evening everyone okay excellent firstly
thank you all for inviting me and
unknown and uncredentialed individual to
come and share so it's been built as a
debate but we're not enemies and indeed
I have been inspired by watching many of
Rabbi Tobias and broadcasts however I'm
hoping that we all learn something from
both speakers my emphasis throughout my
life is well throughout my adult life at
the age of 20 I became a Christian and
recognized that to be a Christian I have
to understand the Word of God not just
the New Testament but the Old Testament
as well and so what I'm hoping to do is
to provide a bridge between both
communities because as believers in a
creator we are unique as believers in a
book that the creator's provided for us
to an extent one part believes one or
two thirds the other part tends to
believe a third I hope to bridge the gap
between us so let's ask the question and
hopefully answer it is Jesus Yeshua the
Messiah so my journey is an interesting
one I'm gonna talk about my journey I'm
going to talk about Delta chapter 9 I'm
gonna look at prophecies both prophecies
predicting what the Messiah would do
what the Messiah did and one of the
processes that he gave I will then look
at one particular attribute of the
Messiah the light to the Gentiles and
why they had to be a messiah very often
we asked him in this ayah the answer is
yes or no I will also present why there
had to be a messiah so let's get started
Bible study is the study of the Bible
there are many methods and departments
none is without value study the Bible
there is tremendous value to you all of
them when done thoroughly rather than
superficially tend to a deepening of
conviction as to the accuracy of the
Scriptures that we have so my journey
why is it that I can address Rabbi
Tobias question if Daniel chapter 9 is a
prophecy of the Messiah why is it
there's no reference to it in the New
Testament so my journey about five years
ago I was studying along with a lot of
people in the church I attend the book
of Haggai and in my particular Bible
which I've left in my bag somewhere it
says in the introduction to Haggai and
you probably can't see that very well or
maybe it's because
in the front pants thank you very much
so it says in each lectured a guy that
it was written about 520 BC and there's
a note that says and you can see it just
there it's been several years since the
rubber ball and Joshua led the first
return of the exhaust to Jerusalem to
rebuild the temple of God introduction
to Haggai now I was really quite
confused because if 520 BC is after
zerubabbel then something strange is
going on so I went to the book of Ezra
and in the book of Ezra again in my
Bible you can check it later it says
it's written between 457 and 444 BC now
457 BC if BC begins here is not is not
it so confusing which way around it so
this one is supposed to be after Ezra
but you can see Ezra according to the
notes produced by the biblical scholars
is after Haggai so something strange is
going on and I decided you know
something the only way to understand
these biblical chronologies is to go
from the beginning and so I spent two
years growing through the genealogies of
the Old Testament starting with Adam and
Seth at 130 years and I produce this
enormous chart that's just a little bit
of it and as I was going through I
discovered some amazing things one of
which is the answer to that question
about Daniel 9 so let's look at Daniel 9
prophecy Daniel 9 verse 24 27 T weeks
are determined upon thy people these are
Daniels people these are the primary
audience I guess the the Jewish people
and the point my holy city to finish
transgression to make an end of sins on
the next slide you'll see each of these
itemized so I'll jump to 25 because
we're gonna go back to those know and
know therefore and understand that from
the going forth of the commandment to
restore and to build Jerusalem on to the
Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks
and threescore and two weeks so it
starts with seventy weeks in verse 24
and then goes on to
Messiah the Prince so you probably can't
see that very well unfortunately so on
the left hand side nine twenty four
seventy weeks for thy people for the
holy city to finish transgression to
make an end of sins to make
reconciliation for iniquity to bring in
everlasting righteousness to seal up the
vision and prophecy and to anoint the
most holy
so my people
well acts 1346 sure Showell Paul says
that since the Jews were taking the
message of the Messiah as nothing then
they were going to turn to the Gentiles
acts 1346 the second one seventy weeks
upon the holy city destroy the temple
I've got a reference for that until the
next slide to finish transgression
Messiah was betrayed and in Luke 23
verse 4 1323 the transgression the
betrayal of Yeshua or Jesus if he's the
Messiah occurred to make an end of sins
in John 19 verse 30 Christ on the cross
declared it is finished five to make
reconciliation for iniquity
first Corinthians 5:7 Christ is our
