this
is and he's uh unfortunately one of the
people that was murdered three years ago
in Bulgaria in a terror
attack
family
and this we do as a result of it will
raise his soul even higher one of the
things we know about souls is that you
know you ask yourself why is it that
Tora says that the books of Life are
opened every
year it's coming up
soon but it's talking about the people
that are here and the people that are
not here so when you ask
yourself what is the guy that already
left this
world need us to help his
soul especially if it's a sadik a lot of
people go to the graves of the
sadikin and they pray over there and
they uh they ask for
help does the sadik really need you he's
sadik he's already in GED
right so first of all it's very
important to know that there's a very
very specific way that you have to if
you're going to go to a uh grave of a
sadik there's a very specific way you
have to do it meaning that you have to
remember that you're not praying to the
sadik because that's idol worship that's
what Christianity is that's what
Catholicism is that's what every other
religion in the world is it's it's a
form of idol worship you're not allowed
to pray to a person ever what about
everybody going to Babas they can go to
whoever they
want they can go to whoever they want
they go to babali they go to
they can go to they go to all the places
but they have to mention that they're
praying to his God when you say supposed
to say the god of help me not help can't
do anything for you know so you have to
make sure that you're praying to God and
not
to so that's number one it's very very
important people do that the right way
because what happened over time is that
people especially people that don't know
really that much about uh religion don't
really know that much about uh Judaism
is that they don't keep as many of the
mitv but they like the they like the
cultural
stuff so anytime something bad happens
say Shimon or one of the major sages one
of these amazing people that lived in
the past they're asking him for help in
reality they're supposed to pray to God
so it's very very important to do it the
right way no yes why am I mentioning his
name the reason why I'm mentioning his
name is because in essence what you're
asking for is a uh defense attorney
you're asking
that bimon or any one of the major sages
or even Moses is uh going to because of
all the extra that he has and all the
extra that he has in
sh you're going to do
something to honor him and in return you
are hoping that he's going to help you
fight your case
so now if you just say listen something
bad happens I lost some money I'm going
to pray to or I'm going to pray to Moses
or Abraham or Isaac or Jacob or anybody
and just because you're you and because
you have a nice face and you like to
drive fast
cars then you're wasting your prayer and
if
anything uh you are actually dishonoring
their
name if you're going to ask any sage in
history for help you have to do
something
if to do something in return so for
example anyone that's going to ask let's
say may or anyone anyone you have to
learn their work you're going to learn
the Z you're going to learn certain if
if you're going to learn the Tora itself
you're going to learn different that
they gave you're going to do certain
prayers that they advise to do do
something in their name so if you if if
someone says listen I need someone to
help me so I'm going to learn their
Torah their one of their books that they
wrote I'm going to try to learn it so so
in because when I learn their book in
essence I'm giving them aot so their
situation improves even more in sham so
if their situation improves sh maybe
that will convince them to see that I'm
worthwhile to help but to just say
listen uh you know uh rabi so and so
help
me it's not it's not uh it's not going
to yield very much uh at least not in a
logical
way uh the second thing is now when you
talk about these sadim
why is it that people even why why would
we even ask for their help like they
don't need our they don't need us to
raise their soul if you think about it
they
already so what do they need us to raise
their soul
because what we're thinking about when
we think about heaven or hell even is
that it's limited meaning that the joy
in heaven is limited and the suffering
in hell is limited the reason why we
have this limited mindset is because the
world that we live in is limited there's
only a limit of how you know a bigger
person can be there's a limit of how
much somebody can eat there's a limit of
how much someone can breathe there's a
limit of how someone you know operates
there's a limit to
everything because this is the physical
world in the spiritual World there is no
limit it could always be more which
means that even someone as righteous
ASU Oru or or the b or any of them La
deal from all of them but the point is
even their situation could always be
even better because the reward that
Hashem can give them is
endless and that's the that's the very
very big difference between their world
and our world so that's why if we honor
their name uh which for example one of
the reasons why we do uh we celebrate
the holiday of L is in the honor of Rish
shim he's the one to put together the Z
so when uh you celebrate it and you're
in essence you're supposed to be
celebrating his Torah not just make a
bonfire uh because you like to make
potatoes uh so uh when you're
celebrating these holidays again you're
supposed to be you know you're raising
their soul but in essence that's that's
the deal that's supposed to happen
you're supposed to uh uh know that so
but most importantly out of everything
that I just said is that it's only God
the only God in the world the only God
that ever was the only God that ever
will be that can help you that's it it
say no you're not praying to the sadik
you're praying to God and that's one of
the mistakes that some fortunately some
people make especially even some big
congregations that pray to a former
Rabbi that died uh you know 30 years ago
50 years ago 100 years ago uh there's
very big congregations that
unfortunately got so connected to
praying to the sadik that they've turned
the sadik into an idol
which is no different than Christianity
that pray to
JC so the uh that's a very really big
problem because idol worship is one of
the first three Commandments in the Ten
Commandments and the punishment is very
very severe it's mentioned all the way
throughout the entire Tor and every time
that uh uh the violation of Shabbat is
mentioned it's mentioned right next to
idol worship because they're considered
in essence the same someone that does
idol worship is praying to a different
God uh is violating one of the first
three Commandments and Hashem says that
whoever doesn't keep Shabbat is in
essence doing the same exact thing
because by honoring the
Shabbat you're saying that Hashem
created the world in six days and on the
seventh day he stopped creating uh so
someone is not honoring the Shabbat the
fact that Hashem restrained himself
Hashem didn't need six days to create
the World hasem hasem created the world
in an instant really he created
everything in an instant he put
everything together over 6 days for our
benefit not for his you didn't need to
hire construction companies and get
licenses from the government and uh
maybe uh get some uh you know some
people from different countries to work
because it's cheaper labor you didn't
need to do any of that you know he he
obviously did everything in a second but
he he he minimized himself in essence to
take time to create everything over six
days in order to give us a week you know
in order to give us seven days because
after creating everything for six days
then we can do then he stops on the
seventh which if we
stop then we can in essence emulate God
so he wants to give us the same La deal
but the same feeling as he has being a
God so if he's saying so someone that
doesn't keep
Shabbat is pretty much saying listen God
you minimize yourself for me but I don't
really care I'm not going to minimize
myself for you I'm not going to stop my
work I'm going to work because I need to
make money because I make the money not
you don't give it to me because the
weekend are more money on the weekends
right so that's that's that's that's the
main that's the main uh problem with uh
the violation of Shabbat and again it's
a it's very important to know these
things because again when people think
about idol worship it doesn't matter
what religion you are unless you're
worshipping an idol directly like in
Buddhism and things like
that you automatically know it's bad
whether it's Muslim Christian Catholic
or 880,000 other Cults that there are in
in in the world everyone knows idol
worship is not good since you told me
about those Buddhas and all and I see
them at the job sites oh yeah so I don't
even touch it I tell the guy hey you
want to you wrap this I'm not wrapping
that up yeah listen if you're going to a
work site yeah it's a uh it's it's if if
you're going to a friend's house and if
you have a friend that has a statue in
his house you're not allowed to go into
that house just so you know um and
unfortunately Buddha statues are
everywhere they're very very popular for
some strange reason they're very popular
among Israeli houses a lot of Israelis
like Buddha yeah Israelis love Buddha uh
yeah they travel to India they travel to
that part of the world and they like to
have these things in their house and
without even knowing that it's actually
uh a very big big sin so it's good to
know these things because again
sometimes we can make a sin very uh
innocently uh just out of ignorance and
that's why I say that ignorance is the
biggest poison that someone can inject
into themselves because without knowing
you don't even know what you don't know
let me ask you a question yeah when it
comes
to
yeah all the
sages depends you're talking about in
this
generation I get okay
let's say 40 years ago no
okay people put pictures in their house
of them it's in is that in the form of
idol worship no it's not a form of idol
worship if you know what you're doing
you're honoring him in a sense that he's
a sage you're trying to emulate his
behavior uh you're wishing you know
you're trying to do what he did in his
life and achieve the extraordinary
amount of mitv that he did in his life
you want to have the same midot you want
to have the same behavior he did the
same same things that he so you if
you're praying to him that's a problem
so now now now the next question should
be okay so what if what happens if one
day I can't go to besset and I want to
pray that's a question yeah right so I
want to pray but uh now if I pray
there's a the first three prayers of of
the first three prayers you're supposed
to Bow right supposed to
Bow the first three it used to be they
used to Bow all of them uh but now we
only bow the first
three so now if you have a picture on
the wall of anyone doesn't necessarily
need to be a sadik could be even uh your
father uh you have to bow in a different
direction you cannot bow towards that
direction because it would look like if
somebody's walking into the room you
know that you're not bowing to him right
but if you always have to worry about
which is actually one of the things we
learn in this par you always have to
make sure that if someone sees you
it doesn't look like a bad thing because
that causes so if somebody walks into
your house a friend that walks into your
house and he says wait a minute he's
bowing to I don't know laich or babaali
or somebody else it looks like idol
worship so that that could create a
which is a very very bad sin that uh uh
without suffering cannot be fixed in
this world so um also you know again
it's a it's important to honor the sages
learn their work take their advice
100% but when people take that and they
say listen learning the I'm not at that
level learning the it's too difficult
learning the I don't have time learning
a simple book about or mid I didn't get
