this a tribute to bman of passed on this past week Rabbi Putman as he was known was the head of the laich Youth Organization he replaced Rabbi David Rasin who was the former chairman many many things were done by RAB bman from the six s when he started his work for the laich Youth Organization till today that's probably almost 60 years of work or so and truth be told that my encounters with him personally were minimal nevertheless he was always around you always heard of from him and of course he had the last 10 15 years a remarkable M shabas program where he always told over a story which is the tradition to say a story mat shabas after the chabas at the special event called the malava Mala and then he would share a synopsis of a talk from the rebba from a his work also involved meeting politicians the the mayor the controller of the state of New York he did work and had connections with an Aly so he he was what we would call a maker okay he got around but I I want to talk a little bit about from the inside for us and others us I mean the an butman came from a family a very cidic family they were Rel related to with the scharon his father was of Alman bman and his uncle was R Zalman schne Rabbi putman's older brother who passed on a year or two ago and I made a clip about him and him I knew a little better in in speaking with him he lived in t VI and he was a very special person his name was his name was bbman his two sisters of barem still alive the oldest being rabbitson Le Khan Rabel Khan's wife and another sister Mrs swlo haua with the he haa the known Mrs swlo who's still taking women and uh teenage girls the Baba girls to visit sites in Europe and their Israel holy sites of the God bless her soul to be able to have and her body for that matter to have the K and the strength to be able to to do that in a healthy way so he came from a prominent leich home a home that was not just aidic home but a home that also had connections to theim and the the bman boys and girls were in Paris when the Reba visited in 1947 and they always told stories about it and in fact I think RAB schm bman wrote a book about the Rebus being in Paris in France over the years the lived there from 1933 to 1940 approximately and then later visited and brought his mother back back in 1947 two things stand out connecting with the one the cam the Reba looked at him and happen and I want to share now a little story I was sitting at ab's house AB was by Masia and I was uh kind of a Ben bias there I had the the honor of spending many meals with the and this was a I think it was 2001 or 2000 I think I was married I already was doing my work and for y I would come to cron Heights and I went to to sit with her to eat with them and to hear to hear him his and the two brother-in-laws came in separately the two brothers I'm sorry bman who was there from Mar and when came in I saw this he gave him such a hug they hugged each other they gave aush it was so warm it was so family it it was it was a lesson that I'll never forget a lesson in BR and brotherliness in a true love between that's one thing that I saw then came in and he was already uh kind of intoxicated at least uh very very Lively and happy and he started with uh singing a mashiah song RAB hadn't gotten to the level of uh intoxication or that level of liveliness and I don't know why and I don't want to know why but Abel kind of took a Stern uh react he reacted sternly he says stop with these silliness now believe me believe the msia and everything else trust me okay that's not the point I guess he felt would always say about make yourself silly on Tish and be focused on porm don't be silly on porm and I would say the same thing they would d a normal daving they didn't finish 5: in the afternoon they finished probably 1 2:00 they didn't get drunk during daving and then they they they went around from home to home this is what I was told and they would follow the his R's Uncle and he was very kind of lively uh to the point where he was like you know a little loud and said you know relax calm down take it easy and and and and stop you know playing the game you know again he didn't say those words I'm just telling you me as a as a as a 30 plus year old man the way I picked it up and maybe I got it all wrong and it's fine but I want to look at the positive that AB bman was very committed to publicizing the whole idea that Messiah is coming Messiah is here and things like that okay now he was criticized let's not let's not you know it's very important to be honest or a person's soul returns to Heaven he was criticized for some things but notwithstanding that criticism we're all criticized anyone that's not criticized is not normal okay the point is he kept to what he was focused on what he believed and he and he in his program the SAT M shabas program that I told you about it was between the lines to build the Amun mashia to it should be relevant now cuz that's what the rebba said and I was impressed with that and I feel that not many people have the guts to speak about it publicly andman did so he's back in heaven with the these two things of publicizing
