hi this is D rowski and welcome to the
rowski
show whether you're watching with our
friends over at T time wherever you
watch or listen to your podcasts we uh
we're always excited to have you along
for the experience and it's an
experience what can I tell you it's as
we always say it's a show not a Shear
right because we do all kinds of stuff
here um that uh so those you who watch
myi shabas shur on T any time those are
just shum that's straightforward I I may
move from topic to topic because my ADD
but but it's basically straightforward
here you never know what's going to
happen we have all kinds of different
things um I have gotten several requests
even though it is not my area but since
I obviously excel at almost anything
that I do in this context in fact I have
this expression that uh that kids make
fun of that when they say oh wow that
was great whatever it is I said well you
know I only know one way to do things
exceptionally
well so uh we wanted to have some uh you
know maybe uh cooking videos I think
that would be a lot of
fun uh and uh you know I I I'll put it
up to a to our producer Isel to manage
to make that happen but uh but I think
that might be a little fun maybe I'll uh
I'll show you some some of my favorites
that just cannot be taught you know you
have to you have to see them to believe
them anyway but we'll see we'll see we
always do different kind of things right
now we're in the middle of a series oh
somebody wrote me I'm I'm not sure
exactly what this means but it says if
you like this podcast don't forget to
like subscribe and share or share
subscribe and like or I don't know one
of those is I don't know the exact Sayer
but evidently they always say this on
podcasts you know because somehow when
you share a podcast or you like a
podcast or you subscribe so it boosts
the numbers and then it's more likely
it'll show up for people and then maybe
more people will be able to hear about
this year I'm still surprised how many
people um have uh have uh don't even
know that I do this you know they say oh
you you you have you have a podcast I
like uh uh yeah my sixth year welcome
welcome to uh welcome to reality my
friend anyway I'm just sharing that and
uh we have a sponsorship here which is a
little uh um unclear I'm going to have
to probably say shot in this and I hope
I get it right thank you rowski to come
give to our kabura in Lakewood New
Jersey this week week we are excitedly
looking
forward now I spoke three places in uh
in Lakewood four places four places when
I was in Lakewood only one was a kabura
and that's of course the famous
dfom um and uh I actually was my second
opportunity to go and speak there and uh
what can I tell you it's uh it's such a
um just it's a beautiful kabor and you
know they also have like a like a hookup
there video hookup they say because
there are people who've moved away and
they still want to be part of the she
which I think is just a beautiful
beautiful thing and everybody is uh you
know part of something that's that's the
the best kind of a sheer is as it says a
kabur where you feel like that you're
part of something you're not just um
you're not just listening to somebody
you know I I've I I've never fully
understood the concept of having a Shear
where Reby just gets up there and speaks
for like you know uh 45 minutes to an
hour and then leaves and doesn't really
take any questions there's no
participation you know so you could just
really listen to a tape and get the same
experience what what are you gaining
from in this year I mean I obviously I
learned it was so
interactive that at one point the Riva
had to make
um alternate days for people to be able
to speak because you can't have
everybody speaking and uh it was very
interactive and engaging which is what I
I saw over there it's such a beautiful
thing to see in any event thank you so
much and I guess I should say at this
point that you know at one point uh we
were going to stop production a second
time because we were out of uh funds for
the production um well we have one more
sponsor and then we're out so uh if
anybody would like to sponsor an EP
episode um in honor or in memory or as
Aus for a loved one or for someone that
you don't love uh even someone you don't
like we're not really picky we'll take
you
money even even someone you
despise say uh this this week's episode
is being sponsored for the person who
gets on my nerves more than
anybody and you know who you are so uh
I'll do it I'll say anything I don't
really care you know and uh I I have to
tell you I just just on a personal level
here you know it's hard to track all the
numbers because we're in so many
different places and you don't always
know where things are going to for
example I finally you know met for a
second time this fellow who I had met
years ago and he says I learned in AER
in
Lakewood at the high school it's a high
school in Lakewood now he's in so I
learned in a High School Lakewood and
nobody has the internet except for my
father because he has it at work so he
would download the show and I would copy
it over to all of the you know the the
Bam's uh uh MP3 players so they could
all listen to it and there were hundreds
of people in the and that yiva and