a chance to yet but I could just say his
name and uh do uh you know and just do
that and pretty much just pray to him
they're in essence taking the the
important and going to the and think
which is unimportant and they're turning
Judaism which is holy and beautiful into
outright idol
worship and that happens very often with
people that are not religious because
again when you're not religious you're
not surrounded by religious people so no
one is going to be there to correct
you the fact that there are some
religious people Many religious people
that do it themselves is a different
story but the point is the point of the
matter is that every Jew knows that idol
worship is not allowed the people that
do it never think it's idol worship uh
but I can guarantee you that this is not
my opinion this is 100 opinion of the
tah and major rabbis that have have told
me this um it's you have to be very very
careful when you are praying uh and
mentioning a rabbi's name even if it's
mosu very very careful you have to make
sure that you are asking for AEM
uh because of his because of
his help me so that's in essence what
you're trying to do uh and uh that could
help you it works it's not it's not
something I'm not saying it doesn't work
it 100% Works to honor theim is is a big
Mitzvah of
itself um but it has to be done
appropriately and unfortunately in our
generation there's so much buut which is
like
ignorance in our generation that people
don't know what they don't know which
means that there's an extraordinary
amount of idol worship that's innocent
it's not that they're doing it
intentionally not saying listen I want
to turn this guy with a beard into an
idol no one says that it's people do it
innocently people do it as a mistake
unfortunately it's still it's still a
sin it's shog it's an unintentional sin
but it's still a sin so if we could
avoid that sin just by learning the
first 15 minutes of our or that's it
we're done we could avoid it so any
other any other questions about the
issue we can move on
into okay so we have two this
week uh a lot of really interesting
things to be honest with you I'm hoping
that we could uh cover all of it or at
least as much of it as possible I mean
to cover all of it would take probably
years but at least the stuff that I
wanted to highlight
um starts with the lessons about vows
and Oaths
and a lot of people
today speak again innocently it's very
rarely will you find someone doing an
intentional sin yes there are
unfortunately some haters of Hashem in
the world uh I actually got to uh uh um
experience one just uh yesterday or the
day
before um but uh it's a very very small
percentage of people very very small
percentage of people the haters of hasem
they're very noticeable why because they
make their opinion is very public and
they try to do everything they can to uh
make everyone know that they hate the
whole aspect of Judaism and God and
religion in general now we we're
excluding them from the opinion with the
other 99.9% of
people generally don't do sins
intentionally people do things either
because they don't know or they don't
believe someone that's not keeping
Shabbat which is the number one most
important mitvah as far as to be Jewish
even is not not keeping it because uh
you know he he doesn't uh he doesn't
think it's a good thing it's either he
doesn't know that he has to or he
doesn't know it's import or he just
doesn't believe he doesn't believe that
it's real he doesn't believe that Tor is
real he doesn't believe that it's really
relevant in
today
so that's and that goes for every
Mitzvah that goes for every a every
every every sin or or Good Deed that
people do is based on uh whether they
believe or
not so the issues of N and Oaths vows
and Oaths is a problem because people
speak freely people constantly promise
each other different things especially
in
business and when someone says yeah
listen if you uh you know people say oh
you know listen yeah you refer me some
clients I'll definitely pay you
yeah after say B you're a smart guy you
learned some most people don't say
B
so say listen you're going to refer me a
client uh every client you give me I'm
going to give you
$55,000 or uh someone says listen if you
uh if you do this and this for me I'll
you know return a favor even bigger I'll
do something else for you and you don't
really mean
it now when someone thinks of a
they're thinking that I have to
say meaning I make
a vow that I will do such and
such that's what I thought most of my
life I thought that in order for me to
say a in order for me to make a you know
a swear in so many
words I have to actually make it like
it's a formal statement of some kind or
procedure like maybe I have to go even
to a rabbi and tell him listen I make
this n but it's not a simple statement
can be a
n something as simple as I promise you
that I will
do can get you into a lot of trouble so
it's very important that you know we we
think about our words it's actually also
part of the reason why in the Holy books
it says that each person is brought to
this world with a limited amount of
words meaning that there's a limited
amount of words that each person has for
his
lifetime now that does not include Torah
words like if someone is learning Torah
they could they could talk unlimited
amount of Torah but if it's not relevant
to T there's actually a limited amount
of words so someone that just likes to
talk about nonsense uh and day-to-day
stuff but excessively is actually
wasting their life and usually they die
very young Yas uh yentas I guess it's
another way you could say it um not
necessarily all the time it's again
there's a rule there's an exception to
the rule but there's a uh in General
we're all limited as far as the amount
of words that we have um so when we make
promises we have to make sure that we
mean them and if we don't mean them or
if we uh don't we're not sure we're
going to do it we always have to make
sure we say B like you know I'm not
making a vow and I try my best but I'm
not going to make a
vow the other thing is is that sometimes
people get into trouble they get sick or
uh they have financial trouble or is a
very big fight or they lost something
very important to them uh or something
like something happens they're they're
in trouble and usually when someone is
in trouble what
happens what happens they look at thisy
ah they look up they look at Hashem
Hashem help me and I can't help myself
the money is not going to help me the
girl's not going to help me the car is
not going to help me the house is not
going to help me the hundred million
doll in the bank is not going to help me
why because there certain things in life
most things that are really important in
life money can't help you and all of the
other material things in the world can't
help you so someone's in trouble someone
you can't buy
Health you can buy convenience but you
can't buy
Health best example of it a recent
example of it is look at Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs was a multi-billionaire very
very successful very very bright guy
died very young all the billions did
nothing for
him so again we don't wish anyone death
this is just for the purpose of showing
an example
now when someone gets into trouble and
they get usually it's when they get very
sick or they're in a very serious
situation
they promis that they will do something
Hashem if you help me do if you help me
get through this I will do I will keep
shabat I will do I will give I will
donate to such and such cause they
promised to do a mitvah and then hashm
helps them and they don't want to do it
anymore all of a sudden they became too
busy all of a sudden money is a little
tighter than they thought all of a
sudden Shabbat is just not doesn't fit
their life right now maybe once I get
married maybe once I get rich maybe once
this happens or that happens is kicking
is working 100% is is someone we need to
learn from what do we need to learn from
the according to we have to learn his
work ethic he never
stops we have to be just like him either
him or the ant the ant also never stops
working so now
when uh when someone makes a vow that
they're going to
give they don't have to say I need no D
they don't have to actually make it a
form even if someone says I'm going to
do gifts let's
say
and they don't do
it that's not good not only not good
they're uh they're putting they're
putting people's lives at risks now what
is the
punishment for breaking
a someone a man breaks
a his wife and his children are supposed
to
die so either his wife or his children
are supposed to die so sometimes you see
in the world you know why did this
5-year-old Kid die or why did this
little girl this little boy or this wife
young wife why do these people die this
could very well be one of the many
reasons of why people die uh because
people speak freely about things and
make promises that they don't want to
keep or don't have an intention of
keeping and uh that's one of the things
that makes Hashem very very angry so
this is specifically one of the things
that tells us that uh making a vow is
not just one of these things you can't
just make empty promises not with
AEM so when a man makes a promise when a
man makes a
vow and doesn't keep it he's putting B
he's putting people's lives at risk
serious people's lives at risk
especially when it's at the time of
trouble if someone is just saying listen
I promise you that I'm going to show up
on time next week okay that's one level
of Promise it's very very different
logically and based on kazal than
someone saying listen God if you give me
Health then I will do every day or
something like that it's very very
different level of n because here AEM
saved your life showing up in time it's
the best effort let's say so it's a very
very different n
uh so the one that when someone is in
trouble and Hashem doesn't uh you know
deliver Hashem delivers but he doesn't
that's a very dangerous position to be
in so now when a woman makes a n when
she's a child and she's not married then
she makes a Ned if her father found out
that same day that she made or the the
minute that he found out that she made a
Ned if he doesn't think it's a good one
meaning if he doesn't think that she can
do it or if it doesn't doesn't think
it's a good good thing for her to do he
can cancel her n he can cancel her
vow once she gets married her that
responsibility transfers to the husband
but it has to be at the time they find
out it cannot be uh you know a uh he
found out said nothing about it and then
the next day decided that uh you know
it's not a good idea it has to be within
that same uh same day so that's that's
another one of the things that kazal
explains to us in the beginning
this where it
says says Moses spoke to the heads of
the tribes meaning he's teaching all of
the people all the leaders of Israel of
the children of Israel saying this is
the thing that Hashem has commanded if a
man will take a vow to Hashem or swear
an oath
to establish a Prohibition upon himself
he shall not desecrate his word
according to whatever comes from his
mouth shall he do so when it says shall
he do when he says that he obviously has
to do it meaning means that there is a
consequence for it which it uh goes into
in the next several
verses now one very very interesting
thing that I think is is actually I I
found very interesting in this first
paragraph on verse uh
six is that uh it says
here so it says but if a father meaning
if a girl that's
unmarried uh made a but if a father
restrained her meaning that if the
father said no no we're going to cancel
this
n all of her vows and our prohibitions
that she established on ourselves shall
not stand meaning there canceled but
then it says something very interesting
and Hashem will forgive her for her
father has restrained her very rarely do
you see and Hashem will forgive specific
sins like there's a certain thing that's
happens and then asem will forgive even
though someone technically made a sin
