Brooklyn I mean you can't you can't uh all over all over you can't even unbelievable 23 guys flew in for two and a half days we met with uh rabbis roshi Yeshiva Community leaders David Lichtenstein a friend Aries turned shyster and hosted us for incredible evenings and it's all just to light the spark and to get excited and light that fire and there are people who've gone on the trip previously who started taking up serious total study started to explore their duties more seriously as a result of this trip powerful spiritual singing dancing learning growing six in the morning we went to the the balabatum Colo hundreds of people in a room learned six to seven diving at seven a quick breakfast off to work we were part of Dallas Gala breakfast don't forget Gala breakfast salad breakfast you ran into one of your uh one of my roommates one of your bangs ran into one of your Rabbi stefanski buddies oh that's right that's right Levin we saw uh amazing amazing at first of all the best part right before that right you were signing some autographs [Laughter] it was an amazing moment that whether it was in the halls of BMG in Lakewood or tour of Brooklyn and certainly why you yeah we got stopped by people who were like I love behind the beam I love behind the bema it was you know flattering very nice very gratifying but there was one kid who told the Das who's talking to me all about behind the Beeman's favorite episodes and I love it and one of the other members of our trip goes you know that's that's right by Brody he's awesome and the kid looks over at you and he goes yeah for me now I'm going to get emails exactly we were we were talking to there was a whole group of special needs kids that were walking through the wall the halls of torvidas it was an amazing experience this beautiful program they have that match there special needs studying in the Shiva they feel they're part of the Yeshiva yeah really I asked one of the boys I I said what are you doing you learn you're learning here he says yeah what I said what are you what are you learning he says Torah anyway it was a great trip we'll have an opportunity to unpack that more in the future all the people we met and the special moments that came out of it and how we were uplifted and some of the messages and stick with us yeah the singing I'll tell you that the the trip I don't want to say it can be anywhere but you got to leave your element sometimes you got to just break out of your routine leave your element your natural habitat just be able to have some self-awareness introspection get out of yourself and look at yourself and that's what I think really stimulates and provokes growth and breakthrough and not everyone has that luxury it's not always so easy but when we can I think to a holidays it just breaks up the routine so that we can and get excited about something break out of ourselves a little bit I was at a wedding on Sunday night right by Brody a guy comes up to me and he says you know I never learned gamara my whole life I can never connect with it I never succeeded with it he said but ever since Rabbi Brody took on took on mky not mky mdy d-y versus Zombie Brody started Robbie stavansky's daf he goes I did too I haven't missed a day he said Rabbi Brody Dylan stefansky's Duff inspired me and that was inspired by behind the bema so I tell you we've had some I we had to have you on it's so inspiring to know like a modern-day Arabia Kiva no matter what age no matter what stage of life no matter what one's beginning the opportunity to get involved in Torah learning and Torah teaching and to get to the point of being a javrusa whether tell us about your childhood I was normally Israeli secular from secular Israeli family normally like all the secular Israeli not something we're not something strange like everyone in the neighborhood in the city I was learning secular School and when I was 11 years old my grandfather my father's father passed away and one of my fathers friends he approached him and convinced him to start going to the show and my father actually when he was young he also learned in Yeshiva but he his parents are divorced and he took it very hard and they go out from the Yeshiva I stopped learning over there and after that he met my mother that she came from a very traditional family just kiddushon lunchhabis and not eating metal milk together and that's all the the there was the whole religious things in the house when he met her she's she asked him why you don't you need the the yamaka we're not religious people so remove the Yama kind they married without it so until my grandfather's passing we lived like a circular people normally where was it which name which neighborhood which city is it in Tel Aviv so in 11 years old when my grandfather's I think he started to go to the shoe and say kadish for his father every morning and after it they convinced him to continue with the observance and he started to go on Chavez also and the first time we go with him to the shul was in Chavez and after the prayers ended we're going to the house as usual just the the prayer was in the house that's all maybe kinoshu was also I think at the start for for sure there wasn't the kid maybe after it became but after the the Thriller ended so we loved every shot every Shabbos