[Music] imperfections. Perfect. The whole idea of push-up shots on you. >> Yeah. >> Mention >> and it hit so bad. I really struggled with a shot is a pain. Move on in the air. 50. It gave me such a boost. blow carry bag [Music] in the studio preferred set but Um, nice to be here. [Music] We'll go through everything. So yeah. So let's say very special father 1942. So born in Palestine. >> Okay. >> In Israel. So for the bells, you both got the So yeah. So um [Music] connection he was my foundation made a connection to the previous generation [Music] and uh it was a figure to look up to my father yet he was such a normal person. He was always a working person extremely loving father and grandfather. So I was very lucky. So perfectionism was very correct about 101. Wasn't it? So um yeah for my mama my mom is the boy in Czechlovakia to the Czech Republic in Slovakia two countries Czechlovia is off. Okay. So uh my mama's daughter my mom's in Dublin in Ireland. >> Okay. >> And they moved over here. So [Music] He had heart problems, heart issues. So come where he's got relatives. But then it became an offered a job in Manchester near Manchester Liverpool. So he moved to to Manchester. >> So the connection. I I adapted to bells. [Music] Sure. Yeah. in the middle. >> Yeah. Well, but we're moving on in time, so the train on the train. >> Wow. >> So yeah. So so I go back bels really quite quite quite a few generations. Correct me if I'm wrong guys. Okay. So this this is basically the background. So that's where the cooking and the baking comes from. Um so it's all in the mix. >> Nice. So So then father bought a house and we lived here all the years. was very different to today. Very different. So I don't know how it works. Absolutely not. No. Okay. experience. It was up didn't exist in my times. He was clear till 18. It wasn't such a car in a way it matured up a boy. So it was it was pain. You're really pushing me to the subject. Move on. Okay. Very good. Okay. So yeah that time is anything The thing I could always exchange with him is a minute. We'll get into Okay. So, let's start. So, but I'm lucky to have such just his appearance is a role model. That's it. >> By the way, okay, that's their opinion. Okay. So, um is the master example of so to the music line how it all came. So first of all help from the viewers um probably don't even know music >> probably and it's constantly changing they wouldn't even know in the music line was most famous. We'll cover it in a minute. [Music] This is Anyway, it's a different We'll get to the albums in a minute. So basically music but you have to have it in you. You have to be musical. If you tone death you can't sing and you can't keep a beat there's no point in training to be a musician. So um and we'll soon find out that gifts and you have to explore your gifts and use them because that's why they're there. So recording. >> So tape recorder. It's an old tape. I was 5 years old. I'm quite impressed how I sang when I was five. Now I listen to it quite musical. So um yeah musical music and holidays it's probably 8 n 10 years old that was upgrade. So um monsters on the shelf melodica. Now a real melodica is as a keyboard. So real melodic has got like a pipe and while you're blowing while you're blowing is like not air. So it was just it was red keyboard. We didn't he didn't inhale, he exhaled as well because he's also very musical. He's probably more musical than me. Definitely is. >> Um, yeah. So, so and I remember unwrapping it straight away. I played the song. >> Wow. >> A easy song. Um da da da da da da da. So anybody who plays knows it's very straightforward. If you play it in C, it's very straightforward. Oh, okay. >> This is this has become part and parcel of of Jewish life. >> So, um complicated. Um, straight away then MT65 model down MT54. Yeah. Very very young. keyboard. Yes. Music of the Gus didn't exist for the roof stretch limo. That was it. Behind it open the bus with the gun loud music. >> I'm the culprit. Yes. Okay. So um yeah speakers the generator. It was my first time I played live. First time I played live video didn't exist. So >> and that was my that was my music career. to discuss it and have a break. Um, not so highish musicians. You don't even remember these names. So, whatever. But this is much better. >> So, um the only one never give up. Never give up. It's so sweet. So, so um she got zip in them. Black and white. Black and white. She want more. She want colored the front page. Ginsburg music one band for all your occasions. father. Oh wow. He booked me for equipment but you need a speaker. So I approached the most forgiving person you can find. He was ever so helpful. So a combo mixer. So the mixer adjusts your sounds and the mixer once you have your adjusted sound the wire takes it the cable takes it to the speaker. So combo speaker off the speakers the volume the bass the treble 150 W it's a it's allrounder it'll do the job in the back 26 lamp okay I got paid £50 was the first bit of money I ever earned in my life. >> Just just for comparison purposes, going average wage, a weekly wage became like I think£320 an hour 350. It was well paid. >> Oh, okay. And I'll never forget. It gave me such a boost.