you got I meet people who have only got to go to Yesa for like eight months and when you when you see them in their lives like eight months of the year they know exactly what's going on in Judaism four months year they're lost because they never got to experience it miva you know where they so I always say that if someone's got if someone's taking time out of their life to do it to go to Yesa they should um go for a year even though that's a huge sacrifice for a working man but take a year just pull in your sales and take a year see the whole calendar so you know what you're doing for the rest of your life and your kids see their father or mother know what they're doing um when someone's already older though like way in the thick of their lives so then 3 months maybe to just sit and figure things out
