Today we're sitting down with Rabbi
Rabbi Daniel Sharratt. He oversees
hundreds of plants and is an expert
in the halacha and science of produce.
When are bugs actually an issue in produce?
This is probably one of the most
contentious points in halacha.
Triple wash. People say, "Oh,
if it's doesn't have hashgacha,
but if it's triple washed,
it's fine." Is that true?
Make no mistake, my friend, these items
can have bugs. Oftentimes, I actually
go to the triple-washed produce when I give bug
demonstrations, because I know they're in there.
For every one person in the world, there's
approximately 300 million insects. Aside from
giving me job security for all the bugs in the
world, it does give me a little chizuk as well.
