It's Wednesday, Parshas Nitzavim
Vayeilech, Chof Elul Tof Shin Pei Vov.
And my name is Gershon Wortsman, your
host on Edge, September 2nd, 2026.
On Edge, your daily report of the news
of the last 24 hours, powered by Yiddish
24, provided to you by The Click.
Well, what can I tell you?
Trump is basically
controlling the waters. First, he wants
the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America,
then it's Lake Ontario to Lake America.
And today he says, "Well,
the Strait of Hormuz, we have control of
it, mostly. Might as well call it the
Trump Strait. Make the Strait of Hormuz
Trump again."
>> [laughter]
>> Okay, American forces strike about 100
targets in a direct answer to the
Iranian attacks on the cargo ships two
days ago. A nationwide water shortage is
forcing cities across Israel to drop
water pressure and cut services for
thousands of people. And a push to make
daylight saving time last
all year long has stopped in the Senate
following a major pushback. Obviously,
but first, let's talk about your
Heritage Credit Solutions. Is bad credit
holding you back?
Maybe you're trying to get a credit
card, mortgage, car loan, but your
credit history is getting in the way.
My sponsor of today is Heritage Credit
Solution, and they say that they want to
help. They actually do the credit repair
themselves, working to remove negative
items from your credit report with
results in as little as three to seven
business days. They also report a 100%
success rate with bankruptcy removal,
and they are transparent from day one
with personal guidance throughout the
process. And here is the chiddush. They
say that they can help you get a car
loan rolled in even with bad credit,
with no money [music] down. Call them,
text them, WhatsApp them, find out for
yourself.
Any claim that I tell you they make,
find out for yourself. 929-920-8677.

Starting in the Middle East, okay.
President Donald J. Trump approved a new
plan to hit Iranian ships. This is an
answer to the attacks on cargo ships.
The US military
used drones to fire missiles into the
engine rooms of two Iranian government
oil ships. The ships were parked just
north of the American warships blocking
the area near the coast of Iran.
Now, American forces also hit about 100
other targets. The incident
This included radar systems and machines
that uh launched drones, like, you know,
drone launchers across the actual
country. The White House says
that this was a direct answer to Iranian
attacks on the ships and American uh
military bases that happened 2 days ago.
A US official said the strikes destroyed
Iranian weapons. The official said,
"This means cargo ships are safer for at
least a month now."
The Iranian Red Crescent claims that
parts of an American missile hit a house
uh
during a wedding a wedding in
a regular citizen wedding in southern
Iran.
They say that five people were killed,
including a child and over 50 others
were hurt. The US military answered by
saying, "Well, they only hit targets and
never aim at regular people. They only
hit military targets, excuse me, and
never hit regular people." The IRGC
fired dozens of drones of heavy heavy
missiles and drones at American bases in
Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Iraq.
Um
in Jordan, the military shot down 10 out
of 13 heavy missiles and the other three
landed in empty areas. No Nobody was
injured on the American or Jordanian
side. President Trump posted on Truth
Social after the strikes. He said the
following. He said, "I like our position
right now much better." He says,
"America almost has complete control of
the Hormuz Strait, like he says." He
also says, "Iran's economy is totally
falling apart." He also warned that if
Iran keeps making things worse, there
will be um very little left of the
country, he says. Now to Lebanon. The
military uh Israeli military struck
southern Lebanon on Wednesday. That was
yesterday. They hit, and, uh, sorry,
Wednesday this morning. On Wednesday
because their time, local time, is
different now. So, it's really, they're
saying Wednesday for the next,
they hit an area where Hezbollah uh,
commanders are trapped in an underground
tunnel. The strikes hit the Al, the Ali
Al-Taher Ridge. Mentioned it several
times already. They also hit, uh, nearby
areas of Kfar Ramman and, uh, um,
Nabatieh Al-Fawqa, Al-Al-Fawqa,
Al-Fawqa, something, something like
that. Anyway,
names pronunciations, not my thing this
morning. Anyway, earlier this morning, a
drone crossed from Lebanon into northern
Israel. Sirens went off in the area. The
military shot down the drone, and nobody
was hurt. Remem, uh, remember we
reported here the new construction
happening in the West Bank? Okay. So,
Israel is threatening to act against the
United Kingdom if the British government
goes ahead with new sanctions over
building plans.
UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband
announces, announced, excuse me, a
complete change of British policy on
Israel.
>> [snorts]
>> He's looking for ways to stop com-
companies from paying
uh, building, or advertising, uh, new
construction in the West Bank. Any UK
company takes part of it, he's trying
that. This happened after Israel start,
uh, started the process last month to
build 1,200 new homes in the E1 area
near Jerusalem. Miliband says the
building acrosses, uh, crosses a red
line by splitting
the West Bank in two. Israeli Foreign
Minister Gideon Sa'ar said that UK will
be making a big mistake if it moves
forward with the change. He said Israel
will act against, um, Britain if Britain
acts against Israel.
Anyway, and that's happening. Another
thing happening in Israel, a nationwide
water short, shortage is forcing cities
across Israel to drop water pressure and
cut services.
Residents in Beersheba are already
reporting shutoffs. Officials warn that
Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, and Ma'ale
Adumim regional council and give a time
could be next. The shortage is happening
because five out of six desalination
plants desalination plants that clean
salt water, you know, ocean water into
drinking water closed down. Well, Israel
has more advanced systems that actually
turn waste water
and you know, into into drinkable water.
They say that the reason they had to
shut off these plants that clean water
of the clean water is because there is
there's an unusual high concentration of
microalgae. Microalgae is small enough
to go through the filters and can
basically break them. So, reports say
that
part of national water system system
will therefore be down for at least a
few days. The state was forced to
activate its entire natural water
reserve system pumping heavily from the
Sea of Galilee and underground um
aquifers
to cover about 90% of the normal summer
demand. So, there you have it. Let's
talk about the next thing.
Aquifers
uh well, you know, underground layers of
of rock, sand, or gravel that absorbs,
store, and transmit ground water um if
you must. All right, Kosher Skinny Shot.
So, um you know, when it comes to losing
weight, many of you have already told me
and I've spoken to a lot of you that uh
there is many companies, right? Many
different type of shots that you can
also take and uh obviously now seniors
can uh get it for free with Medicaid.
There's different services obviously
offered out there for this very very
thing that you want to, you know, lose
weight.
The only issue I see with this is that
um to be honest with you, just speaking,
you know,
heart to heart, you know, I know people
some of you go through this and they
want to actually lose weight. There's a
lot you have to do. Besides taking the
shots, you have to do exercise, you have
to drink water. Now, here's the thing.
There's more than that. There's a lot
more things that you have to do. You
need guidance. You need special guidance
and professional guidance by people who
know what they're doing.
>> [music]
>> There is a company called Kosher Skinny
Shot. They're not just here to take
advantage of you, they're here to
actually help. This is what they do.
Companies like this usually are just not
self-made. They're made because they see
that there's a lack and they realize how
many people are struggling
>> [music]
>> with this actual need, which is guidance
when it takes when it comes to taking
the shots.
And especially the risks and all the
other health and medical history that
you need to check for and
you know, when it comes to these things,
you have to be very careful. Kosher
SkinnyShot is there for you. They guide
you through every step of the way. Reb
[ __ ] Zalman with the with you know,
with the help of Hashem, they've put
together a team, doctors, professionals
who understand and they actually are
there for you. Every stupid question you

Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir
Putin ordered his ordered
his his military to launch massive
strikes against Ukrainian power plants
and electricity lines.
Putin says, "Well, this is a direct
answer to attacks on Russia's on Russian
power systems."
And you get punishment.
You heard what he said.
If you understand Russian, he warned
that any foreign military base inside
Ukraine, including British sites, will
be treated as fair targets. When asked
by reporters if military sites inside
the United Kingdom itself could become
targets, Putin answered, "Well, that is
a military secret." On the ground,
Russian forces are moving forward in the
Donetsk area. They have surrounded some
Ukrainian troops. Putin says that Russia
is not aiming at the Ukrainian leaders
right now. He said the leaders have
protection because Moscow needs someone
to talk well, talk to if they want
peace. Interesting. Last month, a drone
carrying explosives was discovered close
to the Ukrainian cargo planes at Leipzig
Airport in Germany.
I think this was last month the story
that we actually reported here on it.
