[Applause] it's time for rabbi Minko it's weekly Torah lesson here with his spiritual perspective and insight rabbi Mingo it's welcome to this week's Torah lesson this week's Torah portion is Pasha's negates the question of the week is do we give the fish or teach how to catch fish so in this week's Torah portion Parchman gates we learn about Joseph and his brothers with the brothers after selling Joseph in slavery there was a famine in the land of Israel and they're coming down to Egypt to buy food they don't recognize Joseph Joseph recognized the brothers and he's very nice to them he gives them food he loads them up in their bags some money and all from the way then to a whole scheme he brings them back and he puts them all into jail and he's ready to released one to bring go go bring back the brother Benjamin and the question has asked if Joseph was so nice why is he arresting them all then he says okay you can all leave but he owes her head and he holds one Shimon into slavery and the question I get is is Joseph being this nice crying guy or is he trying to be a monster and put him into slavery they released them and keep one what was the purpose of Joseph doing this that's brought down and Kabbalah he explains as follows Joseph very very much was a kind person and he wanted to be nice to his brothers but he also wanted to give them the opportunity to repent and to do chuhwa for what they did to him so first Joseph goes ahead and does in a very subtle kind way he puts them all into slavery he says he's letting the oldest one moving leave so he can go ahead and bring Benjamin back by doing that what does he what scenarios he reminding them by taking moving out of the picture because when he takes moving out of the picture this is the group that actually sold him because Reuben wasn't there he's taking care of the father obviously Joseph was sold and Benjamin wasn't there so you have the same group again and now they look at each other and if they're a little smart and intuitive they'd say oh my gosh look who's in trouble all of us the ones that wanted to sell Joseph now they still only penny so what does Joseph's do he releases them all exceptional why cuz Shimon was the one that actually was the through man into the pit and he was the one behind trying to sell him he was the active one so again he was trying to highlight him in a nice way remember what happened and this way they'll put the two inches together and they'll have remorse for what he done and they both do true chuva so in other words Joseph was super kind to them because he was gave them food and money but he's even greater kind to them because in a nice way not in a direct way he was trying to reenact the group again they should remember what they did and this way of the Bell to look inwards and do real chula so the answer the question do we give a fish or the we teach how to fish and the answer is we do both we give the fish like Joseph he gave them food he gave their money but you also teach how to teach the fish because you teach people inspire them to do inner work and to do real true love and to create their own relationship with Hashem thanks for joining us this week's Torah lesson is dedicated in the memory of Barack Benari Labe and vinyasas may their souls be elevated by the Torah we're studying in their memory for more information please see our website [Music]
