welcome to this week's torah lesson this week's torah portion is pasha schmoys the question of the week is why do we have an obligation until today to remember going out of egypt so this week's torah portion pasha schmoyes begins the these are the names of the jewish people that are going into the land of egypt so the question is asked they ready they're ready in egypt we already know who came into egypt why is atari repeating it and the medra says because when it says here these are the names of the jewish people that are going to egypt it's actually referring to the redemption these are the jews that are redeemed but the question is redeemed they're right now in the knee-deep of exile the metro says because even though it looks like they're in exile but the redemption already started spiritually and which is interesting because we know that the obligation to remember going out of egypt so there's three times we have to remember it as it says in the talmud one opinion is every single day we have to remember going out of egypt then another opinion is every single night and the third opinion is even when mashiach comes why all three so we know going out of egypt is a spiritual experience as well what does that mean the fact is mistry spiritually is a limited way of thinking a limited way of speaking a limited way of behaving our spiritual obligation is to go out of egypt not to have any limitations holding us back intellectually emotionally physically and our thoughts speech and action we should totally be free and that is the first opinion of the talmud every single day we have to remember not to be stuck in a limited way of operating we have to operate in a way of infinite no limitations no mitzrayim no volume no boundaries nothing that is the first opinion the second opinion is what happens when it's dark when it's night when you're can't get out of yourself you or even then you have to get out of what's holding you back from living free and even when mashiach comes we also have to remember the experience of totally being free but when meshiach comes you're going to need to remember going out of egypt and the rebbe says yes why because going out of egypt the first time we went into egypt was in mitzrayim and the first redemption took place so since it's the first redemption the first is always the most powerful so even though we're going to experience a great redemption when mashiach comes but the redemption of going out of egypt has something powerful because it's the first and to answer the question why do we have to remember going out of egypt till today because going out of egypt being free the strength we get from us in the first redemption from the first going out of egypt and that will allow us to experience the greatest freedom every single day of our lives thanks so much for joining us for our weekly torah lesson this week's torah lesson is dedicated to the memory of barak banari leib shalom and yosef and rachel baslipa where their souls be elevated by the torah we're studying in their memory have a great and blessed week shavua tov for more information please see our website chabadswf.org
