What are you busy with these days?

[Music] foreign [Music] and I have noticed that as every year most people half the month almost passed and they didn't do anything towards nothing towards the month of elul you guilty no very good very impressed so you must be listening to me so uh a few very quick important things to make sure that you follow a rule of course we know that zone it's a suspicious time and etrotson means that you can get something easier that's that's really what it means now when comes the question why would Hashem have times that things are easier or harder I mean why should I have to wait 11 months to the end of the year so if every moment of our life would be an etraton which means an auspicious time then we wouldn't value those times and not only that we will be double lazy because we would know that I can get everything for free the proof to that I mean there's many different proofs but I can tell you the proof to that from my point of view is when I look at my kids if I give them everything because I'm a loving father then they get used to getting everything then they turn to demand everything and if something is missing then there's going to be a problem even though I didn't do anything I'm pouring on you love warmth clothing whatever teach you spoil if one day I take a break then they feel the lack and what's going on here if they don't get my full attention all year round they they strive to work for it they strive to work for that attention and when they see an opening then they know now is the time to to how do you say in English hit the metal on the how do you care what it's hot it's dry strike while it's hot thank you so the same thing is with us on our calendar and Hashem has his reasons but the fact is that the reality is that all people are busy with their life with challenges only for me to strive and to grow it's not about right now what if Hashem likes me or not so we're not going to analyze the the system of Hashem how he's working but it's pretty simple to figure out that throughout the year we're busy with whatever it is some people are busy with their making ends meet with paranasa with the livelihood some people are struggling with health and other people struggling with the educating their kids you're you're busy all day long you don't have a real good mind frame to sit and focus on your Chua or focus on your spiritual world you do that when you go to Yeshiva or you do that if you're older you go to some shabbaton or to some two-week retreat can't do what I'm talking about when you're dealing with life several times in my life in the last 20 years the only time that I can say that there was really a very big spiritual jump is when I was isolated from my reality if I would go to three months to Yeshiva or if I was just an Yeshiva if I would do something that is involving just that spiritual growth and I have no other concerns so that's really the way to do it so Hashem says this and I know you're busy and there's reasons why you're busy busy throughout the year so I'll give you one month where you can kind of uh Center all the year into one month and if you put your effort into that about one month then retroactively it will cover like as if you did it the entire year that's really the approach we're not going to get into uh uh all the details about elur because in the last 20 years I gave enough lectures and enough classes not that there's enough there's a lot work to learn a lot more to teach I just don't know don't want to repeat myself in future classes we'll learn new things now I just want to emphasize the
