As We Know
foreign
I'm assume make the the reason all the
arms everything happened in the air is
coming in this coming two days Monday
and Tuesday and we are all all year
round so if you want to cry to the
government to pray to us every time all
day around is only the only the results
of the year what happened on the earth
happened already last year there is now
we went to make a new year so we need to
prepare before the judge you need to
prepare because after a while this is to
make appear is very hard
foreign
and of course Abe Rosenthal
to come to speak to you literally the
last day of elul
and of course less than 24 hours before
Rosh Hashanah
there's a very interesting pursuit in
Amos Amos is one of the navient and it
writes like this
if a lion roars Milo yira wouldn't you
be afraid if you were walking on Main
Street or on Melbourne or any place
around Union Turnpike and you saw a lion
roar everybody would be afraid
so the mafarsham say that the word Arya
which is spelled Olive
stands for eloh Rosh Hashanah yes
these days of el Rosh Hashanah yeah
roaring to us
shouldn't we be afraid
so of course that's the purpose of the
kinos tonight
to bring our hearts to think about
what we have to do to improve and how we
can become elevated
and you know a number of years ago on
call midray night
the rabbi of Mysore raphama Taliban he
already passed away but he asked a very
interesting question he said what is
deposit telling us
if a lion roars wouldn't you be afraid
he said I took my kids to the Bronx Zoo
and they were hearing How the Lion
roared and all they did was laugh and
they wanted to go closer and closer to
the lion and hear how he roared so
what's going on here the project says
and the Bronx Zoo my kids they love to
hear the lion roar and they were
standing and watching
so he said of course the lion was in a
cage and when the Lion's in a cage you
got nothing to worry about right
and then he said something brilliant you
have to see this inside to believe it
if you open up your Sidora you open up
your sukas Maser you know what the last
tefila the last prayer of ashanarama you
know what it is you wouldn't believe it
it should be the will of Hashem
remove that iron bar that cage
that separates us in other words we are
asking Hashem don't be in a cage if we
put Hashem in a cage and we've got
nothing to be afraid of and we're not
going to be afraid and we're not going
to respect and do anything
so much inputs on the cage us in a cage
also there's no connection
so what we have to do is tonight we have
to break that cage and that's the
Thriller that we say at the end of
ashanaraba that we should feel close to
Hashem no cage no separation no barrier
and then if there's no separation oh
Arya is
then we have something to be hesitant
and Afraid about however
everyone here should know that we can
roar back it's true these days Roar to
us but you know what bilham said about
the Jewish people hey
like a long yeah like a young lion we
can get up we can answer
and tonight that's what we have to learn
we have to learn how to answer these
Roars of these days
now the first thing that I think that is
so important
is that every one of us has to know how
to be the perfect Jew
and I'll tell you something very very
interesting
inspector the governor of once said
something on a possic in truma you're
really surprised of all the parsias it's
impartious truma and it tells us how
every man woman and child can be the
perfect Jew and this is how it is he
says he talks about the proven remember
the wings that were on top of the orange
and it tells us
the wings they spread upward
but at bottom of the Wings there were
faces of two little children some say it
was a little boy and a little girl and
the plastic says opening
that their faces faced each other
said the Covenant
said that's what a Jew is all about on
one hand per se cannot find him lamila
he has to return filler his mindset has
to be towards shamayam towards heaven
but on the other hand that's but a
person could never ever forget is
and that's what we have to think about
tonight how can we make it that all of
us should think about not only the
Bernardo Mama
as well
now tonight we've come for a very
specific person purpose
and that purpose is
Tove and the offices of Tove have bought
a building so that there should be a new
women's center now in order for all of
us to grow and to reach our potential we
need a place where we can have shurim
where we can do projects where we can
prepare for the um where there could be
a Jewish Library where they could be
marriage counseling now this building is
beautiful but it's not big enough for
both the men and the women and that's
why people went out of their way to buy
the building next door so that Women's
Center will be able to be a place where
women and girls will be able to come
ashkenazi's party anybody from Queens
anybody from any place and it's going to
become the focal point where women will
be able to grow and Terra your shamayan
now rabbia Victor Miller always used to
say this
and
it is so important you'll see the dioc
that he makes in halal an apostle can
halal
says to Hashem
Hashem please help me
because I am your servant and then he
adds something incredible
why am I your servant then
because I had such a mother I am the
daughter of your maidservant so David
Amela who achieved so much
and he wrote till him and this mirrors
of claw Israel and was a king for so
many years and a leader that we still
followed today why was he who he was he
says I was your servant because I had
such a mother Ben amaseka
and you know what Rabbi Miller pointed
out something very interesting it
doesn't even say his mother's name
wouldn't you want to know his mother's
name
here's the person who made dovet who he
was and it doesn't even mention her name
so I don't know if anybody here knows
her name but it is a Gamora and I'm
