Ethics from our Fathers Receiving the Gift Chasidic Torah thought Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Minkowicz

Welcome to this week's Torah lesson. This week we're going to learn a powerful insight on Pirkei Avot that we learn between Pesach and Shavuot and some people actually learn it throughout the whole summer. And the question of the week is why focus on receiving the gift versus the giving of the gift? So this week we're going to learn from Pirkei Avot where the mission opens up and it says Moshe kibel Torah miSinai. Moshe Rabbeinu received the Torah from Sinai. And the Rebbe asks a simple question, but God gave the Torah. Why aren't we focused that God gave the Torah to Moshe Rabbeinu? And the Rebbe explains and he said something very powerful. Our work in this world is to elevate the world, to elevate the holy sparks of tohu that scattered all over the world. And because our main work is to elevate the sparks, so therefore this mission which speaks about when we receive the Torah is placed in the section of damages to show us that we have to yes, we have to fix our a broken world. And it's also in in the mission of the Mishnah of Avot where it speaks about transforming our emotions cuz we have to transform ourselves. So the answer to the question, why do we focus on the receiver? Cuz it's all about kibel. When you receive something, what are you doing with it? And we need to focus on transforming and elevating the world with the beautiful gift that Hashem gave us. Cuz Hashem can give us many gifts. If we don't do anything, what's the point? And the point is that we receive it, we work with it, we elevate the world, and we transform the world. Thanks so much for joining us for our weekly Torah lesson.