£50. I remember I showed it to £50. I got £50 excited. fast forwarding a um so he called me up I want to book you for like I'm not ready for that yet but so he told me openly I know it's your first but I want to I want to pave the way for you I want to give you a chance the market whatever it'll be happy Okay. Contact number. He was the only one. stand box. And it was fine. I made it through. calls quite a few years later. He wants to book me in the golden and I always gave very very good service. So I wanted to bring something new to the market. Didn't exist. It didn't exist. Music finish. The only ones that sang. So voice teacher garden city in an opera. So he had good so he he taught me how to develop my voice the breathing exercise once a week exercises the diaphragmus and you you when you inhale you don't inhale in your lungs you inhale in your in your diaphragm and that pushes up your lungs so you just let it go out so you don't strain your voice so the power of air >> basically you just the whole singing is power of air >> so at voice training and I went through quite a few months and very intense training of my voice it did me good till today. So eventually how it can work together. I want to hear you play. And he was very calm. He started barking. I went off to him. >> So in the back of the room, probably you guys don't even know this song. Whatever. It's a beautiful song, very classical song. >> Um, it's a smooth song. He taught me first to sing slow songs. >> So, adjusted the phrases are too long. So, you have to you have to be able to breathe in and out slow. He used this song as a sample. on how to phrase things and from there I took it to another song I felt ready I'm a very shy person I feel even today I speak to a public but not in public so in Norris Lee in in Hamstead. So I'm going to mess it up and I'm going to I'm going to flop it and a photographer David Solomon the from White Wedding the guys. I said, "Go ahead, sing a song." But my heart was beating says, "Okay." So I went more training and I opened up this whole idea of singing a oneman banding in a way it's very easy because when when you feel you need a break you just play the music and the musician the sing back a lot of singers as well. Yeah. So I'm I'm the one man band. So I did both and um so going back to the the function by the one by the so green and there they started booking me and became the highend in my good times. You talk about a good 10 to 15 years top of the market. >> Wow. top of the market. So, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Sound didn't exist. Yeah. If you watch You invested in the moment headphones. I made sure every single function put my hand on my heart. Every single function I gave 110%. Because you have off days. You have a day. Take it easy today. Take it easy. Is the only day and this is it. It's a mindset. It's it's it's very hard. You always have to be in the mood. You always have to be in the mood. Yeah. >> Because the singer's out there in the front behind the keyboard, but singer's out there in the front and he's making the atmosphere. He's creating the atmosphere. And bad lines and I tried not I tried to stay on the good side I gave 101% service >> but uh the the effort so I had to make sure headphones because a monitor wasn't good enough for me is my monitor speaker you can hear but it wasn't good enough for me headphones. So the headphones I have to be in pitch, I have to be in beat. I have to sing perfect practice and experience in singing perfect. So this was going on for >> basically for the gold weddings as well. Up toate style music and all these 20 to 35. Yeah. Oh, that's it. Yeah. >> So, so at some point which is so you sing so well. Why did you make an albums? So Davis, the one who organized the >> So he used to hear me a lot at organiz so he offered to invest in the album. So he he did the sponsor and I did all the homework and I went shopping for songs. So I got a few connections and and I started choosing songs what suits me and collecting a few songs. He didn't really want to look at me. So, um I went to him officially. I'm very attached to I can I can take that song it didn't sell so many copies so he's got the rights of the song it didn't click to me didn't connect to me of my first album if you know the cannot take that song. >> Yeah. So, and he gave me another song. He gave me that song as well and introduction for one of the other songs. So we were struggling a bit of tape recorder keyboard on piano and on the spot switch it off and on the spot beautiful intro so it became part of the song. >> I'm sure you're going to go and play. He's a legend. He's an absolute legend. the talent from Yosi Green. He is so musically, so genius and so original and and there's a story behind every song. Yosi Green is my uh as the as the composer. >> So basically, so once I had the songs, I wouldn't take anyone else. Okay. So, computers, handwritten notes, but he did a magnificent job because