Talmud tells us that when God had given us the ten commandments at Mount Si, the first tablets ended up being shattered, but the second tablets endured. The reason why the first tablets were shattered is because they had too much attention. Everybody knew about it. It was everybody's business and the expectations of the relationship were not internalized but were dependent on external perspective about what everybody else felt and what everybody else thought. But the second set of tablets that God had given us after he'd forgiven us, nobody knew about. They were given privately and they've endured forever.
