Rabbi B - Tour of a Shul

[Music] Is this thing on? Hi everyone. Welcome to Rabbi Bee's Shul Adventure Tour. I'm your tour guide, Rabbi B. of course. Well, today we're going to be going on a super fun adventure through an actual shul. Now, raise of hands. Who has never been to a shul before? Oh, and raise your hand if you've been to shul many times. You might call it a shul or you might call it a synagogue. Either way, it's like a playground for your nishama, but you're not going to find any slides or swings. Instead, we're going to see some safer toas, some sidur and humashim, and all kinds of beautiful things. You may even see the candyman. All right. Now, just a reminder for our tour today. Please be on your best behavior when visiting a shaw. And I'm so happy to see the boys are wearing keepas on their heads and the girls are dressed so beautifully like in their Shabbat clothes. Well done. You really know the proper way to be when you're visiting a shul. So please keep your yamakas and sitsus and hands and arms inside the bus at all times because we're about to step into this magical place. All right, as the bus turns around. Wo, careful now. All right, here we go. We're about to enter into the shul through the front door. Of course, you'll find muzas on the front doors. And don't forget to give them a kiss or just blow a kiss to them. Well, this is the lobby. Inside the lobby, you can see some beautiful artwork right here behind me. Of course, that welcomes you to the shul and says it's a beautiful, fun place to be. But of course, we know the true way to make a shul beautiful inside is to have people inside like you. All right, the bus is going to now make its way into the main sanctuary. That's where the people go to davin to pray, to learn, and to listen to the Torah. Here we go through the doors. And inside the sanctuary, you can see more beautiful artwork to make the shaw look extra special. As we make our way to the front of the sanctuary, you will see all kinds of things, but we're going to go to our very first stop, of course. So, let's have the bus turn to the low. Hold on. Oh, that was a sharp turn. And right here to the to the Beimma. The Beimma is the place right in the middle of the shul where they read the Torah from. That's right. Right on top of that table right there. Yeah, we read the Torah on Mondays and Thursdays, on Shabbat, on holidays, on Roesh. It'd probably be easier to tell you the days we don't read the Torah. All right. Well, we'll make our way from the Beimma. And as we turn around, you'll notice the bookshelves full of Jewish books like Cidarim and Kumashim. Books you need while you're in the Shaw. You won't find any picture story books there, though. You'll have to go to the library for those. All right. Right, the shaw is about to pass by the beimma too. And as you can see in a shul you will most likely find ataka box inside too to increase the mitzvah you can do. All right, we're going to pass by the bea now. And now we are heading up to those stairs and we're going to be heading up on top of the stage and right at the front of the stage you will find the lect turn where the rabbi stands and gives his speech on Shabbat, his dvar Torah. If you would give a devar Torah, what would you speak about? Probably something very interesting. And right above the aron kodesh, of course, is the n tamid, the beautiful eternal light that's always on and shines bright to remind us that Hashem is always watching and that the Torah is always holy no matter what. Wow. Right behind us now, friends, we're about to go entering into the most holiest part of the shul. This is the Aron Kodesh. And behind this curtain, behind these doors, we find the Toras, the holiest things inside Ashul. In fact, a shul without Toras is really incomplete. Ashul is a place where the safer Torah lives. And the in this sh we have three beautiful safer Toras. How many safer Toras do you have in your sh? Wow. I've been to shul where they've had 10 or 11 freay Torah. I've even been to shs where they have only one. All right. Making our way now past the Aron Kesh to the numbers. Those numbers there. You wanted to know what those are? Oh, those are just to announce to the people in the shul what page we're up to in the shul service. And of course, next to the Aron Kodes and this shul, we have some very special seats. That's where the rabbis sit. And the rabbis are given a place of honor in the shul. And we're not allowed to sit in the rabbi seat that's specially reserved for him. But there are many, many seats, as you can see, for all the people. There's a men's side and a women's side. That way, everyone can concentrate and focus on their daing and on talking to Hashem. Well, as we make our way around, you'll notice the makita wall that separates the two sections. It's white and has a beautiful design on it. And as we make our way around, take a look around at all the beautiful stained glass windows and the final view of the shul that we can see everything we just spoke about. The beimma, the aron kodesh, the lectern and the ner tamid, the ner tamid, the eternal light that's always on in the shul. And as we make our way around to the exit, you'll notice some boards in the shul that say names of people who are no longer with us, but we remember them on these special boards. It's a place for praying, for learning, and for getting together with friends and family to dive into Hashem.
