Police Chief Rob Lawson Warns About Underage Drinking And DWI

hello I'm Chief Rob Lawson from the Lakewood Police Department and I'd like to take this opportunity to uh give you a few tips about uh the upcoming Yanti of purum uh purum will be starting this msai chabis Saturday February 27th uh at sundown and the police department has made extensive preparations for this holiday uh in conjunction with the committeeman and our police lady Zone mayor lickstein and also committeeman Rabbi Minash Miller we've met on several occasions to discuss our preparations and they are as follows uh we will have crossing guards out in over 14 different locations in town to ensure the safety of pedestrians we will also have our portable light towers out on 14th Street and case Road 14th Street and Forest Avenue and 14th Street and Cedar row we also have out our radar speed boards on Sunset Avenue uh going Southbound and also on 14th Street going westbound we have altered the traffic patterns on two roadways um just to facilitate the flow of traffic that would be Sixth Street is going to be one way going Westbound from Forest Avenue to Lakewood Avenue and also Lawrence Avenue will be one way going northbound from East 8th Street to East 11th Street I know this is a a funfilled Festival holiday but please do not drink and drive we have a zero tolerance uh for driving while intoxicated and that will be strictly enforced over porum we have not had problems in the past and hopefully we won't for this holiday either uh also um just a word about underage drinking I know that's a an integral part of porum but please if you have a porum party um do not have underage children drinking in your house if they want to do that at home with their parents as part of the tradition on porum um you know that's fine but uh do not have them do that at your house and then go out and unfortunately get injured so we have that H have had that happen on occasion um please when you're driving be aware that there are people who are out in the street that may be a little intoxicated from from drinking so drive very slowly drive very carefully be aware of pedestrians and I'd like to wish everybody a fre po thank you
