when hashem gave us the torah on har
sinai
hashem also gave us 10 very special
mitzvahs
called the ten commandments the asaret
hadibroth and these ten commandments are
very very special
and very important mitzvahs that we can
do
now it's very hard to remember all 10
of the 10 commandments and it's even
harder to remember them in order
so rabbi b is going to teach you today a
special
hand trick that i learned from my friend
danny
how to remember the ten commandments
using your fingers
so let's start with the first one
mitzvah number one
i am hashem your god hashem
echad so you can remember number one
there's
only one hashem very good
number two you can make yourself like
bunny ears you know how to do that
we do it like this that's like bowing
down we're not allowed to
bow down to idols as hashem says
don't have any other gods only one
so one is one hashem two don't bow down
to idols
number three now the way i remember
number three
is my three fingers look like the letter
shin in hebrew and the letter shin
begins the word
shame name so i remember
do not say hashems shame hashem's
name in vain we're not allowed to say
hashem's name
for no reason unless we're davening or
we are reading some torah or tahilan
so that's one way another way you can
remember is name
in vain is three words long we're not
allowed to say hashem's
name in vain all right very good
number four number four is
to remember the day of shabbat so i
always imagine
we have two candles on shabbat
and two khalas two khalot
so two candles and two khalot at the
shabbos table
at the shabbat table remind me of four
so that's the number four the mitzvah of
keeping
shabbat and honoring shabbat number five
is five special words honor
your mother and father that's five
special special words honor your mother
and father
or even in hebrew
so mitzvah number five of the aceret
hadibroth
is honor your mother and father great
job
you're halfway there number six all
right number six
number six is do not kill we're not
allowed to hurt anybody
so i always remember this because this
person looks like he's trying to hurt
people
there's a bad guy over here and he's
trying to hurt the other fingers over
here
so number six of the ten commandments is
do not kill
and of course do not hurt anybody as
well number seven
the mitzvah number seven of the aserata
dibrat is the mitzvah
that we have to make sure we have a
kosher family that a mommy and a daddy
are married to each other
and not married to other people so this
side
shows two people and that's good that's
a mommy and a daddy being married
together
on this side we have five people can
five people get married to each other
not according to the torah so number
seven is to have a good and kosher
family according to the torah all right
do you remember all seven so far
number eight hmm number eight is
do not steal don't try and steal things
so i always imagine number eight like
this hand is trying to steal
and that's three words do not steal so
this hand is trying to steal
and this hand says do not steal do
not steal ah don't steal stealing means
taking something
that doesn't belong to you do not do it
all right
mitzvah number nine number nine is you
have to always be
truthful and never tell a lie the
problem with my number nine is
i'm hiding a finger you see my finger
here
i'm hiding it i'm keeping something from
telling you the truth
i'm not telling you i'm saying look
that's all my fingers but really
i'm lying i'm hiding a finger so
never ever tell a lie that's number nine
and the last mitzvah of the assailta di
broth
of the ten commandments is not to be
jealous of what other people have now
jealousy is a feeling
when you feel no fear this person has a
lot
right look at my ten fingers you might
feel jealous
oh i have everything well that might
make someone feel
jealous if you show them your fancy toys
and fancy cars and fancy clothes and
fancy things
so we want to make sure not to feel
jealous
that's what i show with my ten fingers
look i have everything
nan and annette are you going like this
making someone feel jealous
that would be a not nice thing all right
let's see if you remember all ten
commandments here we go
number one one hashem
number two don't bow down to idols
number three don't say hashem's name
in vain don't say hashems shame
number four keep shabbat
nice and holy great job number five
that was a good one that was a hard one
honor
your mother and father make sure you do
that one
number six
right don't kill or hurt people number
seven
have a kosher and jewish family very
good
number eight
right don't steal number nine
remember i'm hiding a finger don't tell
a lie
always tell the truth and number ten
write don't be jealous of what someone
else has
and those are the asera tadibroth the
ten commandments
well wishing you and your family a very
happy
hag shavuot a very happy time
of receiving the torah and learning and
keep on doing all those mitzvahs
and we'll see you next time bye bye