there's a lot of stories like this that
I can't really track the numbers
but I it to say it's somewhere between
10 and 20,000 people who are listening
to the show and I don't know why um
people don't uh think uh think to
advertise uh you know with uh commercial
uh Enterprises you know um it's uh I for
those of you who who might have a
business that you would like to
publicize or something you should know I
have a very loyal
following and there are certain
organizations when they have certain um
you know events taking place they uh
they sponsor an episode and almost
always they sponsor another episode
because they said they got such good
turnout so uh um okay anyway that's it
and I just wanted to announce this and
this of course is brought to you by
Hines the Hines Corporation I'm just
kidding
[Laughter]
anyway so uh what can I tell you uh Elon
Musk Tesla this might be a big big
chance anyway you know we could uh talk
all about it I might have you on the
show if you if you you think you have
something that you'd like to
add anyway just so I'd throw that out
okay um we are in the middle of a series
and uh we are in a series that every so
often something uh tickles my interest
and as I mentioned in the last uh two
uh
episodes um when we last left our heroes
yeah we were taking the atbash of pesak
as uh as is brought down in the Torah
and that is a what is apparently merely
a neonic device Al if is
tough B is shin gimmel is r and we did
Al and B already that means the day of
alif pesak
which of course this year is Monday
night will be the same night of the week
as T
Tish B which is Tuesday night will be
the same uh day of the week of sh and uh
we made the connection last time between
the beginning of s and and Shu and that
that
connection uh and giml will be the same
as rash and therefore for those of you
who may not be aware
giml of pesak comes out on Wednesday
night which means this year Rashana will
be Wednesday night which means it will
be a three-day Yanti even for those of
us who live here
inel uh there's no exception when it
comes to because everyone agrees that
the messengers could not have
reached normally until you know the 15th
and that's where they had to have two
days of P
but even in since the a the witnesses
would come and testify on rosesh and
that's when rashash would be and you
don't know if the witnesses came and if
the witnesses come and say oh we saw the
moon and they say oh great now today is
Rashana and you were in the middle of
the store shopping you're really messed
up should have been in SCH daving so
even in we have to keep two days for
shash and since that means Wednesday
night Thursday Thursday night Friday it
goes straight into chabas Israelis are
not used to this in fact when I first
came to Israel I wasn't sure if I was
going to stay or not and so I wasn't
sure whether or not I should keep um two
days y for not and of course I did not
ask the question because I am by Nature
a
procrastinator so uh so what did I do so
I had a three-day y
r now if you have a three-day r that
means means you're going to have a
three-day suus and a three-day
sheras and so I made a cold calculation
and I said it's hard living in Israel
you leave all of your family behind and
you have no family you move to a foreign
country where you don't really know the
language and the culture I always used
to point out that my grandfather came
from VRA of Poland to America never
learned English and when I uh
and when I came to Israel I was like my
grandfather you know moving here and of
course his kids had to make it on their
own to learn how to become Americans
because they had no one to help them my
kids were in a similar situation because
they didn't have anybody who could uh
who could lead them through the
situation so it was hard consideration
plus as an English speaker and a
cultural American obviously I felt I
could be much more effective in America
than I could inel uh the things that I
wanted to do so I came originally to
learn for a few years and then go back
actually into
rabanus and um uh you know who knows
what opportunities I would have plus
living in Israel is hard you know
getting a job and making a living is
hard the terrorist attacks the the the
the wars the missile attacks I mean I
didn't go through any of those things in
America you know these are these are all
terribly difficult
situations and I said none of that
stands up against two more three-day Ys
and I decided I'm
staying so I never officially asked the
Sha I called the I finally called the
pisc and explained the situation it was
m sukus and somebody was here he's like
who calls up at the last minute the ask
I already knew what the answer was I
just wanted to get official confidence
because obviously if I say listen I plan
on staying here do I have to keep two
days y the answer is uh move on May love
as they say but uh okay it gave this
fellow a you know a wonderful anecdote
that he could say over whenever he sees
me designed specifically to make me feel
like an idiot but that's okay that's how
you go to heaven if if you got to suffer
let it always be through
humiliation anyway I I I'm sure he
doesn't even watch my show so it's not a
problem but uh but that's the case yeah
