good evening Rabbi isar Ginsburg thank you so much for joining us here at IBA news how does being hidic influence your work as a business coach does it present conflicts benefits or both well at a superficial level being cdic is terrible because people tend to believe in what they see and what they see is a black coat and a black hat and these and this and that's what they take at face value but on a deeper level once they get to know me a little bit they see where I've spoken they see some of my clients the fact that I have clients from literally around the world different faiths different religious not religious and they see that I'm able to help businesses of so so many different kinds of businesses then it really um helps me because I feel like I am making a kesem I am enabling people to see that just because somebody dresses like I do doesn't mean that they don't have anything under they hat there's a lot of discussion about learning from failures in business how does failure contribute to success okay well I actually have a client I'll answer that with a story I actually have a client who came to me hysterical he's an author and he found his book being shared on all the different file sharing sites so he was basically busy all day long sending notices to try to get the infringing copyrighted material removed what I showed him was was actually having his book pirated was helping him tremendously because there were tens of thousands of people if not more who had never heard of him before found him because they downloaded his pirated book and then came to him for consultations or possibly to speak at their corporations so the way I was able to do that for him was we actually I told him to actually change the front page of the book to put a different email address to contact him instead of the one in the real book then upload the changed book to the different file sharing sites himself and then he would be able to see from the emails coming in how he was actually getting business from piracy unconventional thinking like that is often critical to success as a coach how do you inspire your clients to think outside the box how do you cultivate creative thinking another story there's a famous clothing brand in the United States a shoe brand called Kenneth Cole and when Kenneth Cole started his company he wanted to sell shoes at the shoe Expo and that was going to be how he launches his company the problem was was he didn't have the money that it took to rent a booth in the New York Hilton to get started so he called up a friend of his creative thinking and said would you mind lending me one of your trucks the friend said sure what do you need it for he said well I'm going to park the truck outside the Hilton New York and I'm going to sell shoes from the truck so his friend said Ken I'd be very happy to let you have one of my trucks but there's no way you cannot get a permit to park a truck in Midtown Manhattan he said well if I can get the permit will you allow me to take a truck he said sure he went to the county clerk's office he said hi I'd like to get a permit to park a truck in Midtown county clerk said we're sorry we don't give any permits to park trucks in Midtown unless you're shooting a movie he said thank you went home created a company called Kenneth C Productions following day came back to the county clerk filing that he's making a movie called the birthing of a shoe company ended up getting the permit to park outside the shoe Expo sold over 20,000 pairs of shoes and that is how Kenneth Cole started in fact today Kenneth Cole shoes is actually the name of the company is still Kenneth Cole Productions because of that story thank you so much for joining us here tonight Rabbi Ginsburg thank you
