So, like I said, I didn't go to college.
So, when I got out of high school, going
to go to college and school [music] just
was not for me. So, he goes, "All right,
you got to get a job and I guess I'll
start paying rent." Yeah, right,
whatever. I forget the amount of money
he charged me before [music] he passed.
40 plus years.
>> Oh, so he was charging you rent at home?
>> Yep. You can live in this house, you
know, there's really no rules, but
you're going to be paying rent. You get
to use the washer and dryer, there's
going to be food in the refrigerator,
but if you were to live on your own,
that stuff's not free, so he goes,
"You're going to pay rent." So, I guess
around 28 when I had enough money to buy
my own place, he comes up and he pulls
out an envelope full of money. He goes,
"I wasn't charging [music] you rent. I
was putting money away for you so I
could give you a head start on life.
It's going to be tougher now." I was
like, "Wow, that's like so cool."
[music] He goes, "Did it for all the
kids."