Those of you remember, right? Now,
the drone that had failed that had
failed to explode due to a faulty
detonator. You remember, right? A second
drone was discovered to have collided
with another cargo plane, while a third
drone was discovered near the airport 10
days later. A new report now says that
Germany
was
was responsible for the attempted drone
attack at the airport in the end. They
thought first it was Russia. So,
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
posted this morning.
He said his meeting with the Germany to
discuss a new air defense package
um was basically discussed, I guess.
They're going to sign one. Meanwhile,
Germany is also lobbying that the EU
should place more sanctions on Russia.
Next,
Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived
in Egypt. This is his first visit to the
country in 10 years. His meeting is with
Egyptian leaders to talk about new
military and economic deals and ties.
China is looking to invest money in the
Suez Canal business zone. They're also
pushing for
um Huawei, which is a
a
Huawei, sorry. Huawei, which is the
Chinese, excuse me, tele technology I
told you, pronunciations today is not my
thing for these names.
Okay, Huawei, even though it's a famous
company, the Chinese technology company,
to build the Egyptian government's new
artificial intelligence data centers.
The visit is part of a larger contest
between the United States and China over
who will control new technology in the
Middle East. Turning to Brazil, listen
to this. Brazil scheduled its its
national elections for October 4th,
which falls on Simchat Torah. Voting in
Brazil is required by law this time. If
I don't know if you know this, this is
actually required by law. It's not a
right or a, you know, it's a law.
Attorney Monica Rosenberg handed a
request letter with thousands of
signatures from Jewish communities in
Brazil and to to the Brazil's highest
election court. The polls are scheduled
to close at 5:00 in the afternoon.
But Yom
the problem is that Yom
the doesn't end until about 6:40 in that
time in that region. So, this means Eden
will not be able to go vote. The
requests ask the court to keep specific
voting places near Jewish communities
open until 8:00 p.m. The community
released a statement explaining that
they do not want to change the election
date itself. The request is fully backed
by a group representing the roughly
120,000 Eden living in Brazil. It is
also being pushed to millions on social
media by Silvia
Abravanel, a Brazilian television
personality.
The election authorities have not made a
decision yet. Excuse me. But the
education authorities haven't made a
decision yet, like I said. So, now back
to the United States. The United States
is pushing to make daylight savings time
last all year long, right? You remember
that? Well, it has been stopped in the
Senate. Yes, the House recently passed a
bill
with the president's support to end
twice-a-year clock changes. But Jewish
groups communities were strongly against
it and pushed very very hard against it.
They wanted that the dark winter
mornings would create major problems for
nates and morning's money.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune says
there is now too much pushback to move
forward. He told reporters that
lawmakers are worried about children
going to school in the dark. It's
another reason. He pointed out that the
country has already tried and given up
given up on the idea year-round
daylight savings time in the past. It
never worked. The bill has been pulled
from the Senate's September schedule.
The change will not go into effect this
year. So, the clocks will be still still
be falling back to the standard time
this winter. Motsae Shabbos night year.
Listen to Trump talk about it if you
may.
>> 50/50 issue.
And if something's a 50/50 issue, it's
hard to get excited about it.
I assume people would like to have more
light
later, but some people want to have more
light earlier because they don't want to
take their kids to school in the dark.
>> All right.
Anyway, let's talk about the tasks
because when it comes to, you know,
putting together your tasks, there's
something about that that tells me that
those companies, you know, sign up for
pro
subscriptions on ClickUp or different
programs. Again, ClickUp is not paying
me to advertise. I'm not going to talk
about them. Talking against them.
As the usual standard of things. Oh,
against. Against the idea that you have
to For some people companies it works.
And I was just saying against them.
Shouldn't not the right way of phrasing.
Sorry about that. Cuz if ClickUp wants
to advertise one day, I mean my I might
take them on. I don't That's my job. And
as an advertiser as an advertiser, we
work towards the company that is paying
us to advertise them. I'm not making
claims. They're making the claim. I'm
just representing it to you. We're asked
to say something to you. Now, do you ask
me if I believe in it? Yes, I do believe
in it. And I've actually seen the reason
why because Okay. So, let's say even
when it comes to a choice between
ClickUp and Taskade, if you ask me, I
would choose Taskade for some very
one very simple reason. I'm non-biased
now to both.
I've saw I've seen both programs. I've
actually worked them both. I see
Taskade. I use it and very very happy
with it. Let me tell you why. A, with
ClickUp I've paid I think $50 per month
for each user. And I think it
accumulates about for three users and
you need different users, different team
members, right?