hem will forgive
him the whole concept of chuva was
created before the world and it's
discussed in the Tora and in the and so
on but a specific verse that
says meaning and hem will forgive her or
him is very
rare so he's giving you the
Mitzvah which also means you know
counter to it he's giving you the a if
you don't do it he's giving you the way
to fix it and he's telling you if you
fix it I'll forgive
you that's not done with Shabbat that's
not done
with that's not done
with wasting seed that's not done with
major sins that we discuss nearly every
week where someone will do this Hashem
will forgive him it's not written there
so it's very very interesting it's not
that it's interesting that it's written
here because of the N it's interesting
because it's not written anywhere
else and that's the important part
meaning that in order to fix the other
sins it's not as easy as the it's not as
easy meaning not easy as meaning it's
not as easy as having my dad or the
girl's father fix it or the girl's uh
husband fix it it's not as easy as that
in order to really have the other ones
fixed someone has to do a full chuva
it's not a one two three
thing so there's one time I'm sure you
guys have all heard of aaka one of the
most important Jews in history one of
the reasons why he's one of the most
important Jews aside from the fact that
uh he uh started from nothing he started
at the age of 40 he's the perfect chuva
story at the age of 40 years
old he knew absolutely nothing his his
parents were converts he was divorced
with a kid
and he was cleaning
horses one day one of the three richest
men's daughters Rael his name the
father's name was
kala sees that RAB AA is not known as
Raba at that point has good midot has
Good Nature Good
characteristics even though he's a
complete Amal even though he's a
complete ignorant to Judaism complete
ignorant to anything relating to Torah
and as a matter of fact when he speaks
about the experience themselves he says
he used to be anti-semite he used to
hate
Jews so much that he said every time I
saw a religious Jew I would want to bite
them like a donkey
so one of the says no no Raba you mean
you want to bite them like a dog no no
no I want to bite them like a donkey
because why donkey go because when a dog
bites he tears the flesh but it's after
a few weeks it's fixed when a donkey
bites he pulverizes the bones and it's
unhealable that's how much I hated
religious Jews
vac this shows us what the Torah can do
to someone's nature and how it can
improve it so
ra wanted to marry Raba under the
condition that he will do chv and he
will go learn T exclusively learn to no
work no nothing with his kid and he went
and learned for 24 years he actually
came back after 12
years and
before he saw his wife he overheard her
conversation with her evil neighbor who
was making fun of her the evil neighbor
was saying hey what did you get married
for you're you lost out so much
because once your father found out that
you wanted to marry this
bum that was cleaning horses he cut you
off from the whe he cut you off from all
money so you're completely poor you have
no money to eat you have to sell your
hair your hair in order to get money to
eat sell her hair she was very very
beautiful she sold her hair in order to
get
food so you lost your beauty you lost
your money your father's a billionaire
nothing just for this guy to go learn
for 12 years and you're alone on top of
it at least if he's good-looking and
he's with you I don't know maybe the
desire is so big he's with you but you
don't even have the husband he's
learning so what do ra say if he could
hear me now I would tell him to go for
another 12
years
soik what does he do he honors his wife
he turns around and he goes back to the
Yesa for another 12 years doesn't even
say hello someone asked listen okay I
understand nice okay went studied 24
years great
but but I don't understand why didn't he
at least say hi stay for a weekend you
haven't seen her in 12 years want to
lose stay for a weekend stay for a week
what's the big
deal explains is that once you stay for
a day becomes two days a week a month
who knows if I can beat that yet cuz
once I have a little bit of you know
time with her who knows if I can be
learn
again he's even saying about himself so
24 years
later AB AA not only comes into town but
he brings his 24,000 students 24,000
students that died later which we still
mourn till today in the uh during the um
om but nonetheless he had the biggest
Yeshiva in history no one in today's age
has many people have you know students
some have a few thousand students I
think there's a there's a Yesa in um in
New Jersey one of the biggest in the
world I think they have maybe like five
or 7,000 students a lot of there but
24,000 students unfortunately no one
has so AKA comes into town with his
24,000 students now what kind of
students do they
have each student just the worst of all
of his students they describe the best
student and they describe the worst
student
so how do we compare it because if I
tell you the things that they know it
won't really necessarily make that much
sense so let's just explain it this way
if you compare all of the Torah in the
world that everyone has in the world all
the and all the people that don't know
much everyone in the world today combine
all of it together is not equal to even
one of
them to the worst
one and that's by by the way one of the
reason why we mourn their death we don't
mourn that they died we mourn the fact
that we don't have any more Tor from
them because all of the Torah that we
have is actually not from them it's from
the five students that started Judaism
again one of them actually
being uh so we mourn the fact that since
if you see the amount of tah we have in
the world just from five people imagine
what we would have in the world if all
24,000 didn't die the way they did so
why did I tell you the story
abouta is because when AA came in with
his 24,000 students the whole town knew
this giant sadik is coming 24,000
students is not a normal
thing so ra
knows it's our husband she has this
feeling it's our husband coming in he's
the sadik so she goes into the crowd so
the I say no no no Lady this is uh it's
not modest being amongst all these men
move aside
so says no no no let her in let her in
let her come in because all of the Torah
that all of you
know is her
T all of the T that all of you know is
because Authority
right the only reason I know anything
about Torah is because of
her so at that time so this shows you
the the the and the levels of sacrifice
that people that understood the
importance of T made someone like ra no
end to her G there's no end to her award
the only reason we have t in today's
world is because of what she did with r
of course hasm would have found
different ways but again the way it
worked is due
to so how is this relevant to vows so
now her father
Kal he was also very righteous he wasn't
uh just a regular guy he was a very
very wise Rabbi in add to being
extremely
rich but he saw his daughter making what
he thought was a very big mistake so he
made a vow he made a
n that because you're making this big
mistake I'm cutting you off so now we
heard that this big giant Rabbi is
coming into town he doesn't know it's
his son-in-law he hasn't seen him in 24
years he hasn't seen his daughter in 24
years yeah so he goes one of the rich
people he uh he gets in front of RAB
AA some I think say that it was at that
very time that his daughter was there
some no but either way the point is that
he gets in front of R AA and he says
Rabbi please help me Rabbi Raba knows
who he is but he doesn't say who he is
because how can I help you I made a very
big mistake 24 years ago I made a vow to
cut off my daughter because she married
this
fool and uh I miss her I want to see
her and he says this fool does uh you
know T he go no no he knew nothing
complete ignorant he used to clean my
horses mhm goes well what would happen
if this fool became a big Rabbi would
you still Cut Her Off become a rabbi no
I wouldn't Cut Her Off even if he knew a
little bit of tah if he knew if he just
knew the
AL didn't even know the AL didn't even
know the alphabet he says if you
wouldn't know any Tora I wouldn't have
cut her off but he was so ignorant I had
to cut her off it was a giant mistake he
goes don't worry your vow your n doesn't
doesn't count it's not a real n
and I'm RAB AKA I'm your son-in-law why
is it not because he made the vow based
on a false
pretense the situ the circumstances that
he made the
N were not
valid because the potential of learning
Tor the potential for Raba to learn the
Torah was always there he just assumed
that he's never going to learn toah
whatever he knows is what he's always
going to know and not even becoming a
rabbi he says if he knew any Torah
obviously you know big difference now
that he knows not only a lot of Tor he
knows more than anyone else so when
someone has when someone makes a and
they make a vow and they know they
cannot keep it it's very important you
have to go in front of uh the three Dian
three uh uh judges and they have to find
a way to cancel
it that's
called but to to tell you already ahead
of time so you know someone that made a
during trouble meaning someone that was
sick and said if Hashem you give me back
my health or if you save my life or
something like that someone that makes a
n or vow during a time like that you
cannot cancel it you have to meet your
obligation so if you have to keep
Shabbat or if you have to whatever it is
that you you made a for you have to do
it so that's the issues of
n next thing is you know we always say
that the par is is relevant to our to
our world today this particular next uh
part is uh how par is relevant to the
world today and we'll go over in a
second now as you remember from a couple
of weeks ago we had the issue where the
uh the Jews made a very big mistake and
had relations with all the M medanite
women and because of that Hashem killed
put a plague and killed
24,000 Jews in in a moment which they
were by the way the Gul of the 24,000
students
OFA so
now after they made this big sin they
did chuva but hasem said okay listen
this is it's great that we uh we did the
chuva but they still caused the death of
these medanite women these midianites in
general this nation of median caused a
very big uh
amount of death for my children and he
wants am Isel
to have their Vengeance in his name so
he
says it
says hem spoke to Moses saying take
Vengeance for the children of Israel
against the midianites afterward you
will be GED unto your people so he's
telling Moshe
tell to uh go to war with these people
take the
vengance uh against these
people all right but take the Vengeance
in their name because they lost 24,000
people am lost 24,000
people this also shows us moshe's love
for hasem what does say
to Moses spoke to the people
[Music]
saying so he's saying arm men from among
yourselves for Alle Legion that they uh
they may go against Midian to inflict
hashem's Vengeance against Midian so
instead of saying like hasem say Hashem
says take a Vengeance for your own
loss Moses says no we're taking a
Vengeance for hasem name not for our own
loss this shows us at least a small
example of of
Moses purpose in life was just to do Kem
his purpose in life was just to fight
for hem not for himself not for people
that's actually the biggest part of the
reason of why when he hasem told him
that he's going to die that's why he was
upset he wasn't upset that he was going
to die he knew that he's already set in
[Music]
ganeden he was upset that that he can't
continue to service Hashem that's the
difference so the next thing he
says so he's saying we're going to go
have a Vengeance against Midian in
hashem's name and he's telling them to
set up this
Army thank you
[Music]
amen so he's saying you know you have to
set up this Army so he's saying a
thousand from a tribe A Thousand from a
tribe for all the tribes of Israel shall
you send to the
legion this is the verse that I say is
