And at the time when the Jewish Defense League was formed, there was a group in New York called the Black Panthers. You don't want to mess with these guys. But the Jewish Defense League ended the threat against the Jewish community through a serious actions on their part without going into details. And I joined the Jewish Defense League in the 70s. My wife was also in the Jewish Defense. We didn't know each other at the time. And uh we were fighting primarily for the freedom of Soviet jury. names like Ysef Mandelvich and Natali Sharanski and Marina Tumpkin and Ida Nudell and Ysef Beun. These were Jews who were trapped behind the iron curtain. So we would take a couple of JDL guys and we would physically block the roads on uh you know uh Third Avenue and 61st Street where the Russian embassy was. We would throw bottles of red paint through the windows of the Russian embassy. And guess what? We were on page one. We put the Russian Jewish uh problem on page one of the New York Times. It really attracted me because I can't stand Jewish weakness.
