and we're back at huzzah telethon
building a stronger future in your
donation right now is going to make a
difference we are so so close right now
we are nine hundred and twelve thousand
three hundred and seventy six so make
that pledge because we gotta be hit
million in the next hour and we need you
remember every dollar every dollar get
tripled and this is your chance today to
save more lives
we're privileged to have with us I guess
who just walked in with our theme but
also a very close friend of mine
face Tahoe seen aphasia is the Queen's
director to Scott right we were the
Queen's are the citizens right
yeah were the Queen's director to the
city controller council candidate and
very politically involved he knows all
the politicians you need help with any
politicians face I've seen our that's
the address to it and based off his head
Thank You 3 by appreciate that but it's
not really myself making different it's
because these organizations right the
only way we make a difference is when we
work together with organizations like
Kazak Kazakh is there on the ground
fighting for the needs of income of our
community you know working on the food
pantries they're working on after-school
programs and telling us I'm working hand
in hand with the
working with the elected officials
telling us the needs of what's going on
on the ground and then we are enough
so tell me peso what's your personal
connection to huzzah I know you're
walking through the door and like five
people I saw I saw by Ilana so you'll
need they all drop down they go oh hey
sokka's here you know so so there's got
to be some some really cool connection
that I want to find out about so again
it's really more of a working together
connection of making things happen to
the community community-based
organizations nothing I've known yonder
in Venice as I wait before they had that
or that way before they had the office
and raw Avenue when they were just
walking around delivering flyers trying
to do things working on food pantries of
getting the needs and we've seen over
the years that Razak has taken community
programs community initiatives and
really worked it up we see they're there
and I think there's a couple nights
where they have 15 16 programs going on
at once between here Brooklyn Muncie
where they they're just giving back what
they do is just give back to the
community and especially now where they
started you know they're food pantries
where they started working with you know
there was an issue in the community with
fara still high school you know it's
been in the news been everything going I
say I don't know one of the things
that's very interesting here about
Queens and one things a lot of people
don't know that 70% of a chronic
community is still in public schools
they're you know you would think that
it's something that's sort of evolved
that people have gotten out of the
public school system a system and Kazak
really has been fighting for the needs
of the community members that are in the
public so let me ask you what but what
is that why is that why is the 70% is it
is it financially based why why valerian
family's sending their kid
to Publix was it is it because they're
unaffiliated what's what's the reason
what do you think is the reason so do
community person a there's a lot of
evidence a lot of us can't really focus
on one specific lead of the community or
one Pacific reason why this happening
out there first of all it's a growing
community the the aspect of you know the
immigrant community really of of a
regular immigrant community look how
long it took to take the achievement
system to open how long it take for you
know any of the regular most dos
anything to open up right the current
community is now evolving which is
really you know they which is really why
Kazan is you know on the forefront you
have now leaders of a hiring community
really entering the workforce or just
starting to make themselves you know in
the Corporal building themselves up so
with that becomes now the need for their
children to open up or to create to get
their children from the public school
into the into the yeshiva into the Sheva
live space and part of the problems with
that is you know what Kazakh is fighting
for the public's was fighting for kosher
meals the public school system I we have
seventy percent of the people whether
it's in the Forest Hills High School
whether it is this such a thing as
kosher meals in public school so that
that's initiative right now open in City
Council where they're trying to get you
know right now is passed a million
dollars in the city budget and Kazakh is
out there you know fighting together
with what's kind of fighting out there
with without good are fighting with
other organizations to really to get
that kosher meals and and meals for
everybody not just kosher but it really
works for any anyone who needs that
special meal in the public school system
like let me ask you there so any public
school system do they have like meals
well let's say vegetarians or somebody
who's
vegan let's say or maybe even other
other type of diabetics you know is that
does that exist do have that but they
don't have qohor for religious religious
money so whether it's kosher whether
it's halau right they don't they don't
have that they don't the hand and that's
something weird something they just want
to incorporate and so that City Council
be incorporated so the city count it's
been incorporated in a number of other
cities the City Council really you know
passed that last year with it you know
putting a million dollars into the
budget for the earth for that this year
they really come back strong and they
really asked the mayor to put it as a
line item in the budget to allow food
for everyone right into there so that's
hard but again there's only one thing
that Kazakh is fighting for because is
is taking also working with a
sunday-school program not here I know
that in West Hampstead you know with um
with the number that there's a Sunday
school that a lot of the children there
during the during the week are bussed
out to Brooklyn to schools get Kazak
made a Sunday school program there when
if you go there in a Sunday you'll see
35 kids sitting there so let me ask you
how an important subject school how
important is it for for kids who public
school
one of them what does that do so it
instills some religious and Jewish
belief and into the child right when
they attend the summer school and we
learn about Sonic's are coming up they
learn about what these holidays are
about they now go back to their parents
and say hey these are what we are not
only that but if they learn about like
bomber it turns into a major initiative
for the further we'll take it a step
further they learn about like oh my
right to oil starting now they're going
back to the shul they're going back to
the pen and say hey we want to bring
this like bomber festival to the
community we want to bring a candle
lighting we want to go to a place where
we could go back and play the dreidel
with wit though in the shul it brings
back the sense of Judaism brings back
the sense of you know just the knowledge
back to the parents and back to the
community leaders of what's going on and
it eventually you know they're gonna
want to you know just grow a gentleman
face the whole scene ah it's it's thank
you so much for stopping by I just want
to tell you that and one last statement
because we gotta move on to the next one
but I because you see that Kazakh is not
just involved within community but it's
also involved with the leaders of the
community and also the political issues
that are out there and and creating a
real real difference for the Jewish
community and
really but even outside of that as far
as countries and everything else that
you talk to Don thank you so much for
sharing that one last message I think
we've got about another seven hours what
is the sign say on there seven in the
hours and change to go where over we're
about nearing a million dollars let's
keep it going Kozak has been in the
forefront they work with every community
leader they're not just one there an
overall an umbrella that they work with
every community then leader and let's
just keep momentum going for the last
couple hours great great and I just want
to say that in the future yeah based on
has an incredible insight into the
Jewish community and everything that you
do and I hope I'm going to say it on
camera I hope you run with something big
because you will definitely get the
votes of not just the Jewish community
but everybody that that understands what
you do outside of this community as well
and you're out there and you hear this
name basically now you gotta be able
looking to go and make that boat as well
thank you so much for coming she
absolutely