very very relevant not only to
today as far as the world today but
today
today anyone know why I know why no I
think no because what it means is that
if you send a thousand a
thousand uh Fox's act to battle you can
have a thousand in the Yesa learning for
those a thousand that are
going should be teaching the class all
my secrets you
have so that's what it what is saying
for every thousand
soldiers that you send into the army to
fight because we know the soldiers are
not going to win the battle it's not the
soldiers winning the battle it's not the
guns or the special scun missiles or the
Iron Dome or the uzi or this weapon or
that weapon it's not them per se that
are winning the war it's hem Hashem
decides whether you're going to win the
war or not now is HEM going to let you
win the war because you have a nice
weapon you worked really hard because
you have a weapon no hasem going to make
you uh win because you have a nice Iron
Dome that you cost you $100,000 a
missile no no what doesm want in this
world to do to learn
T obviously knows this so he says listen
we have to have our to make things look
natural hm doesn't want to make it an
unnatural world where every time we go
to war he just kills the other side and
that's it right so he wants it to make
it look natural so we have to actually
physically go to war but the real reason
of why we would win the war is because
of the to that we're going to learn so
for every Soldier for every thousand
soldiers that I have going to fight the
war I'm going to have thousand people
learning
to and that's the way they're going to
win the war not because of the soldiers
but because of the people learning the
tah unfortunately in today's world in
Israel things are very very different
than what the Torah
says instead of honoring
the and realizing that the only reason
why we still exist not just in Israel
but in the entire world is due to
them the government is going against
them the people some of them are going
against them the government continues to
make laws that not
only make it difficult for these people
to live and study but they actually find
them for doing so and they're forcing
many of them to go into the army and
this becomes a very political disgusting
conversation when you talk to some
people that don't believe in Tor they
have a very very different opinion to
what hashem's opinion
is without spending too much time into
their opinion at all the key here is
that when someone knows the Tora is real
and there's countless proofs of why it
is things
like
the
uh 32nd page talks about the number of
stars that are in uh in the sky the
exact number of stars being one 64 340
and then 12 zos after it at a time thear
was written we didn't even have a
telescope we only came up with research
in the last uh 25 years that finally
caught up to
knowing how many stars there are in the
universe matching the number that the
gar wrote a couple thousand years
ago things like cures to different
uh
diseases countless prophecies that have
come
true and even things
like excuse me predicting the
Holocaust predicting that the Holocaust
will
happen in
when somebody says okay there's
different ways of predicting the
Holocaust you know there's different
places in the tah using codes you could
see that there is a in the same page
that it talks about the punishment that
hasem will
give am for uh for making certain
sins and in that same page shows you
different codes of
Hitler the Holocaust gas Chambers the
names of the major officers in Hitler's
Army all the same
page that's one
way an even easier
way is just looking
at I believe it's page
six it talks
about how yobu is pleading is pleading
with
Hashem saying Hashem I know that my son
yov which by the way is representing
Israel is you know they're not always
going to be righteous and when uh he
loses his strength you give the strength
to
asav as of that's the country that's the
named
after but please this
asav don't give him too much power give
him power like you would give a bull
when you put a ring around his
nose is a bull running around his nose
have anything to do with anything a bull
is a very very strong animal right very
strong animal no human could manage it
it's nowhere near our our strength but
when you put the ring around their nose
you can control them like a
puppy take all of their huge amount of
power power but now they're controlled
by this small thing because it causes
them
pain he's saying even when you give the
power to as make him like a bull with
the ring around an ax it's better said
an ax with a bull or ax same thing um
with the ring around his nose that's a
that's the weak part that's the weak
part
exactly
so very next verse after
that it talks about who is this ax and
who is this he
says and his bll is the same thing as
what's going to be with
Gman for if hasem didn't make them like
the
bull with the ring around his nose and
he didn't create weaknesses within them
where they were fighting the leaders
were fighting each other they would
destroy the entire world and it
specifically says gmania gmania what's
gmania anyone speaks
Hebrew
Germany now let me ask you a question
when thear was written was Germany did
Germany exist no Germany if you look at
their history if you go into the U
American history archives you see the
history of of Germany Germany started uh
somewhere around 800 years
ago when about
300 Barbarian tribes came together to to
form a
country and in that very same gar it
talks about how this Germany came from
tribes this is the this is not even the
written Torah this is the is the oral
Tora the one that's the one that
everyone has a problem with people don't
want to follow Judaism whether it's
Christians or non-religious Jews always
says no I believe what it says in the
Kash yeah I believe but the know rabbis
wrote it rabbis wrote it they made those
rules that's what I used to say not to
make myself the most like the was most
evil person on Earth but really that's
what I used to
say you don't when you don't know you
don't know what you don't
know all I heard was hey there a bunch
of rabbis arguing in this thing called
thear so I thought okay it's a bunch of
rabbis arguing who wants to be a part of
that you're not realizing that what
they're arguing is that they're not
arguing whether you should keep Shabbat
or not keep Shabbat they're not arguing
whether you should do or not do they're
arguing of how to do it the best
possible way so the first maybe 15 pages
which in pages are double they're front
and back first maybe 15 pages they
discuss and they're debating the best
time to do it and the whole battle for
15 pages which is a huge part considered
in the to talk about one
subject they're battling maybe for about
a half hour meaning the whole discussion
is about whether you should do it at
this time or 30 minutes later or 15
minutes later so it's it's perfecting
the mitvah not whether you should do the
Mitzvah or not it's kind of perfect it
in between you see you get a lot of
wisdom in Judaism and a lot of amazing
prophecies are in thear in the Tor and
this is just one of the many signs of
how do we
know that the Torah is Divine both the
oral Torah and the written Torah so here
when we have a
world
that is against these
uh they're
against what M says here so why is this
relevant to today I'm sure you all heard
that today the United States made a very
bad deal along with the rest of the
leading nations in the world that are
anti-semites and they made a deal with
Iran
made a deal with nuclear weapon with
Iran we're not really going to go over
all the details of this deal but
uh to cut it to a point it's only a
matter of time before we go to a major
war there is no possible way that Israel
can
stay doing nothing they have to go to
war so it's only a matter of
time one of the craziest things about
this deal is that our side meaning the
let's let's call it the good guys get
nothing they on the other hand can
continue developing
their atomic weapons even though they
call it non-atomic or uh you know not uh
non weapons they continue doing what
they're doing as far as checking they
say listen you're allowed the UN is
allowed to go check they're allowed to
go check our premises so that sounds oh
okay so as long as we can check good
there's checks and balance we can make
sure if you're really developing a
weapon we can check and if you are then
we can shut you down right that's
logically that's what you would think
that would mean right but if you look at
the very next thing after it it says but
we can stop you from
checking so you have the freedom to
check until we don't want you
to and the best part about it is that
we're releasing I think America is
releasing hundred
billion of money that's been sanctioned
that's been pretty much Frozen because
they fund Iran is the biggest fun of
terrorism so about 100 billion dollar of
their money has been frozen we're
releasing all of it giving it back to
them so it's a huge stimulus to their
economy huge stimulus to use that money
to buy more
weapons I love this President Obama it's
not just him that's the sad part it's
not just him as much as we would love to
blame him it's not just him I can't
stand the guy I think it was a mistake
since day one but it doesn't matter the
reality of it is that when a leader
becomes a leader their free choice is
taken away from them according to the
Torah what does that mean that free
choice is taken away from them just like
par his free choice was taken away from
them that's why hasm didn't kill him
when he SW when all the Egyptians died
when hasm put together put back all the
water from the sea of reeds the only one
that didn't die was par the biggest
he was the leader how come he didn't die
because hasm took away his choice and
that's what Hashem does with every
leader he takes away their free choice
meaning that the decisions that Obama
makes all the people in this government
are making all the people of the Israeli
government are making it's what hasem
wants not because he wants to kill
us because he's trying to wake us
up as long as we're going against
like they're the enemy and we're not
going to do
says then he's going to show us that
it's only a matter of time before we're
going to need
those because our weapons are not going
to help us against
Iran sorry does uh does does Obama have
a free choice or takes away his free
choice his major choices meaning like
choices like what was done today which
is
completely Beyond any level of logic
whatsoever even the biggest fool
wouldn't make this deal but he bu so
that choice that choice for Better or
For Worse is not is not necessarily his
own doesn't necessarily make him good or
pro- Israel the guy's been anti-israel
since day one or even anti-america
according to many
people but
nonetheless blaming him is not going to
help us blaming ourselves is the only
look amazing thing M when Obama went to
the Cel there was an article that the
one stole them note that he put in the
Cortel and they published it in in the
or whatever yeah I remember yeah and I
that was Rabbi MOS showed that note in
his and the note says it's unbelievable
he says please God guard me in your ways
I mean it now let me ask you a question
now let me ask you a question do you
think okay let me ask you a question let
me do your let me do your right now let
me ask you a
question do you think he's a fool no
right he's not a fool do you think he
didn't know they're going to steal the
note I they not of course he know he
going to steal the note what do you mean
it's the president of United States put
a note on the wall that's available to
everybody he's not going to steal the
note people steal the note if they just
see a righteous guy putting the note
they if just a strange person is there
they of course he knew you have to
understand someone someone that gets to
that level of power someone that gets to
any level of power has to assume there
always an ibat watching that's why I
used to tell all my employees when we