Passover lamb says Paul to bring in
everlasting righteousness in Hebrews
chapter eight and Hebrews chapter ten
sixteen to eighteen we see the New
Covenant described and finally to seal
up the vision no not finally to seal up
the vision and the prophecy all
fulfilled 490 years after service decree
we going to come back to that in a while
and then to anoint the most holy we're
going to find out what the anointing is
when it took place and white significant
so I didn't talk about destroying the
temple and so I will do that next okay
destroy the temple and
I'm just gonna start on the right hand
side so there are three references to
people saying this fellow said he was
going to destroy the temple and build in
three days
now John Christ's closest friend while
on earth in a chapter 2 verse 18 to 21
says verse 19 the Christ was going to
destroy the temple in three days raise
it up again the response from the Jews
verse 20 then said the Jews forty in six
years was this temple in building and
wilt thou rear it up in three days and
then the arter to which temple was
destroyed and rebuilt was in verse 21 is
in verse 21 John two verse 21 but he
spake not of the sanctuary or the temple
Herod's temple but the temple of his
body and again we'll see in a moment why
that is so important there was a
prophecy precisely about this temple
being rebuilt Exodus chapter 25 and
verse 8 let them make me a sanctuary
that I may dwell among them so in the
New Testament talks about our bodies
being the temple of the Holy Spirit in
X's 25 verse 8 let them make me sentry
that I may dwell among them is it the
tent or the temple that God wants to
dwell in or is it in our minds in our
bodies and so in John chapter 1 verse 14
the word was made flesh and dwelt among
us and we beheld his glory the glory as
of the only begotten of the Father full
of grace and truth
so when Yeshua was born and he entered
into a human body
100% man then the sanctuary the temple
of his body
is indeed that which was destroyed or
killed on the cross and then raised
three days later
excuse me so here's the question then
why anointed over lunch I asked rabbi
towba as he's a priest if he was
anointed and he said well no we don't
really have anointing of priests anymore
but you know Christ was anointed so
let's have a look at anointing in the
Torah Leviticus chapter 8 and numbers
chapter 8 how do you anoint a priest
with the anointing oil Leviticus 8 verse
to Leviticus 8 verse 5 this is the thing
which the LORD commanded to be done in
terms of anointing and priests and then
verse 6 abilties 8 Moses brought Aaron &
Sons
and Moses washed them with water in
numbers chapter 8 we get the same Phebe
the Lord spoke unto Moses take the
Levites from among the children Israel
and cleanse them and the shut that door
to them to cleanse them sprinkle water
of purifying upon them so if a priest in
the Torah was anointed by being cleansed
by being cleansed with water by being
washed then
it's just that's just one of the things
thank you for the little murmuring at
the end so it's important to understand
that Christ was also cleansed
symbolically yes yes so I'm going to go
off a little bit and then I'm going to
come back to where we were so there is a
change of priesthood and the change of
priesthood according to Paul in the New
Testament is after the order of
Melchizedek
Melchizedek so in Genesis chapter 14
verse 18 Melchizedek brought a king of
Salem brought bread and wine to Abram
and he took the bread in chapter 22 of
look gave thanks brake hit game on to
them saying this is my body which is
broken for given for you this do in
remembrance of me verse 20 likewise
after likewise also the cup after supper
saying this cup is the cup of the New
Testament in my blood which is shed for
you
so Melchizedek brought bread and wine to
Abram Jesus Yeshua said the bread was
his broken body the wine was his blood
and so there are seven references in the
book of Hebrews to Jesus being a priest
after the order of Melchizedek so Accord
to pour the transition from the
Levitical priesthood to the priesthood
that was earlier than the Levitical
priesthood is that of Melchizedek so who
blessed Abraham
it was Melchizedek without father or
mother but actually we know well I know
who the father I don't know the mother's
name but I know who the mother is of
Melchizedek but that's for another time
so there has been a change of priesthood
Jesus Yeshua was anointed
and he was baptized by John the Baptist
so although John was reluctant to
baptize him Jesus said you know it's
important that he baptize me to fulfill
all righteousness so he recognized that
to become a priest you had to be
ordained or cleansed in order to become
a priest and in that John the Baptist
was a a son of Zechariah of the
Levitical priesthood and his mother
Elizabeth was also of the descendant of
Aaron John the Baptist a 19 Jesus is
effectively passing the priesthood on
now I didn't get this for myself about
27 years ago a Messianic Jew Dick Reuben
who has a series of videos shared that
