hi there my name is Sasha Johnston I'm 24 years old from Alamein London I was born in London I've lived in London my entire life I went to school there into a Jewish primary school a jewish secondary school and for that reason as i'm sure you can imagine I've always had an incredibly strong connection to the Jewish people to my Judaism and to Israel but that connection was really heightened for the first time when I came to Israel just 16 years old I came to Israel for the first time I spent a month touring around the country and that was the point on which my connections Israel really stepped up again and the point at which I realized that Israel wasn't just a Jewish state it is the home of the Jewish people I've just taken some time to read about and to learn about the incredible man that was Roy Klein and as I'm sitting here now trying to explain to you exactly how I feel and I feel I'm struggling to find the words and I'm just amazed that I can feel such an incredibly strong connection to a man who passed away several years before I'd even heard his name in a reading about Roy reading about how he passed away and the fact that the Shamar was the final the final words to come out of his mouth that says everything I need to know about the man for me he is the epitome of what it means to be a Jewish leader I know for a fact that I would not be able to see her home in my house in London I wouldn't be able to walk the streets of London as a proud Jew if it were not for the sacrifice the voice made when he jumped on that grenade he wasn't just defending the lives of those around him the soldiers within his immediate vicinity he wasn't just defending the lives of Israelis and the borders and the sovereignty of Israel he was defending the entire Jewish people and I genuinely feel that I genuinely believe that and for that I'll be forever grateful the fact that the final words as I mentioned that came out of his mouth which Timaeus trail the ultimate declaration of faith in God the mantra of the Jewish people were the words that Jewish martyrs have uttered for thousands of years just speaks volumes it just shows me them as we've made that decision he wasn't just doing it for the soldiers around him further people of Israel he was doing it for the entire Jewish people and he understood exactly why he meant to serve Israel and to serve the Jewish nation and I mean I'm eternally grateful to you his family for everything you did in order to make him the man he was leading up to the point of which he had to make that ultimate decision that most of us thank God will never have to make I'm gonna be returning to Israel in a couple of months time as a moderate for a target group I'm gonna be leading a group of British young adults around Israel for 10 days showing them this beautiful country for the first time and I'd like to let you know that I will be dedicating my service as a mud roof as a leader to the life of Roy Klein in honor of the sacrifice that he made in order to ensure that I could freely travel from my home in London to Israel anytime I want and for that I'm eternally grateful and I'd like to thank you for that thank you
