Kfar Aza: Survivor Shachar October 7 experiences, courage, loss & rebuilding after Hamas massacre.

There's the homes that they came and they killed and they murdered people from. If you look right here to the right, right there is Gaza. Right there is Gaza. Right here is Gaza. And right here, look how close this is. So, we're right now we're in Karaza. And if you look to my right, right there, there's the gate. And right across the gate, you see Gaza. Which city is Gaza? >> This is Jubalia. >> Jibalia. And this is exactly the gate that they came and they broke in. >> Sorry. >> Tik Faraza. You can literally How long will How long How long will it take to walk across from Gaza to here? A 1900 meter for young people do it in six, seven minutes. It's too emotional. But he's going to do it for us. >> Um I'm been in my house with my wife, a dog. uh and we go inside the safe room in 6:30 and we was sure that the army save us in no time but uh it didn't happen. We've been in the safe room. Uh we heard the terrorists around the house. We know that we got terrorists very close to the house. And in this time uh my next door neighbor that is a good friend of mine asked me if I can find his wife because she didn't answer the phone. I took with me a knife and go outside. In the way to the house, I saw a few tourists that didn't see me and I find mirror after she been murdered. Now I have to come back to my wife and to tell her that her best friend been murdered and we have to decide if we're going to fight or not. And we decide to fight for our luck to our house. The terrorists didn't go inside. They sitting on our porch most of the day and most of the night drink for our fridge. But in this time I was going out twice. One to look after my next another neighbor of mine and I saw it after she been murdered. She was 85 years old. And I saw a terrorist that I thought they are Israeli soldier because they was on a IDF uniform. But second before I called them, I saw that they got AK-47. We've been in a safe room uh almost 30 hours. Um the army come take us in 11:00 in Sunday noon and in a second it's everything changed. you know in the minute that you are outside you felt safe again. We tried to come back home in the same day but the army didn't allow us. So it's take us almost 8 weeks to come back home and since uh 10 of December 23 we are back home. Uh for many months we was two people and a lot of soldier, two civilian and a lot of people, a lot of soldier. And what we decide to do after we've been outside of the kibut for two two months and when we come back, we decide that we're going to feed the soldier and we open in our house every day our barbecue for the soldier uh for many months uh four, five times a week. We thought 10 20 people will come every day. We got days of more than 200. >> Wow. >> We still doing it on a uh three times a week. Uh in Monday we do barbecue lunch and in Wednesday we do a Israeli evening dinner. And in Friday night, we always got a Shabbat dinner uh for people that live only in a kibuts and only people that been here in the seven. Usually it's a a friend of us. This is one of them. >> Ken. If you look closely, you can see where these houses were totally attacked, bombed with grenades, etc. We're we're in Karaza here. And in this house two people the boyfriend save his girlfriend after he holds the end and got few bullets and his girlfriend take him to a run to the other side of the kibuts. In the way she got another one or two bullets but in the end both of them alive and both of them coming back to live with us in this kibuts. So this is a fortunately for this day it's a happy ending. Wow. And what's in this house here? >> The house of Sivan. Uh Sivana and her boyfriend been murder. Um the mother and the father ask everyone that came here to go inside and to see. It's a small exhibition inside of pictures that the mother take after the seven. So you can go inside. It's also in English in this point. So you can read it and understand how Okay, we have with us Shakar who's going to give us an overview of exactly what happened October 7th. He was here and he's going to give us a live interview. Um it start with a barrage of missile and then a group of terrorists came by power glider and land inside the kibuts and and immediately start to kill and uh later on after a few minutes another 80 terrorists go inside and concrete the kibuts. our civil defense unit um 15 14 guys save the kibuts and seven of them pay the dearest price. They get killed in the seven and few of them wounded but in the end they save the kibuts and they fought bravely but they fought against too many terrorists. Um when the army arrive he push the terrorists out it takes them 4 days and in the meantime they take us out. Uh it's a process that take day and a half. So people been in the safe room between 15 to 37 36 hours until the army takes them and uh after we've been taking out most of us been not in hotel for next year after a year in hotel right now we are in kibuts called Wukama h waiting to finish to renovate and to build the kibuts and then we come back we hope that we can come back h in the end of 26.