going to tell it to you because most
people don't even realize that this is
the name that's a good morning Baba
bastra and it tells us the name of three
mothers that most of us don't know their
names
does anybody know the name of avram
avinu's mother
what I'm telling right I'm right very
good I noticed it's from the women right
well maybe we should build a men's
Center okay okay now what was name his
mother does anybody know that
oh my goodness Tamar you're amazing
again from the women what's going on
here
she's right not seven
and then there's the third one
shimshan's mother does anybody know
children's Mother
slav phones so the three mothers that
none of us know the names well look at
the children that they had
a problem
and slavonus at chimchon but the idea is
why was he the way he was
that was only because of his mother
so I want to tell you a story
what does it mean to have a mother
that is so special
that can affect every single one of us
here tonight
if you don't know the story you will not
believe it
you see this organization here called
khazak
so one time I was asked to speak in
Woodmere at a parlor meeting to raise
funds for khazak
who helped start hazak together with his
brother Yaniv he got up and he told this
amazing story I couldn't believe that he
would tell the story listen to this
you see his mother shashana
and his father Moshe they came from
bukharia
and they got married and they were in
Israel and then they came here to Queens
and they weren't the most religious
people you know traditional
and Elon said that his mother wanted
that Elon Yaniv was too small then at
that time Elon and his other brother
older brother should go to a
Yeshiva
so they lived in Forest Hills and what
happened was some people told them you
know there's a school in Hillcrest that
would be a nice place to go to
she didn't know any difference she comes
into the school
and the first thing Elon said I'm
sitting there and he's still saying this
he said his mother was not impressed
with the rabbi because the rabbi didn't
have a beard
it's okay I was Michelin okay anyhow
she walked around the school and she did
not feel the warmth of Judaism the
warmth of yiddishkite in the school
and she decided no this is not for her
she's not going to send and yet
here they were little little kids
so then she went back to Forest Hills
where she lived and somebody told her
about a school named Ori Israel
the principal at that time was Rabbi
Yoshua or Rabbi Shia guilt seller a tall
striking man with a long flowing beard a
tremendous tremendous
she walked in to the building on
Thornton Street and Forest Hills and she
could hear some kids were singing the
davening another another song another
place they were learning how much she
didn't know what it was but she heard
you know the rebbe and the children
singing and she saw all the great rabbis
on the wall
and she comes into the
office of Rabbi gel cell and Rabbi gel
is talking to her and she says she wants
to bring her son and Yaniv that
they should go to this school
now Rabbi gel Salah started talking to
shashana and he saw you know the kids
don't really have that much background
you know the parents came from baharia
they didn't have an opportunity to learn
any Yeshiva aurobasiakov and obviously
the kids didn't know that much so Rabbi
gel seller said to shashana I just want
to tell you I don't think that this
place is for you because you know in the
beginning some of the rubbish speak
Yiddish and the boys come from a
different background so it might not be
for you and she's beginning to realize
that he's rejecting her voice
and she starts crying
she knew she couldn't argue with Rabbi
gel Salah
but she was so heartbroken that this
Yeshiva that had the rabbis on the wall
and the kids were singing or whatever
and the rabbi looked like mashiach
himself you know he looked like such a
Sonic she was just crying in tears or
coming down her cheeks she didn't say a
word and you know what Rabbi gel Salah
said to her your boys are accepted
he saw the tears of a yiddishamama of a
Jewish mother
Elon eventually became the valedictorian
in the school
Elon and Yaniv have built hazak and what
Ravi was saying before over a thousand
children today have been taken out of
public school because of hazak
so who are the grandchildren who is the
grandmother of these thousand kids from
public school that's one mother
one principal Rabbi gel Salah who saw a
Jewish mother cry
because she wasn't going to be able to
get the right that's what this woman
Center is all about
of course many of us here are certainly
religious but we know there are
thousands that can use a woman Center to
bring up the level of Yiddish guide so
that a mother would cry
when her children don't have the
property that's the purpose of the
Women's Center to build up
mothers and daughters so that they will
have children like Yaniv and Elon
incredible a Jewish mother's tears that
made all the difference
now I'll tell you something very
interesting
you know
when Harbor was created
So Adam gave her name
is
she was the mother of all living beings
if you ask a question
if she was the mother of all living
beings why doesn't it say was the father
of all living beings no place does it
say that Adam was
it only says that
safer says something brilliant he says
it doesn't just mean that she was the
first mother because otherwise you know
he was the first father he writes like
this
before they did the aveira there was no
problem raising children
all kids were wonderful and husbands and
wives had equal responsibility of
raising the kids you didn't need
therapists you didn't need psychologists
everything was wonderful
then when they did the great oh then
Hashem said that Java is going to have
Tsar gig upon him that she is going to
have the pain of raising children and he
writes like this
it was became responsibility of the
