We're trying to uncover >> [clears throat] >> the juxtaposition of Parshas Ki Savo to Ki Teitzei. Now, this week, it is not typed up. Why? I don't know. Not sure what happened to the typist. But, here now you get to see it in in the original. So, first of all, the one of the Baal HaTurim, the Moshe of Zekenim, starts his commentary to the parsha. V'kasha, lama nism'cha Parshas Bikurim l'Parshas Amalek? Why the juxtaposition of Bikurim to Amalek? Parshas Ki Savo begins with the mitzvah of Bikurim. Parshas Ki Teitzei ends with Zachor eis asher asah l'cha Amalek baderech b'tzeis'chem mimitzrayim. Why the juxtaposition of Amalek to Bikurim? Says the Midrash of the kingdom um to tell you that Amalek is called reishis. Like it says reishis Amalek v'acharisah ad oived. Amalek is called reishis. And Bikkurim is called reishis. Filo kach tame reishis. Let the reishis of Bikkurim come and destroy the reishis of Amalek. Let the reishis of Bikkurim come and destroy the reishis of Amalek. Now, another thing. Now, it behooves us to try to explain how does Bikkurim destroy Amalek? But, one thing one thing is um is for sure that Amalek is called reishis and Bikkurim is called reishis. The Ba'alei ha Tosafot add that Amalek would grab B'nei Yisrael and castrate them and throw their milah up to shamayim. So, Amalek particularly was against reishis. Um and that's how Shmuel destroyed Agag. He was mesaris him. He split him in half. Um now, we could so again, according to the Ba'alei ha Tosafot, the juxtaposition of the juxtaposition of Ki Seitzei to Ki Savo is Ki Seitzei ends with Amalek. Amalek is called reishis and Ki Savo begins with the mitzvah of reishis of Bikkurim. Now, the Ba'alei ha Tosafot throw in that Amalek was particularly against milah. So, we just added over here. Um Rashi himself says that Amalek was against milah on the possuk of Vayezanev Becha, Kol Hanachal Shalom Acharecha. Rashi says, Makas Zanav, Chotech Milos V'Zoreik Klappei Mala. Amalek would cut off the Mila and throw it upward. Now, a Mila >> [clears throat] >> is the first Mitzvah of Klal Yisrael. Mila's our first Mitzvah. So, that's also Reishis. And therefore, we counteract it by taking the Bikkurim to be Menaged the Reishis of Amalek. But, we want to add as follows, why is Bikkurim an antidote to Amalek? How is Bikkurim the Tikun for Amalek? So, I want to say like this, actually if this is a I found in a Sefer called Maggid Rakia on Purim. How is Bikkurim Menaged Amalek? Rashi in Beshalach says, if you remember in Beshalach, Vayavo Amalek Vayilachem. And so, before you do them, right before that, it says Klal Yisrael said, uh Hayeish Hashem B'Kirbenu Im Ayin? Is God amongst us? Is God with us? Rashi says, why does the Torah juxtapose Amalek to the question of Hayeish Hashem B'Kirbenu Im Ayin? Hashem is saying, I'm always amongst you. I'm always designated for whatever you need. And you're asking, Hayeish Hashem B'Kirbenu Im Ayin? I swear that a dog will come and bite you. And then you'll know that I'm here. Then you'll know where I am. Rashi says, a Mashal to somebody who's giving his kid a ride on his shoulder. And they're going out on the road. Uh there's something on the floor. The kid says, "Dad, could you pick it up?" The dad picks it up. And then happened the second time. "Dad, can you get me pizza?" Yeah. "Dad, could you get that for me?" Yeah. Then they meet up with somebody. And the kid says to the person, "Did you see my father?" The father said, "chutzpah. You don't know where I am. You asked me to get you A, B, C, and D." The father threw him off his shoulders and a and a dog bit him. So, from here we see Amalek comes when we're kafui taiva. Amalek comes when we do not acknowledge the gifts that Hashem gives us. And bikurim is a tikkun. Bikurim Rashi says on Anisa V'amarta, Rashi says Anisa V'amarta sh'lo t'hei kafui taiva. So, you shouldn't be ingrate. So, bikurim is an antidote to Amalek. Um like the Alshich Hakadosh says that the whole concept of bikurim and the reason why bikurim is so fundamental, like Chazal say, Bereishit bara Elokim bishvil bikurim, bara Elokim et Hashamayim v'et ha'aretz. And the mitzvah of bikurim