it's time for rabbi mankiewicz weekly Torah lesson a place where life's most difficult questions are answered here with his spiritual perspective and insight rabbi megawatts welcome to this week's Torah lesson this week's Torah portion is partial nowak the question of the week is what happens when you see bad in another person so in this week's Torah portion we learn about God bringing the flood to destroy the world for the bad behavior so he instructs Noah to build the big arc the big tavie and to bring in his family and the animals now when speaks are the animal so the Torah says you should bring in the bahama hatorah the pure animals and then it says a bahama assure a nano taholah which is not pure versus saying directly the animal which is actually impure but the total goes out of its way to say not pure rather than using a word an impurity we find the same concept later on the same Torah portion of Pontius Nowak when Nowak after he comes out when the flood stops when the rain stops and he comes out so after the flood when Noah comes out with his three children so he plants a vineyard and sure enough any plans have been yard he has grapes he makes a high-end and he gets drunk once he gets drunk he falls on the go go's on the floor and he exposed himself so no one has three sons so the Torah tells us that calm his son sees his father's nakedness and he goes and tells the other brothers the other two brothers shaming of it come come dear but when they come do they go walk in backwards with a with a piece of cloth and they cover their father up and the Torah says they did not see the father's nakedness so here you see three children well I'm saw the terrible shame the father was in the other two didn't see it while shantou says what does this mean they didn't see it and the boss Santos is very very simple that when someone is doing something which looks bad or maybe even is bad you have a choice to look at the bad or you have a choice not to see bad why because the Baal Shem Tov says that lie as a mirror why does somebody see bad in another person while shantou says it's because obviously you have that bad and the other person is a mirror and if you see the bad it's because you have the bads obviously if you don't see the back because the other thing you don't have it it doesn't exist in your world so the Rebbe asks a simple questionable what does that mean but someone does something bad so maybe you saw it you can maybe tell the person to try to help the person and their me explains correct if someone does something bad and you only see this an opportunity to help the person so you don't focus our see and focus on the bad the person is doing what you folks all right let's go help this person and only thing you hear is to help the person you only talk about this I'd like to help you in a positive aim that's great but if besides the fact that you're helping but you also see the bad and it and it starts on taking root within you that you actually see the value can talk about the bad that means you have that bad within you so in other words to clarify Derby says if your only purpose is to help the person that's great but unfortunately if you see the bandits because you have the bad within you and here's the basically a beautiful lesson in life when something happens always try to see the positive or ways that you can help but if unfortunate you're seeing the negative don't start talking at the negative and the other person you should really start doing some soul searching and asking yourself why am I seeing the bag what's with me that I'm only seeing the bad things in life so the answer the question is what happens when you see bad in another person it's time to look in the mirror and ask yourself why do I see bad another person what's within me so bad that I have to say that God is showing to me through the other person as a mirror to my life this week's Torah lesson is a memory of baroque and I relayed and ben Yosef may their souls be elevated to the Torah that we're studying in their memory thanks so much for joining us for our weekly Torah lesson for more information on Chabad please see our website [Music] you
