They called me a "Kentucky Fried Jew"

They used to call me a Kentucky fried Jew. It was not a term of endearment. So I grew up Jewish in Lexon, Kentucky. My family's from Florida. And it was not an easy upbringing as a Jewish kid. They used to call me a Kentucky fried Jew. It was not a term of endearment. It was what they wanted to do to me. And I had a pretty rough particular middle school period, facing about as bad anti-semitism as you can get, both mentally and physically. And and one day I turned 13 around the time of my bar mitzvah and I said, "I'll never again be afraid of who I am. I'll never apologize for it. I'll never let anyone treat me this way and I'll certainly never let my own children go through what I did." Anti-semitism today is arguably worse than it was in the 80s when I was in school. My part of what I'm here to do is to fight for the Jewish people. So I take the responsibility very seriously.