used to have a the business I would tell
people never write anything on the
Internet or an email or anything
electronic that you don't want the
entire world to know because eventually
the entire world was going to know and
that's the mistakes that a lot of people
make they write emails saying crazy
things thinking no who cares about my
email who cares about my text message
who cares about this who cares about
that eventually you see you know big
breaking news so and so is a crook a
liar and he's cheating on his wife how
do we find out his text
message so it's of course he knew
they're going to take the note think
small world why you think he's a
fool people that don't think think that
oh he's such a righteous guy hasem help
me they're being a little naive with all
do respect to them it's very naive to
think that he president of the United
States going to put a note and they're
not going to uh look into it the notes
are you know they're they're easy access
not like there's guards guarding the
notes anyway moving forward an
interesting part of the POA is that when
they go to war with the midianites as
far as going into the story part of
itself if you guys
remember that uh one of the main causes
to have all these
women go and entice the Jews to make
this giant sin what was it the idea of
bam the prophet
right he's the one that he tried cursing
them he tried cursing am because he was
a prophet and he had that power but
hasem took that power away from him and
turned his curses into blessings so then
he told he told balak the king of Midian
said listen my curses are not going to
work but I can give you an idea
z I know their God and their God hates
zma what's zma zi is prostitution
promiscuity things sex crimes things
that AEM doesn't like like people that
are not a modest when wom are walking
around with mini skirts and tube tops
and tank tops he doesn't like it people
that are promiscuous with sex he doesn't
like it people that have uh you know all
of these things that we talked in detail
last week premarital sex SE cheating on
a husband cheating on a wife all that
stuff Hashem hates this stuff
prostitution obviously homosexuality
obviously Hashem hates it hasem hates
all of that stuff if you make them sin
with that
they'll lose their God he'll punish them
himself he won't even have to fight them
so said okay it's worth a shot he hated
is so much he said okay send our women
to their Camp including my own daughter
including the prince's
daughter to go make sex crimes with them
make sins with them the women go Hashem
gets very angry and puts a plague that
in the matter of minutes kills 24,000
people and only stopped because
was zealous for hem loved theem with no
limitation and took it into his hands to
kill the leader of the Shimon tribe with
the with the um the princess from Midian
uh and killed them on the spot so
now this we already know
no in this week's telling us to go to
war with them to avenge his name avenge
our own name the death of all our
brothers and sisters that
died so we go to war with
them and at that very moment bam that
very same Rashad that had the
idea he's coming he doesn't know thata
is about to attack he's coming over
there he's coming to Midian he's coming
to collect his
money Milam was a very big prideful
person thought he was a very big deal
and he wanted his money so he came to
collect his money he said listen only
reason why you caused $24,000 people to
die without any of your soldiers dying
because of my idea so I need to collect
my money at that very moment am came to
attack and hasem told us to kill all of
them to kill
everyone bam was a again like I said he
was a wizard was a prophet had powers so
he tried flying away so the midash tells
us the uh what the itself
says they
killed with the sword
but the um the midash explains number
one that bam actually tried flying away
he flew in the air he had powers he
tried flying in the air and Pinas took a
spear and uh hit him in the air and
pulled him down a spear with a rope and
pulled him down very mystical stuff very
interesting part of the
uh and killed him but the uh significant
part of this verse is that they say that
he killed him with a sword why is it why
is it uh with a sword because bam tried
using the blessing that Hashem gave the
nation of Israel which is the nation of
Jacob which is our mouth our mouth has
extraordinary
power unlimited power you could pray or
you can
curse someone that prays could literally
have extraordinary things happen in
their life someone who learns to can
have extraordinary afterlife
extraordinary existing life someone on
the other hand that tells the kid Hey
listen don't do that all get the dog to
bite you even if he's doing it as a joke
it actually cause a dog to bite his kid
that's why it's not good to joke around
with your kids and say that listen don't
do that or I'll get I'll call the cops
and they'll arrest you you can't say
that because they say that you know your
mouth actually have a lot of power you
could actually cause harm to your own
child just by saying something innocent
like a
joke so
bam was trying to
use the power of
Jacob his mouth his prophecy that hasem
gave him to curse us to go against the
nation of Israel The Chosen Nation
obviously didn't allow it to happen so
to punish him Hashem punish them with
what with the reward that he gave the
nation of asab what what reward that he
gave the nation of esab you're going to
live by the sword asa's nation is going
to live by the
sword and they killed him with the sword
so but that also shows you the
difference of what someone can
have a huge connection with
AEM like prophecy we don't have any
prophets in the world we haven't had
prophets in a long long
time but still use it the wrong way and
still lose a share to the world to
come the next thing
is the nation of Israel the soldiers
come back and they tell uh Moshe listen
we um we killed them we destroyed them
but we brought 32,000
women 32,000 of their
women we brought them back they weren't
fighting they're not soldiers so we
brought them back take it into the
nation we didn't sit with them
though Moses gets very angry with them
says Moses was angry with the commanders
of the army the officers of the
thousands the officers of the hundreds
who came from the Legion of the battle
he's very very angry with them you know
he's pretty much telling them I don't
understand your inability to control
yourself with the very same women caused
24,000 people to die and you bring them
back you bring 32,000 of them back here
many of them being the same prostitutes
that caused you to to Die the same women
that sinned with
you what the what they actually uh Pinas
explains and what the uh what the
leaders are saying no no no we didn't
bring them to be with us we brought them
because they're not soldiers we don't
want to kill them
innocently so mhe explains to them that
God said kill all the people that had
anything to do with the crime
destroy them so obviously Hashem knows
how to test what's a he knows who sin
who didn't but we don't so they had a
very interesting way of doing it they
would put them put each woman in front
of the crown of the uh K and if the
woman was was ever with a man and sinned
with a
man uh they she would turn green and
they would know and they would kill her
very day with with that grief from the
tribe of Shimon or from any son from a
man was it from if she knew a man it
just says it says if uh Every Woman fit
to Know a Man by lying with male doesn't
necessarily say that she uh you shall
kill it doesn't say necessarily if she
was with a
uh assume that if she had uh relations
before she must probably right G
so
now the
uh okay so that's the uh turn where
turned green that's right everyone turn
she's the same she's the one that
say so how many were were left from the
32 how many 32 well there was actually
more than 32,000 eventually it was
32,000 that were spread that the
remainder of of of the ones that weren't
killed were 32,000 actually I was I made
a mistake on that thank you for correct
uh the remainder after
killing the
um the uh Sinners was 32,000 that was
split we'll go over in a
second so
now something very interesting is after
this it talks talks about the uh we get
our um laws of koshering utensils when
someone buys a uh you know I don't know
let's say new pot from the
store uh they have to take it to the mik
m what about if someone is doing chuva
let's say before he did chuva he used to
eat kazil and uh with some shrimp in it
and with a bunch of with some cheese and
mix it all together make a nice sandwich
but now
he's sadik doesn't do that doesn't want
to do it so why you have to force the
guy to go by new everything he doesn't
have the money so he's not going to eat
no right so what happens to teach us
here how to kosher
utensils if those
utensils were ones that were burned it
means that the pores of the metal are
open which means the pores of the metal
are swallowing the T
taste absorbing the taste of the meat or
the non- kosher stuff so that utensil
that that pot or pan or anything like
that has to be burned burned to the
point where you're reopening burned with
a white up to a point where it's a white
fire it says um so very very hot fire
like the kind of stuff that we did for
p and uh which reopens the pores and
empties them out and that purifies it if
only cold food
was made in this pot or pan or plate
then you just have to put it in a mik
water in holy water it's in a mik and
you put it
there so now here's a nice question for
you guys let's see who knows the answer
what if I'm a
convert yesterday I was Chris today I'm
a what's the question what's the
question what the
question obviously this is not the same
answer guys you're smart you know it's
not gonna be the same answer yesterday I
was Chris today
I'm okay what do you
think
yesterday pork fried rice every day
today
glosa we give your we give you HEB
name what do I do with all my utensils
do I have to take them to the mik where
do I take them is the rabbi going to
take it he's going to help me out how
much it's going to cost me
what do I do it do I need to do it the
same way as the B CH what do I
do
no when when you're going the same thing
as a when you go in the Mig and you dip
yourself you take all the utensils with
you and you dip them with them same
thing so so so I go in a mik as a
convert I'm bringing all my utensils
with me purifi the yeah you need a
pretty big mik no definitely they have
fa tell you take your car everything
with you okay you're not going to be the
you're not going to be the rabbi that
does the conversions anymore you fired
from the job tensils you have to take
I'm going to tell you something really
really amazing I say this something say
something interesting this is something
very very very interesting I guess you
can't purify
ital explains to us that a convert a
convert is higher level than a natural
born Jew
the
the no I'm sorry
not I
think says a convert is higher than a
natural born
Jew it's not uh
why because a Jew his soul was in Mount
s night it's saw saw all the Miracles
saw hashem's words hashem's words he saw
it in the sky man coming down food
coming from sh every day Hashem sounds
different amazing things every day a
pillow of fire a pillow of cloud people
need not needing to take any shower do
laundry for 40 years amazing amazing
amazing Miracles that we cannot even
fathom how big they were that Soul saw
it every day he saw the red the Sea Of
Reach split he saw the 10 plagues on
Egypt a major Empire that controlled the
entire world destroyed in an
instant he saw this this Soul that's in
this Jew saw all of these Miracles so of
course he's going to be Jewish of course
he's going to keep mitv he saw all of
this it's easy if I saw God of course I
keep all mitv the convert they didn't
see that he didn't see that he didn't
see the Miracles he chose to follow
hashem's way anyway without seeing all
the Miracles that's why he's bigger
that's why he's higher than a natural