is done with great pomp and ceremony because the mitzvah of bikurim is an expression of hakarat hatov, which is the purpose of all of creation. So, that's the hemshech of the parshiyot. Amalek is called reishit. They're counteracting milah, which is reishit. And the tikkun for that is bikurim, >> [snorts] >> which is the mitzvah which is a a mitzvah of hakarat hatov. Okay. Now, I want to tell you another original idea. As a reward for the mitzvah of bikurim, the pasuk says, "Hashkifah mim'on kodshecha min Hashamayim uvarech et amcha Yisrael." Look down from your holy abode, from the heavens, and bless us. Now, here's the thing. If Hashem's going to look down, you there better be good visibility that day. You know, if you're going to look down from the heavens, it's you can't have a poor visibility, otherwise he can't see he's not going to be able to bless us. You know, for asking him to look down, you need some decent visibility. Amalek clouds the visibility. Why? How do we know? Once you're Amalek Hashem I'm a yam, so now we don't have Amalek Hashem I'm a yam, then in the reward for Hashem could be my own Hashem I'm a yam. Okay. >> [snorts] >> Then the next one comes from the safer Midrash Arab Mazuz that my friend and sell a friend showed me. Amalek Hashem I'm a yam lo tishkach. And juxtaposed to that, the word haya. We all know that so long as Amalek is in the world, the name of God is not whole, his throne is not whole until Amalek is is wiped off the face of the earth. This is the of the of Amalek. And if you do that, haya. Look at the letters of haya. Haya is vav k. When you wipe out Amalek, then then Hashem's name will be complete. The sword of war, and we can add, you know, the Bikkurim is specifically to take the fruits and to bring it to the Mikdash. The Mikdash is the >> [snorts] >> The Mikdash is um the of Baruch. In case shalom. Key case car, Amalek wants to destroy Yerushalayim and be called Israel. So therefore, the mitzvah Bikkurim in shows that Amalek is uh wiped off because it shows the the eminence of the base of actually the Bal HaTurim points out that it says Timchah Amalek like the Gemara says we are obligated to wipe out Amalek immediately upon entry into Eretz Yisrael. And that's why Amalek always wants to stop the Jewish people from entering Eretz Yisrael. By the way, throughout history, let's study for a moment when Amalek rears his ugly head. First of all, >> [snorts] >> Yaakov Avinu all of a sudden he decides after 20 for 22 years you don't hear a word about Esau. You don't hear Esau's um a watching a football game, Esau's gambling, not nothing like that. When does Esau rear his ugly head? Ah, Yaakov is turning toward Eretz Yisrael, return of Jacob to the holy land. Ah, Vayishlach Yaakov all of a sudden Esau rears his head. Where else? >> [snorts] >> We find in the story of Purim we find in the story of Purim for 70 years not a word about from Amalek, not a word from Esau. All of a sudden at the end of 70 years the Jews make known they want to rebuild the temple. Ah, Achashverosh, when does Haman raise his head? As soon as word goes out that the Jewish people want to return to Eretz Yisrael. And then when is the third time that Amalek rears its ugly head? When the Jews declare that they're going to be returning back to Eretz Yisrael from Europe, from Russia, and there's a mass immigration to the Holy Land, the end of the 20th century, the beginning of the 21st century, I'm sorry, the end of the 19th century, the beginning of the 20th century, all of the sudden, Hitler says, "No, you don't." Throughout history, Amalek always rears its head when we return back to Eretz Yisrael. You know why? Because he knows his end is near, because the mitzvah of destroying Amalek is V'haya Ki Savo Ela Aretz. Therefore, the Baal HaTurim says, "Timcheh Zecher Amalek, V'haya Ki Savo Ela Aretz." So, these are all um many of the layers of connection between parshas Ki Savo say and parshas Ki Savo I. So, I would say this project we started Bereishis, it may you know, it could be we're doing pretty well cuz we're already holding in parshas Ki Savo I, we're already more than 90% of the way there.
