my name is Rabbi David fine and I am the uh chair of the adult education committee here at kilak the that you're in so for those of you who are visitors welcome to modin uh Welcome to our and uh we're glad that we're all together here for a night of being inspired by some very important Torah teachers in our midst and we're very much looking to learning together and being inspired as we uh Embark upon the journey uh to Rosa shanan and Yom Kor um before I introduce uh Ro soel who will kick off the evening I just want to take a personal privilege and thank number one Rabbi Sam sha who um it's just been a pleasure to work with we've really become close friends because of this and I thank you okay it's also um a really a privilege to have RAV Hashi and kavi weinreb here um personally uh we met many many years ago in Milwaukee Wisconsin it's a story for a different time but uh it's always good to have you and to see you and to be uh with you and lastly um I really want to thank um my dear friend uh and really the person who's responsible mostly responsible for this these programs happening the OU programs happening in ouru and that is Daniela helstein I don't know if she's here but thank you very much Daniela so we know uh that according to our tradition we uh learn we read parim before rashash Shana right we read the clout and but we want to be done with that before we want to be done with that before the beginning of the year but before the beginning of the year we want to be reminded that you are all standing you're all standing United uh together as one people to uh receive once again uh the Torah and that emphasis on K of all of us standing there and gathered together to Embark upon receiving the Torah once again is a clear uh message of this evening and anytime really that we gather uh to learn Torah the the unity the togetherness is especially critical uh this year as we um as we continue to deal with uh the terrible effects uh that the war which began on simat Tor continues uh to have uh so I just uh want to say that um for me personally and I think for any member uh of this sh who's sitting here or those who are not sitting here um we would not have want to be led by any other person other than our dear Rabbi and my dear friend R schlomo Soo um there are almost I think 200im in this sh and um I don't think it's any uh by accident that if you look at the Jewish action OU magazine outside that the article on the front lines with RAB shos Soo that the article about halakic uh questions that were asked by uh soldiers uh that our Rabbi was the one who was featured uh in this magazine he's been a steady inspiring uh teacher and leader and um it's really my honor to call him up tonight armara deatra of schomo [Applause] Soo Shalom welcome I'll try to share with you a few words in English so in advance I apologize you know when I was in in Detroit so I in the in the beginning I really was embarrassed about my English and we have etinger that he he was there so but one of the people there really he want me to be happy he wanted me to be happy so he told me you know your English not so great but but we we are more we are more said that our Hebrew is not so great so if you have to know what is more important English or Hebrew so you can be happy that at least your Hebrew is okay so so there can there is something about what he said all right so so now first of all I want to to thank a few people to thank like ra that he the head of everything that happened here and the second year and H we we really really appreciate and H we really appreciate it that you that you decided to choose in our Sho to be part of the OU program and especially we want to thank Daniela you know I don't want I don't need to talk about Daniel look in these signs and look at the food and you understand that not only men prepare this uh this evening can like also by the way the sh that you see all the designer is danela so TOA about the Torah and about also the the everything that is so organized and everything is so nice it is tor very nice Torah and also in CLE in a nice CLE this is the ideal not only the spiritual world not only the physical world the combination between the these two worlds and thank you to reab in and thank you to zimra and thank you to Sam and to KH and to all staff of the of the OU and thank you to my dear friend Rabbi find that the head of the of the V and to and toon and toi everyone thank God we have many here in this room that you you're going to hear their Torah and I'm sorry if I miss someone and um so I want to share with you short idea that I think you know we all here this evening in order to learn Torah okay we believe that Torah this is the strength of am Israel we believe that when we learn Torah here we strengthens our soldiers we be going to cause theim to come quicker we by our Torah that we learn we're going to cause the the the the to We believe that the that the power of Torah this is the mid tells Usos looked at the Torah and then he created the world so the Torah is the order of the world the Torah it was caused the the world to be better and not everyone fortunately understand it but thank God the people who sit here this evening H they are understand they understand it and [Music] can and I and I want to to share some idea that RAB says that the ideal is not only to learn Torah you know intellectual Torah the ideal is that the Torah that we learn going to come to our life going to change our life okay he says that the the if we can say the biggest joy of aadh the highest level of Joy of a is when a person is learning Torah and then he has a to that the Torah that he learn he will be able to fulfill it in in his life in her life and this when say that this is the Torah that we learn not only that we enjoy from a nice lecture or sh no that we try to take this sh to our life this is really what aosh want from us so I want to wish everyone here that that come this night in order to learn Tor every sh that you're going to hear tonight to try to think after the sh to take one minute even and to think what I can take from the Shure that I just heard the wonderful sh that I just heard what I can I can take to my life how I can be better husband better wife I my my could be better how can I be M more about mitv every sh with a different topic but to think about every sh what can I take it to to our life that's I think going to be amazing and I think that this is also our in it's not just a days of a inspiration and to be you know to be in a high for a day or two or three day the is the beginning of the year is to try to to to take from the everything that we can take how our life will be in a higher level than the previous year and this year wow we need it we so need it again we need we need aem's help we need we need we need so many things from Hashem every year it's right but in this year in this moment our kids fighting now so we we the minimum that we can give them back is that we learning Torah thank God this night and also we're going to take the Torah to our life soem will be be a great night this night and a night of inspiration night that that we're going to learn many new things and and even think that we know that we be able to internalize to take it to to our heart this is the reason you know the the what I say now is really the the mission is to take to take a the thing from the brain from the and bring him to the heart okay not only to know the not only to enjoy intellectually the thing but to take what we learn to our heart and we know that we have the the neck between our brain and our heart and the neck is narrow again the you know the lfac they not only that the neck is narrow they also put a tie to to okay that is even narrower but the point is to open the neck okay the point is to to let the thing go through the neck to the heart it's not easy it's not easy like I say physically even the neck is narrow and it's hard to take things from the brain to the heart but this is the mission okay this is our mission in life life is not easy always like we know but H I think this is number one Mission and to do everything for Kal is everything that we are doing to think every few moment every you that to think what I learning now what I take from the sh everything that that I do this night for is okay we are all servants to Isel like used to sign his letters always I am a servant of a holy nation in the holy land so this what we all need to try to to be and to do so again to to everyone I I mention RAB etinger from Detroit but he also one of the people who organize this this evening and we all both to to to Great ear and I remember last year I I stood in the same place and we never we never never dream and thought that we going to have this kind of a year but we got it and after we got it we have to do our best to to help the Redemption of [Music]