it there was live strings, horns, >> recorded on 2 in on tape. So, it's 2 in. And the sound was record. You can't get 2 in. got this live my second album and it wasn't the same from the recording cuz it didn't had this real feel so real. So, um >> in a minute almost there. >> Yeah. >> Um so music but at the time couldn't go to record from work and whatever. So in the studio took it only take Ma's number one. So Mona conducted the music track of the album arranged by Heshi Ginsburg conducted by >> Mon Rosen. So I remember being there in Galo in in Tel Aiv in Balak whatever you want to call it in in the modern album Tel Aviv in the album because it's right on the border. Um, fantastic, fantastic studio recorded music. A dream yet, um, I had to record the vocals. So is one take one take. And I messed up the phrase. Okay. One take, one take. It was good enough. It was ready to go. >> When recording the music, you start recording with with with rhythm section. The drum, the guitar, the bass, and they record just so you go into the other room in the controlling room, the wood, whatever. the recording studio, but it's decent enough. So, I sang guide. It's a guide for them, which is the guide. The guide was perfect recording. I hate cuts. I hate cuts because it's so unnatural. Okay. But this is obviously you can't have imperfections perfect. >> Exactly. >> Yeah. >> There's the whole idea of push-up shot. >> The whole idea um so so um so a lot of the songs is given just one take and a lot of them was even the guide. So singing perfect had the ability and knew I was on pitch. I was in time and I was perfect and people come and only studio singers are not so good live by the CDs. >> Yeah. Both of them >> was again passion. >> Yeah. It was advertisement finish. >> So I wasn't going to call the album the choir small boy carry bag. Okay. first album promoted. So I'm going back a long time before all these stars >> but at the time all these all these singers were new still I managed Basham to record the whole album in a very short time in a in three days. My mind went blank. So it'll soon come back. Whatever launch the album. So demos right there was two ways of doing it control on the copies and they tell you the master. So we were advised at the time sell the rights the guest aimed the master in a oneoff figure >> and that's it. They decide the figure according to hearing the album and to according to his expect mention in their market this is their line and a good in music. So he told me then he listened to the leap told me I should call it. Okay. Leap is genius. Leap is genius. >> So and he said I'm taking this album. This is a genius album on one condition. You change the name to >> otherwise I'm not taking it. And we changed it. >> So the green cover waves where he made me change it to the way. So it was just like a background >> and he he he paid quite a good money for it. >> It was sold in that in that condition as my home territory is is my home territory. Manchester but it's sold out of tape and CD but Spotify I don't think so% Okay. Yeah, it's real music. >> Okay, we got to get this >> sorted. Got to get it sorted. Okay. Just wait for the last. I thought you >> by the way number one. Happy number two. Yeah. Get my chance. You still remember it 30 years ago, 25 years ago. As I mentioned, a chance number two competition. I'm happy to help. bakery next door. I just wanted to point out you can't live with it so easy. But yeah, but but it's true. It's true. The fact is, by the way, you become a better person. You never lose out. You never lose out from helping someone else. reaction when the disc got took off on such a level as >> I didn't I didn't dream it's going to take off it took off >> every year the song of the year the composer of the year the musician of the year and this was the song of the year I performed it live this was the only performance live video for them no idea the people of the year. >> Actually presented at Kenz. >> So we will check it out later. I'll give you the name again later. >> So this was the one and only concert I ever sang public. >> Wow. >> I had to make a decision that a new singer, good album, sang well. >> And I had to make the decision. Is it going to be my family life or is it going to be music life? >> And I was not going to jeopardize my family. In fact, album recorded. It was one week for the music conducted it. So, he knew exactly. We didn't waste time. We recorded one one week and the next I was going to record the vocals recording Thursday. Thursday night I went home for Shabas and I flew back Sunday. I had to think the children are older already but when the children are younger I would never leave home for showers. I was not going to put my family in front of my music. It's a bad enough. Bad enough, but it never it never jeopardized. I fell asleep on the couch. But family time is family time. So this was the only concert I ever sang. >> No, it was my own decision. I love my family. I love my kids. and they're my number one and I wasn't I wasn't going to at the time don't call him album it might have