so uh so it's got to be a three-day unff
but what I was trying to do in this
little series is to say that if Tish
comes out on the first day of pesak
there must be a relationship between
those two and we discussed that last
time and if the second day of pesak
comes out the same time ASU there must
be some connection to it makes sense and
so therefore if the Third day comes out
as um as
rashash there should be some connection
between it again I have no source for
this it's my own uh my own thinking and
uh uh I'll share it with you now what
what I've thought about this and try to
put it into
perspective what happened on the third
day yeah we left MIM on the first day of
pesak and we traveled on the second day
of pesak and on the third
day the
shm that parro sent along with the
Jewish people said okay that's it time's
up because when mosha abeno originally
went to parro he said to him we want to
go three days into the midbar and serve
Hashem and then we'll come
back now some of the mam say that was
just a Gambit and it wasn't really meant
to be taken seriously the ramban says no
no no he was very serious if at that
particular moment pyro would have said
okay we would have gone into the midbar
and says the ramban as the crow flies
it's a three-day Journey from it to Har
took us seven weeks for other reasons
but we would have gone three days
directly to Hari we would have gotten
the Torah then we would have come back
and finished the next 190 years so we
would have actually been in MIM for 400
years the way it was originally supposed
to be but uh Power didn't
agree and so he says
okay you know M says look we could do
this two ways we could do it the easy
way or we could do it the hard way you
understand so you want to do it the hard
way fine so es maros boom boom boom boom
until Egypt is
decimated yeah the
the um
the hail
destroyed uh some of the crops the the
Locust ate up the rest I mean and then
of course Mar there wasn't one house
where there wasn't somebody dead and
they said okay we give up we give up you
can go forget everything I said you can
go nonetheless he sent along
shimu
everything that I went through was just
to give you the three days in the
desert so at the end of The Three Days
the show said okay okay kids that's it
time's up time to go
home and we looked at these people and
said you don't get it do
you that was a limited time offer yeah
order before midnight tonight and we'll
get an extra set of steak knives yeah
that was it you you you lost your
chance and Rashi brings down and they
beat them and chase them
away well it took them three days to get
to where they were so it took the
messengers three days to get back and
they told parro and then parro gathered
all of his troops and went the three-day
journey in one
day an exact parallel to what happened
with Lan where yakob was three days uh
Journey from lovan and then he journeyed
for three days until the children of
lovon went the three days to tell him
and then he went the whole six days in
one day similar there's a lot of
similarities between the two stories and
um and then he encamps and uh and the
Jewish people uh don't know how to deal
with it but let's deal with the third
day what happened when we Chase those uh
those
Messengers away the the guards the
guards that came with us Adam raim as
we're surrounded by the clouds of as
we're led by The Cloud of Glory and the
pillar of fire they thought we were
going to just turn around and go back
after everything that we went through so
this was a significant day it was the
Jewish people taking their fate into
their own hands and maybe I'll explain
it this way as uh the y Yu points out
Maas um which are usually referred to in
English as zodiac
signs the zodiac signs are we call them
in in Judaism mazus and the mazas in our
um understanding have certain power they
they capture the meaning of the uh of
the month right so when you see all
those signs and you see the fish that's
because the masle of ad is
Doug
fish what's they call in English Pisces
the fish and
um in fact the gamor says when the lot
came out to other um hmon was happy
because he said the masle is dug
and just like a a big fish swallows a
small fish I'll swallow the Jewish
people yeah so it has a meaning
obviously it's not by chance that
Tish which has rashash and Yumer andaba
all the days of judgment the mael is
Libra which are the scales of
Justice um we call them the mosim in
Hebrew so there's concept to it so
sir um spans three
months uh
Nissan and
San only ER is completely
sper what's Nissan Nissan is Aries or as
we call it the tle the sheep and that
was
uh uh why when we uh brought the C PES
the Egyptians who worshiped the
Sheep Nissan was the month of the sheep
because that's the masle was the was
Aries the sheep and um and we
um we we
watched uh them worshiping it and we
take it and we we tie it up and
we Sheed it and we eat it in fact shabas
a it's a miracle they didn't kill us and
we took all their gods and put it into
our house and said because we're going
to she it and eat it and they didn't
attack
us um there's been a lot of Jews killed
uh over the centuries for
decide people say we kill their God you
know as you probably know this Jewish
