hi this is Deborah Lasky and welcome to
the rabbi Orlovsky show okay it is a
pleasure to have you on board whether
you're listening from tour anytime
dot-com
however you listen to your podcast so
watch your podcasts this is of course
episode 35 my goodness and hours and
hours of almost Torah content brought to
you through the magic of Technology and
I'd like to acknowledge the sponsor for
this week's podcast who asked to remain
anonymous but asked us to Davin as a
reformer for her husband and her
children and some of her grandchildren
unfortunately this wonderful lady who I
know well their Misrata is being tried
with many medical issues and coach
Barajas should give Mohnish the homeless
an emissary flourish Lima and I
know you're a little disadvantage here
because I'm not giving you any names but
you have the ability to say I want to
wish her foolish Lima to these people
this entire family who's sponsoring this
podcast this week who are suffering from
medical problems and without the
specific names my wife who read one's
different ideas on Fela said that when
you hear an ambulance go by you can say
it's Fela that the person who's in that
ambulance should have a push like even
though I don't know the person's name so
it's it's okay it's okay and I ask
everybody that this podcast is possible
through the sponsorship of wonderful
people like this and it's a sham o of
the Mahadevan swoosh lima and it's we're
well into the smear now well into the
sphere you could tell because
my hair has begun to get somewhat unruly
and my beard is starting to grow out I
always wanted to have one of those like
wish of Shiva beards but my beard
doesn't grow that way it grows in so I
just end up looking like the wolf man
and it's decidedly less cautious but
when I was in a valence so three months
I was growing my beard and it was it
came in comes in somewhat white these
days and I went to speak someplace and
they said wow you've aged terribly I
need a haircut and a beard trim and I
looked like my old impish self so but
that's the exciting things of the Spirit
is is that you know you have to wait
chipped away to be able to take a
haircut and we're getting into it now I
have a we have it we have a problem we
have we have a problem Houston yeah
here's the problem the problem is that
meanie shall pay sock for those human
hustlers we didn't have a mini shop a
sock and hurts Joe this has been going
on for thousands of years we don't have
a second day yontiff and therefore
normally it's not such a problem takes a
little adjusting that when you're used
to it being pace out you go out and you
buy yourself a pizza and I knew either
comets and it took my wife year is to be
able to do that because she was sure
that the you know a lightning bolt was
gonna come out and get her you know it
takes a while but of course this year
Schmidty shall pays off came out on
Shabbos which for those and who's
laurits didn't really make that much of
a difference but for us we went straight
from pays off into Shabbos which of
course created all kinds of Halak ik
conundrums like could you go to a
Sephardic neighbor and have a kid Gnaeus
chant for those of you who are watching
who have less background
Ashkenazi Jews do not eat kidneys which
is translated as legumes which is
translated as kidney as' and and so it's
like beans and that kind of stuff so
they can put beans and have hummus and
have all those kind of things and rice
we cannot but it wasn't really pays off
it's just obviously you can't buy you
comets back because it's Chaves so if so
if a smarty who's allowed to have those
things during paisa is serving it on
Shabbos which is not pays off can an
Ashkenazi Jew have it well one thing we
have determined is that I don't bask in
Halawa here I'm just raising the
interesting discussions that took place
throughout Pesach what you do on that
last Shabbos most people did exactly
what they do the other seven days
because we are remarkably uncreated and
there's all kinds of Allah problems but
ok let's let's put all that aside that's
not what I came to talk about the
problem for us was that we on that
Shabbos Lane Departure session WA and
those inputs laurits
ray read the Curia Citterio fish monisha
paisa which means that came the next
Shabbos we a night shall read the next
para and those in whose florets read the
parsha from the week before
and therefore there is a partial lag
between Earth's shell and whose loads
now if I was in charge there's a lot of
things that would change death penalty
for double parking that's first but
besides that ok so the next week look
how easy this would be yeah we read off
Ramos and you reg mini shall pass after
the next Shabbos we would read ocean and
you
Primo's kadosh IAM and that would be it
the problem would be solved but for
reasons that are unclear to me we do not
double up the Arbuckle cosine we do not
double up Lukas bollock we do not double
up until mottos ma say the first week of
August which means that for all of these
weeks when a person from hos Lawrence
will come to Excel they will miss a
parsha and when people from its rel go
to Collette's they will hear the same
parsha
again and then when they come back they
love mr. Parcher so this is this is a
problem I don't know why it works this
way is the number of people and no one
has given me an answer
aghh normally I say no one's giving me a
coherent answer no one's giving me any
answer I don't know why it is so the
reason this is interesting is because I
