Welcome to this week's Torah lesson. This week's Torah portion is paras and masai. The question of the week is why were the tribes of Ruvane and good allowed to stay outside the land of Israel? So in this week's Torah portions, we read about the tribe of Ruvane and the tribe of God. They had a lot of cattle and they came to Mosher and they said, "Listen, the land outside the land of Israel in the Jordan is great for cattle. We'd love to stay here." So Mosher rebuked them. What do you mean you have to go into the land of Israel? And this is what the spies did. They didn't want to go into land is Israel. But the end made a deal with them. If you go into the land of Israel with the Jewish people and you fight for them, you fight for the land. You go and self-sacrifice, then you can come back and stay outside the land of Israel. So the question is why is that? Why do he still let them allow stay outside the land of Israel? And the answer is as follows. We know that the land of Israel is not only it's good but it's very very good. What does that mean? It's very very good. The problem with the spies was they wanted to live in the world of thought and speech and they didn't want to deal with the physical land. On the other hand, when the tribe of Ruv and God agreed to Mosher's deal that they were going to go and fight for the land of Israel, the physical land, they're going to go and self sacrifice. So obviously they weren't living just in the land of thought and speech. They're willing to go and fight for the physical land of Israel. So once they were willing to go and fight for the land of Israel, so much said, "I get it. I get it. You're not like the spies. You're willing to deal with the land. Okay. So, you have a some technical reason it's better for the cattle than you can go to outside the land of Israel. So, the answer to the question, why was the tribe of Ruvane and God allowed to stay outside the land of Israel?