kid get beaten up by these non-jewish
kids he says what are you beating me up
for he says because you killed our God
so the kid said if I could kill your God
imagine what I could do to
you but you got to wonder about a God
that you can kill anyway so um uh so the
uh 14th and the 15th of the month is
when the masle is at its strongest uh
Power that's when the moon is full and
the mazas on the Jewish count to go by
the lunar month so it goes by the moon
so uh so it's uh on the 14th of the
month we Sheed their God and on the 15th
we eat it so that was for them explains
the
cleak but what's the power of the
ma it's we were like a sheep sheep are
helpless sheep don't take care of
themselves sheep don't work
sheep don't do anything right they are
fragile um if you ever read far from the
maddening Crowd by Hardy he describes
one of the characters there as a
shepherd and how carefully you have to
be with them and when a new sheep is
born they have to bring it right away to
the fire so it doesn't freeze to death
you have to make sure it has food you
have to make sure it has water you have
to Shear them um you know if you're not
careful with them
uh they they they require a lot of
Maintenance and they don't really
produce anything for you yeah you take
their wool you take their milk you eat
them but but they don't do anything for
you they don't they don't work for you
you work for them and you get whatever
you get when we came out of Egypt we
were on the lowest
level we uh
we we come to cus yamu and the Sea says
why should I save these people hey
there's no difference between them and
the Egyptians when I drown the Egyptians
I should drown the Jews along with them
that's that's how how difficult our
spiritual situation was even a week
later so Hashem took us out because uh
he promised to take us out but not
because we deserved
it and then we had to work to work like
an ox and that's why uh
in English is Taurus the bull by us it's
called The Shore the ax oxen work they
plow they pull wagons yeah you
know he's strong as an ax or he worked
like an ox
yeah I never understood expression I I
worked like a dog because I've never
really seen dogs do too much but um
but it is an expression anyway so
um uh
so you you have to work all of er to now
deserve it and if you do you come to
Sian where you uh stand at
harini and uh you receive the Torah and
that's Gemini which is toim the twins
because we come together as
one yeah and we We join
together um sh used to point out there
are two things that are always drawn
wrong one is uh a heart A heart doesn't
look like this a heart is like got
little things sticking out all over it's
it's it's much less um much less
romantic looking yeah and much more
utilitarian so they must have known what
a heart looked like they knew about the
internal organs we drew a heart like
this at your command before you here I
stand my heart is in my hand
y but uh that's the uh that's that's a
heart so but we draw it like this the
other thing we draw wrong are the luos
we very often draw the luos like this
this is not the luos the gor is very
clear the luos were two separate cubes
they weren't attached at all and we draw
them like this the
tablets
yeah I explain on I said that's that's
not the luos that's McDonald's I think
that's why so many Jews ended up going
to McDonald's they thought it was the
lucos on the outside they were n you
understand that's uh that's uh that's a
big M but uh but why do we draw the luas
so he says it's the same thing the heart
and the
luas because um
say your heart is supposed to have
Hashem and the Torah carved into it just
like the words of Hashem are carved into
the luas and the purpose are for the two
of them to become one and that's what a
heart represents it's two different
people who join together as one gatria
the word is the same
as which is
13 and that's why when we sing at the
end of the
S we go up to
13 because 13
is yeah it's the G of and therefore when
we when we say uh when we
say who knows one one is 13 that's
that's where I come to and then
everything comes back together and we
keep coming back to the one and the luas
are all there because it's one us and
become one
yeah right it all comes
together so here's an interesting
idea the PCT
ofah I
I uh asked about this once on a on a
circus and uh he he said shot this of
Kahana and then later he gave a whole
sheer in the Thursday night she talking
about it I don't know if I was the
inspiration or not or but
uh I said there's a Ste in Rashi when he
describes sukus at the end
of MIM he says suus is at the end of the
year when he says it in par Kisa it's at
the beginning of the
year and
uh I said I heard B Brisa that that's
because was before the AEL and was after
the agel and after the
agel uh rashash got moved into Tish
before that it was an El this is what I
heard SOA said I never heard that but
but there is a perct that says the
following every month was supposed to
have
y and because of the agel those three
months of the agel I.E Tam of and El Lo
lost the Yim and they were all put into
ti
so if you make the Seder that means
rashash should have been in
tamuz Kipper should have been an
A and sukus should have been an
El and only