mother not only lahonic Ole Godly to
raise and to nurse the child
to give the child Rios and make him feel
special and validate him
um
and make him feel beautiful that's the
role of the Jewish mother
that's why she was called
and that's what the mothers can be
every woman can be that every daughter
can be that Hashem when they have
children and grandchildren and that's
the purpose of the Women's Center
I had a mother like that I want to show
you one thing that my mother did besides
everything else
I mean the fact that she believed that I
could do anything when you have a mother
that believes you could do anything
after a while you begin to believe it
also
but I remember when I was 21 years old
my father passed away
now he was 47 so when you're 21 you
think 47 is an old man but most of us
here past 47 realize how young that was
and I had to leave the Yeshiva I
supported my mother and my six younger
brothers and sisters my father had
taught me how to be a more hell
and so now I had to go out and be a
mohel and support my mother and my
younger brothers and sisters and not
many people were interested in taking a
21 year old kid as a male
I would walk into a house and a
grandmother would look at me and say oh
you look so young
so I would say the baby's also Young
but I want to tell you when I would come
home
and I would say either I came home from
Yeshiva when I was able to be there I'll
come home from a Brisk so I would ask my
mother mom were there any calls
so they were they hadn't been called so
she could have said no that's not what
she said you know what she said the two
greatest words I ever heard not yet
now you know what not yet meant not yet
meant so far they didn't come but
they're going to come and there's going
to be a day when you are going to be so
busy you won't even know what to do
first
but that showed confidence that's the
aim called high that's what a Jewish
mother is all about and that's what the
South safer writes not only lahonik or a
godly to nurse and to raise the child
um
to make that child feel beautiful and
when you have a mother like that then
that's what's going to be the training
in this Women's Center
we're going to have rabbana we're gonna
have therapists psychologists teachers
guidance counselors it's all going to be
there it's all going to be there and
that's the purpose of coming here
tonight to realize the hashivas of what
we have to accomplish
now I want to read you something
that is absolutely incredible
and you will see what a mother is all
about
now this is a poem nobody seems to know
who wrote this poem
but just listen to it carefully you will
never forget it
my little boy came into the kitchen this
evening while I was fixing supper and he
handed me a piece of paper he'd been
writing on
so after wiping my hands on my apron I
read it and this is what it said
for mowing the grass
five dollars
for making my bed this week one dollar
for going to the store 50 cents for
playing with baby brother while you went
shopping 25 cents
for taking out the trash one dollar
forgetting a good report card
five dollars and for raking the yard two
dollars well I looked at him standing
there expectantly and a thousand
memories flashed through my mind
so I picked up the paper and turning it
over this is what I wrote
for the nine months I carried you
growing inside me no charge
for the nights I sat up with you
doctored you and prayed for you no
charge
for the time and the tears and the cost
through the years no charge
for the nights filled with Dread and the
worries ahead no charge for advice and
the knowledge and the cost of your
college no charge here's my favorite
line for the toys food and clothes and
for wiping your nose no charge
son when you add it all up the full cost
of my love
is no charge
now listen to this
well when he finished reading he had
great big tears in his eyes and he
looked up at me and he said Mama I sure
do love you then he took out the pen
and in great big letters he wrote paid
in full
that's what a mother's all about
and that's why Tove has decided that
it's time to build a building for the
mothers of claisro
ad mothers Ashkenazi mothers the mothers
in Claudia Israel could do so much and
have done so much
and they are really the ones
that are the future of Claud Israel they
assure the future of Claudius Rowe
foreign
that's what builds the Jewish Home
and I want to share with you a story
what does it mean to build a Jewish Home
in 1939 there was a woman in
Czechoslovakia
she lived in the town called topochani
her name was Esther barenfeld
and in those days in 1939 the Nazis were
running throughout Europe and they were
taking 20 year old boys she had a 22
year old son mayor they were taking them
to concentration camps
and if they weren't going to be caught
in the concentration camps they would
have to go to the Czechoslovakian Army
and she knew she had to get her children
out of there
but no countries wanted to take them it
was 39. America didn't want to take any
more immigrants and England didn't want
to take Canada didn't want to take but
she knew she had to get her son out of
there so listen to what she did
she found out that there are only five
Spanish countries
that would be willing to take young
children young like 20 year olds
Paraguay Uruguay Bolivia Chile and
Brazil you come from one of those
countries don't you
aren't you right
so listen to this
listen to the wisdom of a Jewish woman
in those days there were no Arts girls
the main company that had sudurem that
were spread all around was a company in
the Lower East Side called shilzinger
that was the name of the company all
this adorable
and hamashim so this woman
from Czechoslovakia writes to the
president of the Schlesinger company
listen to what she writes him
she said
where do you sell of these five
countries where do you sell the most