born Jew and because he's so much bigger
because he's so much higher we mention
in before we
say we
say we say on the on the righteous
converts before we say ourselves to
bless them before
us and because of that the convert RAB
from the and many other places he wrote
it in
Al in his book
Al
um Z page
269 convert not only doesn't have to
take his things to the mik his utensils
to the mikve but when he goes or she
goes into the mikve she purifies or he
purifies the entire house
M the the of a
convert influences our surroundings
purified but that's
after no before before she's not she
she's still Christine she's not yeah but
she's trying to
all Christine goes into the mik she
comes out Sarah at that very moment our
entire house is kosher but that's not
possible but there's still bacon on
the
koshering and mik is not the physical is
for our eyes the real action is
spiritual the state of spirituality
changes yeah but that depend and again
of if she's going into the M she doesn't
have pork in her house that was just for
the purpose of giving you guys an
example
I'm
talking TR
to she's going through the process she
has to obviously keep koser throughout
her process but
uh she would still have to do the uh
take everything to uh if if is a process
she left that stuff let's say she ate
kosher only but she left and she gave
all that stuff to somebody else she gave
it to a Jew that Jew would have to put
them into the mik cuz she's still
non-jew or he's still non Jew the fact
that he ate kosher is nice but it still
doesn't do anything to the spirituality
of it so now the next part is this
Spoils of War what is the big biggest
benefit of War what is the reason people
go to
war
money
money why do we go to much money land is
money land you was want to land because
you want to say oh listen I own a island
in Tahiti no it's worth a lot of money
territory territory is money goes back
goes back to money what's what's
territory land in
Israel that's
money so
now the biggest benefit of war is The
Spoils of War what you get after the war
you get all the
money all the treasures all the
treasures so now we destroyed the
midianite nation
and to give us an understanding of
number one
the and two the size of the medite
nation how big they were that we beat
them the Torah comes here and tells us
about how am is giving
M remember we talked about M if someone
wants to be rich someone wants to be
rich in this life they have to give 10%
of their net income we talked about this
before it's the only thing you're
allowed to test Hashem you're not
allowed to test hasem by saying listen
Hashem If You Give Me A Sign I'm going
to keep Shabbat that you're not allowed
to do but if you say listen I'm going to
give 10% of my net income and as a
result you're going to make me Rich
it'll work why because hasem himself
says
it says do not test me anywhere else
except myself except the 10% so now is
giving he's giving so the um
each part of the tribes first Hashem
tells us that The Spoils of War 50% of
it goes to the people that actually went
to
war and the other 50% goes to the rest
of the
nation it gives you the numbers
details tells that you have to give the
uh
M why leim
because
they're the ones
right they're the ones that they
are they are the uh ones that have
dedicated their life not to war not to
money but to God who who the leim of our
of Our Generation what do we say a
couple of weeks ago
Tom who's who's the levy tribe of this
generation
no they're not who is the levy tribes of
this generation who the levy tribe theim
we know who theim is who is the ly Tri
who's the levy tribe of this generation
of this
generation how do we know someone's a l
or
not no no that's the Coen R says that
rambam says rambam from 900 years ago
the biggest Sage that we had in the last
Thousand Years says that
Levy tribe of his generation which
obviously means for the rest of
generations after him are the ones that
dedicate their life to learning that's
the levy tribe it's not because
someone's last name is just Levy someone
that's that's considered a leev
tribe is it possible that they were Levy
at one stage and they forgot of course a
lot of us don't know what we are you
could be in the gener you could be in
the seat of King David and be the next
mashia but you don't know
when you need to know is going to let
you
know thank you so now they giving
this they giving
it but then andem goes into the very
very
details of each one how much he gives
[Music]
he tells all the details
600,000 of this 72,000 of this and out
of that there's only uh 01 uh% left and
you given exact details of everything
they gave the exact numbers you're going
to read it on
Shabbat there's a page and a half here
that you would think is a waste but
that's you would think what what ISM
giving us the details they gave this
much and that much what I okay tell us
they gave stad they gave 10% that's
it you know we're finished what are you
give me the details they gave 600,000
and then 72,000 and out of the 600,000
they had 60 something left and what's
the details for what's obviously this is
a reason for this there's not even one
extra letter in the Torah that's wasted
there has to be a reason my
reason says when someone is average or
poor it's very easy for them to give m
someone makes $2,000 a month it's very
easy for them to give 200 bucks or if
out of the $2,000 they only have $500
profit let's say after they pay their
bills let's say they live in a very very
very cheap area cuz I don't know where
you could live in America for $2,000 but
let's say you live on
$2,000 your $500 net profit you get
$50 sale it's very easy to get $50 for
the guy that makes 500 bucks very easy
the guy makes $5,000 very easy to give
500 bucks very easy $1,000 also easy to
give $1,000 not for everybody but for
most people ,000 you're a Jew that means
you have a good heart that means you
have to have by the way you have there's
three signs of what makes someone a Jew
if someone doesn't have them you have to
question whether that person is a Jew
one of them is the um uh mercy and the
and the need the desire to give someone
that's not generous you the question
whether they're really Jewish or not
look into
seriously but what happens when that
same person that made $2,000 a
month now he
makes $300,000 a
month 500,000 a month a million
dollars is it just as easy to give
10% a million dollars give a 100,000
everyone that says yes didn't make1 ,000
a million dollars a
month I'm telling you from
experience very very difficult to give
10% when you're making
millions one of the experiences we had
in life was making a lot of money and I
can tell you 100% we gave a lot of money
but nowhere near
10% I used to think that I gave a lot of
money we did this we did that we're not
going to count my mitv or because it's
nowhere near my a in life but the point
I'm trying to make here is that when
you're making regular money very easily
give 10% you make $5 million a year
$500,000 to the rabbis $500,000 to K
that were you crazy okay I'll give him
50,000 fine
500,000 it's not even a thought unless
you have Tor in you with no Tor it's
virtually impossible because you don't
see the
reason so what do people give for the
people that have hundreds of millions of
dollars and you see them they gave 10
million to this one 5 million to that
one they're not giving it they're not
giving it to people learn to over there
who are they giving it to hospital
because it has their name on it
University because it has D name on it
that's what they story with by the way
this is the story about Le if somebody
know gave that's how he got
rich one of the richest if not the
richest uh Israeli uh
in go down everybody everybody lost
money he's the the only one or maybe uh
one of very few at least yes that's
Survivor the okay can't can't and that's
that's the thing when you have God in
you it's very easy to give when you
don't have God in you meaning not God
like you believe in God God meaning you
have the Tor as part of your life you're
living your life in accordance to God's
Tor when you're not living your life in
according to God's Torah it becomes very
very difficult to give give M it's very
difficult to give money big money and
this is exactly the reason why hasem
mentions every detail of what AM Isel
gave because they got billions upon
billions from this country they
conquered billions and billions how do
we know it's
billions because the very next
paragraph talks about
how the
leaders the leaders of Israel there was
leaders they came to MOS and they said
listen we
went I believe it was with 12,000 people
to L fight median and we came back all
of us came back no one got
hurt obviously this is an open Miracle
you don't go to war you have somebody
hurt you have somebody dead even today
is a modern technology people die you
know what are you going to do that's War
says all of us went to war to a bigger
nation More Money More this more that
more that and we destroyed all of them
and none of us got hurt obviously this
is
AEM because of that we want to do
something above and beyond what Hashem
requested us we're going to give you all
of this different gold and other things
and the K did a calculation of how much
gold they gave it ended up being a
little over 28,000 600 kilograms of
gold I took a little bit uh to calculate
it in today's market
28,6 42 kg of gold is about a million
ounces a little over a million ounces
with today's gold I think it's around
1,300 it's $1.3
billion $1.3 billion that's from 132
people how did they carry all those spos
took money from Egypt took gold forces
existed back then too I mean talk
enormous amounts each one and people
died people died so those people who
died gave it to their you know passed it
to their to the new generation yeah so
how very very rich how did they we had
millions of
people remember we had Millions it's not
like uh us 15 people it's you know
millions and millions of people so you
know they uh they also are very smart
tonight
and a lot more than Z they uh a lot of
cattle they had a lot of
trees so here's the thing here's the
lesson
here the lesson
here is that the significance
of how much how holy these people of
Israel were they gave this big amount of
above and beyond a lot already that they
already
gave because we constantly talk about
the sins that they made makes it seem
like was
evil they were very very holy people had
a big yet something that we can't even
fathom
but this leads to the next thing that we
have a problem with
today when you tell people that listen
am gave 1.3
billion immediately people like oh for
what or why oh yeah they had it so it's
easy for them you know you tell us to
say something like Bill Gates gave I
don't know I think like $30 billion
inaka not to he give it to science and
medicine but needless to say it's still
it's still considered a good deed
especially since he's not Jewish 30
billion yeah over $30 billion and he
also could him and his buddy Warren
Buffett convinced a bunch of other I
think maybe another 100 or 200 other
billionaires to give most of their money
and so on and so forth but the point is
that when you say that like yeah but he
has 70 billion so what's the big deal of
him giving 30 billion so the first thing
I can tell you is that whoever has money
loves money
meaning they don't want to give their
money
away they have it because they like it
so they want more of
it never
satisfy says you give someone 100 they
want 200 you want give them 200 they
want 400 a human nature will never stop
human nature will always want more one
of the things that uh it's someone needs
to work on in their life is to not like
money very hard to do but uh it's a uh
it's one one of the things that you see
some of the most righteous people in
history they were haters of money in
order for the leaders of Israel to be
chosen by Moshe when uh when Jethro told
him to pick certain leaders one of the
qualifications was haters of
money so they people that hated
money H so they wouldn't be bribed
right so now you tell somebody givea