shatas would have been in Tish and it
would have been like shu shuis is called
atas right the mishna that's referred to
as atas says you go from pesak to sh and
you count seven weeks he said it would
have been the same thing with sukus you
would have had sukus then you would have
counted seven weeks until he came to
shis and that would have been like Shu
just like shuis is a celebration of the
Torah so
too is a celebration of the T that's why
he
became so that's what he said to me in
that suus later he gave a she and he
said what does it mean rashash would
have come
out in uh in
tamuz right
the world was created on rashash right
that's why it's the new
year so you know there's a famous Mar
between Yeshua and Reza when the world
was created was the World created in
Tish or in
Nissan it sure seems like we're saying
it was created in
t today's the birth of the of the year
of of of the world you know and
uh it's the beginning Etc
but in fact we POS Yeshua the world is
created in Nissan and if that's the case
then
um why do
we um have rashash Shana on the first of
Tish it has nothing whatsoever to do
with
rashes should be what we call
rashash so there's a famous
Ron that says the following
yam Kipper is in a historical context
what
happened mosha broke the luos on Shas
came down with the luos he saw we built
the agel the golden calf he broke the
luos broke the tablets goes back up for
another 40 days and nights and gets God
to agree not to destroy the Jewish
people but he will not you
know he's not going to stay with us
anymore um mosha takes his C his tent
and sets it up outside of the M outside
of the camp and he calls it the Y moed
which later is what we call the
mishan and the
cloud goes with Moshe and that's it the
Jews are left and they don't want to
live that way they want to get it back
so there's a 40-day period where mosha
goes up on roses
El and Davin for the next 40 days and he
comes down on the 40th Day which is
yipper with the second set of luos to
show thatu forgave us says the ran it it
wasn't all the
same yeah there was a change that took
place yeah
um there was a
um mosha was doing for a whole
month and Hashem was sticking to his
guns and on Russ sh says the Run he
finally
changed you know wrote a different R and
he decided okay keep talking let me hear
what you have to say and for the next uh
10 days Hashem became more and more
receptive until the end he gave him the
second luas
and M came down with an Kipper so
according to the ran we don't celebrate
rashash because that's when the world
was created has nothing to do with that
it's when there was a change and things
were going back now I want you to think
for a second here if that's
true then
really yum Kipper is what sham was
supposed to
be right because had MOS come down with
those
luos and we did not build theel and we
would have gotten those first
that would have been the end of the
world as we know it yeah it would have
been a new existence as the
say don't read that it was carved into
the tablets read that you would have
gotten freedom and he explains freedom
from Death freedom from the freedom from
Forgetting I mean that would have been
it the world would have reached its
level of complete
that's a new
world that's when we would celebrate
rashash just like the ran says what we
call Russia Shana we're celebrating
because Hashem began to change his mind
that finally concluded with Y those 10
days seek hasem when he's close that
would have been the same thing on Shas
Shas would have been that Russ Shana it
doesn't matter whether it was the
anniversary of the creation of the world
or not according to yua there was a
Nissan but it would have been a new
world it would not be the world that we
uh know about as the um T Riva says if
uh if everybody was blind you would make
a world a particular way and then if
suddenly everybody could see you
wouldn't just keep going on with the
world it would become a completely
different world obviously food
presentation would be a thing if
everyone's blind there's no point to it
AKA ER who is a nurse in a very sad
place these
are children who have had um
neurological damage
they're uh not functional for all
intents and purposes and uh it's he said
to me it's very hard very hard to look
at look at these kids and and see what
you know what happened to them and what
they're supposed to be going
through
and I looked around and and they're all
the whole place is decorated with these
you know like little children kind of
posters balloons and you know I know
little little pictures and things and I
said well then what's the purpose of the
posters they says it's for the
staff because you know you need
something to be able to keep going yeah
just to just to give you the strength to
keep
going so if all those kids suddenly woke
up
it would be a different
world that's what it means when mhia
comes it'll be a different world if we
would have gotten those first luos the
world that we know would not be that
world anymore it would be a completely
different world we lost those
luos that's why thees says that it's
called
sh because all we can celebrate is the
weeks of preparation we never got that
Torah the the luas we were supposed to
get on Shas got broken but that would