It costs you about I don't know close to
100. It's a little bit more. You get
discount if you get add more users, but
still per user. So, you pay a lot of
money, about 100 and 100 and something
dollars a month.
It's expensive.
I There is a cheaper version. There is,
I know, but still costs you more money
cuz all the features that you do need,
the basic features that you need are not
available. And this is very complicated.
Between you and me, super complicated.
So, I'd rather stick with Taskade
because it's just easier. And it's
simple. And it has all the features that
you want for very cheap. Like 20,
20-something a month.
And unlimited users, unlimited team
members, no problem with that. Second
thing is, it's run by a high machine
guy, man, who actually designed it for
high machine guy lab and understands us,
understands our needs.
And it runs with a certain calendar like
it's it's it's perfect. Tasks Joy gives
you the joy back again into tasks. Also,
with automatic translation, which I love
the most, by the way. Just saying, if I
had to write the task in one one
language and my team understands
another, they see it in the language
they understand and they also can chat
back in their language and I
in the chat in the chat, which is inside
each task, right? Another major deal,
you let's say your company displays all
the tasks, right? That the company has
to offer for the today's job, today's
tasks, right? Anyone in the team can
just claim it instead of you assigning
it. So, they come on, they see the
board, okay, see this this I'm taking
this. It's amazing. So, go claim your uh
10-day free trial by mentioning On Edge
uh with tasksjoy.com.
All right, let's continue, shall we? The
New York Governor Kathy Hochul and New
York City's uh Mayor Eric Adams and I
are accusing
are accusing the Trump administration of
holding back money.
At a joint press uh conference
yesterday, the governor and New York
City mayor said that Trump has promised
to fully fund New York's
counterterrorism efforts. They say
Washington is blocking 87
uh 87 million dollars in money meant to
fight terrorism in the state. Hochul
says the Department of Homeland Security
is blocking 40% of New York's security
money. She accused the president of
playing political games. She said he is
taking money away from the people from
the police, excuse me, to get revenge on
a Democratic state. Now, Mayor Adams and
I say that blocked money pays for 12
bomb squads and also fire department
radios.
It also pays for nuclear emergency
training for for rescue workers. Hochul
noted that the cuts come just before the
25th anniversary of the September 11th
attacks, which is happening right now.
Um the White House and Department of
Homeland Security have so far not
commented on this delay. Next, Congress
just took a step to avoid another yet
another government shutdown right before
the November elections.
On Tuesday, the House passed a
short-term funding bill in a bipartisan
vote, meaning both parties. Lawmakers
voted to three 370 to 48 to keep the
government open and during and running
through December 11th
cycle. Now, the bill now goes to
President Trump's desk for his
signature. This short-term fix comes
after a rough year where federal
governments have already shut down three
separate times and for a total of 122
days. Now, if you are wondering why
another shutdown is supposed to happen,
it all comes down to a hard deadline.
The government's financial year always
ends on September 30th. By law,
if Congress doesn't pass a new budget by
midnight on that date, federal agencies
legally lose the authority to spend the
money. They have to freeze non-essential
operations, close national parks, and
put thousands of workers on unpaid
leave. To prevent that chaos while
lawmakers campaign for the midterms,
Congress used what it what is called a
stopgap bill. Think of a stopgap as a
financial band-aid, right? It doesn't
actually set new long-term budget, but
instead it temporarily copies and pastes
last year's spending rules to keep the
lights on for a few extra months. To get
To get this package through, lawmakers
had to make a few major compromises.
This buys everyone time until December
11th after the elections. Next,
well, this is the cycle after the
elections, obviously. Elections
happening on November November 7th, I
think.
November Yeah, when is it November This
is November 5th, I think, the midterms.
I don't You know what? Sorry, it takes
me a minute. November 3rd is election
day. Now, if you didn't go register to
vote, I urge you to go register and vote
today. Yes, because your 18-year-olds
your children are home. You know, Yom
Tov is coming, so it's going to be busy
soon. And November 3rd is right after
your It's It's a very busy period, so
you have time, obviously, but you have
to register to vote now. Don't wake up
last minute. And also, I want to tell
you something. All my NY-17 district
friends, family members, I want you to
understand what you're running against.
