[Applause] it's time for rabbi mankiewicz weekly Torah lesson a place where life's most difficult questions are answered here with his spiritual perspective and insight rabbi megawatts welcome to this week's Torah lesson this week's Torah portion splashes by a shave the question of the week is how can we succeed in exile so this week's Torah portion we read about Joseph and his brothers where Joseph has these dreams - dreams the first dream he has is that the brothers are out in the field and then the gathering sheaves and everyone she's boughs down to Joseph's sheaf the second tree me has that there is these stars referring to the brothers and the Sun in the moon referring to the parents all bowing down to Joseph's start so every question that we ask is why to dreams in essence they're saying the same thing but their army explains that these dreams led to the Joseph brothers hating and which eventually led that they wanted to kill them and they sold them which eventually led us into exile so in other words the dreams were part of the plan of course going to exile and we know within anything negative is buried something good so obviously within these dreams lies the secret how we can come out of Exile where's the secret how we can come out of the exhaust let me explain like this that if you think of it where do we belong we belong in a house we go out to the field to work so then we're not home here the tone is described and then going out to the field we're going out of Exile but you want to remain strong and you want to stay focused on your house and get back to the house you have to remember that even in the field even if you're outside the home you always have to what unites because all these Xi's were uniting towards one in holiness it's all about unity the opposite of holiness is everyone's doing their own thing and the second lesson we learned from the second dream that not only we have to unite we have to submit we're all the stars and the Sun the Moon are submitting to one so in other words when it when we even when we're in exile if we unite and we submit we will succeed so the answer the question how can we succeed in exile by uniting being as one and submitting to God we will be able to overcome exile this week's Torah lesson is a memory of bora pandari liebe and Ben Yosef may their souls be elevated for the Torah that we're studying in their memory thanks so much for joining us for our weekly Torah lesson for more information on Habad please see our website [Music]