have been rashash it would have been a
new
existence there was a process of us
going from being sheep to working like
an ox and being able to come close
toes the first day the second
day mosha was taking us along we were
doing what we were
doing on the third day when we fought
the shimm and we chased them away we
stood up and said now we're going to do
something for ourselves we're not just
going to be sheep we're gonna we're
going to stand up and be
men right it says when we came out of
MIM we were
like like a newborn baby being pulled
out of the womb we stood at Hari in
order to get married you have to be an
adult and becoming an adult is a
process some people never become adults
they stay kids forever but the process
of growing up and maturing and becoming
an adult that's something that we have
to strive to be able to
accomplish that started on the third day
of pesak and when that started that's
the same night that rashash comes out
because on
rashash everybody has to stand
before and be judged as a
person every person has to pick you up
and look at you and say do you deserve
to
exist I have to make a
decision that's the
Yad every single person one by one
stands
up and that's the moment and I believe
that the third day of pesak is that
beginning of the process of us learning
how to stand up and to become a
person okay and that brings us to the
question and answer uh portion of the
program by Anonymous my wife wants to
know why should she want M to come is
going to be harder for the
ladies okay
um I I have first of all a problem with
the uh underlying question it's not
going to be harder for the ladies it's
going to be harder for the
men because the
ladies uh their nid will be the same now
it could very well be that we'll go back
to the
daaa
nid which in the uh
Tyra a woman sees D she's t for the next
seven
days and then she does a HEC Tyra she
goes to the and it's done it's all
over she doesn't have to count the sh sh
is only for
a the only thing is that today we don't
know the difference of what's damida and
what's Dam Z and we might have trouble
keeping the count Etc could very well be
when mhia comes back will'll go back to
the good old days and you'll only have
to keep a week of Nida instead of uh you
know 12 to to 14 days so I'm not sure
which you mean it'll be harder it'll be
harder for the men because we'll be
keeping the laws of tum andara and
therefore wherever Nida sits and
whatever she lies on and whatever she
walks on and whatever she touches
becomes
tumming so uh I thought about this you
know because I have eight daughters you
know and my wife it's nine women walking
around my house and I'm thinking to
myself in the time Mia I don't know
who's who and what's what I couldn't sit
on a couch I couldn't you know luckily
uh I have uh you know I would buy myself
a stone cup for my coffee you know what
I mean and say don't touch abis coffee
it's easy anyway because I use folders
and everybody else drinks tastes Choice
over here so you know I have my coffee
that you know fine otherwise you know
don't touch my stuff but uh you know
yeah when she goes to the mikah she
takes the couch with her you have to
drive the car and you know into into the
into the Mikvah um the dining room chair
you know all her clothes the Linens you
know what I mean yeah you got to bring
everything in yeah so it's more of a
hassle for a man for a woman you know uh
I don't know that it becomes any more
difficult for her than it already is if
anything it might become
easier but um uh but that to me is uh is
not really the main
question the big question
is
I don't want to win the power
ball because if I win the Power Ball and
I get $2
billion you know how much taxes I'm
going to have to
pay I'm so lucky I lost if I had won
that power ball wow look how much money
the taxes would take yeah but look how
much you'd have
left I don't know how anybody can look
at the world today where you see crowds
chanting kill the Jews guess the Jews
where you see Jews getting attacked and
beaten up and and and and killed
throughout the
world where we don't have a Bas of
mikdash where the whole world is an
absolute wreck and you say well I
wouldn't want mashia to come because
then I'll have to keep the laws of tum
and Tara I'd rather take my chances with
Hamas and their
supporters I'm having a little trouble
with
that
which means in the grand scheme of
things keep your
perspective it says M comes hundreds of
go are going to come to every Jew and
say I'll be your EV just teach me
Torah yeah I know that that sound like a
bad thing have you know have hundreds of
a to take your your stuff for you I know
but if I sit on the couch it comes tell
me oh no then forget about that let's
have a situation where Tom shabas has to
go around and collect food for people
because they can't have food to eat for
chabas that's better a much better
situation you know yeah that's the kind
of world I want to live in oh you
know my sister-in-law shal olowski Al
Shalom just passed away and uh you know
from
yla so I'd much rather have people die
of diseases than have to have some kind
of inconvenience in my life you know
listen you know death comes to everybody
so goodbye you know I have no cures no
