welcome to this week's Torah lesson this week we're going to be celebrating the holiday of sukot and the question of the week is what is the significance of the Suka the covering that has to have more shade than Sun but still you have to see the stars and also the four species that we take onot so we all know reference it says in the Torah that God is going to appear Through The Dark Cloud and that's the way Hashem gets revealed and like it says in Psalms which means God made the darkness his screen which means that the secrets of the secrets is in the real concealment and through the real concealment you're able to connect I'll say it in Hebrew to the this powerful light that cannot be internalized or the light that cannot come directly and it comes to a an indirect way and what happens is that we draw down the the um the clouds through the service on through the T through the incense which is basically re which is which is through smell and that brings in the mo of and how is that made it's made from the 11 spices why 11 that's to elevate 11 Unholy energies and it's the idea is to elevate it to the highest level of God is one without counting any levels now in order to bring the powerful energy into the Suka so you need more shade than sun because why because the sun even though the sun is shielded by by the name of Elohim but the fact is it's a concealment which is connected to revelation we need shade we need something that's so concealed because through the greatest concealment that's how you have the greatest Revelation now why do we need the stars because the stars represent the eighth Heaven which is above all the levels and we want to bring it from that level as well and since we're dealing with these powerful energies that come through the concealment and from the eighth level it has to be internalized and the way we internalize is by taking the four species and that allows all these powerful energies to be internalized within us thanks so much for joining us for our weekly Torah lesson this week's Torah lessons dedicated to memory of May their souls be elevated by Torah was studying in their memory for more information please see our website kabad sf.org or our YouTube channel and I want to wish you all we should have a happy sukot with a lot of joy and a lot of Celebration
