hi this is david rolofsky and welcome to
another episode of the rubber allow ski
show
and whether you're watching with our
friends over at tour anytime i tour
anytime whoever you watch or listen to
your podcast
it's always wonderful to have you along
for this exciting adventure
um
we're going to start with our
sponsorship
the episode is sponsored uh by michael
stern
to spread the word about the new book
is the good book bad a traditional
jewish response
to the moral indictments
of the bible
has huskamus by reverend zev left of
aaron opianski and a forward by rabbi
dr david gottlieb
um this is a fascinating book
and it is so incredibly
important look the torah has been under
attack
uh
for centuries
if not millennia
spinoza
would attack uh
things in the
torah thomas paine the age of reason tax
things uh in the scopes trial
uh clarence darrow that was most of his
defense was making attacks on things
that were written in the torah um
i remember hearing a debate
between well
an interview with a reformer orthodox
rabbi
and they were talking about teremi sinai
hashem gave the torah or not the former
everybody said of course not because god
would never say the following
i always thought that was fascinating
because you being god of course
uh able to understand uh what god would
or would not do
it's not that you have to fit your
reasoning into kurdish boroughs it's
that uh you know coach barco has to fit
into you
and so uh michael stern uh
took
uh a lot of the major issues that people
are
wrestling with today
these issues change
you know
the rambam
had to address aristotelian philosophy
a lot of people are not really bothered
by aristotle today but they find other
issues that are hot button topics as i
pointed out
uh 70 years ago
homosexuality was punishable by
imprisonment
today if you think there's anything
wrong with it you can be imprisoned
everything is turned upside down so as
from jews
people turn to us and attack us yeah
some
some uh
very not well woman who decided not to
be from anymore
uh decided to make a a a
reality tv show talking about how
terrible torah is
no you just don't want to you just don't
want to have any restrictions in your
life because you obviously have issues
i remember uh the novominsky rebel once
i heard him at the project inspired
convention
and he says you know i remember when
people had problems now we have issues
you know
obviously as issues and so they raise
these questions and people don't know
how to respond to it and
uh
if you uh if you read the husqvas
the the makuros that he brings down in
the sources
and uh and the logical argumentation
you can tell that this is a
well-researched and entire intelligent
book because the first thing i did is i
searched for my name and sure enough he
quotes me so you know
that this is a quality book
if my name wasn't there i don't know i
don't know but uh you know uh and i have
to say that obviously the author
practices tremendous restraint because
he only quotes me once i mean i if it
was me i would have quoted myself much
more
but it was really fascinating book to
read so
you can buy the ebook or pre-order your
hard copy at
www dot
that's oneword.org
and for more writing by michael stern
visit mccoylesstern.com
mccall stern is one word
so
go out um
check out this book i would not
recommend it
uh if i uh if i didn't think that it was
worthwhile or if it didn't quote me so
you know that we're dealing
we're dealing with quality
okay a couple of bits of business
i mentioned the last time the idea of
possibly
making a interactive
uh tv
series like
uh shir as opposed to just doing a
podcast and putting up different things
there are people who do that but i i i
the shirum that i give i give two
missiles to charms a week
and uh and the da field me are
interactive i want people to be able to
ask questions to be able to participate
and
that's a it's a whole different thing
otherwise it's not
it's not uh
it's not a relationship it's just you
know you put something out there and
whatever happens happens i want to be
able to interact with the people and to
be answered you know questions as they
come up and to
to deal with real
situations that people have yeah we got
a lot of response
of people who are interested
it's going to be a little tricky working
out the timing
as
producer mikhail pointed out the only
time for sure
that has been eliminated is friday night
almost every other time seems to be good
for some people so
we're going to have to try to
work it out at a time that will
hopefully be worthwhile for everybody
else but if there's anyone who is still
interested in possibly getting involved
in this we're not we're not starting it
next week
uh it's it's going to take a little
while to put it together but if this
sounds like something you would be
interested in
go to
uh my website raviolowsky.com
contact and uh
you know say hey
i would also like to be part of this
interactive tv sheer is there a way that
i could also participate and the answer
is yes you can
okay well
i had more or less
uh
written the obituary on my speaking