adoram and Paraguay Uruguay Bolivia
Chile or Brazil
because she figured out if he sells the
most that's where the most Jews are
right out of these five countries how
does she know where to send her kid
and he wrote her back he was so amazed
at this question because he understood
why she wanted to know he told that
Montevideo and Uruguay and she got a
Visa and she sent her son 7
000 miles away from Czechoslovakia
to Montevideo in your life he said Mom
where am I going she said go to the
bookstore the Jewish bookstore she said
Ma I don't know him he doesn't know me
tell him I sent you he'll take care of
you
and that's what he did he went to a
country not knowing anyone
and the Bookseller
from guy he understood why the mother
sent him and he took care of him
eventually the guy got married his son
was my classmate intervidas Irvin Irving
bernfeld he lives today in Montreal this
woman
Esther burnfeld all her children
grandchildren and great-grandchildren
are all from why because that's what
that's what wrote
the wisdom of women that's what builds
the Jewish Home
as a matter of fact we all
knows
because of notchem Sid kanyas only the
women
that's why they went out of metrium
so let me tell you what's going to go on
in the building next door
first of all they will be there a
holiday
I can tell you from countries that I
have been to whether it's South Africa
whether it's in England I just got back
from England Thursday night and they
told me when they have a challah bake
and hundreds and hundreds of women come
it inspires so many of them to become
from and to become part of the community
and that's what's going to be able to be
done in that building next door
they're going to be projects for every
hug
for Hanukkah for Purim they'll be able
to make there's no room here for girls
to sit here the night before poor man
makes for everybody but that's going to
be room in that building there's going
to be projects and gifts that they'll be
able to send to women in nursing homes
and in hospitals that's the purpose of
that building now I'll show you
something very interesting you know what
the Gamora tells us amazing
built
[Music]
from the side of Adam origin he built a
woman and he brought it to man
and the third to MIMA and the Gomorrah
says that women now all the men
shouldn't get insulted but the women are
smarter than the men that's what it says
ish
that women have more intelligence and
more understanding than men do
and to turn to MIMA says how does the
Gomorrah know that what do they see it
in the Posse
and the answer is because by all other
creations it says either by Evra or
it doesn't say even
comes from the lotion of Bina and Bina
yasera that's exactly what women have
and women have that Bina yasera and
that's what I believe the next door
building should be called it should be
the Bina Center Bina is understanding
and intelligence and because the
Gomorrah tells us that is what the women
have that's exactly what it should be
there
I want to give you an example
of what an 80 year old man told me
when he was a young man he came from
Auschwitz
he had the numbers on his hand he showed
me the numbers that he had on his end
and he was lucky to be one of the
survivors
he came to America he was in his early
20s or 25 or whatever he had survived
and then he wanted to get married
they wanted to build a family
and he got married
and shortly after he got married he got
very sick
and he was rushed to the hospital and he
was going to have surgery on a Tuesday
morning
he calls his wife he says get me out of
the hospital tonight you got to come
here and get me out of here
she says what are you talking about you
went to all the doctors you have to have
the surgery the surgery is all set for
tomorrow morning he said I come here
I'll show you but you got to get me out
of here
okay so she runs to the hospital
and she says what's the matter why are
you panicking he says I shouldn't panic
I want to show you something he says
take a look at the numbers on my arm
and he reads the numbers
and then he says take a look at my
wristband that they gave me in the
hospital every patient in the hospital
gets a wristband he said it's the exact
same numbers that I had in Auschwitz
that's terrible muzzle I'm getting out
of here
now if you were his wife how in the
world could you convince him differently
right terrible muzzle the numbers of the
Auschwitz is the numbers of The
Wristband on the spot you know what she
told him that's the Brina yasera she
said Hashem gave you those numbers
and with those numbers you were saved
the same Hashem gave you these numbers
and with these numbers you're going to
be saved
and you know something
that convinced him he had the surgery he
wasn't even 30 years old when I met him
he was 80. could you imagine that's the
Brina yasera that's the purpose of
building the Bena Center next door
because all the women there are going to
be able to be able to grow and be great
people
foreign
I want to tell you something else that I
feel that is so important
it tells us
that when Hashem created prabha
the posix says
[Applause]
Hashem took one of the sides of Adam
origin
means and he filled in flesh in its
place
foreign
that's the first time the letter samach
appears by a living creature Not By the
birds not by the fish and not by The
Animals why why
so there's a wonderful wonderful book
called The Wisdom of the Hebrew alphabet
you must get it it's from Oscar it is
brilliant every page you will learn
something about the Isle of phase and in
there he writes that the samach is a
perfect circle the samach is a perfect
wall
and he says you know why the samach
appears by a man and a wife first Vegas
because that's what every wife is
supposed to do protect the husband and
that's what every husband is supposed to
do to protect the wife
and it occurred to me that's why the
kala walks around the Hassan she's