tend to speak about the parish to that
week but which part should go I did
speak about do I speak about this week's
partial or last week's partial which for
you is this week's parser if you're in a
close alliance so luckily luckily I am
one of those creative Jews I have as I
have pointed out in the past many
learning disabilities but they but often
to compensate kotas protocol gives
people with learning disabilities
tremendous creativity and imagination
yeah
my teachers refer to it as spacing out
and I refer to it as an active
imagination
anyway so that's the that's the idea so
what do we do so I want to talk about
the partial of spheres over the partiers
because you'll find that in these
partials of vikre there is a fascinating
theme I'm gonna start with em or which
for us and there was last week's Barcia
for those of you in America will be this
coming week special yeah in em or you
have the Mitzvah of as luck would have
it it's fear assignment and it tells you
count seven weeks seven times and then
you'll come to shores right that's fair
Simon seven times seven
next week's para bajar you get the
mitzvah of shmita and you evil you count
seven years seven times seven times
seven and then you come to a you evil in
parshas berroco site you have according
to Rashi there's different counts
forty-nine clueless seven sets of seven
plus forty-nine curses
seven times seven now in parshas taz ria
you've got lots of sevens you lock the
person up for seven days who has for us
you like the bed up for seven days you
wait seven days another seven days
another seven days you come to parsha
Smith Sora I need the last seven days as
of iners ever have to count seven days
the but Sora's process of Kippur is
seven days followed by another seven
days there's a lot of sevens there's a
whole collection of sevens and in these
last pass here
seven by seven seven times seven what's
the significance what are we what are we
aiming for what is fair assignment so
morale 101 at the beginning of verse at
Shem he says that this world is six for
directions up and down six is this world
the point in the middle that pulls those
six together that's seven seven is
really six by one six and one that ties
it all together all right you look at
the mug and of it the ivories I'll set
up the seder plate like a mug and of it
yeah
so you've got three you got another
three so six points and there's a little
hexagon in the middle that brings it all
together six days you work and on the
seventh day you rest and enjoy what you
worked six years you work and on the
seventh year you enjoy what you worked
for during those six years the six and
seven comes together it's interesting
because the Gemara tells us but shiva
drop him when it says that they will
pursue you by 7 roads
it's that seven is a lot unless seven is
six plus one so if it's just seven it
just means a lot of different things but
if it's seven the way we look at it in
the Torah it's six and the point in the
middle that pulls it all together the
little hexagon in the middle of the mug
and of it
that's what seven is it's six and one
now those of you who say your
cabbalistic references it's very sorry
Murr
so you know that we refer to the
Spheeris cassock Vorta Farris Nate Suhag
you sewed and mouth was the first week
is present the second week is goer the
third week is the fairest and on each
one of those days we make a combination
professor - professor
pastor Cho Devore I said with two
ferrous hair has said with Nessa and we
go straight through their heads with
Malthus and then we start again
all right we will pass it were with
Laura Gabor with two Farris and we do
this all of these combinations what's
the idea
the idea of those seven is that the
seven is how God created this world six
days he created on the seventh day he
rested and created Manuka as Rashi says
meaning he made the seventh day as the
purpose the the topless of the bria is
on Shabbos it brings it all together
when you have those six you bring it all
together now because each one of these
represent an aspect now because each one
of these represents an aspect of
creation as the seven days of creation
obviously do so the combination of all
of those fulfillments with all of the
other fulfillments is seven times seven
that's 49 that brings you to the maximum
manifestation of the different aspects
of creation and that's the way we do it
when you have finished that you've maxed
out to the potential of the world and
you move outside of this world
so in Paris mo we count seven days seven
times till we get to 49 and then you
move out of that that's force Lewis is
when we get the Torah it's la mala
minute Eva it's out of this world as the
Torah always is out of this world
everything associated with Torah is
considered out of this world it's
supernatural and that's why I'm pass up
we have matzah we have a seder on circus
we have a sucker we have adult meaning
and shores we have nothing
it's Torah it's above everything so when
you when you reach that 50 you're out we
count a cycle of seven years seven times
seven and we do that seven times 49
years and then you come to your evil
what is your value evil is
of this world all the slaves go free all
the land returns to its original owners
everything goes back to start is the
great level of civilization says the Al
Shifa Kadesh we start counting people at
the age of 20 and in Tehillim it says
the average lifespan is 70 years that
means that your life is in essence a you
evil and you live your life your
