Purim: October 7th and the Elimination of Khamenei; Right Back at Ya! {Maayan Judaica Uptown Pomona}

One of the ideas that is one of my favorite ideas about the Yom Tov of Purim is about the very ending of the Megillah where the Megillah concludes with a very unusual piece of information where the the second to last posuk, the third to last posuk of the Megillah says Vayasem Hamelech Achashverosh mas al ha'aretz v'al ha'iyam. Where the Megillah basically ends that Achashverosh taxes the people, which is a very unusual piece of information. Why would the Megillah include that Achashverosh taxed the people? The Megillah is not a history book. The very next posuk says, you want to know the rest of the story, you want to know the palace intrigue, you want to know the context of the history of the story, go to the chronicles of Persia and Media. And Rabbi Chaskel Abramsky points out that what the Megillah is telling us is this is not a history book, but whatever was written in this document was was there for one reason and one reason only to magnify the miracle, Hagalah v'Hestanah. So why would the Megillah include that Achashverosh taxed the people? So one of the amazing ideas of the Megillah, and this is an important concept in Torah in general, is that Torah is aniim b'makom echad v'ashirim b'makom acher. It's poor in one place, rich in another place. Meaning, sometimes you need to go elsewhere to be able to understand the topic you're learning. So if you look in Sefer Ezra, Sefer Ezra we find Klal Yisrael return after the Perm story and the returning to build the second base of Migdash and they can't afford it. They don't have the resources. They don't have the funding. So, they turn to the king of Persia. Can you imagine today? Imagine in 10 years we go we want to build the base of Migdash. So, at that time we will will turn to you know whoever is the the prime minister of Iran and we say you know we can't build the base of Migdash. Could you fund it for us? And the possuk actually says that Darius Daryavesh opens up his treasury of taxes and he funds the building of the second base of Migdash. So, can I ask you a question? Where did Darius get all this tax money from? And the answer is the end of the Perm story. Vayasem Amalech Achashverosh Al Haaretz. Vayehayam Achashverosh taxed the people. He then died. Darius inherits all his tax money and by the end of the story he's giving all the money to fund on the building of the second base of Migdash. So, amazingly the Perm story comes full circle. The the Megillah opens up that Achashverosh is having a seudah. He's having a party. What's he celebrating? That the 70 years are over and the base of Migdash will never be built. And by the end of the story Achashverosh has become the chief fundraiser to build the second base of Migdash. But it's even more ironic than that cuz if you were to have to ask Achashverosh, Achashverosh, what's your party? What are you celebrating? Achashverosh would say I'm celebrating the eternal destruction of the second base of Migdash. And Hashem is laughing. You think your party is celebrating the eternal destruction of the second base of Migdash? Your party is the main fundraiser to build the second base of Migdash. Cuz you're going to invite Vashti. She's not going to listen to you. You're going to knock her off. You're going to marry Esther. You're going to have a kid you're you're going to have a kid Daryavesh and he's going to take all your tax money and build the second base of Migdash. So you think you're celebrating the destruction, you're celebrating the rebuilding of the second base of my gosh.
