How You Can Change The Outcome Of The World Series (Ep. 260)

I'm going to do something a little different I'm taking from the question and answers and uh I have a question that was submitted that I found uh intriguing enough to uh spend the majority of the podcast talking about it may not be all of the podcast we'll see you know one of the great things about add is you can move seamlessly from topic to top topic and seems fine to you but this is the question did the LA Dodgers win the World Series because one of the owner's Sons DED by the labara Rees oel the day of the game does Hashem care who wins the World Series and the doing for your team really help okay this is a complicated question as it happens um it'll come as a complete surprise to you that it is a him that what when we talk about a KES running the world how does a KES run the world so let's introduce two terms here right at the beginning one is called and one is called Hash clus Hash clus means that there is a general running of the world that does this is to exclude the view of those who say God created the world and went away I never forget once I was uh an ADV based Medici and this guy says I don't know what to do I have a non from neighbor he's asking me questions uh what am I supposed to do uh you know I don't want to deal with these things I said well what kind of questions is he asking you like maybe God created the world and went away I said well what's the answer goes I don't know I I don't I don't I don't know I don't want to think about these things you know who knows so I said okay they were shown talk about it they discuss it you can find kazal that talk about it I mean this is re reasonable questions that is good for ourselves yeah so I said the first question I would ask him is where does an omnipresent being go is everywhere as one of Theon said Hashem is here Hashem is there Hashem is truly everywhere up up down down right left and all around right so what do you mean Hashem went away see you think he just doesn't care about the world so that's what we say in he has to renew creation all the time why because when you create something it's done you make something you build a chair the chair exists whether or not you die whether or not you care whether or not you forget about it the chair will always be there but everything exists only Hashem so if Hashem doesn't want something it doesn't exist he has to choose to want it that's why he is if you stop to think about it recreating existence every moment it's it's a hard thing to wrap your head around cuz what that really means is you exist in this moment and now it's a new creation the next moment and now a new creation next moment now that's very hard for us to comprehend because we have memories we see ourselves in time we we can study history we see events it was the most amazing thing there's was a article in Scientific American I I don't know that I can wrap my head around it but this fellow is postulating that in fact there are uh trillions of alternate universes lined up next to each other and when we pop into when we are in one of those universes which only lasts for that moment of our life we think that we existed beforehand and afterwards but it's not true it's just this one moment moment I I I can't explain to you the scientific ramifications of it but I can tell you from a Jewish point of view what it's telling us is that there's a uh an illusion of reality that it just keeps going and that if a k just forgets about it or goes away you know this is a big problem where people think you know forgot about me yeah there's no such thing if a was not thinking of the universe it wouldn't exist so the question is how far does he go so there's something called hhus and there's something called hash prus which means there are General forces in history and general forces that take place in the world and then there are specific ones and um I know you can't quote him anymore but there was a comedian Bill Cosby and uh he used to do a routine on nowhere in the ark yeah and he's bring these two hippos in and God comes to him and says you can't bring those two hippos the both male he says yeah well you change one of them he says you know I don't work that way Noah what does that mean that means that K set up the world with certain rules rules and regulations that's what we call tea nature and nature determines so to speak it's built in there's a certain default program that runs the Universe um we think that uh that's the natural way but it's just a k who choosing I once heard M burger give a what I thought was a very fine uh um definition he says the difference between tea n is running the world in a systematic way and running the world in a nonsystematic way that's a ace he decided to change the te but of course that's why um when he says there's no oil to burn for the light lights he says use vinegar says vinegar doesn't burn he says the same God that said that oil can burn will say vinegar can burn can choose to run the world in any way that he chooses but for the most part he runs it in a method that is uh systematic well we call and the this is on the Mitzvah of where he talks about somebody getting and he says every aspect of this is obviously why did this person get it why does it last for a week why does he get locked up for a second week why does he get kicked out of the Mah when does it clear up all of these things it's all Direct that's not built into the teas is not natural it's a it's a spiritual Affliction you know translat is leprosy but uh it's not it's not the disease we know is leprosy has