making a summer
and what does the husband give the color
he gives her a sama he gives her a ring
and that's the summer that's the
protective wall and that's why vayascar
is written with a samach by the creation
of man and wife as a matter of fact the
targum on the Posse
I will make him a help mate is essle I
will make for him a samachar protective
wall
you know what marriage is really
supposed to be
the ABCs of Life a means to feel
accomplishment if a person is living
alone he can't accomplish he can't
accomplish it's only a husband and a
wife together that could feel a sense of
accomplishment he helps her that's the
ASA connect day to help mate the long
way
B is to build a family and C is to feel
contentment
we all know
that in so many families today and
especially on younger families this
conflict Rift and dissension and in
these walls in these walls that were
supposed to be protective
this the walls are pierced broken and
sometimes they crumble
now
of course I don't know most of you here
I have no idea who's divorced and who's
not and certainly this is going to go to
tens of thousands of people
but divorce is a difficult situation
let me tell you I'm involved with an
organization called sister to sister
it is so painful
when people are divorced and it is so
painful for the children
and what they want to do in the women's
center is to make sure that young
couples that are going out
that and when they get engaged not only
are they going to learn Tara Sam ashboka
but they're going to learn how to live
life together
as we said before they'll be
psychologists there'll be guidance
counselors they'll be all kinds of
rabonim and therapists and this will be
available in the women's center and
that's why we have to support it and
that's why Tov went out of their way to
buy the building to ensure the future of
Claud Israel
now I have a very good friend who's a
marriage counselor that's not why he's
my friend but he happens to be my friend
and his name is avram parents Friedman
and he wrote a wonderful little book
called table for two and in there he
writes marriage is not a question of
finding the right partner rather it's a
question of being the right partner
marriage is not a question of finding
the right partner most of the time we're
blaming the other partner because we
didn't find the right one but marriage
is a question of being the right partner
and that's what we're going to try to
accomplish at the Bina Center
now I can tell you
you know as a person that's in the
public Realm
many times couples will come to me
and you know they thought that they were
so alike you know when they got engaged
you know some couples tell me you know
we both when we came back from Israel I
was in a basement she was in seminary I
didn't even know but we both ended up in
Switzerland weren't we exactly alike
and we both like the music right as if
that's going to make a marriage do you
know that one couple actually told me
they both used Crest with daughter
protection
so isn't that a like
and one couple you wouldn't believe this
they told me he said
they she asked him who's your favorite
speaker
so he said Robert Crone so he said oh
wow that's my favorite speaker as well
now listen to what the guy did this was
in the days when they were cassettes you
can't do this today uh you know on the
mp3s
but he took a cassette
and in the middle of the cassette he
imitated my voice
and he put it into the car when they
were driving now she's in the middle of
listening they're on a date and they're
in the middle of listening and all of a
sudden she hears devoa you know who
you're sitting to you're sitting next to
a guy named Shia and you should marry
him because he's a wonderful guy she
almost fell out of the car
because he sounded and you know
something she got engaged him
and they got married and they're living
in Earth's Own they're very very happy
but you know what happens with many of
these couples you know they get married
and then they realize you know this guy
is a night person
you know he likes to stay up late at
night she likes to go to sleep early
well sometimes this guy's a neat freak
you know he's cleaning out with the
toaster he's cleaning out you know with
a toothpick all the crumbs
and she is a holy wreck
you know her mother used to say just
close the door so nobody will see what
your room looks like you know when you
go out you don't ask those kind of
questions right
and some guys you know spend money like
anything and she's going crazy because
he bought a Danish for two dollars
instead of for a dollar ten right
so all of a sudden this conflict drift
and Ascension and what happens these
things get worse and worse
and when they get worse and worse that's
terrible and that's the purpose of the
woman's Center
the purpose is to make sure that these
things don't happen and if they do
happen that there'll be guidance so that
people will be able to take care of
themselves and be able to build a future
in clog your style
now I'll tell you something very
interesting
you know we know that ashes Heil speaks
about the ideal woman
but I always was puzzled how come in
Asia's Kyle it doesn't say anything
about lighting candles
we know that that's one of the main
Mitzvahs of a woman lighting candles
right
so how come it doesn't say anything
about Outlook Us in there
so I'll tell you what I thought if you
take a look at the possic that begins
with the letter Tess right begins with
the letter test it says like this
she senses that her Enterprise is good
her candle doesn't go out at night that
means she's working till very very late
at night but you know what I think it
also means Lila is Darkness
the great woman and I sell I know some
of them sitting in this audience when
things are rough in the house they are
the ones that always have the positive
attitude
when things are dark they candle their
