Welcome to this week's Torah lesson. This week we are celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), and the question of the week is: What is the most important part of the Feast of Tabernacles? As we prepare this week to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles , there is a lot going on . We have the tabernacles, we have the four types, and we have the festival of joy and celebration. What is the true essence of the Feast of Tabernacles ? The rabbi explains something very powerful based on deep teachings in Kabbalah, which is that everything in Judaism goes back to its source. For example, on New Year’s Day ( Rosh Hashanah) there is a lot that happens, but what is the one commandment for New Year’s Day? Blowing into the horn. On the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), there are many prayers, but what is the one commandment for the Day of Atonement? It is the incense that the high priest used to offer in the temple. What is the Feast of Tabernacles? The Feast of Tabernacles is entirely about unity. That all the people of Israel should be able to sit under one canopy, as the Talmud says, every Jew should be able to sit under the same canopy. And when the Messiah comes, it will be the same. So, in other words, the Feast of Tabernacles is about unity. Unity with yourself, and unity with your family, friends, and community. The Feast of Tabernacles is about unity. If you want to get into the canopy, you need the unit. The umbrella represents that because everyone is sitting in one umbrella. The next goal is to integrate this unit internally. You take “ Lulav”, “Etroj”, “Hadasim”, and “Aravut ”, and absorb them into all areas of your life and with all people, and embody that true unity. The rabbi said something very powerful. We know that alcohol makes people happy. Water, however, is neutral. But it is said that during the Feast of Tabernacles, there was something called "Samhat Beit HaShoeva". They were happy and celebrating because of the water being poured. Why? Because when you have unity, the water itself will make you happy. Unity, then, is the answer to the question: What is the main commandment of the Feast of Tabernacles? Unity. If you have unity, you will receive the greatest and most powerful blessings. Thank you very much for joining us for our weekly Torah lesson. This week's Torah lesson is dedicated to the memory of Solomon. And my parents, may their souls ascend through the Torah that we study in their memory. For more information, please visit our website , and most importantly, Happy Sukkot. I wish you a unified Feast of Tabernacles, and you will receive the greatest blessings not only during the feast, but for the rest of the year and throughout your life. happy holiday.