nothing to do with it and uh it's it's caused by speaking lashara it's a you know certain other things could cause it to come about but how it runs its course is completely hash yeah it's not hash clus this is this is to you there's another example of this uh by um by someone who kills somebody B shog someone who kills somebody B shog geg so it means he it wasn't an accident it was negligence it's a big difference um it means that you weren't being careful right if it was M an accident somebody pushed you into somebody and you knocked them over and he banged his head and died then that's not called a shog shog means uh you were driving too fast and and and you hit somebody uh shog means as the kazal say you're walking quick quick LLY down a ladder and then you fall you know or you didn't check your axe head and the head of the axe flies off and kill somebody it was negligence so the din is you have to go to an IR mlot and you have to stay there until the Coen GLE dies now that's not fair because if I negligently killed somebody when the Coen gal was uh 79 and somebody else did it when the Coen GLE was 30 so uh it's going to change dramatically what our sentence is going to be and the answer is there's all different types of shog there's a shog sh there's always a level of intention and works it out that when this happens you'll go in based on where the co God is to make sure you get the right amount of time that's that's specifically for you and then there's and he brings an example he the he says programmed the trees that the leaves will fall in the Autumn but he was not goer on this leaf that it was going to fall now and this leaf that it was going to for later it's just a general idea the trees are there to do R hasem and they will you know grow and they'll grow leaves and those leaves will fall and that's the normal functioning of the world it's within what we call the normal functioning of the world so there's Aus a general thing the trees are going to grow things are going to go etc etc and um and then there's a where k who intervenes directly now there is an argument where okay so the for example says does not apply to animals doesn't apply to trees doesn't apply to uh you know to Nature as we think of it as a whole K program these things and they follow a particular pattern human beings can be subject to where what they're doing and how they're doing it opportunities are going to be presented to them and uh special um consideration will be given and uh whether that applies only to Jews or to non Jews is also M it could be that non Jews are run by hash Claus and it could be that non-jews also have has so that if a a non-jew is uh in a position to um have a watch out for him um loot K who saved loot because eventually Russ would come from him and eventually D and eventually Messiah so there are considerations that can be put into it um the gamar gidon tells the story that when the decision was made to destroy the Bas of mikdash so the Emperor who According to some sources was Nero fired an arrow towards Yim and it flew straight and then he flew shot an arrow behind him and it looped the loop towards jerus in every direction that he shot an arrow it went towards jerus and he saides wants to destroy his base of MDES and he wants to pend it on me I'm not going to do it and he ran away and he was M became a Jew and eventually very mayor came from him so he wasn't being forced he had the option uh this is of course the B's explanation of parro's Defense where at the bris it was already said you guys will be strangers and you will be slaves and you'll be oppressed so par says I was just doing what I what wanted so he says you'll notice there's no names there it does not say you will go down to Egypt and parro will oppress you there's no names you decided to step in and take this right therefore um somebody who dies we assume that who decided this person will die um so somebody shoots him and the defense ISS well he couldn't have died if aach didn't wanted to says nobody appointed you executioner K never came to you and said I want you to kill this guy you decided to do this on your own so there is and there is watches out so let's uh um so let's go now with the Jewish people the Jewish people get has according to the view that it only applies to Jews but that doesn't mean they ow always getes tells says an amazing thing and uh that is that um when y sadic was thrown into the bar with the snakes and the Scorpions saved him because he was aad which means that not everybody is going to get hash protest are going to be people who quote unquote don't deserve to die who are going to die because they are in as they've left themselves in they've left themselves in nature shapo explained on thises once and he said whether or not you get is based on you that that doesn't mean that a will only choose certain people if you choose to live in a world of then will watch out for you on everything that you do and you can ask anything that you want it quoted more than once salant who said even a robber breaking into a house will be successful if he trusts in a and he believes that a will help him will even help him be successful to commit this crime to and so he says when thees says that well there's there's you know no that's only if you've chosen to live your life if you choose to live um based on nature and this is an approach this is an approach um love un had truim and Rashi points out truim or not aara he made them into an aara what are truim truim are um prediction uh uh devices how you you're able to use them to be able to tell the future