reduced famous but I couldn't care less at the time when I was so famous I was always the number one to be called I backed MBD Daddy um uh Aan Freed Leaper Mushnet loads of singers I used to be the musician. >> So what so what happened T that you decided to move? Oh, day job because I could I never thought I'm going to rely on music alone bedrooms. I used to run the place there a lot. I was very good in woodwork. I'm good at everything in my hands. So, in the woodwork. I opened up a kitchen business afterwards. When I leave here, I'm not going to step on your toes. So, kitchens, I had my own company. Very hard job because people change plans all the time. I'm sure you know and by time you end up the profit is barely there. If you can see it of the deposits of the next dimensions deposit my draws are falling off. My draws are falling off fine. When a person doesn't pay you,000 pounds, I'm waiting for six months to see if the kitchen is going to be okay. And always been >> always been 20 25 years ago. >> Okay. So producing the best donuts donuts >> donuts. So demos at the time the kitchen business was was struggling to design. I used to draw by hand plans. So I I decided I had enough with kitchens and I was looking for something else. Bash master demos. My oldest daughter had a lot of allergies. XM whatever they come up with Rosenberg. He was just about starting road the medication was that he gave medication whatever he gave he mixed up the things and I believe in energy is a whole discussion for another time whatever but all these things if you believe in it even if you don't believe it's a fact if you don't believe if you don't believe you don't you don't have to don't have to believe in anything >> specifically >> herbal medicine >> okay >> mention was you know I think you have an intolerance to uh to wheat >> and you cut out wheat you have to know how to use it you have to be born with with yourself something you need to believe Yeah. You don't believe in it's not going to harm you. Finished. So coming back to that. So we became very healthminded and went into healthy food. Fresh and wild foods market on Church Street the corner shop. So, so I I went to London a lot and I asked them their product. The other products are natural. We're looking into this, we're looking into that. And I became very into this this whole health food eating. >> I decided, hey, health food shop. How about we make a health food shop for people in Stanford health food shop? Because when I decided to open it, I wasn't going to sell items. It's a natural product. Natural product is not good enough. And if for the public, Mr. scans every item that they sell there. So, so I decided I'm going to open up a health shop. So, bakery zero. It was going to be a proper health food shop. shampoos and uh cereals, bars behind the behind the counter healthy juices. It's a juice menu if anyone used to remember it. >> I think vaguely >> just about so real. >> And so we came up with this name. Uh it was booming the first few weeks novelty but then it was in 2008. Um so it was booming in the beginning but then was 2008 was the recession and it hit so bad. I really struggled with the shop mention it was it was a real struggle bakeries because it was in the business plan originally as And I used to have my wife used to help me a lot when I opened up the shop. She baked some some cookies and some muffins and spelled cupboard and but so I was really struggling in the beginning struggling. I was thinking and uh I believe very much talk to chicken out of things. You have to see things through. You have to the show must go on finish. So and I struggled a lot. But then I realized with time as mentioned to see it in the bakery that's not the shelf. That's not the shelf. And uh my blueberry muffins. So my wife gave me the recipe for blueberry muffins. Whatever goes in the eggs, the sugar, the flour, oil, and then the blueberries, raw blueberries, and the whisk in the mixer. blueberries and say and mix purple the blueberries. I found my wife and I said what's going on? No, no, no, no, no. You're supposed to pour in the cupcakes. You're supposed to add in the blueberries. How you bake? I had no idea. So, how you make a dough in the beginning, but then I had to make it myself. So Zalus Zelus and my mom how to make a dough. So my mother came to the shop, she made the dough for me. She showed me how to do it and she said when it's when it's risen, call me back. >> With time, I'll call you just when it's ready. Exactly recipes. It has not changed. So the 40 but the 45 whatever 40. So yeah we talk about 35 here abilities in them. Yeah. Okay. Zela in the Zela situation. If you explore your opportunities and you explore your talents and you push yourself a bit, you can change the world. You can change yourself, you can change people, you can create new things. So, so in the beginning I was playing music by night and in the shop I was burning the candle both ends. So point I decided I have to give one of them up. I I chose music for various reasons. Kung music started becoming a different very