career
[Laughter]
and uh
i always say it's the power of tefila
that feel of good people
yeah
um good people have uh power of tefila
my wife being a good person
said to me why do you have to travel so
much because
my entire speaking career collapsed for
two years
and uh that's the power of tavila you
know you don't realize it i remember
once i was flying to england from your
original from from meredith's show
and the entire plane was filled with
either non-jewish or secular people
and i was sitting up front there were
only two seats up front
and i was sitting in one and the other
was empty
and the plane keeps filling up and
filling up
and i'm wondering who's going to sit
there
the whole plane is full they're about to
close the doors and the seat next to me
is still empty
and suddenly the swisher shiva comes out
there's only one seat left on the plane
and he's looking at his
uh
boarding pass he's looking around and he
sees the one empty seat and he sits down
next to me
so i said well uh what luck there's only
two from people on the plane and we're
seated next to each other and he says to
me luck
he says this is
this is the power of tafilah before i
fly i darwin
that i should have this huss to sit next
to a bentaira so i can speak in learning
for the flight
it shows you the power of te fila
i said it shows you the power of your tv
i darven to have an empty seat next to
me
so my wife's feeling was uh
was pretty powerful and so i didn't
really have any speaking things for two
years
people said it was course of covert now
it collapsed the year before covent
i'm always ahead of the curve like i was
careful to lose all of my money and
before the collapse in 2008 the only
thing that i still had left was my
overdraft and i held on to that it did
not disappear
that was my only investment that i still
had you know
so uh
but uh i guess my wife started to feel
bad for me as i sit and
wander around the house you know and uh
i don't know really where to go and what
to do and i just keep complaining
you know
i used to sound more like winnie the
pooh and now i'm starting to sound like
eeyore
[Laughter]
don't you see the speaking engagements
don't you see all the flying and the
places i am going to
[Laughter]
so
uh
so coach baruch who obviously heard her
change of heart
i'm going to america i'm going to be
there for three shabbasan three
un
yeah
uh three three shabbasan
february 18th and 19th i'm going to be
in lakewood new jersey this is a small
town you may have heard of uh used to be
a resort area
and uh i'm going to be there doing an
event i'll give you more information on
the events as we get closer
the next shop is february 25th and the
26th i'm going to be in the project
inspire convention
and uh i already got a couple of uh
letters from people who tell me oh
you're gonna be there then of course i'm
gonna go and i hope to see you there
that would be wonderful
and the next shop is march 4th and 5th
i'm going to be in los angeles by my
good friend rabbi summers in uh
ancie emma's and
in los angeles
and um
so i have dates in between
that we're working on we're also working
on a couple of
uh live rubbish shows
where we'll have guests and music and
you know
make a whole uh make a whole to do
so those of you who would like to be
part of the raviolaski show
in poison this is going to be an
opportunity so you don't want to miss
that so as we have more information i'll
make sure and give it out but that's uh
the bits of business uh the dates that i
have available for speaking
and uh
and the um
uh
fila series that we're gonna be starting
so
crusader
um producer mchale started a new aspect
of the show as you know if you've been
watching and that is question and
answers
and uh
the thing about question and answers
is that
the answers often inspire more questions
[Music]
when i taught in discovery
so they used to have an outline
for
the class
and
one of the
presenters told me that as time goes on
the class gets longer and longer why
because people ask good questions and
you give a good answer
when you give a good answer
you end up incorporating that into
the
original share outline so as time goes
on the questions get incorporated into
it
so
the question answer format is
designed
to be a relatively
um brief
response
yeah
i remember when i was teaching in oil of
gola part of the series was how to
answer all the basic questions on
judaism
and um
one of the questions was about free will
which uh maybe we'll talk about there's
a question about it coming up
but um
the the concept of uh free will so i
gave a relatively short answer
and what i try to do with the short
answers is to make an answer that is
effective
but it's definitely not exhaustive
and
uh the fact that there's uh
sometimes different cheetahs
so
um
robert hartman
who
is of course best known for his uh
his mufashim on the works of the maharao
um
was uh
uh
speaking also
i mean he had an entire class dedicated
to the concept of free will
and one of the guys said yeah
robiolovsky answered this already he
said
x
remember hyman says to him okay but you