way I can help them that's okay you know
God is being disgraced his name is being
you know cursed and blasphemed all over
the world yeah but at least I I don't
have to worry about taking my clothes to
the mck afterwards I I'm having a lot of
trouble wrapping my head around this
question uh I can only hope that you
misunderstood what your wife was trying
to say CU men very often do
that okay and our next question comes
from a popular listener by Anonymous
what is your favorite pesak food I'm so
glad you asked this question because
this is one of the things I was thinking
of about having a cooking show and maybe
we'll do it beforehand um I uh I eat gab
I eat
gab that's uh I think my family's
been certainly my parents did but okay
you know we grew up in Long Island and
we used to buy strites matzas you know
we heard R iron salich used to sleep in
the factory you know they were very
coach for stres matzas you know I get
married my father-in-law says to me
stries matzas only 18 minute
matzas okay so I got 18 minute Matas by
the way you know that once you change
from regular monsters that means half
the products in America you can't eat
cuz has mat m in it you know but fine 18
minut mat I came to Israel they said 18
minut matzas I wouldn't give that to an
Arab only mat fine I ate mat all time
and then people said you buy any mat
only so uh fine but I ain't doing gab
BR I'm not giving a g BR I mean there's
a limit you know at some point you just
have to say this just isn't worth it
anymore that's me that's me what can I
tell you so my favorite P food
undoubtedly is a
matab now let me explain to you the
difference between matab and scrambled
eggs okay I know people some of them are
related to me through marriage who say
they're making a matah pry and they're
not they're taking eggs and matzah and
they Stir It Up in a frying pan kilu
it's a mat that's not a
matab that's scrambled m and eggs yeah
mat Bri my father taught me how to make
it and uh and uh you have to be careful
yeah got to be careful kids don't try
this at home um there's different
proportions yeah some do two matzes to
four eggs some
do um two and a half matzas to four eggs
some people do one and a half matzas to
four eggs so it's I guess it depends
really how eggy you want it yeah um he
would crumble up the matzas into a
strainer and pour hot water from the uh
from the hot water heater special one
for pouring even when we got an N we
kept the little one to be able to pour
the hot water on the uh on the matah
yeah you let it let it dry and then you
put it into the egg mixture mix it up
add salt how much salt I don't know how
much salt did you want you the the
salt's a tricky thing you know and uh
add salt you Stir It Up and then take a
frying pan you got to make sure you have
the right size frying pan if it's too
wide the whole thing will spread out and
there'll be nothing if it's too uh small
then it becomes too thick and the inside
doesn't get cooked get the right size
frying pan for your amount and that's
why if you have a small frying pan then
definitely go with the uh one and a half
matzas to uh three or four eggs yeah do
it that way and mix it up you add some
oil to it make sure it's hot the biggest
mistake people make is it's not hot and
then they uh uh the thing goes into the
pan it doesn't it doesn't cook right
away it gets stuck to the bottom to make
sure it's really hot you
pour it in and you spread it out and
then you put foil on top top of it if
you have a frying pan with a cover then
I'm not even talking to you but you
either put fryer for that I actually
have a Corell plate uh from our Corell
pesak set we only have we had bought a
set for four when we first got married
so we it's not very practical but it's
perfectly fits on top of my frying pan
and I put it on there and I wait I wait
uh how long a lot depends on on uh on
your stove etc etc but I would say give
it about three minutes and then I take
off the top and the bottom should be
more or less cooked and the top should
begin begin to beginning you shake the
pan a little bit to make sure it's not
stuck if it is stuck then you have to
take a spatula and loosen it
around
now uh my
father Shalom would give it a little
spin flip it and and and catch it in
midair into the pan and then you cook
the other side for a minute minute and a
half and then you slide it right out
it's terrific if you're a coward so you
take it and slip it onto that Corell
plate that you have and then you turn it
back in and make sure that you don't you
have to do it in one fluid motion
otherwise some of it will drip in and
yeah turn it over and get it cooked and
that's it how do you eat it there's two
uh there's two different ways to eat it
sweet or savory meaning you could just
put salt on it and eat it that way which
is very good or you could eat it like a
pancake and you could put pancake syrup
on it you could put sugar on it and uh
different been hug him different been
huging so uh so that to me is for sure
my favorite pace of food and in fact I
think it finally healed but you know I
had put a lot of oil in the pan more
than I really should have and I flipped
it
successfully and when it fell the hot
oil splattered all over my arm I got
this big