and I found it really quite interesting
but there's still something more that we
need to get to and that is we're looking
at prophecies being fulfilled what is
the most important prophecy in the
Jewish Bible okay that's that's that's
that's that's it's only a prophecy and
it's certainly very important but I
think there's one that's more important
I'll give it clue two in the Book of
Jeremiah
yeah the new covenants you see the
reason why this is so important is what
is it that really captures the essence
of Judaism and where did it really start
was it not the deliverance sure it
started with Abraham but wasn't the
deliverance from Egypt and in that the
giving of the Ten Commandments is part
of that first covenant the prophecy was
Jeremiah 31 verse 31 behold the days
come saith the Lord that I will make a
new covenant with a house of Israel and
with the house of Judah
so not just Jews Judah but Israel at
large now of course the comment that I
made with their fathers in the desert
and by the hand to bring them out of the
land of Egypt which my covenant they
break although I was a husband unto them
saith the Lord so this is important
because that first covenant which is the
covenant that is really what governs for
many of us is going to be changed
slightly and the change is in verse 33
they shall be the Covenant that I will
make with the house of Israel after
those days saith the Lord I will put my
law in their inward part and write it in
their hearts and will be their God and
they shall be my people and they shall
no more teach every man his neighbor so
it's not of the laws done away with no
way it is to be written on our hearts so
jumping forward to Romans chapter 2 and
Romish ups to 7 to 16 Paul says to them
who by patient continuously well doing
so that's something that you do actively
seek for glory honor and immortality
eternal life but unto them that are
contentious and do not obey the truth
but obey unrighteousness indignation and
wrath tribulation anguish upon every
soul of man that doeth evil of the Jew
first and also of the Gentile so Jews
and Gentiles are going to be judged in
the same way
but glory honor and peace to every man
that works good to the Jew first and
also to the Gentile so destruction for
evil rewards for good both Jew and
Gentile
there was no respective person who's God
for as many as obscene without the Lord
shall also post that the law as many as
have sinned in the law shall be judged
by the law 16 so I've missed a few
verses in the day when God shall judge
the secrets of men by Jesus Christ
accord to my gospel so what if I missed
out this is the essence of the New
Covenant not the hearers of the law are
just before God but the doers of the law
shall be justified for when the Gentiles
who have not the law do by nature
naturally do it with things contained in
that all these have not the Law Lords
themselves which show the work of the
law written in their hearts their
conscience bearing witness their
thoughts meanwhile accusing or else
excusing one another so the change of
covenants isn't a change of law but
changing where it's written we when we
break one of those Ten Commandments
written with the finger of God on stone
should be feeling in our heart that
we've done wrong so let's jump back a
bit one of the identify marks of the
Messiah is that he would be a light to
the Gentiles so who in the Old Testament
is the best example of a godly life who
is the best person that people in the
world should emulate and thank you very
much
is he Adam is it Noah is it abram job
Moses David Elijah Daniel well most of
the murderer and all those very very
humble and he was so righteous that God
would speak to him face to face he that
that that murder is not a good example
to follow I would
whoa okay well question time don't write
it down we'll answer that later we are

know and I'd like to hear what floor you
find in Jesus now he makes claims that
you will perhaps disagree with but seems
to be a perfect example so what does yes

he says salvation is of the Jews do you
disagree with that so this person that
you're not accepting as the Messiah says
salvation is of the Jews to actually
believe in the New Testament it's saying
you want to understand the real merits
of keeping the commandments of doing
good you need to understand and study
the life of the Jews who are living the
at least ought to be living it out so
this anointed one anointed by John the
Baptist says to the whole of Christendom
and you'll see in a moment much further
than that salvation is of the Jews and
if a Christian believes the Bible they
should read the Bible when they see that
they should oh I need to understand the
Jews why is this Jewish person saying
salvation is of the Jews and yet many of
the people that we're here from the
front seemed not to agree you know I was
in Laodicea this year I was in ladis in
1992 I wanted to visit all the churches
the book of Revelation seven churches
couldn't find a to see you anyway I went
back to Turkey this year and we've got
Google and Saturn out of them - define

