Welcome to this week's Torah lesson. This week's Torah portion is paras. The question of the week is why is giving charity so important. So in this week's Torah portion, we have and in the end it says which means Zion is going to be redeemed with mishbra and the captives what? Through charity. So what do we see from here? That charity causes the redemption. And the question is why is charity so important? So the reb explains and he says there's a concept which is called mido connected mid. In other receive help from hashem you want to do charity then you have to go do charity. But then the question is again so why is charity so important? Matter of fact all the mitzvah are compared to charity. So the Reb brings from alterb that he explains in Tanya in chapter 37 that when a person gives money that you work for so you're so when you work for the money you put your whole self into it or if you didn't work for the money and you got as a gift but with that money you can give things that will nourish you. So money represents the whole being either because you put your whole being into working to earn it or because or because you could do something that will give you your life force and therefore when a person gives charity they're giving their whole self away. So they answer the question, what is so powerful about charity? Because giving charity, it creates a total elevation of yourself and of all the mitzvah that you do by giving charity.
