Good morning, and welcome to Parsha in
the park.
Uh it's Parshas Tazria-Metzora.
And we hear in this
Parsha that the person who is a Metzora,
who has the tzaraas
malady, has to bring an offering at the
end of
his term, and then that offering is a
bird. Why should it be a bird? Well,
let's listen for a moment.
You hear all the birds? They are
constantly chirping and making noise.
And this guy,
he spoke what's called lashon hara,
which is
talking about true statements about
other people, other Jews that are
disparaging,
and will cause ill to those other
people. And because he didn't stop
talking,
he ended up saying things he shouldn't
have said, and he eventually got
tzaraas, this uh malady that's sometimes
called leprosy, cuz he was chirping like
a bird,
nonstop.
And so, he brings an offering of a bird,
and hopefully that will give him the
message to
be quiet and not talk so much.
And that's what we have to think about,
so we don't get to this point of
tzaraas. It doesn't really happen today,
but we still have the commandment of not
speaking lashon hara. So, let's watch
our mouths. This has been Parsha in the
park. Thank you for watching.