to go to the pool there was a large public pool exactly in front of the shul so few minutes before that feeling ended we go out from the show run at home and took our swim clothing and took a different route to hide from the people who get out from the show I we want we we don't want the people from the show now that we're going to the pool who opened on Chavez so it took a different way and after it there was another thing happened that my sister was going to arahim organization and she was very inspired from what she heard and one day she came home and said from now on no more lights on Shabbos and of course of course no more TV either no more TV either and I was 11 years old and I was addicted to the the TV was my life and how can I do shows without TV and it was a mess in the house I tried to fight her no you you uh not turning on lights on Chavez it's okay but TV you know it's too much so we argue and finally with the company with the compromise to record them all the movies we record them on Chavez and watch them after Shabbos ended that was the first level of the observance it became better and better and we start accepting as we grew and uh uh a few years after is the Yeshiva stuff from now but you were you were 11 years old when you're first and started to keep and started to keep the Shabbat how did you how did your parents feel when your sister was bringing home this religion and the new rules in the house there wasn't a objection but they didn't love it so much but it wasn't there wasn't a objection I was the opposition I was the opposition because the movies right because of the movies and then so then you know that my initiation is so bad but the little English that I know is just from the movies in the school English is excellent English is excellent so the you started going to Yeshiva there was a change from the public school to the issue so a few years after they decided that it's not appropriate for us to continue in the secular institutions that we were in so they removed me and my brothers to religious school I was in the barilan high school in Tel Aviv it was they were learning three First hours a day they were learning gamore and after a little all day long we talked and the gamare that they learned they learn it like Annie mcsoya any other mixora it's a like they learn mathematics there is mitsua gemore it wasn't Gamora you know with douche with the taste Yiddish guy it was like any subject not his geography I didn't I mommy she didn't like like the the situation it's not talking to me like that to to London and three years I spent in this ishiva in barilan high school in Tel Aviv and in the ninth grade I didn't was in the in the Shiva almost the whole year because I was the Gabe of our school the same shoe that my father started going after a few years I became the Gabe because the Gabe is is moved he no longer lived over there and I became one of the Gabon and except this I was also the valkyrie since uh 13 and a half years old I became the balcony over there so I have the key for the shoe and I don't want to continue going to barilan so every morning my mother thinks that I'm going to the Yeshiva in Berlin and actually I was going to the shoe I locked myself over there and study missionary all day long with the explanation of the water I didn't yet know how to learn Gamora alone so that's what I can do at the time how did you have the patience you are 13 years old 14 years old yeah to learn mission of the entire day by yourself without a teacher without other uh can today that I'm looking today this day to those days I I think that I asked myself the same question but in those days it was tremendous I have so much devotion culentoro today it's amazing to think about it but in those days it seems to me normally what were you from 11 year old secular at the pool on Chavez to now sitting and learning mishna all day by yourself locked in the show yeah yeah what were your friends saying at this point I didn't think that they knew about it at all my father at that time is in a very bad situation in his business and the whole family was one big mess my father at the time leave the house left the house and the economic situation in the house was very very bad everything was messy my sister was in the Army my brother in Yeshiva I was locking the shoe you know everyone over there was busy with his own things so my friends I don't think they they knew at all what I'm doing they just knew that my family is big one mess and they didn't ask me what I'm doing all over the day they just know that I'm not coming to the Yeshiva just one in a month to show my face wow so locked in the shoe all day learning mishna until when until seven o'clock at night and seven o'clock I go out from the show and come back home and I was the Manish momish nervous that my the the school would call my my mother and told her that it didn't show up but well consumer didn't call because the Palm Bay won a month and something like this that I'm going they see my face so they didn't call they saw me at the school anytime amazing story because it's not normal you know today if I'm not sending my son to the hey there even one day I I I get a call one month I didn't I didn't was there and no one calls unbelievable so how many years was that ninth