What should we do to fight the darkness? Important updates about current events - Rabbi Alon Anava

[Music] so in exactly in a week is the the holiday of chanukah well not exactly because we're going to light the first candle sunday but even monday is the first day of kanoka so in a week we going to be celebrating the holy holiday of hanukkah and you know the holiday of hanukkah is one of the two holidays that again we were facing an annihilation a threat of being destroyed killed and taken away from our roots and there was a fight and there was a miracle i explained a few times in the past that our sages explained that when mashir is going to come all the holidays are going to be cancelled besides and purim and which of course called to a lot of arguments how can you say the holidays will be kansas i'm not saying anything by the way i'm just quoting the books but uh it's true because the torah is eternal and cannot be cancelled but there's many different explanations what does it mean but in the future latilla always means the coming there's many different explanations to it an interesting uh commentary an explanation i read a long time ago by the lubavitch rebbe that he says they're not going to physically be canceled rather the godly shine that is achieved by fulfilling the mitzvah will be accessible constantly without even doing the mitzvah so i'm going to be able to reach to the same godly revelation of filing mezuzah talit without doing the mitzvah it's going to be accessible to us 24 7 365 years of the 6 365 days of the year so tessa will be every day sukkot will be every day the godly shine which of course we eventually will have the capacity to contain such godly light but not too great of the subject uh hanukkah is a very powerful holiday which i'm sure you know the story i'm not going to repeat the story i'm not going to talk about hanukkah today by the way a lot of people think i'm going to talk about hanukkah that's not what we're going to do today we're going to now prepare for hanukkah i have a lot of classes online which i cover a lot of topics about hanukkah you can find them online and and get educated and then there's a lot material out there i more want to focus today on the opportunity that we have and how do we preparing for it and how we're going to take advantage of the opportunity once it comes to us and of course the opportunity i'm talking about is hanukkah now in case you haven't noticed i'm sure you did but just in case we're still in exile and we are in a very severe exile and it's severe because many people don't see that we are in exile they think everything is fine and generally we have four exiles that we refer to that we know of one of them is called galutedom which is the exile that we're in right now then we have another three galoot bavel the babylonian exile galutiavan the greek exile and galut paras the persian exile these are the four exiles that we're talking about although there's also galot mitzrian this the the egyptian exile there there are a few others but if you remember if you don't a few years ago i gave a class a long class about the coming of mashiach and i explained in depth about the four exiles where we find them in the first verse of the creation of the world explaining how in this in this verse it's referring to the exiles why who would want i gave the explanation in length there are other exiles but these are the four exiles that we focus on and right now in the exile that is called galut edom and the difference between a dome [Music] and which dom is a nation but for now it's considered the western uh culture the western world there's a big difference between this exile which we are in for close to 2000 years and the other exiles the common denominator that the other exiles had that they were very short the babylonian exile was only 70 years and the greek and the persian exile was only 200 years about 200 years so very short exiles another common denominator that these three exiles had that the dom exile doesn't have is that we still had our fighting power and this is what is called the real malhot the real control the real regime now what does it mean that we had the fighting power because we had in the time of the haman we had mordechai at the time of yavan greece then we have the kashmir name and every time we had we had daniel the prophet we had people who fought against the the ones who are managing and running and controlling the exile and this exile we don't have anything we don't have anybody so not only that those exiles were short and there was a some leader i'm not going to call it leader rather malchus is the kingdom the kingship the control the power this exile we don't forget about that we're in this exile much much much longer but in this exile we lost our malhot we don't have a mercury even at the time for example with the antiochus and chanukah we still have batamidash we still had koanima i mean the whole system was still working babylonian exile we lost control over the betamigdash but nevertheless we still had the betamigdash we had cornine we had the crescent i mean we had things going up now it is nothing we lost the power i will refer to it as the malhot but we lost the power that will continue the fight and it's a big problem now the question is what's the fight what what do we need to fight can you fight the exile where each person fights the exile within them and in some type of way trying to fight the exile that we are existing in so each and every one of us has their troubles their challenges their issues that's my exile one person has an exile by having weaknesses to whatever temptations that they have in the world and that's their exile a person can be very observant and a pious individual but their exile their inner exile is that they have weaknesses desires lusts and they fight that all the time and it can be a desire to something physical it can be a weakness in regards to depression sadness a person is very judgmental whatever it is we all have our own exile this is called the galut pradit i have to fight my own inclinations but some individuals are already fighting the exile on a more universal level by doing whatever they can spreading the torah teaching torah trying to get people more closer to the torah and to the masses of the universe or whatever it is with giving charity helping or hashem there's a lot of people who are doing whatever they can but to really fight the