competitive market. It wasn't about authentic music. the Kim digital wasn't my style so much the competition starting to to uh bloom and I have to give up something so I gave up action you have to see things through action to see something through so real is struggling because of it so decided you have to make decisions in So is a longterm thing. It's a longterm thing. So, I have to keep So, real and I have to say goodbye to music because I'm going to have to say goodbye to competition and the guy and then what and while I'm still young so real celebrity. Yeah, it was That's fine. Okay. As I told you before, I didn't let myself become that celebrity. I was a musician and a singer. [Music] celebrity status. >> So I I I had to make my decision so real and make it work. >> So >> more question about music. >> You're touching a very um an interesting subject. My opinion of music. I like real music so I don't go for all this digital stuff. Yet people today are genius. People they are genius [Music] music. [Applause] By the way, shout out music video. Yeah. [Music] The hunt. You cannot explain it. >> So whatever. when I can listen here music is the first thing on the list I like the music today not really the album the way it's polished and the the the music and the talent was yeah it's genius it's abs genius but it hasn't got the music hasn't got this. I like real music. But then again, mention is by the way, we're the greatest generation of all times. Okay, >> maybe we'll get to that soon, but uh >> 100%. >> So nearly. >> So at some point bakery. >> Yeah. So that was Yeah, that was my decision. and on the shelf bakeries and I used to do it myself. So it was also a struggle on its own. I learned how to deal with it as you have to let go of your perfectionism to an extent. I say okay. So to kind of produce chemist with with with bakeries on it purpose made for the bakery and that's so real till today. But then again I can bake. I never I never dreamed I can do this business. But there is opportunities out there and you have to explore it. And if you explore it you can make it. I think I think I think it's a highlight of all year round. I'm not going to say it on air. >> Okay. >> I'm not going to say >> and how this is the number one probably most favorite like >> it's the definitely the most favorite donut of everyone. I don't know if it's number one sold was donuts. You mentioned Yeah. quality fluffiness premises. So donuts donut factory doesn't match. It needs rotation as well. You have to roll the dough. The part of why it's so good is it's the perfectionism. It's the timing. You have to roll it in the right time. The ring the fries mig on the fries. You straight away have to put the jam in. It has to be a specific for specific audience items. But you took it to the next level. You said I'm going to make the donuts. You took it all the way because I'm a perfectionist. What I do, I give it 101%. sometimes to my children. Either don't do it, either do it properly or don't do it at all. No. >> Finish. You're going to do music, you're going to do it properly. You're going to do a bakery, you're going to do it properly. A chocolate bun. It's got the exact same taste as I had 12, 15 years ago. Consistency. Do it properly. Otherwise, people lose the trust and the whole thing. You lose everything. As long as I'm now, now from the episode, >> the famous question. Yeah. was a minute. A minute 30. Beautiful. One minute. Yeah. Interesting. One minute. The most important part. Yeah. >> Positive. Positive. By the way, let's clarify this on camera. Mention. Please say never. >> I never ever asked you to put this on. So, I decided very good. just to clarify. [Music] So these days >> let's try to go right from the beginning again again opportunities opportunities you have to be smart enough to see it take it and jump into it. So cancer. often for everybody discussion and so um >> man is not voting for you decided to politician. >> Okay. So in the conversation and he told me you have to come and talk to my kids. foreign. It was a bit of outside a guest singer. A guest sing guest speaker and I really meant it. I am not a man of words. Um I was then very very inspired by Wallin, one of the people that changed my life. Changed my life. His way of thinking and and his openness and his approach to Yiddish and to mitzvah and to he changed my life. My whole way of looking at life he changed. So um so So he he didn't let go. So he called me back. So So I decided, okay, I knew one major story and I milked out that story. Kids were glued and they went down very well. Hello. Okay. So, I didn't take it as anything. Weekly you crazy 10 15 but that's it. You have to do this every week by week. So I started homework because >> was between 11 and 13. >> Okay. So you have an immense amount of work exactly outside the children all over the place. So you have to have you know what you're saying 4:00 in the morning and articulate stories and men who edits this pushup was one of my first to cut a long story short >> yeah it's an honor to have Meny as a >> so Um to cut a long story