to able to figure out what's going to happen so uh he quoted AES when he was speaking about the truim and he said how do you make truim says you apply pressure with both hands and then you take your right hand away and you just apply pressure with your left hand he says so what does that mean he says as you know the right hand is and the left hand is gor the right hand creates you cannot create with the left hand only the right hand can create he said once that's why it says um curve be a men of a small bring close with the right hand and push away with the left hand he says because the left hand can't bring close the left hand can create the left hand can only um moderate and maintain that's what is right [Music] um in created the world and the name Shak says okay till here stop put limitations limitations is G right to be able to create is with he says so how does a you make a uh the truim you apply with both hands then you take away the right hand you only have the left hand what's the significance of only having the left hand it means that the world has been created everyone has been set up and things will continue the way they have gone the way things were is the way they will be um the Smothers Brothers had a uh had a comedy show and uh George Carlin was occasionally on it and he used to do this character the hippie dippy weatherman you hippie dppy weather reports and uh one time he said and now the year-long forecast I see it warming up during the Spring getting hot during the summer cooling off in Autumn and getting cold in the winter okay you you're pretty good with that that more or less is how things are going to go I can't tell you any one day if it's going to be cold if it's going to be hot I can't tell you any one day if it's going to rain or not if it's going to snow or not but basically this is how the calendar works and uh you'll have a hotter summer you'll have a cooler summer you'll have a colder winter you'll have a warmer winter but for the most part that's how the year Works what was is and will be Lovin made an aod Zora out of that he was so sure that he could predict what was going to happen and how it was going to happen that he so to speak was was worshiping nature and the way things existed and that's why when yakob comes to him and says okay I'll tell you what I'll take all the spotted striped and uh splotched sheep and all the rest you can you'll get so lovan knowing a little bit about genetics says no problem and he took out any sheep that had any recessive genes even a a sheep that had even uh that was not Pure White and a goat that was not pure brown he took them out and he says okay good luck to you now he knows genetically even with recessive genes the major majority of the sheep are going to be his he was sure uh that it was a that it was a sure deal this is a problem sometimes in negotiations The Story Goes that the fellow who invented chess T it to the king and the King was like uh oh that's uh you know this is so good I want to give you a reward what do you want he says there's 64 spots on the chessboard give me one grain of wheat for the first square and two grains of wheat for the second square and four for the third square and just you know double it as you go along so the king thought well that's great I'll just give him a little bit of wheat of course if you make the calculation by the time you reach up to the 64th power it's an enormous amount more than than it's easy to calculate how much that turns in into but on the surface seemed like a good deal so he says in fact he says to yov he says well you know let's let's hope let's hope you don't wake up and realize what a dummy you are you know I mean sure I'll agree to this deal in a second and um Yu through the was able to change the nature of the sheep a natur says you know they have the story over there where they stuck in the sticks that were striped and speckled and splotched and you know and and that's what made the Sheep come out speckled splotched and striped he says let me ask you a question do you ever anybody use this try it ask a shepher make a stick with a bunch of stripes on it put it down by the you know with a uh with they're reproducing and see if you get striped sheep doesn't work number one number two is there's no evidence he says that Yakov tried to hide this from Lovin so he's like hey what's with the sticks he says I'm GNA get striped and spots cheet from this because Yakov you're not a dummy you know that doesn't work he says no K is going to make a miracle for me but you know I want to want to cover it up for the simpletons I don't want everyone to know thatu is doing this wonderful thing for me the med says That Lovin changed the conditions while the Sheep were pregnant so he said I said uh striped I meant splotched no problem they all gave birth to splotched he wait to the guy pregnant he said I said splotched I meant the speckled all came out speckled whatever whatever conditions he made and he changed the conditions 100 times cuz he was sure I know enough about genetics that there's no way this can possibly work and uh and made sure that he got what he needed and that's the idea the idea is that if you put yourself in a world ofap explained it then you will live in a world of hash and you will see divine intervention in your life and if you live an average life like most people do most people do you know the famous Story the person says you know if you run away from cover cover will chase you says I've been running around away from covered my whole life and it still hasn't caught me says CU she keep turning around