grade 10th grade today I'm 46 years old it was when I was 14 years old yeah it was 32 years or years ago before wow so you're sitting learning English now when did you start Gamora when did that change it became after there was one Rabbi in the Shoal who learn gamore Shabbos afternoon foreign [Music] and this like this a little by little I start to understand how the aramic worlds are what the words meaning and it was you know on low level but that was the start after it I go to another show in in Tel Aviv where I lived and there was another showroom of Gamora and I start to understand the how the gemore works was there a point where you had a lot of questions you didn't grow up like this so so who'd you ask your questions to not just about the mishna or the gemara just about them yeah no I never had you didn't know this is the truth I never had questions about the money it seems to me so obvious that there is in the world I haven't any questions about it wow wow so you finished high school or you finished not going to high school yeah what was next the next thing that after all the ninth grade that I locked myself in the show so finally at the end of the year I told my mother the whole story what's going on in the hall last year she was shocked about the story but after it I told him I can't continue like this I needed a seriously Shiva so we start looking for a serious Yeshiva normally Yeshiva inert is Royal not accepting someone like me he never learned in in a normal place from place I mean so we try to relate kabel to some issue except Swami shivas and they don't want me um there was one person and he connected with me with yeshiva's um and I go to one of the rabbis he do me a test he saw that I'm not so bad in gamore and they accept me today Shiva that was the the test that they do they do to me and there were no friends you don't go with friends from Tel Aviv no no no it was just me just you and how was Yeshiva how did it go to start there the start was not going not going well because as I said at that time all my family was falling apart my father left the house my mother was not working my sister was in the Army so I wasn't in the school as they as the family thought that I should do and I wasn't in good um good spirit a good spirit good spirit yeah I wasn't in good series so I wanted very much to learn but when I entered the Shiva it's not working I spent many hours in bed and not come out to learn regularly and it took me three years to understand what I really want to do with my life just from the age of 15 to the age of 18 I didn't did almost nothing in the Yeshiva I just wrote many many different Museum and many stories about it they came from Israel and it gave me a very much but in learning managed to learn seriously I didn't learn until the age of 18. just the age of of 18 I started to learn seriously there is another problem in those three years 15 until 18 didn't like me so much it seems to me that he didn't like me so much so when I entered the Shiva I would show that they welcomed me with open arms and shower me with love but it not happened except the other things of the family issues this treatment that I didn't received from the roshoshive was very bad to me I mamish needed the worm of the roshishibe and it's it's not happened it's not it's not happened so finally three years gone from my life I ready to pay million dollar to to recycle these three years but I can't but three years in the Shiva go for nothing just at the age of 18 I started to take life more seriously and I started to learn Michigan order from beginning to end and Bo Hashem I knew I love her very well and there was some rabbis in the Shiva who bring their local questions to me so I finally start to be connected to your learning seriously in a seriously way after it after three years um sometimes your Shiva came to me and told me that he he understand that I'm drawing to the field of aloha but he advised me that to be a RAV inamis Royal I first need to know all the Shahs and without it all their local knowledge is leaking so he advised me to start studying shots regularly and he will test me on every machete that they finish so first before enter my union finally not ignoring me he knows that I'm alive and I accept this challenge I think it's a good advice I accept this Challenge and I started to learn chance and it says me on every machete that I finished but because I wasted for nothing three years for my life I wanted to do now everything much more faster so I decided I want to finish us within six months and I started to learn myself to happen after a Saturday 21 Pages a day it was seven pages in each say there and it was amazing I hardly eat I hardly slept it was vomish very difficult time for me but I knew that if I want to success with this I need to do it properly in a short time because people listening so people listening understand the people who learned that filmi one page a day takes seven and a half years yeah there are some people he learned but he learned chass every year yeah two shots in six months is not believed it's unbelievable no I I have to be honest I just learned Gamora Rashi it wasn't with him unfortunately okay 19 years old level it was fine most of the things I hope so and six months and 19 years old and