Globe doesn't go out they're telling
their husbands you're going to be okay
and things are going to be fine and
we're going to pass through this we're
going to manage do you know how many
people told me during Sandy Hurricane
Sandy when people lost so much money
nobody was killed but people lost
furniture and swore him and the houses
were wrecked and the husbands were
mental wrecks many of them and the wife
said don't worry we're going to make it
and so many husbands told me that it was
only because of the wives
that they were able to exist
s
I want to tell you a phenomenal
phenomenal story
now I know that this was I once
mentioned this and I think they played
it on the daily dose but this is one of
the greatest stories that you'll ever
hear and it will give us an Insight of
what we have to do in the upcoming year
and for the rest of our lives
and Lakewood a number of years ago they
announced that two days before the
yantev of pesach there's going to be no
school
so that all the rebbies will be able to
be home and they'll be able to help
their wives because pesach is very busy
I don't have to tell you how much has to
be done
so now it was two days before yantev and
the fifth grade Webby came into the
house
and he came into the kitchen and he said
to his wife he said how can I help you
we have all for two days tell me what
should I do
she says you really want to know what
you should do we have six kids
if you could take all the six kids on a
four hour outing out of the house
that'll be the best
I could bake I could cook I could clean
just get him out of the house and he's
thinking where in the world is he going
to go from Lakewood you know for four
hours
so then he decides he's going to take
them to Newark Airport why so I don't
know if you were ever in Newark airport
but they have it also in Kennedy they
have what's called an air train
an air train it goes from one terminal
to the other so let's say you're coming
in United and you've got to go on uh
whatever pwa if it still exists or
whatever so you have to go through a
different terminal so you go on this
train and it takes you from American to
United to Delta wherever you have to go
and in Newark the train is so sleek and
so fancy so beautiful
and it goes near the runway so you could
see the planes they can go off and you
see the planes landing and it goes over
the Jersey turnpike so you're thinking
okay fine he'll take the kids to the air
train to get on the air train and get
some long-term parking gets on the
AirTrain and he's taking them all around
and for two hours they are on the train
and they're loving every second of it
after two hours a pilot comes onto the
train he had just landed from some place
very neat looking guy with a cap very
slender you know how all these Pilots
look and he comes in and he sees a
father with six kids
so he's very friendly he says to the
kids ah we're all flying today
you know what to say
so they look at the father so the father
says actually we're flying nowhere
he says uh nowhere
he says you know we're Jewish and we
have a Jewish holiday that's coming up
in two days and my wife wanted that I
should take the kids out so I she could
bake and cook and clean so you know I
decided to take him on this outing and
you know having a great time together on
the air train
and the pilot got very very serious
and he said young man I want to tell you
something
you see I have been a pilot for 25 years
there is not an airport a major airport
in the world that I haven't landed in
two years ago I got a text from my son
he said Dad
you never had the decency to come to any
of my birthday parties you didn't even
have the decency and the courtesy to
come to my graduation
and last week was the birthday of my
first son your first grandson and you
didn't even come to his birthday party
do me a favor take my number out of your
contacts
and he said two weeks later I got the
same text from my daughter
he says young men I have traveled
everywhere
but gone nowhere
you told me that you're going nowhere
but I'm telling you with your kids
you're going everywhere
what an amazing thing
he's going everywhere
that's what it's all about
and you know something that's what we
have to do more than anything else
we all have children and grandchildren
and great-grandchildren with Hashem
most important
that we can do
the most important thing that we can do
is to connect to our children and
grandchildren I know we're all busy
especially in New York we are so busy
with so many things and they're
wonderful things
that's what's going to be taught in the
Women's Center
the priority is children your sons and
your daughters
and that's what the woman sent to the
Venus Center is going to try to
accomplish to build the future
Generations
I want to tell you a story that just
happened in Earth Israel it was written
up
Silverstein it is so incredible and it's
going to teach us a very very important
lesson
there was a fellow who lived in one of
the uh settlements it's called Malay
Ephraim and it's among Arab
neighborhoods and this guy male Ephraim
that's where he lived
and this fellow always used to tell the
people ashore shut your cell phones but
don't even bring him in the show
and they said you know don't worry we'll
put it on
um what's it called uh
I'm So Silent right there's another word
for it vibrant vibrate right we'll put
on vibrate and he said no because if you
not if you want to connect Hashem you
got to be disconnected from everybody
else
so they said yeah but we live among the
Arabs he said good so two people will
keep the phones on but if you have it on
vibrate you're gonna look at it don't
even shut it off or don't bring it into
the show everybody knew that that's what
he always said every day he would tell
and complain when people had their
phones on
it happened Rob Silverstein writes this
he wrote this impartial State