short babys so he asked if he can be in my house for a short while. So word went out dining room. >> So foldable tables and I have to give credit to my wife. I don't think a lot of people would have such a thing going on their house. of the tear noise takes a few few hours. You the preparation it was every week. So um a lot of credit to my wife for that for having it at home. Okay. Five years experience in speaking experience masses and they were pushing my door free of charge. Nope. Free of charge. Very nice. Okay. So everyone was it wasn't easy because it wasn't easy. I used to give them nash. I used to prepare crisps and jellies and drinks. I've never charged a penny for never. So in the middle and this went on 30 35 boys mentioned mention so I got a lot of requests out it wasn't my thing so eventually in co anymore phone line. Yeah. So I started long before that's it just so me editing the idea was five minutes on the par five minute clip inspired by eventually I need to pick a day to influence people. for opportunities are right in front of you. Jump in and grab it. Just do it. Anyway, just do it. Finish. >> Anyway, I'll follow you. Just looking forward to the CM. That's all. >> Yeah. Uh thanks for mention enjoy. Okay. >> Okay. So mention that was it. It hit me so bad. Well, I'm very attached to the is the biggest story. The children always the most famous line is not a story book theory biography. compile stories. You'll get maybe a week, two weeks. >> Yeah. >> It's a lesson. >> So, and didn't even talk about it and busy. He was a busy person. But is relevant for us to learn. to teacher is a teaching. So stories everybody freaked out is ever so exciting. Suddenly there's this low drop but it teaches me something and made it as exciting as every other week and the kids used to love. So iska story book so is relevant and you can learn from everything. So when it really hurt me because of this something short and sweet a minute and it'll appeal to more people. So in 60 seconds I walked in a minute. So graphics genius >> and he always advises me well logo and everything. He told me don't do 60 seconds 60 seconds you tuck a limited to 60 seconds. You can't make 61. So so we decided to call it a in a minute. So minute. So I used to do two clips at the time. It became too much for me. So at the moment now it's just the V in a minute. Mr. So I'm just to to to wrap it up is something that just rolls out of my sleeve in the minute or minute and a half research in the world number one. So a lot of research but I feel and it has to teach you something. You have to learn. You have to walk away from something that is applicable to me. So last week, Wednesday evening, Thursday morning. Let's polished it up a lesson for them. And sometimes these are the best. But applicable then again. How do you do it? So 30 seconds. So I always start as in I always give you the background first by time you come to the va 40 seconds into the va you've lost a person so I think over a minute but I think it's worth in the beginning and cut to the point it came to to a point I decided that's mention 60c So you have to know your crowd. I don't know my crowd because you have no feedback and it's rubbish. So you don't get feedback and so instead of starting which takes four five seconds in the logo for not a few seconds. So they start editing. So that >> you still managed to keep it like with with between one and two minutes usually >> that's it. I don't mind taking it a bit longer because people can stay tuned. You can't bore people as a result of social media. >> Yeah. >> 30 seconds. That's it. Don't give more than 30 seconds. >> So it's a challenge. I don't force anyone to listen to it. By the way, status is to do anyone from the audience sign up for them. So WhatsApp group was there WhatsApp group and whenever in the bio the description from the episode link for those quite a few in a positive way and Finish off with Shabas. By the way, the last line mentioned, have a wonderful Shabas. He used to always finish. Have a wonderful Shabas. I used to love it. I used to read his notes. Have a wonderful if I record it 10 times, I consider myself very lucky. It can take me an hour and a half, sometimes two hours because I stumble on words especially when singing is a complete different language. Singing is a different language. But when you speak, so and if you stumble on a word. So it has to be a take and sometimes the take is good but I feel it hasn't got the in it has filist until I get it right and then comes the editing then you have to cut off the switching on the camera they're switching off the camera like the logo at the beginning >> the logo at the beginning the logo on the end and then there's background music adjust the volume of people hopefully transl my life would have gone a complete different direction. completely different. It inspired me these 10 years 10 and a half years. It changed my life. So in life you have opportunities all the time. try it one week. It's not an easy job. Yeah, let's go ahead. Okay. Okay. Music video from one of your favorite songs.
