PARENTING is a one-way street 🔂

we are not here as parents to get anything from our children we're not here to receive anything from them not even the honor that Torah tells them that they have to show us again it's not for me so I'm not here to get that from them oh I'm gonna have to try to teach them how to do that just like I have to try to teach them how to do a lot of things like don't steal and learning how to pray and to meditate and how to make blessings before they they eat and thank God and be grateful for the gifts they're given there's a lot of things I have to teach my child but that's not for me that's not to meet my emotional needs and the minute I think that any of this is about meeting my emotional needs I completely miss the point it's a one-way Street we're here to give to our children is it fair no I didn't say it's fair and to those parents who say I'm also a human being what about my feelings what about my needs my answer is you're right I also have that complaint but your relationship with your child is not the place where you're ever going to meet your emotional needs