to see if he's following yeah the same thing over here you know people say yeah I trust in K I trust in K and no really you know um the Leo of Al lopan was at a bus stop and you live in Israel this can happen there was uh for whatever reason the buses weren't coming maybe there was a um traffic jam someplace maybe there was a bomb threat who knows what but the buses weren't and they were very late and he was on his way to the hospital to have an operation on his eye and everybody did what everyone does in those circumstances where's the bus where's the bus what time is what time do you got I can't do you see anything did you hear anything do you know what's going on I don't understand andan is sitting and learning and at one point you know he's going to miss his operation everything he glanced up the road and he he says oi the alter of calm would have been so disappointed in me so little self-control but when you find yourself in a situation where you live in a world of hash and you say a k is running the world there's never anything to be nervous about it's going to be what a k wants and the way that a wants it um that's how it's going to come out and so um you know the the the worrying doesn't get you there if you turn to and you depend on him I was uh speaking in Memphis Tennessee and I had a flight out at like 5:40 in the morning and I get a message well I'm getting I'm I'm got up was packing to go and your flight was cancelled so I tried calling the number forget about it could sit on for for hours at that point this was I think during the co and it was just terrible I know what I was going to do I had to get back to New York to get a flight to New to to erville I figured okay let me just go down to the airport I hope for the best so um uh so I'm go down to the airport I wait on this very long line I come to this lady and she says um we can maybe get you a flight in two or three days I said no no no I have a flight I have to go to Israel I have to get back to New York says can't help you there are no flights I said I looked up online and I see there's a flight at 9:30 goes yeah but there's no seats left on that flight okay didn't know what to do I I call the helpline I'm waiting I'm waiting and then they say if you want you can do it chat like you know so I I chat in and they say I'm sorry there's no flights nothing we could do for you I'm sorry so my ticket had been arranged for me because I was originally flying to St Louis through uh Rabbi Mike rinsky if you remember he was on our show discussing uh his Mila that he does for the nations of the world in addition to Jews and um and he had arranged it through m traveled anyway at 6:00 in the morning I'm not going to call Murray on a Sunday at 6:00 in the morning or whatever day it was I remember now it was a weekday so I wait till 8 o'clock in the morning and I call him and I say um there's uh I told him the situation he says let me see what I can do he says okay I got your a seat on the 9:30 flight okay I get back on the line I come back up to the lady and I said the travel agent says uh I have a seat on the 9:30 flight she says no there's no seats I said no no he says it he arranged a seat for me no there's nothing here so I get off the line and I call Mar again and he says give her this uh number give her the the confirmation number I get back on the line again and she doesn't even want to look at to me and I said I have a confirmation number could you just check the confirmation number he says there's no seats on this plane I said please just check it well I started doing like I can't begin to tell you I said you got to help me you know I'm stuck over here I don't know how I'm going to get out I don't know what I'm going to do I'm G to miss my flight I gotta you got to get me back I was maybe three minutes boy was I doing and she hands me a boarding pass and goes to the next person by the way I was in [Laughter] business and I'm getting there and the gate is madhous there's so many people there who are trying to get on the flight and they and they nothing here and and everything going on you know and I figured gosh you know K just helped me through this and I go in I give my boting PS had a beautiful flight everything went great so K can take care of the most amazing things he can get you uh in any kind of a situation and help you out and help you to be able to see it that's the question is whether or not this applies to non-jews and I brought you a couple of examples now you could argue that those examples really had to do with Jews meaning um two non-jewish football teams are playing each other there are no Jews involved there are no Jewish owners there are no uh Jewish players uh no Jews um invested any bets on this there's no there's no Jews involved at all is there hash protest in this case or not and as we mentioned that's a whether or not a KES watches out for them or not and could it be that just on their own merits and on their own things having said that you know that there's this concept called The Butterfly Effect right the butterfly flaps its uh its wings in South America and there's a storm in the Middle East right that's the uh that's the idea that everything is interrelated and interconnected and you don't know how everything goes right um the mush the rambam uses is a guy goes out to work and he's successful and he works very hard and he eventually builds himself this giant mansion and uh he dies and his kids get it and eventually the line dies out it falls into disrepair and the whole thing falls apart and one day the an will be walking by and will