Preparing a proper mindset for Rosh Hashana - Rabbi Alon Anava

[Music] today we want to talk about how we're going to get ready to and prepare ourselves for the new coming year and I just got the name I'm sorry yes should have so we're 12 days before r on a very special day the 18th day of and we already passed 18 days of the special month that we have to prepare ourselves for the coming new year and basically every day that comes closer now to R sh is a very valuable day because technically we prepare ourselves not only for R sh we also want to prepare ourselves for Yip and exactly like a business owner that once a year does his taxes goes through his budget goes through his Finance to see how the business is doing if there's any losses if how many how much was the profits where can they cut the budget where can they put more budget the same way we have to do this exact same account once a year in general it is more recommended that we do this every day if we do this every day then we don't have to do it at the end of the year the right way to do it is that God gave us very supicious times to do what's called is to do a self account to see how am I doing some people they delay it to do it once a year onip which is not the right way because how can you really do an account for what you did the entire year in one day I don't even remember what I did three months ago so how can I do chuva for something I did seven months ago so we have entire week and you're ready to accept the Shabbat but more than that we have a an supicious time and the right time to really do chuva is right before we go to sleep which that's why we say K and we spoke many times about the the the importance of K but really one of the main parts of is to do CH for the day and some people exactly like you now have notebooks and you're writing notes some people before they go to bed they pull out a notebook and they write what they did today so some people call it a journal some people call it a diary and some people call it meaning I'm doing my daily account do I owe anybody money did I hurt anybody did I lie today how many times did I gossip today how many times did I scream at my kids for no reason and they do M an account the people who live like that they have nothing to worry about and when yum kipur comes all they need to do is not to eat pray and and and that's it because they all their life they live in chuva and that's the right way because nobody can do chuva in one day for the entire year it's not possible so the right way to do it and you can start already from today if you didn't do it up to now is you say you take five minutes out of your day and it's better to do it before you go to bed but if you feel that you're going to follow asleep or you have little kids and and and your daily life activities do not allow you so do it half an hour before you go to bed or an hour before to get go to bed but take five minutes out of your life at the end of the day to really go through what you did the entire day who you need to apologize to where you need to refine yourself and so forth and by that you live your life in Chua that's what I say you say that your entire life should be in Chua and if you do that then your life is good because you know right away where you need to apologize and you know right away what you need to return and or to give back and you basically know how to correct yourself and not let yourself Shalom continue and continue you know where to stop things right away so since now we 12 days before and some people you know they they consider Yip a more important day for the CH but really the end of the year and they look at their taxes and they only made a certain amount of money or they look and they say I didn't have a successful year or I didn't get married or I couldn't get pregnant or my children are driving me crazy and so so forth they feel that the previous was not so good cuz they didn't get an abundance of blessing the reality is that theem constantly projects to us unbelievable abundance of blessings the only ones who can be blamed to what we didn't get is ourselves because Hashem just gives us and if I would see the blessing that I got on R I would be shocked what hasem bestow on me whether it's parasa my livelihood whether it's anything else in my life Hashem just giving us in an unbelievable abundance but I'm as the receiver is the one who can stop it from coming so I cannot come and complain to the Kosh he didn't give mea I couldn't get married my kids are driving me crazy I don't have a good relationship with my husband and so forth no Hashem is giving us unbelievable abundance of blessing and I who's the on the receiving end is the one who can actually take it or say I don't want it now neither one of us says I don't want it but my actions are what's causing me not to receive this abundance of blessing so you first of all you need to know that when when you're standing in front of the Kem does bless us with an unbelievable abundance of blessing with everything that we need so we cannot come and complain to anyone rather if I feel that I'm lacking something it's not because I'm not worthy it's not because I don't deserve me here so it will come out in a certain way that we will interpret it that it's coming from my environment so I cannot prevent my soul from getting Tor and MIT but mainly what I came here to this world is I need to refine myself and I came with a list of character traits that are not so great and I have to work on myself because a when I work on myself I refine myself more than that I affect my entire surrounding so when I look to do CH and to prepare myself to yip to is not necessarily to say oh please forgive me because I did this and please forgive me for I did that yes if I did anything wrong I have to stop I have to stop doing it not necessarily because I need to get the forgiveness from God rather because when I do something negative I'm stopping from the abundance from have to do an action I mean I can't walk into the room and say light I have to flip the switch which means I'm making a connection some type of connection and then the is there I want something to work I have to plug it into the wall I can't just say TV start working no I have to plug it into the wall I have to make some connection to the source that is bringing me the energy now the electricity is running in the walls whether I want it or not the electricity is in the wires it's constantly there whe whether I'm consuming it or not Edison however you want to call it is producing the electricity it doesn't get affected if I take it or not so the same thing is the Kosh the kadosh is constantly projecting his abundance and it doesn't affect him it doesn't affect him that if I take this abundance it doesn't make him have less this is the concept that we cannot understand our human mind will never understand that because according to Nature if I give something I'm right now that's not easy too but it's much much easier and you want to go and grab one person after the other and apologize to grab your husband and say you know if I said anything that offended you if I did from that most of the diseases because people holding Grudge and they're holding anger and they're not willing to to let go of something they create all this negativity in them and B them they have control of it they can just release it and let go now it's not necessarily that somebody will come now and beg for your forgiveness and you being mean and saying I don't want to forgive that's a different scenario somebody comes and asks you for forgiveness you still forgive and you're saying okay you know I also do bad things I want to be forgiven I'll forgive another person but it's mainly to forgive in your heart somebody that you can't even come and approach to that person or the person will never come to you or Shalom that person left the world or any other scenarios and almost every person if they look de deep down inside there's maybe some one person if not two or five that they're a little bit angry with or a little bit disappointed or they hold some type of Grudge and here is where a person has to climb to a much higher level and show this unbelievable love that is shining in this SM and say you know what I will forgive that person even though I'm a million perent right that's not the point if I'm right cuz this world is not about being right this world is about being smart and that's the problem with most people is that they constantly battle because I'm right okay so you're right big deal but be smart doesn't not going to help you if you're right you're driving here in the street everybody's cutting you off yeah you are right but what is it going to help you if you get upset it's going to help you it's going to help you if you blow the horn or if you curse him you bringing all this negativity on you yeah you're 100% right but that's not the point so in our life hold on in our life we constantly deal with situations that I'm 100% right my husband my well in my case my wife will say something and will hurt me my ego is hurt my G my pride is hurt and I'm not willing to let go of forgive because I'm right here I have to climb to a much higher level and say no you know what I want the master of the universe to forgive me for my nonsense he wants me to do the exact same thing he wants me now to forgive other people that hurt me or they did something against me or they hurt my feelings even though I'm a million per right has nothing to do with it it