forty-nine years to reach your 70th year
which is the fiftieth year of that you
evil and boom you move beyond out of
this world into a different world into a
different existence that's the IVA
on the negative level the more you run
away from a coach merical Hakodesh
burrow hole will chase you with clueless
because he hasn't given up on you if
he's given up on you later doesn't care
what you do it if it doesn't care what
you do then you're not that's the story
of the novice well he said said enough
coach I'm giving you everything you need
that's it don't even dive into me you're
done where we left once explained this
story and when he was a rough in Miami
so they asked him to speak to this boy
who tried to commit suicide and why was
he so upset he says his father called
him in gave him the keys to a new car
gave him the keys to a new condo on the
beach gave him a credit card with
whatever amount of thousands of dollars
a month so he said so what are you upset
about
he says he's marrying a woman who
doesn't want any children I get all of
this on condition that I never come by
the house again I don't want you here
you go you're taken care of you have
been spoken for so there's a a sense
that coach merical could just give up on
you and the Gemara says if nothing bad
happens to you for a while you have to
worry that it could be that a coach
broker just gave up
but the parsha buku cosa tells us the
story that a courier who will follow you
down to the depth seven times with seven
clueless 49 negative manifestation all
the way down know what the lowest is the
lowest of Tomo probably a child sleeping
with their father having a child and
calling it my father's son you know if
you're familiar with this story
it's called mo of mo of the geometry is
49 yeah when you reach the lowest level
of tama and when you reach the lowest
level of Toma there's no place to go no
place to go is up and that's why who
comes out of mo of Ruis who has david
amela who we celebrate his yard site on
lewis on the fiftieth day where we go
all the way back up back up
so these are ponchos and what Spheeris
arm is about is contemplating our lives
now there's a there's an interesting
thing how how are we supposed to do it
and I spoke about this in the last
podcast the idea of working on our
meadows and one of the things we do is
you learn perking of us and empirically
I was in the 6th parrot which is called
King Yannick atanga not part of Misaka
saw those avos is a mastectomy schnoz
and it only has five program the sixth
Parekh is called King yaya touré it is a
collection of Brice's these are
unauthorized Tenaya texts that did not
make it into the Mishnah or as I once
asked on a test what is a bracer and the
student answered the little Mishnah that
couldn't I gave him credit for that of
course and it didn't didn't make it in
so these Brice's were pulled together
into a spoon so to speak sick
Perik of avos that's why it's called
Pirkei avos as opposed to my surface of
us and in there is a bracer
called the mem fest varam greater is
Torah then the Kahuna and Malthus the
Cohen gets 48 special Montana's the King
has 30 special powers but there are 48
characteristics that you need to be Kona
toward and you need these things in
order to be able to be Kona it without
it you don't get it these are character
traits of golf Weinberg formation taro
used to give a class on it he called it
the 48 ways to wisdom and there was one
aspect of it that used to disturb me
because it used to say these are good
techniques and anything you're gonna do
in life and I'll help you be successful
no that's not true that's not true
one of them is Tara purity that will not
help you in English literature my wife
was taking an English course in Queens
College as a student and she had to be
asked to be excused from reading some of
the books I won't mention them because
they were pornographic they were art but
they were pornographic art through a
joke
we've never been able to make that fine
distinction between pornography and
artistic pornography that was the famous
Supreme Court ruling as this is from a
song by Tom Lehrer called smut as the
judge decided the day that he acquitted
my aunt Hortense to be smut it must be
utterly without redeeming social
importance so if it's pornography with a
redeeming social importance then it's
okay is then we we're not good at making
those kind of distinctions just like a G
rating doesn't necessarily work in the
Torah world so that there were these
famous beach movies made in the 60s
various actors and actresses would be on
the beach dressed as one is on the beach
race of course has fine G rating by us
that is uh sir to look at people
scantily clad jumping around on the
beach even if they're not jump around
there'd be somebody only I have to be
careful cuz people mad I come I just got
an email from somebody who said that my
podcasts have seriously raised the
spiritual level of their home I'm so
sorry for you anyway but vaca Shem if
you find something meaningful in all of
this and has made my day worthwhile and
I hope it has yours and speaking of
worthwhile I was asked by a friend of
mine Yaakov Schwartz who I've had a
relationship with for many many years he
has written a book called keeping the
spark are live for a seminary girls and
he asked me if I can give a shout out
because a lot of 70 girls are getting
ready to return to their countries of
origin and this book is supposed to give
them the insights of how to keep the