You have the a candidate, Kate Maloney
Connolly, excuse me. She is never grew
up here. I think what it looks like it
almost looks like the DNC paid her to
move here to this district to be able to
run. She's from Virginia. She's not She
was never She never grew up here.
Who grew Who did grow up here in this
NY-17 district in our district here?
Mike Lawler did. Now, she claims she has
got nothing to claim against Mike
Lawler. She really has nothing. All her
ads are against and I'm I'm telling you
the truth the facts the facts on the
case. All her ads are how proud she is
that she's been serving the military.
Well, great, very good, amazing.
Thank you for your service. I really
appreciate it. But yet, the question
begs everyone. She worked during the
Biden administration as the
counterterrorism
um
um what's it called secretary or
something? She was there.
What happened with the whole couple
thing?
With the whole pulling out of
Afghanistan? I mean, she was there,
right? She was in charge. I mean, what
exactly are you trying to tell all the
the terrorist attack that happened in
Kabul? We just We just reported about
the five
a few days ago about the fact that's the
5-year anniversary now of when when it
happened, this terrorist attack. Killed
American citizens.
American people.
And our American service members. Okay,
so now
let's continue to Mike Lawler. Mike
Lawler is a candidate who's authentic,
runs on simply one thing. You know he
runs on? The people. And people have
seen him. He's People have seen all day
all day long every day. He literally is
everywhere. The guy is everywhere. And
he you could see him. And it's not He's
not just doing he he By the way, she
wakes up now because she wants to run
for election. The second she wins,
November 3rd, trust me, the second she
wins November 3rd, hopefully she doesn't
I mean it's a shame she doesn't because
it is terrible for our country, for us
and our country and the our district,
the help the people have been getting
until now, the the achievements that
Mike Lawler was able to get us until
now.
The second she wins,
God forbid, after shalom,
she's going to fly back to her place
where she grew up in Virginia. She's
going to abandon us here and leave us
alone. She just wants her seat. That's
all she wants in Congress to be able to
out-win the the the Republicans,
conservatives. And the funny part is
that Mike Lawler, yes, he runs as a
Republican, but he is for he for
everyone. You can't see a difference in
colors when it comes to him. Mike
Lawler, his sign is actually, if you've
seen the streets, it's blue. So, it's
like confusing. You think you're blue,
blue is democratic and red is
Republican. Whatever, it's just funny to
see, but that's the that's a funny
picture cuz of my brain thing. Anyway,
continuing to talk about the news, okay?
But, I would urge you to go and vote for
Mike Lawler because I've heard from many
many people, and many people know this
already, NY-17, people from outside the
district. He helps anyone. This guy, his
office is always available 24/7. The
second this Kate Connelly comes in, her
office is going to be closed 9:05, and
maybe 9:05 not going to be available.
You're going to try to reach out to the
office for something that you need. Now,
people need help every single day for
things, passports, immigration, if it's
funding, if it's the salt. The salt, do
I have to tell you about the salt that
Mike Lawler fought for? Is she going to
do that? She makes promises like every
other typical democratic politician. And
the way of her talking is just empty
words. You can hear her speak. We've
nothing against this person. Don't know
who she is. I never No one knows who she
is, actually. Just arrived at our
district a year ago and decided to run
for something, a position that our
district needs, someone who understands
and lives here. You want to tell me
someone new just arrived here from
Virginia, "Oh, I'm running your place."
Like, who are you?
I mean,
yes.
Thank you for your service, but
yeah, you served through the Biden
administration that failed with a poor
pull back from Okay, that's just a a
side thing. A valet parking crew from
the Kol Yaakov wedding hall in Flatbush
crashed
a vehicle into at least 15 parked cars.
The crash left smashed and completely
destroyed cars down an entire block. The
pileup happened in the Avenue P and East
2nd Street. Flatbush Shomrim
responded actually to the scene and no
injuries were reported reported Boro
Park. People
uh the police have arrested two people
from the scene.
Anyway, we'll end with this piece of
news. Karen Olemaun is starting a new
scholarship system to help families pay
tuition
at uh Most Es Satoral.
Parents can now fill out a short starter
form on the organization's website.
While it is not a full application yet,
anyone who signs up will be told as soon
as the real applications open. In a
statement, the group pointed to the