give this give that and it's very
becomes very very difficult the
conversation changes with
people on the other
hand there's a very famous saying
says
right will save from Death save a person
from Death what does that
mean the easy the simple
translation is that if someone was
supposed to die
can
technically stop it save save him from
being from getting the death
penalty the deeper meaning of
it is that when someone gives when a
rich man gives a poor man one has money
one doesn't have
money who's doing who a
favor based on hem has told us in the
Torah when the rich man gives the poor
man money it's the poor man that's doing
the rich man the favor have to go to to
Jew you can give money to other non-jews
but uh the first choice always has to be
a Jew Jew and especially a Jew that is
either learning tah as as a fulltime or
someone that does K like rabbis
specifically focus on uh helping Jews do
CH those are the two main things why
because one is saving the world in
essence by learning to lie and the other
one is saving souls and not for those
that standing in the traic lights yeah
not people not not not people that are
just very famous but don't really do
much they they have a law now they just
passed they don't want especially in
Palm
Beach not uh doing that
anymore back to our point now if you
tell if if a poor person comes to a rich
person and he says listen I need some
financial help help me out give me I
don't know a few thousand a few million
dollars whatever he
wants and he tells him I'll do you a
favor and I'll take your money what do
you think the rich guys going to say get
out of my office get
lost but in
reality in
reality the poor man that's taking the
money is doing the rich man of
favor and the rich man has to actually
have Theo
to want to give the poor man the money
meaning that just because he's rich and
just because the poor man came in front
of him and asked for money if hasem
doesn't want the rich man to get the
benefit of doing the Mitzvah of giving
because he's a complete R he's a
complete evil hater of hem even though
the money doesn't mean much to him
Hashem will give him a design not to
give that person the money to stop him
from doing it because he doesn't want
him to save be saved from Death it's one
of the biggest sins one of the biggest
uh uh punishments the other thing is is
that when someone is taking
money
as they literally could be saving that
person's life at that moment
meaning that if let's say for example
when someone is helping at someone is
helping
at people are learning to all the time
he's giving the money every month and
you don't want to ask of how much
problems we have in Israel right now and
people are learning tah people people
don't have food to eat and on top of
that there there's more cutbacks and so
on it's a real disaster as far as how
people are difficult with money when you
hear the stories it m breaks your
heart but when a person is righteous and
gives those people
money he may be thinking oh I'm doing a
mitzvah
this will go up every day I'm going to
get aah for giving to
learn what he may not realize is the
fact that he gave him money is the only
reason why he's still alive at that
moment meaning that the moment he stops
giving him money his life ends and
there's a few stories of people that
there's actually one story of a uh I
forget his name but
um a person was actually a big sadik
that had a rich person that financed him
he said this is the person I don't know
if he was a cabalist or not he said this
person is my uh you know he's he's been
helping me for all these years uh with
money but I've been keeping him
alive and the minute the guy died the
sadik died shortly like within a matter
of like a few uh few days or something
like that the other guy
died meaning the Divinity had nothing no
one to give to he fulfilled his
purpose so when when someone is
collecting remember first of all he's
doing you a
favor second of all he could be actually
there could be a decree in shim that you
did something even if you don't know
that you did it or you do know you did
it that could be
decreed to get a death penalty and
that's the car could literally save your
life at that moment but the guy that
save the money have to to do uh actually
it's the C with the money no meaning
what meaning if if I give to somebody
money yeah the
yeah you need to do um he needs to be an
honest person not a thief yes he need to
do something good with the money yes if
he if he's going and he goes to uh Las
Vegas with the money he's aash then that
also means that hasem doesn't want you
to have the scoot that's actually
another form of of
punishment the outcome of your of your
the outcome of your is also a form of
reward or punishment yeah because
there's endless reward for someone that
gives there an amazing amount of reward
that someone that gives to someone
that's learning and doing but at the
same
token some people don't deserve that
reward some people they're evil in a
million other ways or they sto stole the
money they overcharged people or things
like that and then they say listen I
stole like made off made
off he uh stole I don't know know many
billions that he stole but he gave a lot
of St
up that's a account that he gave stolen
money no what I'm saying so what happens
if those people got benefit from
his like the people who received
this that's the uh what hasem decides is
going to happen with that but the main
thing I can tell you is that the usually
the of people like that doesn't have a
good outcome doesn't go to the right
places it's another form of punishment
Hashem is just Hashem is always just
he's always going to make sure that
certain things happen in certain way so
for example someone that works on
Shabbat Hashem is going to make sure
that the money they make on Shabbat
they're going to spend it on really bad
things whether it be bills or hospital
bills or car fixing or different things
like that
where you're making or Casino or loans
that never come back and things like
that so it's a hasem is just and his
ways are just and that's one of the
things we have to understand is that he
has a certain order to the world so
first we learn that is a big mitvah
second of all we learned that
technically that the poor person that's
giving that's to is doing you a favor
and third of all we need to know one of
the Prophecies of the days of mashia
this is
also this
is
97b so it's saying one of the
signs giant
Sage countless Miracles are spoken about
him in the Torah that we learned from
him he says you know the Messiah comes
from the seed of David
so meaning the m is not going to
come meaning until everyone's broke wow
it's complete famine no one has any
money
who it's happened many
times if you
read a day that's coming up in U less
than two weeks
you're not allowed to learn T because T
creates Joy with the
exception of the sad parts of the tah so
things like the Book of
Job or
mik or different parts of the Prophecies
of the end of times things that are
miserable things that are sad things
like the destructions of the bet mikdash
the first one or the second one I
actually have a book about the
destruction of both of them if anyone
wants to read it uh it's guaranteed to
make you
depressed but it's also guaranteed to
teach you what's possible and to wake
you up it's very very very difficult
read I read it
on and it's a very difficult read but
like you said when you ask the question
how is it possible the were Empires with
much more power than America much much
more power than America CU America right
now is the most powerful in the
world much more powerful that were
crushed to a point where people had to
become
cannibals in order to survive and eat
their own
children people had to eat their own
kids in order to
survive this is not this is actually in
the written to in the tanak it's one of
the
prophecies so as far as how is it
possible it's happened several
times why is this related
to because like I said number one the
poor man is doing you a
favor number two he's saving your life
number three you're not going to have
the money for that long anyway at least
do something with it
what do you think you're going to uh the
next World with your1 million or your
million dollars or your
$100,000 think you're taking your money
with you mashia comes tomorrow you think
your money is going to count for
anything this is not just for us this is
for ourselves but this is also for
anybody that's watching this especially
if they have money or they have access
to money they know somebody with money
people need to understand the treatment
people have towards money is outright
Idol work
worship I'm not going to mention any
names and if anybody knows this name
please don't mention
it I spoke to
somebody about bringing a
rabbi very big Rabbi to the
community to a
community and I told them uh listen
this Rabbi was
here worldwide giant Rabbi everyone
knows who he is people speak English
don't speak English even people don't
understand where he says know who he is
big Rabbi giant it's helped a lot of
people including
myself so you want to have him this year
he because no no listen it's great Rabbi
no question but uh when they were here
last time they pulled a move on
us I asked what do you mean they pulled
a move on us what does that mean pulled
the move on us he says to me yeah after
he finished the sh they raised money
they raised $40,000 from our K why would
I want them to come raise 40,000 from
oura let us uh keep it for ourselves for
the give it to the
besset with a leader like
that that specific this is not from the
to saying it just but this is from me
saying it from a business
perspective I wish I knew as much to as
I know business with a business
perspective if you ever have a leader
that believes that there's a limit in
the world meaning there's a limited
amount of money a limited amount of
customers and a limited amount of
potential it's guaranteed to
fail it's guaranteed to eventually
collapse anyone that wants to be rich if
you ever want to get let's say for
example business coaching anyone that's
a good coach will give you this advice
if they don't I will if you ever want to
be rich there's a certain part of it
that requires a mindset
change one of the things that's required
for success in anything especially
monetary success is to change your
mindset about what you think is a lot of
money because you will make
approximately 60% of what you think is a
lot if you think $100,000 a year is a
lot your maximum potential is $60,000
you will never make above $60,000 from
your own ability obviously Hashem
decides but as far as human nature and
how that works you will not make as much
as you think is a lot if you think a
million dollars a year is a lot your
maximum potential is
$600,000 am high so but Aiming High is
one part of the argument believing you
can do it is a different part when
someone believes that there's a limited
amount of money in the world to get a
limited amount of customers limited
amount of opportunity in the
world that means that they feel like if
I open a jewelry store here and he open
a jewelry store here that means that
we're splitting the business 50/50 or
any business that he gets I'm losing
that's not only a wrong mentality for
business but that's outright that
outright is telling AEM that you don't
believe the from
sh so it's not only bad for business
it's also bad for the toah life
but when that person is a
leader and he's responsible for the
benefit of the public and he has that
mentality where he thinks that there's a
limited amount of that the can
handle then he's limiting the kila's
growth he's limiting the kila's
potential and unfortunately he's putting
the Kila in a situation where they can
never grow so first of all my response
was I didn't know that you think I maybe
said it in a different way I'm a little
bit more abrupt at times but I didn't
know that you think that rabbis live off
of man because that was only in a desert
hasm gave us man from sham and that's