galoot we don't have anybody who's fighting the galoots we don't have a mordekai we don't have a daniel we don't have the kashmir name we don't have somebody that can come and lead us and i'm skipping many others and i know many will argue what are you talking about we have great rabbis i know we have great rabbis but the fact is that nobody ever let us out of this exile with fighting the darkness of the exile now what exactly do we need to fight what is this fight i'm talking about i'm not talking about now fighting something spiritual i'm talking about something fighting something physical now the first thing that needs to be fought that needs to have an opposition is the shrith the the corruption the corruption that is controlling us now who's fighting it first of all i'll put another question who can even fight it and then another thing is what's called the youth adultery it's two things that come together corruption and adultery so you can't fight that you want to try maybe but you can't now the corruption is not only necessarily in a parliament or in a municipality the corruption is everywhere even in the world of the torah there's corruption everywhere there's corruption the sad reality is all the leaders are all corrupt nobody's now wakes up in the morning and says ah you know what i'm gonna go and become an mk or senate or whatever to fight evil they it's usually the other way around i'm going to become a politician because i can have a piece of the pie i don't know any pious politicians i don't know many can argue with that but the sad reality is that you know what i'll be more politically correct most of the leaders are corrupt if we're allowed to mock them that's a whole different thing because uh listen i don't know at this point we'll leave it if we can mock them or not i want to more get a point across and the sad reality as i mentioned that most of our leadership is corrupt not only in israel everywhere all the governments all the the organizations everything there's all corruption anywhere you're going to point your finger on you'll find corruption corruption and unfortunately i'm saying it with a sad heavy heart also in the world of the torah you'll find plenty of corruption and with corruption will come adultery which usually that's going to cause a lot of problems in the corruption and as i said i corrected myself i believe oh but i will say conservative conservatively most of the leaders are corrupt and the fact is there's no fight against this wickedness against this malice and you really fight some corruption you point your finger on corruption in the police in the court system and then whatever it is can you fight it what can you do you think you're going to sign a petition it's going to change something and that's the sad reality now the reason why i said before that a lot of people don't even see the exile because people think that being a slave in egypt and carrying bricks that's exile no even being run managed and controlled by an evil government that's an exile that's why many people they don't even see the severity of the exile we're in because psychologically so exile is me carrying bricks and some egyptian whipping me with a with a whip but that's not necessarily exit you're thinking me time that's what they did i mean most people imagine what was going on in egypt by the pictures they read on the haggadah because in the haggadah there's pictures of a pyramid and a donkey and an egyptian with long hair and a miniskirt and the poor jews are like carrying a brick that's not all that happened there don't forget that 80 percent of the population of the jewish nation which were then were called the sons of yaakov didn't even vote for moshe rabbin or they didn't even listen to moshe albano they end up staying at me trying they voted for they didn't want to leave they were like we're not in egypt we're not in exile see and we read about a fight between yaakov who is the our forefather our main father and he fights with the angel of asav and really what was happening there don't imagine like a fight out of a movie like neo fighting some agent with fancy kung fu moves maybe it was like that maybe i don't know maybe yaakov was a professional and martial arts and it was like a fight of the century but uh which of course we can't take the the what the text says there was a fight it was obviously a fight but i think it was in a much more uh refined and spiritual way that when yaakov fought with the angel the result was that the angel fooled him the angel tricked him and it worked jakov fell to the trap yakov made there wasn't a victory there the fact that the angel said in the morning he has to go doesn't mean there was a victory there but the sad reality is is that yaakov fell in the trap of the angel of asav what was the trap first of all he thought that by fighting him he will be able to ascend and elevate himself to a much higher spiritual level but the sad reality is that it was a trap there and yaakov fell to the trap and he lost and uh he thought yaakov thought that by fighting with the angel of asav which is the same that he will be able to correct the world he just came out of the house of lavan dealing with avant which really he what he went down there is to pull out all the sparks from the clipa to pull out the four sparks of the of the matriarchs and build the house of israel came out with the shiva team he didn't come out with people he only came out with his wives and with the kids really what he came out with was all the souls of israel which were the 600 thousand sheep they're all placed in the sheep i told you already the exile for as a leader moshe and correct the world and elevate himself to a much higher level and bring a tikkun to the world which is really what's called tikkun of the olam the the rectification of the lower world the world above doesn't need a tikkun the lower world needs a tikkun this is called what's called tikkun malhot the malhot is the lower world and that needs a tikkun rectification the the way how how yaakov fell so to say in the in the trap is that this angel told him your name is not going to be yakov anymore you're going to be israel that you're going to be elevated to a much higher level yakov is the you da cave is the hill and israel is is in a much higher level but really what he did is that he separated yaakov from the lower worlds and i'll explain that more in depth what i mean but he fooled yaakov