you weren't just reading it it was you know I was understanding yeah wow wow and and you met the goal you finished in six months all shots from there the Russia Sheba noticed you you finished us you know the secular kid from Tel Aviv now is becoming something yeah one or two years I became married but before I get married because of my economic situation at home was so bad because my father wasn't there my mother didn't work so I needed money for by Sam's foreign that I needed to study all my friends and Imlay Shiva had Library full of story and I had nothing I had I had the money to vote and it's foreign so I looking for a type of work that could bring me some money when I'm inside the Yeshiva discovered there is book publishing Institute that looking for proofreader to over to go over his forum and find mistakes and typos Hashem I am not a talented I'm not a talent person but one Talent Hashem is my child childhood that the ability of proofreading I always was good in proofreading even I read the paper I find the mistakes in the paper and everything I read I find something wrong so I have the ability of proofreading and the both Hashem I get the job and it's give me a fish call him and I start to do by Foreign among all these forums that I bought started to bought I also bought a prime kanyevsky that sells foreign because in our Yeshiva I was one rabbi who once a week it was a family member with a friend and once a week there is a shield in the issue called Maison oil it was sippu it was stories about Royal the whole world knows about him because of time and I heard it very very very much stories about him so it was part of my it's me I grew with the stories so when I had the money I want to buy all the times for him I I heard so much about him I want to learn his story right now so I bought this for him in the started learning regularly especially the safer the harmony by the crime on all say this captured me and I studied it all the time and since I was Booker I already wrote in to myself and notes on the margin of the pages so after a year or two I got married and it was and in the Coyle we one of the story we learned regularly was the harmony we learned that the intricate laws that we learned regularly was their Harmony um I I had a new comments that I think about them in the coil and I second letter and both hashemi wrote me again and say again it was good the orange continue so the corresponding with between us were for four letters and after four letters I decided that I had to do who is I corresponding with because I never saw him face to face so I decided one day to go to his house in benebra I go over his house it was after my Rave I remember clearly that I waited in his house for half an hour because the rush of people arriving when I came to him first time was it was my turn so if I'm asked me what's your name and I said Tigger so he then asked me which ticket from the letters and I said yeah so direct me to sit down this was the first word that he told me sit down and he started to conversing with me with me in in learning it was managed amazing you know from that from zero to he didn't like people sitting near to him you won't ask a question and go away but don't sit here there is many people before you after you I can't everyone to sit with me and in our first meeting he told me to sit near to him it was Tigger when when what year was it what year was that first meeting when you when you went to go see him in person yeah as I said after my review how long what year how long I sit with him well how long ago how long ago it was something like 22 or 22 years long time ago so he was younger he was a stronger yeah yeah yeah he was he was 70 years old when I first met him wow so he sat down and talked in learning and a little kid from who went swimming on Shabbos from Tel Aviv now is sitting and talking to Abrahim and learning yeah he didn't know about my background but after years he already know about it I had the first safer my first safer was all of it is of a crime work to me on the Derek Ramona safer so when I wanted to print to print it became um you know you you kept learning and you kept growing did you share that part of your life with people in an effort to say listen I was there and look where I am today and I I grew and you can too or do you try to hide it and say you know what that was a past and it's different it depends it depends who is who I'm talking if there's person it's not matter to him what I was so there isn't any reason to say it to him but there is many people that I see that they have their own problems in the Yeshiva or they struggle with themselves so I share my story yeah I have also many problems when I was young I I succeed to do some good things in the in the world it's an amazing story it's an amazing story can't stop smiling yeah we didn't finish the story though there is people don't believe that I'm with a secular person yeah they can't believe this how many swarm have you printed off Tigger until today Hashem six for him and there is two that I'm almost finished two more working on them so you sat and you're talking with him and then what happened you start you kept going back to see him what happened so Bo Hashem I came to him every time with few Corrections on his Forum so
