it's pesak right and that's not true never does the tah refer to the upcoming as P there's but there is a day it does refer to as p in the is referred to as P so actually it's a completely distinct y it is the Y of p p is p the following seven days are and you know in our ha we bring a a letter which it's customary for many people to recite this letter it's a letter from one of the uh most eminent mikal his name was Ramin of ashra who was uh killed in 1648 in the massacres of tat and he left us an exposition uh explaining certain a certain cabalistic passage of that Aral which it is recommended to recite on ER of PES many do in fact recite at er pesak and there are many wondrous accounts of those who recited AR pesak in fact there are many reports that Jews who recited this during the times of the Holocaust were saved in various communities um anyone who had that opportunity was offered uh great protection some say it ER of PES some say it the night of the P wow and it's predicated on the idea that the power that is latent in the words of the Mak is still there and if you say those words you could tap into that spiritual energy and that spiritual power specifically on P now why P you know you brought up this very important question what's so significant about ER of P you remember in the purin story what was Esther doing at the time she was preparing ing to go into and save the forces of evil in preparation for coming of G which is primed for the 15th of Nissan so Arab p is like the grand finale of the destruction of of evil in this world so it's a very significant day very powerful day R gladin I have hundreds of AAS I I've actually given away a lot of hagadas recently and I still have hundreds of Haas I don't think I've ever seen R Shaman's letter in another hagada experience and and and uh and discover when they read the letter AR of PES right that would be a way of putting it absolutely absolutely and you know if I may uh there is a critical addition in both Hebrew and English of this letter um that's available online and um the author actually uh gave me permission to site certain insights that he had and I recommend that if people want to explore um the letter of shamshan they get a hold of that uh commentary but this gives you a pretty solid introduction and um anybody who reads introduction will certainly be motivated to take the few minutes that it takes to say this uh this passage so so you've given us a lot of assignments for a week from Monday you got to say you got to say carbon pesak you got you got to read the letter based on the order in your you read the letter first right would that be would that make sense well you want to try to dive anyway before c PES right that's what we usually do when we're in Israel right wow boy this holiday is getting more and more complicated as I get older and older no no you keep it simple you keep it clear yeah and and when do we do Shir is that after the Seder we do that after the Seder yeah really the most important objective is not to lose your cool in fact uh you know the the ran tells us that one who gets angry the Rama makes a frightening statement call one who gets angry it's like serving idols and says that when it comes to the Y of P you know an idolor is not invited to partake of the carbon PES that's right and therefore of all the things that we have to be careful about um know the wrote six different commentaries on the and I found in all of his commentaries he gives significance to this number 17 in fact this I never knew and I never saw in any SA and I saw in a very interesting saare artg produced a commentary to the of sh fromi I think it was compiled by Shai Sher yeah yeah and he he brings he wants to aski why is it that when we say we repeat the final right know say that twice right and said because he said said he heard it from an old man and I never heard that expression before you know usually would say he saw it in this sa on that page right but just said he heard from a elderly sadic that y has 112 words and in order to get to the special number7 we repeat just one more time why why is it so important mat shabas to get to 117 yeah because mat shabas were praying the souls go back to their place perhaps in the geham and we want to offer them protection and actually there's an idea that just like when we were in Egypt 117 years the souls spend 117 hours in geham a week where does that come from 24 hours a day days a week candle light exactly how but that's still uh 6 * 24 is 68 hours a week is 168 hours right and if you subtract 24 hours for shabas and then the 27 hours for the daily life three times a day it's 117 hours that's just an example of where we see this number that we usually don't hear about 117 heard it before at all and it's a reference to to to what the hardest the hardest slavery period for the Jewish people the hardest slavery oh it's precisely we know that the slavery began when the shtim passed away there and we look at the him and we see he was sold byas a caravan of isan that's what precipitated the whole bondage in Egypt and in fact we start off by dipping the carpath and there many different explanations for why we dip the carpath but the most definitive and earliest commentary we have is we dipped the carpath to remember how we got to Egypt in the first place they took y's tunic they dipped it in Blood and they sold him to yes wow and then we look at the end of the and the and the eight personalities or figures in the khadya and you know Rob keski interprets that these eight figures represent the eight Exiles Babylon and the chadians Persia media Greece Macedonia edim and finally the angel of death is isma and that means the ends the same way we got here because we sold to the end that God will come and he will take care of business with the which says is and he will redeem us so the is bookended with what did to us that we should go down to Egypt and the Revenge that God will take when he'll redeem us against those I mean you can't possibly you can't possibly fit this into times better than the way you just described it yeah yeah exactly and and as you say the words of the hag has to Echo and resonate very profoundly with every Jew because we saw with our own eyes they stand up against us yep and you know we mourn the loss of uh so many so many innocent Jews but we also have to realize what they could have done what could have been Pur perpetrated if they were able to accomplish what they wanted what they were capable of doing what they wanted to do and how we s with our own eyes God really saved us I mean it's hard to look at it that way but that's that's what happened yeah because it could have been um of even greater proportions wow I love the