know there's more to say on the topic
that's not an exhaustive response and
that's true
and the fact of the matter is
that i've worked hard over the years to
try to take the answers that i give
and reduce them to sound bites
because not everybody has the patience
uh to listen to a whole share
yeah
um
robert stefanski who gives a daffo me
uh
i give it up for me uh online
and i charge for it
he gives it
in person and online for free
and he gives you a free escrow gamer if
you join
surprisingly he has more people
participating than i do
why is a mystery to me but at any event
i actually uh he invited me to speak at
the scene
um on massachusetts
you can find that online by the way
um
and i it was beautiful there we were it
was
of
we were overlooking the
the kaiser and uh it was a beautiful
beautiful event that was a big squish to
participate
and um
uh
i mentioned this because his sheer is
very very popular a lot of people follow
along
but he also has an eight-minute summary
an eight-minute da fiomi summary
because not everybody can
hold that level of concentration
and that's why uh
i forgot who it was there was one french
philosopher who said i apologize for
writing you a long letter i don't have
time to write you a short one
because
to
be concise
and still be able to capture the idea is
uh
is an art form
um it was a fellow
who uh
the cousins for whatever reason
he uh he wanted to
you know
do a tiger for this guy in response to
something else the whole story
but uh he says i along with you each
each uh day help you prepare for your
shirt
so he comes in the casino she says
what'd you say over today he says i said
over khasanesh
he says but it took me
four hours to turn it into a shirt
because the khazanish used to just write
things very
brief
and just with the conclusion
so it took me four hours to take it
apart and turn it into the lumbers and
give it over as a share
the resonation looked them and said it
took me six hours to get rid of all that
lumpness
i'm gonna make it concise
uh
weinberg tells a story about this fellow
who became a gear
because he started studying the rambam's
mishnah torah
and he said there's no way a person
could have written this
to be able to put in all this
information in such uh
uh
concise way
it's impossible
and uh that is one of the
accomplishments a tremendous tremendous
accomplishment and that's why people
don't really appreciate when you look at
the torah
in a relatively small period of time
that they managed to encapsulate all of
the teres about pet
and all of the hashgaffer and all of the
kabbalah and all of the things that are
there that you're able to put into a
passage with
relatively uh
brief ideas
where we learn now something from above
or a map okay i mean it's just amazing
what what the torah is is the divinity
of it and the power that exists inside
of it
so i've worked very hard to try to say
things in a concise way but
sometimes
it needs expansion so someone wrote in
and said
um
my son wants to know how do we know
we're right
and i gave an answer to that question
how we know that the torah is correct
and so i wrote in and said
you mentioned that's the brief
explanation what's a longer explanation
so i thought since the ramban at the end
of parsha's bow stresses that all of
euteus mitsrayam is there to establish a
muna so that the kurdish baruch who
doesn't have to split the red sea every
few years
it was done at one time in history all
of the nissan neflos to establish
accuracy's credentials
and then a fail-safe method of
transmitting the information accurately
and that in itself is uh is really a
source of discussion
i remember uh
mati burger was talking once and he says
you know there are now holocaust deniers
and it's not that long after the
holocaust
so there'll come a time when people
won't even believe it ever happened
what can we do to guarantee it
and he says you know uh make a special
day to commemorate it uh holocaust
memorial day uh put in special
you know rituals that people observe um
write it down
make it a
all these different things and when he
was done he says right that's what we
did with you see this mission
because we knew that there'd come a time
when people would deny it
so it's the sight of a muna
yeah
when we come to her sinai
koji baruch says
i am hashem
is that a mitzvah or not
ramban says it's a general principle
in which case the aseris had dibros
would not be the ten commandments
it would be uh ten statements which is
exactly what asaris had dibros means
the rambam says it's a mitzvah it's a
mitzvah to know that hashem exists
not just to have a muna but to know it
as a fact ryadata
to know that this is true and that this
is right
and not just that
well
you know we have a synagogue and they
have a church we have a rabbi and they
have a priest
you know we have hanukkah they have
christmas uh we have pesach they have
easter you know
um
we have uh we have a
bible they have a bible the new
testament
sequel god gets married and has a kid
you know uh we we have we have uh
you know everyone thinks they're right