stop to rest in the shade of that building and that's the only reason all of this happened so that when you look at um actions we don't know what the effects are so for example the says when Mas comes the Romans are going to show up and say we deserve reward look at all the roads and marketplaces and bathouses that we built and everything we built was just so that the Jews could come and learn T and K says yeah but that wasn't your intention now come on the Roman Empire is going to claim that all of their roads and all of their marketplaces and all of their tremendous things that they built with for the Jews to learn Torah messia has come and you think you're going to pull fast one on a and the answer is no when mhia comes we'll see clearly that everything was done for that purpose I was in school in the early 1970s my rebi Reb yakob Wales atal to whom I uh I owe the fact that I'm airm Jew today so he brought a marshall you know he mentioned this and he said there is this road uh called uh route nine in New Jersey it goes from the Outerbridge Crossing straight straight straight I a six Lane Super Highway and then it just ends at a little rundown old Resort town called Lakewood New Jersey it doesn't make any sense for this road when they built it everything around it was Farmland it didn't serve anybody's purpose I still remember driving on Route 9 there was like no traffic whatsoever there was nobody around it I asked somebody about this once and they said that H the original purpose of Route n was to be an alternate route to Atlantic City and they built all of that until they decided that now it didn't pay so they built all that whole that whole length which in absolute terms serves no purpose other then to make Lakewood more accessible to New York how is it their own Super Highway and he said I've no question that when mhia comes the New Jersey Department of Transportation are going to line up and say look what we did we built this gigantic road we spent millions and millions of dollars on it and the only purpose was so that the Lakewood boys who had to take out the Brooklyn girls would have an easier way to get there and have less bital Torah that's true but that was not their cavana but it it'll turn out that everything that was done in history ultimately was being done for the benefit of the Jews so even what the non-jews are doing there obviously has to be a certain General sense of they're there to be able to um help and facilitate what the ultimate purpose of the world is now whether it's going to be uh you know Joe Smith or Harry Jones who who's the one who does it that may not be hash yeah that might just be whoever decided to step up to the position yeah I'm not even getting into the con once a person gets in charge his choices are totally ruled by a KES like I say unless you choose to opt out um but uh um there were people who had certain policies made certain promises and once they got into office forgot everything did away with everything could K us you know and they think those were their own decisions and that's why inov there's one major character in the play who is not mentioned because we don't really care about him because he's just a puppet and that's why he could be the alter Eagle for K himself because whatever he's doing it says he was a bigger uh anti-semite than than hamon what didn't make a difference K takes care of what Kings do and how things go like that uh now there is another view and the other view is based on a different K and that says there is a Malik that stands over every blade of grass with a stick and hits it and tells it to grow uh somebody told me that they were witha Shapiro who was very tough he could be very tough on his tell me and this one guy had been with him all the way back when he was in uh Stanford Connecticut he had a Callen and he says was always very tough on him and finally I said to him why are you so tough on me and he says the kazal say there's a Malik that stands over every GL gr blade of grass with a stick and hits it and says grow see the way you grow is by getting hit with a stick so uh you know so what does that mean so the people you who hold not like the say that this Leaf fell because it was its time and this Leaf will fall in its time is using that to say that has over every aspect of the briya and everything is um is controlled so let's make some s here if there was a Jewish owner of the Dodges and througha they asked that they should be mat it could very well be that and that's it worked if there were no Jews involved some people would say yes and some people would say no so I hope this has helped you when you have to make all future calculations and uh when you want to place your bets and how exactly that goes now what happens if one of the people who bet a lot of money on the Yankees goes out in doin too I actually asked this question TOA he actually got annoyed with me he doesn't usually get annoyed but he actually got annoyed with me he says says that even a gun of even a thief breaking into a house if he has that he's going to be successful he'll be successful I said what if the balas has B that he's not going to get robbed he made a face me goes I don't know [Laughter] they have to split it somehow you know so uh when that comes in when the immovable object me meets the irresistible Force right as the expression goes but um um but these are these are the different things that when we look at the world around us and we wonder why this and why that um I had Theus of having in my Su I have a minion in my Suka we D we D in on my in my and when it's Su it's my