hi this is Barry Weber welcome to the
late parsha show are you starting to get
cold where I am but where abraham was
sitting right outside his tent the Sun
was beating down and it was hot it was
three days after Abraham had his
circumcision and God allowed the Sun to
shine full force the overbearing Heat
would keep travelers off the road so
that the ninety nine year old Abraham
would be able to recover in peace and
wouldn't be bothered with hosting
passerby God appeared to Abraham in
order to visit him
thus performing his Mitzvah of visiting
those who are unwell but the wound in
his flesh wasn't the only thing hurting
Abraham the son was causing him pain as
well yeah man
didn't you say it was like really hot
out there what was he doing outside
unless he was playing a good game of
bball yeah of course
certainly our ninety nine year old
forefather Abraham right after having a
circumcision was outside playing bball
yeah being that the Sun was burning hot
and there were no travelers on the road
abraham was pained at the lack of
opportunity to have guests so God sent
angels in the form of men to walk by
Abraham noticed them and ran towards
them yes he was just in the middle of
experiencing a revelation of God and he
put that on hold to take care of
something else
what did it - yeah I never mind it's not
exactly what it sounds like let me just
tell you that it's early in the morning
and I haven't yet gone to bed I honestly
don't remember the last time that it
took me so many hours to work on what to
say in the late partial show but
eventually there comes a point in the
morning where your head just stops
working and I want to make myself a
coffee and I spilled it everywhere and I
cleaned it up tried to make another
coffee but on the way I slipped in the
coffee that I thought I cleaned up I
decided to scratch whatever took so long
to work on and just say this very simple
lesson that we could learn from Abraham
our forefather every single Mitzvah is
an opportunity as we know the word
Mitzvah which means commandment comes
from the word Jaffa which means
connection and bond when we fulfill one
of
Commandments we and God unite in the
most unimaginable and indescribable
perfect union and bond the most intimate
connection possible to the point that
Abraham left God Himself aside to go to
a mitzvah like a revelation of godliness
is the date but the Mitzvah is the
marriage and if you could skip the
dating and jump right into marriage then
go to that actually never mind but you
get what it means in this context make
sure you look at every single Mitzvah as
an opportunity although a mitzvah may be
tough or you may just not be in the mood
it's not a burden it's an opportunity
and it's an opportunity that will never
present itself again because maybe
you'll have another chance to do that
Mitzvah but you'll never have that
moment that second where you could have
been one with God very soon when Messiah
will be revealed to all the inner
essence of a mitzvah will be as well we
will look back at our days in exile and
see all of our accomplishments and
missed opportunities right now there's
an extremely unique Mitzvah that is
incumbent on every single individual and
that is to demand a revelation of God
and may we see the physical effect of
this Mitzvah with Messiah now