and by the way it's a very important
point everyone can think they're right
it doesn't mean anything
yeah
my brother
dave barry who was a humorist out of the
miami herald uh wrote an article once
about people who are humor impaired
human pig
they're not they don't have a sense of
humor they just don't get it
it's not that they get the joke and they
don't think it's funny they just didn't
know there was a joke
they didn't realize it he brings an
example
you know
this is an old column you know he says
like former president nixon was
humor-impaired
and uh
you know so they used to attach a wire
to him and when there was a joke they'd
give him a shock so that um
you know he would know that there was a
joke and he would laugh
so if you say it's not nice making fun
of president nixon if you say yeah
he's a real idiot i'm glad you're making
fun of him okay
but if you say that's not what they
would do they would use hand signals
then you are humor impaired you just
don't even realize that there was
there was a joke there yeah
so
my brother
who has a wonderful sense of humor as uh
orolovskies do yeah
everyone has a great sense of humor i
have one daughter
uh who i love very dearly but she cannot
tell a joke she just can't she's the
first one to admit it
she uh she messes up every joke i love
you dearly though you know who you are
[Laughter]
and uh
i don't wanna name names
but uh
so um but my my brother has a wonderful
sense of humor so he bought these joke
lottery tickets
that you scratch them off you won a
million
and dollars stucked him in a shock about
us
and a person didn't realize it was a
joke
it was a joke and he scrapes it off and
he's so happy and he calls his family
he's already planning how to spend the
money he's not and finally he calls up
my brother and thanks him and you've
changed my life and
my brother had to tell him
that it was a joke and i don't think
that fellow ever talked to my brother
again because not everybody has a sense
of humor
so everybody thinks they're right just
because you think you're right the
person thinks
yeah that i won a million dollars i
didn't
but i think i did
and nobody knows the difference
everybody thinks that they're right
it's uh
it's a tricky thing
and then you find out that you're wrong
it can be a
very wrenching experience
right
so uh uh
so the fact that someone thinks that
they're right and they're very convinced
it doesn't mean anything
you know people could believe anything
so
what are your options
avravino started with the argument known
as first cause meaning where did the
world come from
and that's how
the ghazal describe it
is
the marshall of where he went and broke
all the idols it's not that he actually
walked around with a hammer and smashed
them all it's he followed logically down
every single philosophy
until he hit a dead end
and that broke the idol and after he
eliminated all the other possibilities
he was left with i gotta figure this out
on my own and he came up with the
concept
of
a all-powerful infinite god
with no beginning and no end who always
was
they uh
the rest of the world didn't even know
what to do with this
and uh
i had a guy once russia told me
that
i don't remember it was sociology or
anthropology where he says the greatest
development in mankind was the fact that
they came up with this idea of
monotheism
the uh
uh one all-powerful god
and there is no monotheist alive today
who didn't get it from avraham avinu
who figured this out on his own
and when he would
try to work with people
to get them to see the truth that's what
he did
so he did it
because he figured out if there's an
all-powerful
infinite god
then by definition he doesn't need
anything
that's why you can never use the term
need or want by hashem
you can only say he chose to do
something
i
why
whatever his reasons were but you can
never say because he needed to or he
wanted to
and that's why he said pure gesset
is doing something for no reason
i remember i was speaking to a group of
israelis once in english
and i said
god created the world as an act of
altruism that was too big a word for
them mother altruism
i said altruism is doing something nice
for no reason and they said ah afraid
that's an israeli word it means sucker i
said right hashem is the ultimate friar
[Laughter]
monitor
said once this is the the one phrase
that's going to destroy eretz these
stories the jewish people in in israel
is mandy freya because i should do
something nice for them
is the ultimate friar altruism
so in order to introduce this concept to
the world avraham became the ish
not because he was a nice guy not that
he wasn't a nice guy but that wasn't his
motivation he did it to teach people
about a kurdish borough by doing
and by avraham doing
that brought people to recognize the
kurdish borough and what was his method
he would uh
give a wonderful meal as we see in the
torah
at the end he'd pull out the art school
benches
with the nc's white benches i don't know
which one he had you know i said
and he said okay now let's batch
whichever one makes the uh
