Our Hillel is very, very uncommon. While we're based at a college, the biggest part of our work is the Monsey community. We deal with hundreds of Jewish students, alumni, young adults, and we give them a meaningful Jewish experience. There was a young man, and he was living in Warsaw. He was running through the streets and he saw an old Jewish Hasidic man being attacked by a Nazi. He jumped and stabbed him. He left this Nazi lying down in a pool of blood. He carried the old man and delivered him to his family. He went into hiding. There was this other person, her name was Ruth. She was very beautiful. She went into hiding, too. In the middle of the night, there's a knock on the door of this old Hasidic man. I saved your life. Now, I need a favor. I want to marry your daughter. 45 minutes later, they were married. They survived. When they then got off the ship, they saw kangaroos, and that's my grandparents. That's how we ended up in Australia. They say like if you love what you're doing, you never work a day in your life. When I sit with my crew, you know, like we can sing Kah Echsof till the cows come home.
