cigarette you have a small sip maybe here and there you're not acting as hungry as you did 5 minutes ago before the fast was over take your time but if you're alone bored then you're acting like uh you're starving you never ate before but the thing is though is that every one of us needs to ask ourselves did we really achieve the point of the fast you fasted said you didn't eat the whole day you didn't drink all day if it's Yip you didn't shower it's a very uncomfortable day in a world that was in this generation built just to comfort you it's unusual it's unusual feeling to be uncomfortable in past days if you talk about the times of our grandparents and of course any time before that being uncomfortable was normal if you wanted to go to the bathroom you had to sometimes run out of the city right outside of the borders of the city to go to the actual bathroom because the would have it really far away from where the city was because they didn't want it was a hole in the ground they didn't want the city to be infested with the smell and all the germs and so on and the days of thear of course uh you see that there's stories of how they actually had to run away from the city where to go to the bathroom but this wasn't just 2,000 years ago this is even 100 years ago in some cases of course Plumbing advanced in 2,000 years but the point I'm trying to say is that being uncomfortable was very much normal part of daytoday life in today's world being uncomfortable is uncomfortable it's unusual because everything we do is for convenience if you g if you want a business it's not a normal feeling because you wake up in the morning you press a button coffee is made you press another butt the shower is already warming up the water for you whenever you're ready you can go inside you press another but another button the uh the car is warming up in case you live in a cold town just press buttons you press another button you see the news what happening in around the entire world entire world not just in your community your neighborhood your synagogue the entire world one but you know what's going on in the entire world in one one sentence Dow Jones up 500 points couple of days after you smoke you don't care about that you don't pay attention to what you do with your hands you do other stuff you write you I don't know press the buttons like everybody else there's nothing wrong with it you text you do something you tweet so but we got used to it we got used to it we got used to a life that's full of buttons and full of things that are convenient to such an extent that we think it's normal it's normal that if you press a button you know the world news it's normal if you press a button the coffee is made it's normal if you press a button the car turns on and all of these thousands of pieces of equipment that are put together all move simultaneously and make the engine go and you get to your place within five minutes it's normal so when you can't do that anymore at least for 25 hours or 24 hours or in today's case what is it the 15 hours it's unusual it's uncomfortable so you finally survived you reached the end of the fast the whole day you're thinking about food when usually barely you barely have one meal you survived the fast but then we arrive right now and we all have to ask ourselves a question did we achieve the point of the fast does God actually care whether you eat or not God doesn't go to sleep God doesn't fast so does God care whether you eat or not if he cared whether you eat or not then he would say you have to fast all year don't ever eat or he would tell you have to to fast once a week if it's so important to fast fast once a week Shabbat once a week fast once a week you ate overtime on Shabbat Sunday should be a day of fasting probably be healthy too as much as we eat on Shabbat people increase their body weight 5% a week just on Shabbat so if if fasting was so important fast every Sunday the answer is no