the arabic version because these three
arabs came yeah
so he's like you know it's bench
yeah
make tonight canada night anyway so uh
let's bench so they said well i don't i
don't believe in god
he says oh all right then let's work out
the bill
um
tongue with mustard excellent choice
uh let's see i had to slaughter the
entire cow to get that so we have to
figure that in um we opened with kurds
and ways wonderful appetizer uh let's
see um we have uh transportation and
maintenance in the desert you know
here's your bill
i'm not going to pay that i was a guest
says you're not a guest a guest thanks
the host you don't want to thank the
host so thank you he says well i didn't
i didn't prepare the food
just look the fruit came from the tree
so i think the tree the tree came out of
the ground i think the ground the ground
came out of the sun you know the earth
burst out of the sun so i thank the sun
the sun came out of a big giant blob of
gases okay thank you big giant blob of
gases
and where did that come from
and this was the argument that avram
vino used where did the world come from
now
when we search
if that is the the start of our question
then we say
to where the world come from so that
eliminates the eastern religions
these and religions don't deal with
um
the question of where the world come
from
there's one that says the entire world
rests on the back of a giant turtle
so somebody climbs the mountain to go
and ask the uh
the wise man
what does that turtle rest on
he says an even bigger turtle
he makes the journey a second time and
the guy says
it's turtles all the way down
[Laughter]
so if you don't even address the
question then there's nothing i can do
for you i have to ask where did the
world come from
the world is finite had to come from
someplace where did it come from
so aristotle and the greeks tried to say
it always was
right
so the big bang shlugged that up you
can't say that anymore because the big
bang shows that at some point the
universe popped into existence you can't
say it was always here
so where'd it come from
so
who addresses this question
the jews the christians the muslims and
the various
sects that come out of those religions
those are the only ones who even address
it
yeah
and they all start with the same
assumption
god gave the torah to the jews on mount
sinai
that's the starting point
i
there's a christian woman
she said once you know
[Music]
the jews are the chosen people god gave
the jews the bible in mount sinai
yeah it's true
it says
every christian believes that
yeah
how come none of the jews i meet believe
that
this is because you can believe and it
doesn't cost you anything we believe it
we have to keep shabbos we have to keep
kosher it comes to all kinds of
obligations
i'm just not convinced
there's never enough evidence
as noah weinberg likes to say
be a judge and not a lawyer can you
argue you can always make an argument uh
maybe you could say this maybe because i
forget about
but la mesa what is the reality does
this make sense or not not could you say
what makes sense
uh when i speak sometimes
especially the secular audiences and i'm
making whatever points it is i'll turn
to somebody and i'll say does this make
sense
does this make sense
they'll say yeah
you know on rare occasions they'll say
no because i'll address the question but
more times than not they say to me yeah
one time when i was talking about
relationships you know i remember i said
this is making sense and this guy says
unfortunately yes
it's gotta make sense it's gonna it's
gotta it's gotta ring true for you not
that yeah but maybe i could say
that the
modern torah took place because uh the
mun was really hallucinogenic mushrooms
and they all had a you know uh uh
you know this bad trip and they pictured
this happening
okay do you have any evidence
[Laughter]
could you say yeah you could say okay
aliens came from outer space there was a
book called chariots of the god where
they tried to show how all the miracles
took place because of people from outer
space and okay could you say you could
say that does this make any sense it
doesn't make any sense then then save us
both a lot of time yeah
it's got to make sense and that becomes
the argument so we come down to judaism
christianity and islam as the
monotheistic religions and all of them
agree
that
god gave the torah to the jews of mount
sinai
the only question is did he change his
mind
did he change his mind afterwards when i
originally answered the question i told
the story but the girl in south africa
jesus why don't the jews accept jesus
i told it god said i will never change
this word i'll never change what i'm
saying
the end of the story
now
there are other proofs
right um
revelation uh
proof the mass revelation that the
kusara uses
i don't use that why because it
works with the assumption that people
are reasonable
and it's amazing how few people are
reasonable
the odds of
a bacteria forming
this is scientific america
it's the same odds of a
tornado ripping through a junkyard
assembling by pure chance of 747.