Suka so we D in there and uh yel Stark from uh from Chicago came to D byas can I know herar he should be well and uh he's he's on in years but he was uh he was in the Holocaust he he was in the concentration camps and he wrote a book about it and I'm in the middle of reading it now but you just hear what it took to be able to be able to survive under those circumstances you yeah if you ever read kasic tales of the Holocaust um the stories are unbelievable but one of the stories about a guy whose sister was taken by the SS and uh his brother went down to the SS headquarters to try to get his sister back and uh Nazi looks at him and says sure when you grow hair on your palm and he turns over his palm and there's hair growing out of it and he goes ah demon take your sister and go apparently he had some kind of accident and there was a skin graft and whatever happened and one of the side effects was that hair grew there he says make no mistake I have no question that if I didn't have any hair there KES would have made the hair grow right on his spot because he was going to make sure that I made it and uh the story is when you talk to the people who survived and theh that's involved and there's so many instances where people you know on uh on shmin ataras got away and other people did not certain people went this way and other people went that way there's so many variables that go in in decisions and the has is that if you if you put yourself and say okay we'll see what happens you know best of luck you know it's no way of knowing then okay you make yourself part of the forces of nature but if you connect yourself to hes you could connect yourself to so much that even as the andness says three keys are only in the hands of a rain birth and you could get those keys ASI did you could you can be that close to okay so I hope this answers your question and uh you know could it have been I I I tell you the truth I haven't followed Sports years I didn't even know this was going on but if so I definitely would have put in a good word for the for the Dodgers because all of my brothers uh were Yankee fans and so I always rooted against the Yankees just because I'm a contrary person so anyway that's the story okay and that brings us to the question and answer portion of our program the how do you learn Y how do you learn Y how do you learn all of the who were giving to is are they are they supposed to say everything is good and everything is great and everything's wonderful were they supposed to point out the problems no it's not L if uh we told these things because we're supposed to learn from it more than just learn from it every day we're supposed to say remember what happened to Miriam because she spoke lashar every single day was supposed to remember that she did something wrong coach wants us to do that anytime there are stories in uh the kazal they're always there to teach us something they're not just telling us stories and if there's a story about somebody who did something or said something is to teach us a story like the dramatic story of uh there were these young girls and they H came to this that they should put him up into his attic and um and uh so that nobody would bother the girls in the middle of the night he got a desire for them this and I think it was I'm not 100% sure and it says he slid the ladder over very heavy ladder and he climbs up to the attic to do something immoral with these girls and he was halfway up and he started screaming fire fire fire and everybody came running and said there's the fire and then they look at the ladder and they look at him they look at the girls looking down from above they add up two and two and they say what were you doing here he says it was the fire of TAA he says why would you embarrass yourself this way he says better to be embarrassed in this world to be embarrassed in the next World obviously that's did to teach us the story the story that you know lein the MH in in the pich I may have told this story um Usher Rubenstein tells the story that they were going to him one purum and uh and he's very depressed there's a story in the paper businessman killed his partner almost never happened in Israel that the Jew would kill another Jew and he says you know why he killed his business partner and I never killed anybody I didn't have enough motivation but if I was pushed enough I'm just a human being I could do it too so one of my favorite stories is RI I think it's RI and I didn't look this up I used to learn every day with uh with ELO and Navi and one time in sh he says Elio is a captain right he's mid he's strict he's not easygoing he's really a tough guy Captain the next day ELO doesn't come to Lear with him the next time he comes to learn with him he says why didn't you come to Lear with me he says cuz you called me a captain he says well you see I was right CU because I said that you didn't come to learn with me so all of these stories are only there for us to be able to learn a lesson from and uh to be able to make improvements in our own life okay by Anonymous what if someone I work with is AAR do I need to leave my job and the short answer is it depends if you're saying I have no choice but to listen to the lar and you know the gar says inas why are you your fingers shaped like pegs so if someone's speaking L and you can stick them in your ear and then it says what's the purpose of this little flap at the bottom of your ear so that you can tuck it into your ear if you hear somebody speaking lashar so Zev left he asked what do I need two examples for he says because there's another