why Christians don't recognize the
importance of the Jews look at this so

in Genesis is true unfortunately later

the timing of the prophecy all the
prophecies of the Bible are true one of
the reasons I am a Christian is because
more than 2,000 prophecies in the Bible
every single one of them true societies
go out to try and disprove something and
they can't find it and they end up
becoming Christians every single
prophecy comes true
so 490 years there is a reference to in
the New Testament but first we were to
go back to Daniel chapter 9 and down
except I was to Daniel is studying the
Book of Jeremiah where the seventy weeks
would come to an end and so you can see
the 70 weeks in red there and in verse
24 we saw 72 determined unto thy people
so the seventy weeks are fourteen ninety
years so we have to try and find the 490
years in the New Testament and for that
I'm going to go to
Matthew Matthew was a tax collector
pretty good at counting and he talks in
verse 17 of Matt chapter one about
fourteen generations from Abraham to
David four generations from David to the
captivity in Babylon 40 nations in
captivity to Jesus and there was a
question asked about did the New
Testament writers write to try to
persuade people verse 13 of Matthew 13
13 and 13 therefore speak I to them in
parables this is Matthew quoting Jesus I
speak them in parables because seeing
they see not and hearing they hear not a
neither really understand Daniel chapter
12 verse 4 seal up the book until the
time of the end so there are things that
are in Scripture that are sealed until
the end of time so are they trying to
persuade or are things written in such a
way that today we are going to see the
connection between that 490 years in the
Old Testament prophecy of Messiah
and in the new testament so having gone
through the Bible and gone to all the
genealogies and counted the number of
generations from David from David to the
captivity they're actually 17 of them 1

- the captivity so in Matthew says 14 he
means something else so 40 generations
what is a generation the Bible speaks
for itself so let's go to the Old
Testament see what a generation is
number 32 13 and the Lord's anger was
killed against Israel and he made them
wandering the wilderness
Halla 40 years until all the generation
that had done even in the sight of the
Lord was consumed Psalm 95 verse 10 40
as long was I grieved with this
generation so a generation is 40 years
the Bible is absolutely fantastic so
now let's go back so 14 times 40 is 562
14 28 - 28 256 add a zero 560 so 560
years is 14 generations now isn't it
interesting that in Daniel chapter 9
verse 2 mentioned 70 years of captivity
verse 24 mentions 70 weeks determines
unto the people an item Messiah destroy
the temple 70 + 490 is 560 so we have
one generation is 40 years 40
generations five-six years exactly the
same period of time as the 70 years plus
70 weeks you know what that means it
means that the 568 period is the period
that coincides with Matthew's fourteen
generations from the captivity to Jesus
now is Matthew doing this so that you
can understand it you try to persuade
you or is God writing it so that if we
search we will find and see that that
prophecy is fulfilled at the time of
Christ I've got two minutes two minutes

so when do they start 70 weeks are
determined know that from the going
forth of the command to restore and
build Jerusalem this is - Cyrus there's
a prophecy in Isaiah 45 verse 1 - the
anointed Cyrus who will subdue nations
and the gates shall not be shut he
fulfills that prophecy aren't you fifty
years later in as we chapter one now in
the first year of Cyrus he made a
declaration that ooh
so first year of Cyrus Keith Persia that
the word of the lord by the mouth of
jeremiah might be fulfilled so daniel
says sorry
the angel Indian line says from the
going forth of the command to restore
and build Jerusalem seventy weeks Cyrus
says in fulfillment of the prophecy of
Jeremiah seventy years the Lord stirred
up the spirit of Cyrus and he said to
the Jews you can return back to
Jerusalem so the 70 years of Jeremiah in
Daniel and in Ezra and it chronicles
32nd chronicles 36 our 70 years and the
declaration Jews can return is the
beginning of the 490 years to the
Messiah so the end of Jeremiah's
prophecies the beginning of a 70 week
prophecy and it means that Messiah must
be anointed sometime during those or yet
by the end of the fourteen 90 years
after Cyrus his decree the Messiah must
be anointed other otherwise the prophecy
is not true and we know that all the
Bible prophecies are true if you want to
understand prophecy must first
understand history so let's have a look
at some prophecies about Christ so
Isaiah 7:14 a maiden shall conceive bear
a son and shall call his name Emmanuel
now what does he manual mean it means
God with us
the the angel that visited Elizabeth
Zacharias wife prophesied of John that
John would be great in the sight of the
Lord
and verse 16 many of the children Israel
shall turn to the Lord their God and he