he writes every week they write the suck
that he passed in that week and the
stories that he heard and there's a
fellow Yeshua lion guard who writes that
I spoke to him
and he writes like this
a couple weeks ago before Patrick's Day
gift because he wrote it in partial
second this guy was coming home from
your shalayim in a uh with his wife from
a wedding
and they went through the Arab
neighborhoods and they were going up to
Mali Ephraim
and suddenly he turns to his wife in the
car he says I think we're being followed
she says what are you talking about he
says look there's a car behind us
without lights
and they're sneaking up on us
I'm afraid it's terrorists she said well
why don't you just make a left turn and
go down the road this way
say makes a left turn on the car behind
him also makes a left turn
and he starts speeding and they're
speeding and suddenly the shots rang out
and he's trying to get away as fast as
he can because he knows now for sure
that it's terrorists
and is able to make a turn off the road
somehow he jumps out of the car before
they were able to turn around
and see that he was and him and his wife
are rolling on the ground away from the
highway
as she takes out her phone and she calls
the police and she says come come we're
being chased by terrorists they're
shooting at us
and the guy who's the dispatcher in the
police station said where are you
calling from she says we're on the
bottom of the hill of Molly Ephraim he
said it's impossible she said what do
you mean it's impossible we know where
we live there's no cell phone service
that you can't be calling me and he
hangs up on her because he thought it
was a prank call
so this guy calls the police and Molly
Ephraim because they know him
and he says you've got to help me we're
on the ground we're hiding that
terrorist shooting at us
so they come because they know him and
they ask him where he is they say we
don't believe you but we'll come there
because there's no cell phone service
there
and they come and of course they come
with the police jeeps and as soon as the
Arabs saw the police Jeeps they ran away
and they saved them
and for three months he could not talk
about it he was so traumatized that he
was almost killed and then he made a
pseudocido a Surah means a suda of
thanks
and at the pseudo said though you know
what the Ralph said
that when the police from Molly Ephraim
came they showed him their cell phones
there was no connection you could not
make a cell phone down there somehow his
cell phone worked
he said because this guy always said
that if you want to connect to Hashem
you have to disconnect from everybody
else Hashem made it in a place where
everybody else was disconnected he was
connected to Hashem
in a place where no cell phone could
work his somehow worked miraculously and
he was connected to Hashem
and that's really what we have to do
we are so disconnected sometimes when we
Daven and we learn
because the text and the emails and the
whatsapps and all the other things they
may be important in business they may be
important in other places but when you
learn and when you dive in and when you
eat with your children you have to
disconnect
to reconnect Hashem and to reconnect to
your family that is so important
and we have to remember what rabbit told
us
told us
every one of us in davening and in
learning has to be connected to Myla but
we also have to have the penne
we have to have a
and that's something I'll tell you
I was asked recently many many times
since Ram
passed away
to speak about him
and I always tell this story
his wife was Nifty on Shabbos
so of course there could be no has paid
and now had no funeral was Shabbos
so all the grandchildren they came to
his house and the great grandchildren
and they asked them and they said
what is the greatest media that our
Bobby had
what was the greatest media of Robertson
bacheva kanifsky
so
some people thought for sure he's going
to say
because every girl that came for a
shirach so she would always say learn to
Allah that's not what he said they
thought maybe it's nears because she
always spoke about sneeze that's not
what he said they thought I was Israel
no you know what he said
the Bubba's greatest media was savlonas
patience
he said how many people how many women
used to come
and she used to cry with them and she
used to Darvin with them
and said you know very well that many of
them were not all there
but she still had the patience for them
someone told me this is hard to believe
there was an American woman she was not
normal she used to call the rabbit said
every Friday to get a kiss over the
phone
and if she didn't like the kiss she
asked her to kiss her a second time or a
third time
Robertson did it
salvonus
that's the name is
we come to Rosh Hashanah and we ask
Hashem
to forgive us of course that's what
we're going to do on Yom Kippur
and I just want to end just with this
thing
I just got back from England
I was there for a few days
and I must tell you
even before I went there to see the
pageantry and the coven and the
adulation
and the respect that they gave to the
queen was absolutely incredible Nobody
Does it Like the British people
all the processions all the soldiers all
the attention
and it occurred to me
tomorrow night we're going to start
saying
and then I said to me we're going to say
and we dive in mounters what are we
doing to make Hashem the king
what covet are we giving to Hashem the
way they gave to the queen
and I think that we could Obi macabo
something
and that's what I told him in England
and in England of course where they all
saw do you know that some people told me
I couldn't get over this there were some
people first of all every school was
closed the day of the funeral there were
some fathers that took their kids to the
funeral so they could sing King Charles
and make a bracha how do you like that