excitement of that year in Israel alive
and as far as I can tell you do that by
eating large boxes of cookies I don't
know why this is an essential part of
the seminary experience but evidently
when girls are studying for tests they
need to eat large boxes of cookies and
that's why they go pace up and they
suddenly realize that none of their
clothes fit them and they're only
entitled to one seat so so during this
time of year if you live in one of those
Seminary neighborhoods you can see
hordes of seminary girls briskly walking
up and down the hills of you shall I am
trying to undo months of damage so I
guess if you want to keep the seminary
thing alive just keep eating cookies
anyway but that's neither here nor there
so so the the the truth is that when we
want to aspire
- something in Terra so Tyra if you want
to go into English literature is not
necessarily going to help you know
tsubame vero help your friend is not
going to help you if you're pre-med
premed
you have to be able to make the cut it
tends to be somewhat vicious I've
mentioned this in the past is this
historical phenomenon called the
lightbulb jokes where and they would say
how many this does it take to change
Aleppo how many that does it take to
change a lightbulb
so one of the jokes was how many pre-med
students does it take to let change a
lightbulb the answer is - one to change
the lightbulb but want to kick the chair
out from under him because it's highly
competitive so if I want to make it at
medical school no sabella saveiro is not
necessarily a great technique steven
kobe and his seven Habits of Highly
Effective People right when a person
gets into business we try to teach them
how to work together as a team but if
you do that in school we call it
cheating so it's interesting
no zero Mescalero might be a good
attribute but it's not gonna help you
when you're trying to you know write
your reports and do your homework in
school simcha simcha happiness that's
one of the 48 things that's definitely
not essential when you're gonna do
mathematics I think if you were happy
you wouldn't be doing mathematics
mathematics is a particular personality
this guy won the Nobel Prize in
mathematics he was schizophrenic he was
talking to people it didn't exist but he
was great at math you need simple know
so these 48 things are aspects of
yourself that you need to change in
order to be able to be Michael Taylor
derech Eretz cutting lithography you
mentioned in it last week
the more that you develop yourself into
a person who's Roy to be Mocambo Tigra
the gradient layer to do it and
therefore the belly must have bring down
that these 48 can Yaya Tyra are the 48
you should be working on during the 48
days of Spheeris are oh man wait stop
reverse that I thought there were 49
days that is correct but just as I
mentioned there are six days and the
seventh day is the one that pulls it all
together there are six years and the
seventh year the shmita pulls it all
together after you work on all of these
48 aspects on the last day you're
supposed to hyzer them all over and
unite them together in one hole to make
yourself into a person who is a
synthesis of all of these different
aspects my nephew rabbi Navi Orlovsky
has started some type of a whatsapp
group I'm talking now about things I
don't really understand but I'm going to
repeat the words wherein there are
famous personalities like myself also
rabbi Arlovski there's a number of rabbi
Lau skis running around you know the
podcast I did with my son it was the
rabbit Alaska show yeah but when I spoke
in my nephew school some of the kids
were saying oh yeah booyah laughs skis
uncle is here I Raffaello have skis
uncle anyway he has collected a group of
personalities to speak about the members
varam and each one of them focusing on a
different aspect of it
we're obviously well in this fear sought
remember at this point there's no reason
that we can't start now at least to work
on what we can but the more that we get
down these 48 things and again the
number 48 is obviously gonna be
significant we pull it all together when
we use all these aspects we make
ourselves into a person who can be Co
Natori you can get it with Moshe
Shapiro's when he was teaching pafos
gave shiurim on this bracer i don't know
where to get it from
but but if you can get those recordings
I mean he gave many many many many Shira
and these memorized vironment explained
why these particular things are
essential to becoming a turret like I
say I don't think you needed to come to
be kind of everything but if you want to
be kind of Tyra these aspects these
transformational things need to be done
seven times seven Oscars Armour seven
times seventh against the evils seven
times seven clothes that we get and and
when we go through these seven times
seven we reach Lewis which is lamella
minute Eva which lifts us up out of this
world into a new reality and that's this
time of year
watch these part shows you'll see the
sevens and you'll see the seven times
seven and you'll understand the aspect
of it if we're still doing this podcast
around circus time so we'll we'll
discuss how Circus is these first imma
condensed which is an interesting aspect
but for now we've got seven weeks each
week to work on one of these spheres and
to be able to take it to the
manifestation how it how it interacts
with all the other spheres and to be
able to build this up to that level and
that's what we're supposed to be working
on and that's it for this podcast if you