will go before with a spirit of power of
Elias Gabriel when he came to according
to Luke a virgin and the angel came in
unto her and then Luke chapter 1 verse
31 the angel said to her you shall call
his name Jesus 1 he shall be great two
shall be called the son of the highest
the Lord God shall give unto him the
throne of his father David he shall
reign over the house of Jacob forever
and of his kingdom there shall be no end
now if this is all made up how could
someone make this up nearly 2,000 years
ago and it be so true today is Christ's
Kingdom any smaller
how could such a fraudulent event have
so much weight I need to go to my last
yeah but I've got one minute left so so
there's a prophecy that Christ made in
Luke 21 and I'll just go straight to
verse 24 Luke 21:24 it says they shall
fall by the edge of the sword and shall
be led away captive into all nations
written nil 2,000 years ago and
Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the
Gentiles until the time of the Gentiles
is fulfilled President Trump
6th of December last year contributed to
fulfilling this prophecy of the Messiah
of Jesus Christ
how could well you must at least admit
he's a prophet to be making such an
accurate prediction 200 years ago there
were no Jews in control of Israel that
prophecy has come true it is made by
Jesus Christ who says salvation is of
the Jews I have much more to go into

I should begin by saying that when I was
a young man I never imagined that I'd be
standing on a stage with a Christian
debating whether Jesus is the promised
Jewish Messiah in fact when I was a
young man I never imagined that I would
be interested in helping people around
the world who are in the church to
return back to the God of Abraham Isaac
and Jacob I am very grateful that I
prefer a field that the Holy One blessed
be his name allowed this to happen and
as I got a little bit older I began to
to meet many many many Christians very
fine people and I realize that in fact
people needed to understand about
Scripture because as it turns out
Carlton I thank you very much for
joining us here tonight he has an
opinion about the Messiah abaca about
God's salvation program for mankind
I know there are rabbis they have an
opinion too
but we are not here to find out about
the opinions of men we are much more
interested in finding out what is God's
opinion what does God think about this I
mean after all that's what matters how
would you know how would you know what
God's opinion is about the Messiah
whether we look this up how will we find
it there is only one source and that
scripture tonight is that scripture has
been given to the prophets of Israel and
it's preserved us Thursday and therefore
we will only seek to use our holy
writings of Scripture to the sand what
does the Bible teach what is heaven
honest as I mentioned that was born 15
years after the Holocaust concluded I
grew up thinking that in in Brooklyn
it's hard to tell from my British accent
and it's true till I know you thought
from Ireland you thought not true when I
grew up in bar Rock Brooklyn and I grew
up with folks who were survived
Auschwitz had numbers on the roms and I
grew up around a highly gentrified area
the people who are definitely not Jewish
and certainly did not like me and I
didn't care about them very much as I
mentioned it would be years later that
we'll find out two things I used to
think that Christianity was simply a
mistaken religion they are wrong about
certain very important items but it was
something like Buddhism and some
religion of it and they just have
misconstrued what's going on there
misapprehended it but I thought that guy
um the nations of the world they were
terrible people in my early 20s I
discovered something fascinating and
that is the non-jews that was meeting
these people were very very fine people
and the Christianity was in fact much
more horrific than I ever imagined what
does that tell us what does the Bible
tell us about Messiah what a scripture
saying does these Jewish Scriptures ever
tell us that the Messiah is supposed to
die for our sins it's not there this is
what my Bible says that when the Messiah
comes events will unfold before our eyes
the knowledge of God will cover the
world as a water cover seat Isaiah
chapter 11 verse 9 did that happen 2,000
years ago that was not what unfolded in
fact it was because the destruction of
you schleimann and it was because of the
exile that the Mount of God diminished
was not increased around the world
carlton mentioned earlier that we have
to thank christianity mother's words for
spreading the lights
what would the Jewish people do without
the church how would we ever have
survived I want to give my big thank you
to the church and I want to thank you
because without you I don't know how we
would ever made it thank you for
protecting us that we survived I don't
know how we would ever make it I'm going
to go to the Church of Holy Sepulchre
after I said thank you so much for
thinking for taking care of us all these
