welcome to this week's Torah lesson this week's Torah portion is pastures by midvar the question of the week is how do you show pure love to a child so in this week's Torah portion passes by mid bar we learn about God counting the Jewish people and Rashi says why is he counting them he just counted them before and Rashi says because since God loves the Jewish peoples he's always counting them to show his love for them so if that's a simple question really God needs to count the Jewish people to know how many people they are he knows how many people they are and rubber explains a powerful idea he said this follows that when you count somebody so someone that's more important less important behaving not behaving that's the same number you are number one everyone gets ezekual if you look at somebody based on equality this one does this this one knows that but counting expresses the pure innocence of the person that every single one is equal and everyone is loved equally by God pure love now normally what gets recognized accomplishments uh doing great things Etc but when someone just a regular person going through life and living that doesn't get noticed so that's why God counts and keeps on Counting not because he needs to know how many people we are because he wants to bring out and he wants the the the idea that everyone is special should be revealed in an active way so the counting is not to know the total the counting that we should know that we're being counted by God that loves us for Who We Are so the answer the question how do you show pure love to a child by just counting them and recognizing them for who they are not because of some accomplishment that they've accomplished thanks so much for joining us for our weekly Torah lesson this week's Torah lessons dedicated to memory of Baruch Lipa and Cena basara May the souls be elevated right Torah was studying in their memory for more information please see our website khabad swf.org have a great and blessed week