third example that's get up and leave you know so he says what are the three things so sometimes you're hearing lar and uh you know that there's no way I'm going to be able to give pick yourself up and leave sometimes somebody speaking lash and Hara and you can't get out of it you're on a bus you know you're in a you're in a you know a train Carriage you can't get out put your fingers in your ear to say not not only do I not want to listen but I'm going to make a moral point that what you're saying is wrong and bad um what's the purpose of this sometimes you're hearing lashar and it's not us I.E somebody goes over and speaks to this boy's rebi about the boy for a he's allowed to ask and the re is allowed to tell but you're not allowed to listen so then you you put the little flaps in your ears so that you don't listen so the question is can are you do you have to listen to the lanara or can you get away from it and if you have to listen to the lan can you put in ear plugs like the little piece of your ear here or headphones or something so you don't have to listen to it or do you have no Choice I.E it's your boss soins beish that to avoid a Mitzvah you have to be prepared to give up everything you own down to the last penny so if the only way that you can um uh keep your job is to listen to lanara or speak lashara then you can't work there you have to be prepared to lose your job rather than to be over this tremendous iser and a person who just thinks I'll sit there and like you know I'll deal with it so I got to tell you a story I went to speak um at a k uh that had just finished learning Hil and on the side and uh they put out a um a small safer on H I guess you would call it maybe you know count on and R says to me just read the introduction in the introduction it tells the following story baman tells this story about a RV in Arizona if I recall correctly the name was abolafia but I'm not 100% sure I don't remember off the top of my head anyway he had to arrange something with a G and he had to fly somewhere to to take care of it and he calls up and he gets the last seed on the plane and uh it's a middle seed kve on and he's sitting next to a very very large black person very large black person okay um so he uh tries to make conversation and he says what's your name and the guy says sha he goes okay um doesn't want to talk so he takes out his safer and it wasas and he starts learning and the black fellow points to the word h he says what is that he says well those are two Hebrew words is the name of the par says what does it mean it means the laws of the Torah why those two words he lifts up his sleeve and he has on his arm a tattoo that says and uh of course the r is shocked and he says where'd you get this tattoo he says when I was born my father gave it to me he says CU he said there's a tradition in China that if you get this tattooed you'll always be successful he said that sounds a little strange he says you have your father's number I want to give him a call says sure she goes up the father and he says listen I was sitting next to your son on the plane and I noticed his tattoo he says yes he says what's the purpose of this tattoo so he says uh well you know there's a tradition in China that if you tattoo this onto your body then you'll always be successful and the r said you think I'm some kind of an idiot who are you what's the story let's get to the bottom of this so the guy says okay so I was learning in panovich he says he a from yid and then he got married and had a couple kids and he couldn't afford to support his family so I went to Shak my rebi and I asked him if uh if uh I could go out to work he says well if you can find a job where you can still you know keep up learning Sader then you if you have no choice go says I found a job and it was a great job it was night hours so Mom was able to learn during the day and I worked at night and I was the only one in the office and it was great and after a while the cleaning schedule apparently changed I don't know how long this was and the cleaning staff would come in when I was working there at night and there was this one black woman who was the cleaner in the office and I realized Yik there's nobody here at night it's just me and her the time of Y so I went to a and I said reie what do I do he says can you change around your hours he goes I tried he goes then you have to quit he says but Reby but I won't be able to support my family this is the only job I have I'm not going to find another job like this and he looked at me and said don't ask any questions this is what Hashem said you do what Hashem said he said but how am I'm going to support my nothing to talk about so he went back to his uh boss tried to see if he could work out something else different hour nothing could be done and he comes back and he says Reby really I don't know what to do I that goes so he went down he says I was actually going to quit and then I said you know what I could probably handle this and it'll be okay that's the story what ended up happening is I ended up marrying the black cleaning lady divorced my wife moved away to America lost everything and I was haunted by this and so when I had a boy I named him after my son after my rebi I called him Shak now since he couldn't pronounce the he thought his name was sha and that's why when he thought that he was telling him to be quiet he was saying his name Sha he says and after he was born I gave him a tattoo to always remind myself I lost everything because I was smarter than everybody else so when it comes to questions when it comes to a job
