Holiday of Shavuot Chasidic Torah thought from Lubavitcher Rebbe by: Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz

Welcome to this week's Torah lesson. As we're getting ready for the holiday of Shavuot to receive the Torah, the question of the week is, what power do we have and where do we have the power from? So, there's a powerful teaching in the tractate Shabbat in reference to the holiday of Shavuot. We came to receive the Torah. So, the Jewish people said, "Na'aseh v'nishma." We're going to do whatever Hashem wants and then tell us what you want to tell us. So, right away, the angels came down and they put two crowns on top of every single Jewish person. Now, the Midrash actually says that there were three crowns. One, God took and put it on his own head that the Jewish people made. And the other two crowns that the Jewish people made, the angels put on the Jewish people's heads. And the question is, it's before Matan Torah, before we received the Torah. How did we have the power to go ahead and make these crowns? And why did we receive them? And the Rebbe explains, because yes, even though it was before Matan Torah, but nevertheless, every Jew has a soul, which is a a part of God that God gave within us. And because God gave us the power, we have the power when we accept and we do what God wants to reach the highest level of making crowns where God actually puts it on our head. So, the answer to the question, where do we have the power? We have the power from God giving us a godly soul. And with that power, we can do amazing things, accept the Torah, study the Torah, and live the most amazing life. Thanks so much for joining us for our weekly Torah lesson.