747 does a million parts in its wings
it's so outrageous
as to be ridiculous
and yet people will say that could
happen
isaac newton had a model
of the
solar system
and someone says hey uh how did you make
this because i didn't make it i had all
these little pieces of paper and uh wire
and things and these two cats were
fighting this and they knocked
everything over and this is what they
made
this is that's ridiculous he says you
think a model of the solar system
uh couldn't happen by accident but the
entire universe did
does that make any sense
so um
so those are the other proofs that
people give and things like that i
people try to put out the logic of the
torah and the intelligence of it and you
know and
the prophecies i i don't like to go into
anything that i feel leaves any room i
say like this everybody who agrees
that there's a god who created the world
agrees that the torah was given to the
jews of mount sinai
and then you have to
accept the fact that god changed his
mind even though he said he wouldn't
and decided to to give up on that
that to me does not really make sense
so i hope this develops it a little bit
more like i say the ammuna is
something that we have to work on it is
internal
know it
and place it on your heart
i can't tell you how many from people
i've met over the years who say to me i
know there's a god i just don't believe
it
those intellectually it makes sense but
to internalize it so it becomes a
reality to me in the uh episode where we
talked about you know how to make hashem
real we mention this that that people
don't see hashem as being real and so
even though it makes sense
intellectually it doesn't become a part
of their lives
so that's our vote that during these
times that's what you see as messiah is
about that's what all this is about
matan torah is to incorporate
according to the rabbi that's the
mitzvah to not just believe but to know
that a kojo exists and make it a reality
for us
that's a
foundation to our to our voda and uh
we will work on making this something
more of a reality okay now we come to
our new section the q and a section of
our
show
w danziger asks can you share your
mother's cupcake recipe i'm getting
really hungry
okay
so i mentioned that schwa is a big month
for me
and uh
both my father and my mother passed away
in this month
so since i mentioned all of this about
amuna i should point out that uh
that my father grew up in brownsville he
grew up in the shromashivers home
and uh he left because he couldn't make
a living
being shoma shabbos at the time and
eventually he made his way back
but he used to describe the scene to me
he says i'd go into the
steeple where the old men were saying to
him and i'd ask why
why why this why that they said you
don't ask
you don't ask you do ask
that's one of the great things about
this question answer series is that you
know we we it's good to ask questions
you should always have questions but my
father lived at a time where there was
nobody to give any answers now that's
why our uh
our sponsor uh is the good book bad
right is is working on issues that
people have and trying to answer them i
think it's very important
so shout out to
my father in this 25th uh yort site
and my mother's yard site is this week
so
what is your mother's cupcake recipe
just maybe i'll give a quick word about
uh about my mother
my mother
her mother was the daughter of a very
crush of a rev in vilna
and uh
came to america and you know it wasn't
easy to find jewish people to marry
she married my grandfather who
my mother said didn't go to shawn young
kipper
nothing
but he started the green line bus
company
with one bus and he built it if you're
from queens the green light bus company
my grandfather started that himself with
with one bus built into a whole bus
company he died of pneumonia
um
when he was my mother was a teenager
and he had brought his brothers over
from europe and put them in the business
and
after he died they squeezed my
grandmother out and i lost my bus
company
so uh instead of a rov i could have been
a bala boss
but uh
that was my mom grew up with very little
and she followed my father you know and
uh
she uh
she
your side's coming around and she leaves
behind at this point
90 great grandchildren
with uh more on the way right now
miss hashem but uh
she was a fabulous cook and i've given
over my mother's recipes
for the most part my mother did not bake
she didn't
she
had a very
it's easy approach and since between me
and you and i'm saying this
you know
privately personally just you and i and
10 000 people
um
there are very few things that you can't
uh buy
at a good bakery it's gonna come out as
good as anything you make
that's my opinion what can i tell you
you don't have to agree with me
you know
we used to um
we used to get a uh
we had when we make a chevy breakfast we
used to get this chocolate chocolate
fudge cake from zomix and we used to
decorate it with the um
i think it was the sleeping beauty
thing and it had a you know a hustle and
a collar and a little carriage and this
you know i had people who had been on
diets for 20 years who ate that cake
[Laughter]
we've tried to recreate it we can't do
the magic i'm sorry
it was uh
give me just a moment to reflect on that
all right so um i actually bought a
carriage
it's just
so
the only things that she made
was
a sour cream chocolate cake
that for my father's birthday she would
make this
and it was just out of this world and no
one knows where the recipe is
[Music]
and she would make an apple pie
that was also quite exciting one of my
sister-in-laws have the recipe i don't