that's a dinner if you see a king you
have to make a brother we can't do that
in America there's no Monarch here
but they took them to see the king so
they should be able to make a broken
so how do we make Hashem the king
especially coming from seeing everything
that they did for Queen Elizabeth I'll
tell you what the answer is I think
every time from tonight on
till after
when you say Abraham Mitzvah whether
it's lighting candles Friday night
Hanukkah Circus Love whatever when you
say the words elecano Miller stop
stop for a second and think
Hashem you are our King we are your
subjects there's no logical reason to
put on filling there's no logical reason
to put on the towers
what's a bench candles Friday night why
are we doing it we're doing it only
because we are your subjects you are the
Miller
So when you say the brother any bracha
Allah
make sure that you think for a moment
Hashem you the king and we are your
subjects and that's why we're doing your
Mitzvahs and I think that if we approach
Rosh Hashanah in that way and that we
know that we are here for one reason and
one reason only that we are the sons and
the servants and the subjects of the
melach
we do that I believe that tough Shin pay
gimmel could very well stand to hnas
Pearson Gola it'll be the year that the
Gula is mafar same is known and that
Hashem will see that we are his people
I'll tell you with this one more thing I
don't know if you know this maybe you
saw this do you know what happened this
past Friday in England
King Charles wanted to meet with all the
heads of the various religions
and one of the people he invited was
Rabbi Mervis who was the chief Rabbi of
of Judaism in in England Chief rabbi
the meeting was supposed to be at six
o'clock Shabbos was 6 30. so the rabbi
wasn't going to be able to come the
Royal Court found out about it and
without calling the rabbi they changed
it so he should be able to come and then
made the meeting at 5 30. now listen to
this you will not believe this
at 5 30 the king began speaking and he
finished at six
at six he looks at his watch and he
points to the rabbi he says Rabbi you
got to go your Sabbath is coming imagine
the king
so the Rabbi says to him I can't leave
the protocol is that when there's a king
at the meeting
no one is allowed to leave the room
until the king leaves and you know what
occurred to me
that when the safety is open you can't
leave the shul you can only leave a shul
if to save it there was closed but if
it's open you're not allowed to leave
the king is here are you gonna walk out
so the king said to him the Sabbath is
more important I give him permission to
leave and you have a police escort
waiting for you
and it got a moment seven minutes
because all the streets were clean
so somebody said to me oh that's what I
so I said to somebody else you know what
this you know what posic defines this
Mecca
that all the people will see that God's
name is on you
then they'll have respect
so I just want to end with this story I
know I said this seven times already but
I just got to tell you this story now Dr
Silverman please forgive me if I said
this over in on Dish above
but now you'll see what it means when
goyum see that Jews are special
okay I'm not gonna say whose phone that
is because uh
right they're not from Molly Ephraim but
anyway listen to this and with this one
close
this incident happened January 2nd
2020 what's so important about January
2nd 2020 because anybody remember what
happened January 1st 2020 that was to
see my shots in giant Stadium right in
MetLife Stadium 95
000 people at the cmashas
so I have a friend who's a principal a
famous mechanical name is Benjamin
Ginsburg used to be in Minnesota now he
lives outside of Lakewood he told me
this what happened the day after the
cmashas he was rushing from Jackson
where he lives to Burpa because he had
to give a speech
but he was rushing on the Garden State
Parkway
and he was speeding weaving getting out
of traffic and a cop stopped him
he rolls down the window the first words
out of the cop was
did you study your page today
he says excuse me all of a sudden what'd
you say he said I was a giant Stadium
yesterday don't you guys study a page
did you study a page today
he looks at his clock he says officer
I'm so embarrassed but it's only 10 30
in the morning I didn't get a chance to
study the page
so
he says but if you promise me you'll
study the page today I won't give you a
summons he said I promise
and then listen to what the officer said
to him he said yesterday somebody one of
my officers said to me he wishes he was
Jewish
so I said to him why do you wish you
were Jewish
he said look at this 95 000 people
celebrate what are they celebrating they
didn't win a lottery they celebrated
that they studied a page and they
understand it not only that 95
000 people singing and dancing and now
one of them is drunk
imagine that and then he said this
another officer said to me you know
something there was a big mistake
yesterday they called The Stadium giant
Stadium
that's not what it was it was a stadium
of giants
and that's what we could be we could all
be Giants
if we act as hidden if we act poor sake
in the final of Milo and paneer Michelle
we become Giants and not only fellow
Jews see that with giants but the
nations of the world will also see for
euromi Mecca like King Charles he know
who that Rabbi was he knew what Shabbos
was and he respected him
and that's what we have to be we have to
be a role model to the world the men and
the women the men all of us here the
women in Tove have been phenomenal over
the years LED of course
but now it's time to expand let's expand
let's give money let's build that
building Amit Hashem by the inauguration
we'll all come together and celebrate
the Venus Center for Claudius Rome thank
you for inviting me and thank you for
listening and a good yard
[Applause]