that's how we lived but it's last I
checked M doesn't come down to anybody
including rabbis so a rabbi comes from a
different country nonetheless to AA he's
not coming because of your good looks
he's coming because he's trying to do K
but also raise money that's what rabis
rabbis come they don't come because they
just like you they need money to eat to
help people to help to help to help
people that are about to have abortions
to help people that you know to not have
the abortions so they could you know
have the kid and not murder
him to help people that are you know
they need to uh um get them away from
Arab boyfriends that have stolen them
and and and from their families to help
all of these people to help the tan to
help
Judaism they need money for this stuff
to have a TV station in Israel cost
somewhere in a neighborhood of almost a
million dollars a day
wow when you have a station like which
is 24 hours a day worth
of 24 hours a day we you think it's
cheap it comes from hasem is sending
them M he's depositing into their bank
account by itself yeah people need to
raise money so only a fool would say
that what do you mean they they pulled a
move on us they uh raised money that's
what they do they need to live the fact
that you have
money is your benefit that you could do
something with it because according to
kazal it's only a matter of time but
your money is not going to be worth
anything because when a mashiah comes
everyone's money is going to be
worthless
and that's one of the things we have to
understand so to give what you really
have to understand to give money to
people like
that what you're doing is not just a
Mitzvah it's not just saving your own
soul it's not just saving your own life
you're getting rid of the garbage
because that's what money is it's
outright
garbage it buys convenience
at
best but it turns families into enemies
it turns friends into enemies and it
does a lot more bad than it does good if
you treat it like it's
garbage it will be much easier for you
to use it for something good you could
recycle the garbage and make something
beautiful out of it if you treat it like
an
idol you'll become a RHA like the people
that are stamped on it
and that's what we have to understand
about money and and all of those things
because when it comes to listen I need
to buy a
car add navigation system $3,000 okay
yeah no problem add chrome wheels
another $5,000 no problem add this add
that all those things they cost money
right the guy that's buying the car
doesn't care I'm not saying this
specifically because a couple of car
Styles in here I'm just saying this
because a good example
but when you tell that same guy that's
just spent 60 70 80 $100,000 on the
car with features that cost $5,000 that
he's never going to use you tell that
same guy listen Rabbi is coming to town
we need we're trying to raise $5,000
what can you do ah let me see hold on
say I got 20
bucks but you just spend 5,000 on a
navigation system you can get for free
from your phone
you just spent 5gs just to have
something look good and it's fun it's
convenient and it's nice but it's $5,000
there's a rabbi that could help people
and save people and eat
maybe you give him
$20
$20 and that's the difference guys that
person is treating money like an
idol because it's so important to him he
doesn't want to get rid of it
why would you want to get rid of
something you
like he's talking about
five he always he always gets the the
the the the stuff that's uh completely
not relevant to the story he's talking
about the navigation system right
now God
bless time of the Mia how are we
actually going to survive on like food
that well there's a few
uh different times as far as mashia is
concerned
there's the uh there's the war
before after the war or during the war
there's going to be uh 15 days of
darkness like the plague that we had in
Egypt of darkness is going to be 15 days
of that when a lot of people are going
to die also
War once the mhia comes it's relevant to
the entire world is this before he comes
or after he comes I believe it's after
after it's
after after Darkness after he comes m is
going to be one the one leading the
W you with me Tom not
after okay so the
um they say some say that after the war
and
the lot of death approximately two-third
of the world will die instantly ly
during the war according to the the war
will last 9
Minutes wow
um 23 of the world will die instantly
and uh because they
um they're not they're not they weren't
righteous the third that's left will uh
some of them will be righteous very
righteous some of them will be tested
meaning that not all of them will
survive
um so to even be part of the Third you
have to be a certain amount of
righteousness and they'll have to make a
choice there's going to be a very big
difficulty as far as passing the test
it's not going to be an easy test uh But
after those days and there's much more
details uh that I'm skipping over some
say that the world will go back to some
extent to its
natural ways where there's not going to
be War there's not going to be need for
weapons but there still will be some
type of Commerce meaning you're still
going to have to eat and buy stuff from
a store and stuff like that uh some say
that uh it it won't be that way be very
very
different what one thing we do know for
sure is that we're only going to know
for sure when it
happens so as far as
the last part of this this I U this is
still my thought I know it's going to
take a while to just cover this one we
didn't cover the second par
but the last part of this par is the
uh argument
between the tribe of
ruven
God versus
mosu the tribe of ruven and God come to
mosu they say listen before we cross the
border and go to the nation of Israel
and you know we're going to have to go
to war because there's people there's
people there the Canaanites are living
there
before we do that can we
um we see that there's a bunch of land
on the other side of the river can we be
gifted this part of the land and give
our share to the other tribes you know
split the share in Israel to them but
our share give us this stuff and um who
are you talking about the Giants no no
I'm talking about the tribes of ruven in
Israel and the tribes of wanted land
outside of Israel they wanted to land
outside the other side of Israel the
other side of the
river because they said listen we have a
lot of money what is money in those days
money is not just gold money is cattle
livestock they have a lot of sheep cows
and an extraordinary
amount say in this land over here
gold on the East Bank of Jordan is a uh
perfect for um for the for the for the
livestock
so let us let us stay over
here and build a place for our
cattle and our
children so Melle gets very very
angry he says your forefather your
father's in the previous generation did
the same thing that you're doing they
came to me and they uh they were the
spies that we sent remember a couple
weeks ago we had the spies that came to
Israel and they spoke badly about Israel
and they convinced all the people that
it's not good to go to Israel are you
doing the same thing right now aren't
you doing the same thing right now that
by you saying that you don't want to go
into
Israel aren't you doing the same thing
you're speaking back about Israel Hashem
almost destroyed all of us we had to
suffer in the desert for 40 years
because of that are you doing the same
thing and what are you doing it for
because you don't want to go to war with
us you don't want to help us out instead
you worry about your money you're
worrying about your
cattle there's a problem
here so then they say no no no no you
you know you're misunderstanding us
we're going to be willing to be the
first ones in line to go to war and help
and we're going to go to war for as long
as it takes and we're even willing to
stay with
you until you divide the land
but after you divide the land the war is
over we'll go back to our area over
here so M says okay now that he
understands if that's what you're going
to do that's what you promise to do
fine but kazal says
that in reality to some extent mosu was
right for being
angry because in reality they were
really worried about their money
how do we know they're worried about
their
money in the verse
itself it says
in so many words they're saying they
approached M and they said we need the
Pence for our flocks shall we build for
our livestock and cities for our
children so first they're saying we're
going to build a place for our livestock
and after that we're going to build
something for our
children so their money their their
cattle they worry about it more than
they worry about their own children
so after
mosenu rebukes
them they say to uh they they obviously
understand the
point and when they respond the children
of God and the children of ruen says say
to Moses saying your servant shall do as
my Lord commands our small children our
wives our livestock and all of our
animals will be there in cities in the
Gilead so they fixed it before they took
they were worried about their livestock
and then their children but then they
realized that they have to take care of
their families first and you know their
money last and that's one of the main
most important lessons that I think we
can learn about
today is that the importance of money is
obvious obviously people need to live
money you know need money to live I'm
not saying that uh you know we're at a
level like the uh nation of Israel in
the wilderness in the desert that's
going to live off of M
but at the same token there's a certain
level of importance that one has to have
to something that's technically
unimportant meaning that if someone
believes that Pai is really from
sh if someone really believes that hem
is the one that
dictates how much you're going to have
on
R
decides how much you're going to get
whether you work 8 hours a day or 24
hours a day a hm decides at that moment
how much you're going to make it doesn't
matter how much you work your work is
completely
irrelevant if someone believes and lives
their life in accordance to
that it becomes much easier to live a
life in accordance to AEM by spending
some time to learn to spending some time
to teach the family some to spending
that money that you make and giving the
right amounts
of
and becomes much much easier because
you're not worshiping the money it's not
an idol to you it's not something that's
really a big
deal there was a person by name ofon Ben
gulon I told you about him uh not too
long ago he was one of the three people
that during that very time that we spoke
about before where it was a disaster and
the Romans
surrounded the nation of Israel
they
um didn't let us out
so
and three richest people in
Israel were financing all of Israel
financing all of the people of Israel
for three
years so he gave a lot
of one day
ran sees a
woman looking
through the waist of a donkey or
horse he says what are you doing ma'am
what are you
doing he's looking through the through
her
waist and he says what are you doing and
then she turns around and uh she says
I'm looking for
food I'm looking for food looking to see
in one of the grains maybe he didn't
digest one of the grains I want to eat
it and then he sees her face he goes who
are you and she goes I'm Ben's
daughter he says how is this possible
your
father he gave a lot
of how is it possible that you're you're
at this level that you're worse than a
homeless he says he gave Sak but he
didn't give
enough he gave millions and millions but
relative to what he was supposed to give
he didn't give
enough and that's one of the things we
have to understand about
money when you understand that it comes
from
sham much easier to give more than
enough because you look at it as just
material it's
nothing when you see it as anything more
than that it'll be impossible for you to
give because the is just too
big will
help us all be
bigger have
bigger and that from him continue to get
closer to him we see each other on
Shabbat when we have our