have the recipe so she never to my
knowledge ever made cupcakes
i'm sorry so if you're looking for
cupcakes
go to the bakery and buy a cupcake
that's my advice
um and we made reference to this
question
how can i accept that something someone
else did to harm me is bashert
the answer is one of the things about
being god is you're all-powerful and
all-knowing
and as the khazal say
uh there's someone who's high of misa
and this guy someone is kai of gullis
and the koshbar will arrange for the two
of them to be together in the same place
and one guy will fall off the ladder on
the other guy and kill him and then
he'll have to go into gullus and hashem
arranged this it didn't happen per
chance
there's no chance encounters the medrash
says that the issue of
uh
sadly
was one that moshe beno
struggled with
many examples of it but one of them is
the medrash he's by the well
and this guy goes and drops his wallet
second guy comes along sees the wall
takes the wallet
a third guy comes to fill up
uh by the well the first guy comes back
and says where's my wallet so i know
what you're talking about so you stole
my wallet i said no you didn't and he
kills him
so much remember i was like whoa whoa
so coach baruch says okay i'm not doing
this all the time but you know just
nothing happens for nothing
the first guy's father stole the money
from the second guy's father so when he
dropped the wall the second guy found it
he got his money back to the guide
stolen from him
uh
the third guy
had killed the first guy's father
so when the first guy killed him you
know everything was working out
so
we look at situations and we say look
the famous question by aetherius messiah
is why did pyro get punished
uh could you barclay said
you're going to be strangers in the land
not yours for 400 years you're going to
be oppressed you're going to be uh you
know uh tortured you know and then
you're going to go out with great wealth
yeah
so pyro could say listen i was just
doing the will of hashem
there's a lot of answers to this but one
is no one told you how to do this
you wanted to do something bad
and so
kurzweil allowed you to use your evil
to be able to do something that fit in
with the general plan
but no one told you to do it
and that's the gemara with nero
yeah they tell nero the jews are
rebelling this is the whole story what
comes about kamsa
so nero hears this
so he shoots an arrow towards zero shall
i am
goes straight he shoots it to the north
fume veers the usual iron shoes to the
south boom goes usually shoots it to the
west loop the loops and goes back to
michelin and he said okay god wants to
destroy his temple
and exile his people and he wants to put
it on me no way i'm out of here
and he
he disappeared
yeah according to the gemara he ran off
and he converted
yeah because he was not interested in
doing this i don't have to do this
so a cousin will find somebody else
unfortunately there are enough people
who are willing to do bad things in this
world
that uh
that occurs baroque can use
to be able to
make sure that we get what's coming to
us
it's not that somebody does and that's
why
um i spoke once uh at the tituba program
and uh this guy started yelling at me
because uh
i i made uh oblique reference to
something to do with the holocaust and
and you know
no one has a right to question the
holocaust
so the next year i decided to face it
head-on and i and i spoke about the
kinna on the showa on the holocaust
and i said the khazali asked why was the
first place having dish destroyed
they asked why was the second baseman
destroyed they asked why was the city of
batard destroyed
they said uh the richonam asked why did
the crusades take place the achironam
asked why did
you know takavata take place
and this is the first tragedy you're not
allowed to ask why
nothing
bad luck we're in the wrong place the
wrong time
you know it's just that the bad people
decide to do bad things and we say no
yeah a coachbarrel has no shortage of
ways
of of stopping things from happening if
he allowed it to happen it's because bad
people
managed to make a shidduch with people
who had some reason why this had to
happen
so therefore
i told the story once you know about a
person who wanted my job and he did this
whole underhanded campaign to destroy me
and uh
created a situation where i had no
choice but i had to quit and then he
took my job
um and i went on and got much better job
he was a schleeck because it was time
for me to leave and i wouldn't leave
because inertia you know you stay where
you are and uh
and uh coach barclay had to send the
force to move me so that i would get
what i was supposed to get
and i know that
now i'm still pretty upset at him just
like pyro gets punished you know we
don't let him off the hook but uh listen
in the end it worked out best for me
anonymous asks if you don't like how
oscar translates the word
hine as behold how do you translate it
look
you know you remember him look days are
coming
is it gonna be a daze
[Laughter]
there's no use for the word behold it
never belongs in any sense
thus saith the lord
for i doth come unto thee and i thus
sayeth
that i wish i had got some speech
therapy to deal with my lisp
forsooth
forsooth tis a sorry plight
yeah
so uh yeah these these words don't don't
don't don't
hina you remember m
yeah days are coming it's okay you don't
need to behold
you understand when you say braces
barely kim s my vessel arts how do i
translate s i don't
not everything is translated
that's when you go to the living terror
by arya kaplan
the whole sentence structure is
different because english doesn't speak
that way
forsooth
anyway
