I have one responsibility.
My responsibility is to serve Hashem.
That's it.
My responsibility is to do my job. He
said study, I'm studying. He said give,
I give. He said do something, I'll do
chesed, I'm going to do chesed. He said
pay attention, I pay attention. He said
watch your eyes, I watch Whatever
Hakadosh Baruch Hu said, it's in my
power to do it, I'm doing it.
If he said it, of course it's in my
power to do it.
A loving father is not going to tell you
to go
lift the car on top of your head if he
knows that you can't do it.
Everybody knows that.
If he tells you to go lift a car on top
of your head, either it's because you
can do it or because he hates you. Now,
Hakadosh Baruch Hu loves you. If he
hates you, trust me, you wouldn't be
here. David Hamelech says is a simple
solution to all your problems.
Do what you're supposed to and believe
that Hashem is going to give you
success. That's it.
What's success? Success is what you
want? No. Success is that you're going
to at least feel fulfilled that you've
done your job.
Success is not necessarily that you're
going to attain what you hope to attain.
Success is that you are going to feel
fulfilled that you've done something.
You've done your best. You left
everything on the field.
This was one of the things that I
remember as a kid that was an athlete.
And one of the things that the coach
used to tell us all all the time, leave
everything on the field.
Meaning, all week you practice, all week
you run nonstop, and you lift weights,
and you do this, and you do that, and
you sweat in the heat, but in that case
it was outside, here it's inside, Baruch
Hashem. You do all these different
things
to put it, you know, to so game day
arrives on Sunday,
you win.
But the reality everybody knows is at
least a 50% chance you're not going to
win.
But what does a good coach tell
his student?
He says, "Listen,
put it all on the field.
Meaning, try your best. That's all you
can ask from a person.
You can't ask for a person to do
something above his best.
You can't ask a person to do something
supernatural.
Do your best.
If you do your best,
everybody will be happy with you,
especially you.
But if you don't do your best,
not only is everybody going to have
something to say about you,
worse yet, you are never going to
forgive yourself.
Because you know deep down inside, you
could have tried better.