burn it slowed me down but it didn't
stop me I had two more matabar I had to
make because we had a lot of people over
now obviously that's
supposed the way my minut is to make it
at G and like I say uh you know that's
probably my favorite PES food now my
good friend mha David who is on a number
of my online shorum and uh fact fat came
to project Inspire convention so we
could spend shabas together um he uh he
insists that even though he's kidish
that you can mix the Mata with eggs and
it doesn't become G and he has a egg in
mat
mat I don't
know it's not my M to make it that way
you have to pour the hot water on top of
it but uh but he says it comes out very
good good so you know anybody who wants
and I'm sure you could leave a comment
then he'll be happy to answer you what
his particular method
is okay and the next question is by TM
if the reason we have to go through n
yonos in this world is so that our in
the next World should not feel like
mat getting a gift for free then why
could give us this while creating for us
the pleasure
as if we worked to get it can't Hashem
do
everything there who I heard addressed
this question a number of
times um because when he gets asked this
question he says the reason we're in
this world is to earn
uh because otherwise it'll be um Ned
Thea the bread of embarrassment because
we didn't earn it we were just handed to
it and then he would ask this question
he would say but couldn't hashe just put
us into Alaba and have us give the
pleasure already and he says I guess
ultimately we'll never know the
answer so that's very problematic
because the Z Kadesh is answering the
question M they also understood this
question
too so I heard a recording one rakab
Weinberg where he gives an answer and
uh it's it's a very very powerful answer
if you think about
it what is the greatest pleasure go to
Alaba and get the greatest pleasure so
we think of Pleasures in terms of
physical Pleasures a steak dinner you
know a uh uh you know uh you know heated
swimming pool you know cold drink those
kind of things the pleasure of Haba
andil speaks this
out the pleasure OFA is being close with
a and every relationship you have to
work
at and if a relationship is wished on
you and not by your choosing you don't
enjoy
it um the uh
classic example is everybody knows
parents love children much more than
children love parents and in fact Rashi
says that if your father is breaking
into your house to steal even though
there's a den that a person who's in a
tunnel leading into your house you can
kill him because if he's that determined
to rob you he'll kill you too not if
it's your father but if it's your son
you can kill him because he'll kill you
yeah and uh uh what's the reason for
this and when I ask this to audiences of
all Stripes all around the world I say
who loves par people more parents loving
children or children loving parents
everybody says parents love children why
because they chose that
relationship every kid can always say I
didn't ask to be
born the parents made a choice to bring
these people into this
world the children didn't choose the
relationship so if the greatest thing is
going to be relationship with a
KES then um then if you don't work on
that relationship you don't have a real
relationship it's not
real and then he
says if you go a little deeper you'll
realize that the greatest pleasure is
not having relationship with Hashem it's
being Hashem to be
so that you
are
you are on that level I'm not relating
to you I am like we said by the luos the
the tumim the twins the two
attached that become one yeah that's the
ideal the ideal is to be so close that
jish
attached there's no way to get that
without earning
it because the thing about a k baru is
he's independent
he uh is unlimited he makes choices
because he wants to if a kesu doesn't
allow us to make any choices then we're
the least like a
kesu we're just an
animal okay so listen to what the
assumption is create me put me in
alaba and fool me into thinking I'm
having the greatest pleasure and really
not so what's the point to that I don't
even have to make people just make a
computer program push a button and it
goes happy happy happy happy happy happy
it's not experiencing anything God's not
giving you the greatest pleasure he's
tricking you into thinking you got the
greatest PR that's
cruel why would he do that what's the
point what's the point of making anybody
but if I can create a person who is
independent and he can learn learn how
to grow and become
like you can do this on your own and
then relate
to not like a computer program or an
animal or a child but like a marriage
two equals together that's the purpose
of life there's no purpose to fooling
people into thinking they're getting the
greatest pleasure they're
not I hypnotize you and and you you
think that you know you're married and
you have a happy marriage and you've got
kids and you got a job and the whole
thing is nothing you're nothing you're
nothing that's just sick what's the
point of that this is a meaningless life
in order to have a meaningful life he
wants you to get the pleasure for real
not to trick you into
it okay so that's it for this episode if
you want to find out more about the show
