welcome to this week's Torah lesson this week we're celebrating the holiday of Kaneka so the question of the week is it's going to come Friday night we always like shabas candles and we're also going to light the Kaneka candles and the question is why do we need two sets of candles why can't one set of candle suffice for Shabbat and so we all know that when it comes to serving Hashem it's brought down inal there's two ways to serve hem one way is to elevate the world and the other way is to draw down godliness into the fiber of the world so there's two two types of candles there's the Shabbat candles and the candles that were lit in the temple and those were lit when specifically by day why because the purpose of the shabas candles and the and the temple candles is to elevate the world on the other hand the Kaneka candles when do we light that we light it when it starts getting dark why because the purpose of the Kaneka candles is to draw down godliness into the world and permeate the physical part of the world and that's why we light the candles until all the rebels leave the street cuz the goal of the kanuk candles is to deal with the darkness to deal with the rebels and Elevate them and and matter of fact that's one of the reasons why we light the candles when we light it when it's dark and we put it by the door because the goal is to brighten up the darkness and to bring the light into the world so the answer the question why do we light shabas candles and Kaneka candles because they accomplishing two different things the shabas candles are there to elevate the world and the Kaneka candles are the drw draw down the most powerful light into the darkness of the world thanks so much for joining us for our weekly Torah lesson this week's Torah lesson is dedicated to memory of and may the souls be elevated by tah we studying in the memory for more information please see our website kabar sf.org have a great and blessed week shaba to
